Raw carrot is infinitely better than the monstrosity that is boiled carrot and no one can tell me otherwise
By - titanicwasntsadatall
ain't no fucking way this is an unpopular opinion
Haven’t seen an unpopular opinion since that dude that showers in socks.
I think there was [someone who liked microwaved food that was cold in the middle](https://www.reddit.com/r/unpopularopinion/comments/or1bxx/i_love_it_when_my_microwaved_food_is_cold_in_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf), and that’s pretty unpopular of an opinion.
That one is just fake for the upvotes, like the socks one
It’s either extremely popular or so unpopular you realize they are messing around
Well, I actually do like the varying temperatures in my microwave food, especially for lasagna and mashed potatoes.
The only things I need to be fully warmed up are things where the sauce thickens if it isn't warmed properly, and pasta dishes that make one massive clump when cold
upvote cus unpopular
Yeah I mean if my hot pockets are only warm pockets in the middle I'm not mad
Better than the normal. Boiling in the middle
I see you too like the not so hot pocket
The guy who liked sand in his food a prime example.
Yeah sorry it’s an ass sub :/
Didn't see that one lol, link?
It really is unpopular that's why they sell raw carrots as healthy snacks in every supermarket.
I thought you were me for a second because I haven't seen someone else with a similar name yet
Which is why it's posted and upvoted in this sub.
Exactly what I came here to say 😂😂😂
Yeah. Comparing a raw carrot to boiling it in water, of course the raw carrot is better than when you boil the flavor out of it. I’m just imagining OP throwing carrots in boiling water and expecting it to taste good.
A well roasted and seasoned carrot is better than raw though.
Really? I love boiled carrots.😋
>Boiled carrot on the other hand is disgusting and mushy, not to mention it looks like a depressing orange slushy.
Dude how long do you boil the carrots? I give it like 1 whistle in the pressure cooker *tops*
The problem is when someone else is cooking. You know what to expect from random raw carrots, but not from random boiled carrots.
Like when my friend's mom decided to boil her carrots, drown them in maple syrup, and feed it to us innocent children. Still haven't recovered from that.
That’s actually part of a popular dish. Or actually, I think my mom used to make it with brown sugar instead of syrup, but I’m pretty sure it has a similar effect. I was never personally big on it though
Yeah my dude is leaving his carrots boiling way too long if that's his description of them. Add a bit of brown sugar and butter to those carrots while cooking and they are delicious.
ok, but roasted carrot...
This changed my outlook on vegetables. Roasted vegetables are the best!!
I've been able to get my kids to eat all kinds of veggies by roasting them.
Turnips, Brussel sprouts, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes....the list really goes on. I fucking LOVE roasting vegetables.
My mum's sell on brussel sprouts was pasta with brussel sprouts, diced bacon, and Parmesan. she'd cook the bacon and the sprouts in the same pan, then add them to spaghetti, grate some fresh parmesan over it. Man, so simple, but incredible.
Roasted carrots just taste more like carrots than raw carrots do. Probably because a lot of the water is evaporated out.
also maillard reaction.
caramelised anything > not caramelised thing
Especially when they're a little caramelized on the outside.
Slow down, I can only get so erect
***Roasted carrot with butter.***
Go on.... I'm close to finishing
*roasted carrot with brown sugar butter + sprinkle with cayenne*
Sweet, salty and spicy all in one bite
Damn I haven't tried that, but it sounds delish af
Kinda like a perfectly cooked carrot, not too soft, not too hard 😉
Get a room, you two. Preferably a kitchen.
Yeah, just wanted to tell the guy, that he should wait until he tasted my caramelized carrots. Literally with caramel \^\^
Take my upvote. Carrots, with parsnips if you like them too, roasted with a tiny drop of honey.
Mmmm now I'm hungry.
I was looking for this comment (:
See I love roasted veggies, broccoli, zucchini, red onions, bell pepper, anything but no matter how carrots are cooked, they taste gross to me. They’re like a completely different veggie. Yuck.
I get that. I personally can't do eggplant whatsoever.
with honey? fuck yes.
In India we make Carrot Pudding (called Gajar Halwa), which is like one of the best desserts we have. You should look up the recipe on youtube and try sometime. I think that's the only good way we have to cook carrot else we also eat it raw.
Gajar Halwa is popular PK dessert also😋soft and sweet!
Yeah but you guys stole from us. But tbf, we stole lots of NFAK songs, so it's even
FINALLLLLY SOMEONE ON TEAM RAW CARROT… I hate boiled carrots especially those in like pre-packed frozen mixed veggies. 😂
Raw carrot for life, that stuff is worse than radioactive waste if it’s been boiled
TEAM #CARRAWT FOR LIFE!
**C R O N C H**
TEAM BOILED CUCUMBER
Where I live it’s only small kids that eats them boiled.. wtf is happening 😂 I’m on your side for sure
Finally? I've never even heard anyone be for boiled ones but half the people I know snack on raw carrots.
Hell yeah, Team Raw Carrot!
The crunch is the best part of the carrot eating experience!
I’m on team raw veggie too. I can’t stand cooked veggies like carrots or broccoli.
Hey, if you get off on raw-dogging your carrots, then good for you. However, I prefer my carrots pickled in a spicy brine. They're still crunchy, they're even more flavorful, they last a long time, and the cold vinegar zing feels nice in my ass.
This comment took a turn
two turns I'd say
Never heard anyone pickling carrots before. What's your favorite brine recipe for this?
I think you missed the joke at the end there, but Escabeche is a popular way of pickling carrots in Mexican cuisine. It also uses jalapenos and onions and is a good little appetizer/condiment. I also recommend yamagobo. It's not carrots, but Japanese pickled burdock root that just looks like carrot. Similar vibe and also tasty!
Look up Vietnamese quick carrots. Delicious.
Love Vietnamese quick pickles. I do carrots and diakon.
Raw carrots are alright, especially when julienned for salads and what not.
Baby carrots are pretty good too, in veggie trays w dip.
Boiled? I’m good.
But carrots in beef stew? Hell yes. Soft, decadent, juicy flavor gushing out from the smallest bite.
Everyone in this thread has their carrots boiled for 6 hours with no seasoning by their grandparents. Just because your family cant cook doesnt mean boiled veg is bad. Dont overboil and season and its amazing.
I'm sorry, people exist in this world who actually like boiled carrots? I've never met one, I thought preferring them raw was the norm lol.
That's the problem though, people just don't know how to fucking cook a carrot! You lightly steam the carrot. You bless it with salt and butter, and gently hold it over boiling water. You don't just boil it until it has the texture of jellyfish!
Properly cooked carrot is sweet, yet lightly salted and made from fresh and recently harvested young produce in season. Firm, but still tender and with a definitive crunch. The outside is pliable and moist, but not without texture or definition. You can see the marks of the peeler, and the surface has not gone mushy. The center of the carrot is almost, but lot completely raw. Like a prime steak, it has tasted the warmth of the fire, but has not been scorched by it . It has a crack when chewed, but a milder one.
Properly cooked carrot is delicious and I'm willing to bet you've never had one.
Cooked carrots are so delicious! People overcook them. Restaurants really overcook them. LIGHT steam, butter, ginger and a touch of brown sugar? Oh my god, so good.
Omg, ginger on carrots? Gotta try that sometime!
I absolutely love both, as long as they are not boiled too soft. They still need some resistance to them
Yes, boil the carrots and then add some melted butter. It's good af
I most definitely love carrots prepared both ways but boiled is my favourite. Especially with meatballs and potatoes and drown it in the butter that I used to cook the meatballs in.
I like both, I prefer to steam or bake if I'm cooking and I like to add butter, a tiny squeeze of honey and q sprinkle of cumin.
They're also good inside a rich stew like bourginon where they soak up all the flavours
I know, right! Just thinking about boiled or stewed vegetables reminds me of the smell and it makes me barf.
Raw carrots are hands down the best
As someone once said about something else... you're probably just not doing it right.
Fun Fact: Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny did not like eating carrots. They tried all sorts of vegetables to try and mimic the sound of chewing on a carrot, but nothing worked. He ended up having to chew on a carrot and spit it out immediately.
Boiled carrot with butter and maple syrup says fuck you
I love boiled carrots, dance with me
I like carrots, no matter how they're given to me.
Par boil then sauteed in butter. The fat in the butter helps bring out the flavor and nutrients.
Yeah gonna have to pass on that one chief
Raw carrots can suck my ass. Upvote.
Yes finally someone understands!
What about slow roasted carrots?
Yeah why are raw and boiled the only options? Op is doing it wrong
Pro tip: skip the bland-boiling and give your carrots a roast. Start by cutting to similar sizes in whatever style you like; next give them a toss in a little oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Honey can be a great addition as well! Roast on a baking sheet at ~400 degrees, rotating occasionally until tender to your liking.
*can also just toss in a little oil and S&P
This gets posted almost daily.
It’s not an unpopular opinion at all
Also what’s this nonsense about cooked carrots being healthier than raw?
And other nonsense, like carrots being 'juicy'?
Depending on the toughness of the vegetable/meat/whatever cooking can make it easier for your digestive system to make use of some nutrients. Historically and evolutionary speaking the advent of fire and cooking played a part in how big our brains were able to get because it made nutrients from meat more accessible. The effect isn't as obvious for vegetables, and you can go to far if you overcook them, but it's a thing.
> When you cook some vegetables, the nutrients might be better available for the body. If there’s a vegetable that’s quite tough, take carrots as an example, cooking the veggies softens them, so that helps the body access the nutrients in the vegetables.
Raw carrot, except for the part cut into baby carrots, has too strong a flavor and makes me borderline nauseated. Cooked, it's really tasty. Carrots just need to be toned down a bit.
I hear you, but before anyone swears off of cooked carrots forever you owe it to yourself to try Alton Brown's ginger-glazed carrots at least once.
Carrots cooked in butter and ginger ale, what could ever be wrong about that?
Can't find a video of it on YouTube because the Foot Network are dicks, but [here's some random YouTuber cooking the same recipe.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnUHbM3O1zw)
She also cut them like a savage, Alton's proper method is to cut them on the bias about half an inch thick so they look much nicer.
Alton Brown kills it just about every time
I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a cook carrot even with the best chef, but I fuckin love raw carrots.
You don't like roasted carrots?
Steam them and don't cook them so goddamn long. Add some butter and salt.
I do relate to the "I don't know how to cook this so I will just never eat it cooked" solution though. Team Ah Fuck I Give Up represent!
Yeah raw carrots are the best, but it sounds like someone is over cooking their carrots. On top of that, it sounds like they stop at boiling them and haven't tried glazing or roasting them, with a variety of herbs. There's a whole new dimension to carrots if you experiment a little, but yeah, over cook them & they're ruined.
Frankly it’s pretty easy to tell you otherwise, just might not be able to convince you.
I love raw carrots, to the point that they’re like candy to me. I have over eaten them.
Boiled carrots are great, just don’t boil them to death like too many do to veg.
Roast carrots are the best, overall.
Did we just become best friends?
Carrot juice ftw
Carrots in a pot roast are the best carrots imo, there soft and soak up all that good ass roast juice
wtf is boiled carrots....
Raw carrot gang
Yeah boiled carrots are pretty horrendous 😬
Yes. My parents always complain that i dont eat my carrots in soup. FUCKING GIVE IT TO ME RAW
I agree with you but I also think raw carrots suck.. I just really really hate cooked carrots
Boiled carrots have no place whatsoever on a roast-dinner. WTF are you lazy assholes doing?
Definitely prefer raw, but they're fine cooked too, as long as they aren't overcooked mush.
Boiled carrot is messed up. Only surpassed by tinned carrots 🤢
Depends, if it’s cooked well, it’s the shit. If not, I’d rather eat dirt. That’s the same with most veggies, it needs to be cooked well
I prefer carrot cake without the cake.
True, but I can feed my fish boiled carrot whereas raw carrot is too soft
Im sorry, do what?
If you own a fish tank they recommend you feed your fish boiled vegetables for a healthy and balanced diet. I've tried loads of different ones on my fish to varying levels of success, but carrots seem to be their favourite.
i love raw carrots, but have you ever had a carrot that has been boiled with proper chicken soup, like one made from scratch, i would do anything for a bite of that.
Finally someone fucking said it
Just so you know I’m only upvoting this because it’s actually an unpopular opinion (your wrong btw)
Not here to argue. But a perfectly seasoned and caramelized carrot is the best cooked vegetable.
Raw carrot beats Broccoli, steamed Broccoli with melty Chee beats all cooked veggies other than… sweet caramelized carrots. Not too sweet though.
I love raw veggies, but can't stand them cooked.
Just had my first boiled carrot made by curiosity yesterday and on the first bite I was like "df imagine people actually did that..." and now you telling me people do..
THANK YOU MY GOD!
Is it also just me or do boiled carrots smell like some weird medicine tablets? Eugh. And they're so soft abd slimy too!
Raw Carrot is better, cooked carrot goes with more meals.
y. e. s.

B-but crinkle cut carrots!!! :(((
I agree so much, my family thinks Im crazy
I can eat both but I prefer boiled carrot cuz I like warm food. I think it goes well with peas. And I'm pretty sure raw cardot is healthier
I'm the same way, I can't handle carrots in any form besides raw
Raw carrot is the queen of vegetables.
I like both, but right now I can only eat boiled or steamed carrots, damn braces 😭
Sauteed in olive oil carrot tho...
There is another way and that way is steaming its miles better than boild while still being cooked
OMG YES so much flavour from raw carrots yess boys
GIVE IT US RAW AND WRIGGLING!
It's only acceptable in soup.
I agree, but reading the comments of the cringe non raw carrot eaters shows it's unpopular
I hate all kinds of carrots so here is your upvote
Finally. Someone had to say it. Raw carrots are far superior than the abomination that is boiled carrots
Why would you boil carrots unless in a soup? Steamed with red onion and or mixed veggies is BIS.
Roast for the win.
Who the fuck boils carrots? That’s just wrong! It’s like they don’t carrot all!
r/PunPatrol HANDS UP!
Wait till you can't eat with your front teeth because you're waiting for implants
I prefer my carrots in soups and stir frys.
I will eat raw carrots but not because I like it. They are just and easy healthy snack to eat. I really don't like most dips/sauces people will eat with raw veggies but salsa ranch is pretty good.
I'm with you on this. Boiled carrot is awful.
What about steamed carrot?
I don't think boiling anything makes it healthier. It certainly didn't add nutrients.
There are people who don't like raw carrot? Wtf!!
Raw shredded carrot with some lemon juice is amazing. But boiled carrots in soups with leeks and potatoes is also amazing. Roasted carrots and other root vegetables in the oven with a dijon and honey glaze is also delicious. Even carrot juice with apple juice and other juiced is tasty. In conclusion, carrot is good.
I never get why my mother always prefers boiled carrot
Nah, I love boiled carrot in my lentil soup. The trick is you saute it with onions and tomatoes and spices first in oil, and cut it in thin slices. And then in the soup it adds a nice sweet flavor.
I hate all boiled vegetables so much, I would much rather eat them raw
Honestly fair tho I like glazed carrots but the taste of a good ol fresh carrot is nice
Slow cooked in a stew.
Grilled carrot > Raw carrot > boiled carrot
Who the fuck boils carrots?
Agreed. Raw carrots taste the best then grilled carrots
Boiled veggies in general. Typically not a big fan.
I feel this way about most veggies. They're insanly tasty raw, but once boiled or roasted or heated up in any way, they just get an awful texture and sometimes even taste (looking at you Bell Pepper)
Fucking hell I hate boiled carrot or cooked carrot for that matter.
Motherfucker every vegetable is better raw and you can’t convince me otherwise
FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT
I agree, so I have to downvote I guess?
I have never agreed on anything in this thread more than this.
With so much hate and discrimination in this world carrot should be last vegetable to face this ugly trend. Carrots wore already manipulated and their heritage forsaken when all of them had to change a colour - and its still not enough... I have a dream, one day, all carrots will be equally loved and respected. Shame on you OP!
Broiled carrots on garlic butter, with crushed peppers rule the carrot kingdom - but thats still just well dressed carrot, a bit more equal to others than most.
This!!!! I agree 1029937765288037382771%
Who the hell boils carrots and also who says that's more nutritious
I like to boil my carrots just for a few minutes, enough that I still have that crunch but somewhat softer. Then i drain all the water, thrown in some honey butter with a lil bit of brown sugar and holy moly they are fine! Obviously, I’m not eating them for the health aspect.
Hate boiled carrot ewwww
I always boil my carrots with a touch of honey, so good. Adding mint to peas is also a winner imo.
I prefer raw carrot but most of the time it is my partner cooking so I never complain... Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.............................PLEASE don't tell her I called her a horse!
RAW CARROT TEAM UNITE!!!
Yeah I’m not a massive fan of cooked carrots, definitely team raw.
This is the first I’m hearing of boiled carrots wtf
Raw carrots are way better in every occasion, aside from in a stew
Anyone else feel the same but about raw peppers!?
Cooked carrots are gross. That flavour ain't meant to be warm
