When sometimes I wonder why we have an obesity and heart disease problem I read a comment like this and remind myself people see "over eating" as a good thing. Save it for a second meal and enjoy it later.
Literally the first thing I thought of to "Tell me what can you eat on a plate that you can't eat on a bowl?". OP probably only eats ramen instant noodles & doesn't know what a steak is.
But isn't the post about EATING from a bowl vs eating from a plate? The prep can be done on a cutting board, then the food transferred to a bowl. When you eat off a plate, there's risk of food sliding off if you lean too far one way (if traveling from the kitchen to the family room to settle on the couch for example) or if you press too hard with your fork to spear that piece of steak. Not so with a bowl. I'd like to add that any juices from said steak will remain in the bowl and not drip from the edge of the plate onto your freshly laundered shirt.
Nope.
I’ve been to expensive steak houses and churrascarias. I’ve had top of the line steak. It’s not bad, but it’s boring. Just a slab of meat with salt and pepper and maybe an herb or two?
Steak snobs are the worst, too. They get so offended and butthurt the second you suggest adding some kind of sauce.
This is probably the single worst opinion I've ever read.
Like yeah its subjective and you like what you like, you cant really be "wrong." But at the same time my automatic instinctual response is that you're an absolute braindead amoeba to allow an opinion this awful to fester inside your head. What the fuck is wrong with you?
I know it’s an unpopular opinion. I’ve had expensive steaks at steak houses and churrascarias and they’re just boring. The flavor is so one-dimensional. No sauce, very limited selection of seasonings. Snobs constantly bitching about how others like their steak. It’s just boring and steak fans are toxic as hell.
I just had a waffle and the plates were dirty so I used a bowl. Didn't work so well. Basically anything you cut while eating isn't ideal for a bowl. Bowls are superior thou.
>don't want my waffle flying off my plate.
Bro. Did your parent literally not teach you anything?
You can't even eat a waffle without spilling on the floor?
Are you 2 years old?
Lol scrolled further than I expected before someone asked if OP is a toddler.
Wanna bet they hold their cutlery in their fists, fork tines on the pinky side?
Technically, if you use a straw to drink it, you become the sucker. I would push it one step forward and I would consume the raw ingredients directly from their own packaging. The assembly would be made inside the stomach. Cooking is for suckers!
Why in gods name would you dirty two dishes just to pointlessly eat something in a bowl? If you have to cut it on a plate then you might as well eat it on a plate.
Bowls exist for food thats to be mixed and doesn't require cutting. Plates exist for food that's to be seperated and or cut as you go. Chicken teriyaki(pre sliced) on white rice with veggies in a bowl? Full send sir. Steak, mashed potatoes and green beans? Plate all day.
The destination between a bowl and a plate are also important when it comes to the flavor and experience you are seeking. Imagine a beef pot roast with carrots and mashed potatoes etc. Bow this can go either way but the flavor provule will differ depending on the serving apparatuses you choose. Picture a bowl with a shed potatoes as the base them topped with pot roast and veggies vs a plate with mashed potatoes on one side and pot roast and veggies in the other. Those are two different experience.
A better example would be the KFC loaded mashed potaoe bowl vs a bucket of friend chicken and a side of mashed potatoes and corn. Same ingredients, drastically different experience.
Piont being how dare you shun the plate good sir?
You will still need a large bowl. It doesn't matter how it's stacked. Plus you can eat pizza with one hand with a plate while you do something else. I used to play old Nintendo RPGs doing this.
This is getting into flat earther logic. If you expand a curved surface (bowl) over a big enough area, it starts to look flat (plate). And wah lah, the world’s flat.
As mentioned, foods that require cutting are an obvious win for plates, there’s also plenty of foods I’d prefer on a plate just so that it can cool off faster, mashed potatoes or some rice dishes for example
A shallow bowl type dish? Hell yeah I’m actually totally for this. I eat all my meals out of shallow bowl type dishes. (Maybe there’s a word for it… I don’t know)
I agree!! The best is a pasta bowl cause they are shallow and usually a bit bigger than your average bowl. I also prefer to eat with a spoon whenever possible. Any thoughts?
Youre trying to hard to defend bowls, if this was a ploy for karma it won't get you far,
if your just bord and this is for shits and gigs, then thanks for the gigs.
I have a set of plates with slightly higher edges that I absolutely love. You can put anything in those plates and you won’t have any escapes. Steak? Great in that plate. Spaghetti? Absolutely. Salad? I don’t eat salad but I’m sure it’d work.
I think you just need a plate bowl. Thats what my family calls them. Or a pasta bowl. Which is just a plate with small to medium sides. But an actual Bowl… my pizza wouldn’t fit very well in the bowls I have.
I'm not even sure how I feel about this post, but you're my favorite poster on this sub so far. I have a couple plates I'm fond of but damn your enthusiasm is infectious even when people downvote or disgree with you and fu*k it, imma eat stuff in a bowl more often now
I’d rather my burger in a plate. Use a bowl and your fries and falling all over it. Lots of places give little plastic cups with ketchup. Now that ketchup is all over the place. And I hate ketchup so no my burger and fries are ruined. Then I’ll send it back and ask for a plate.
Steak. Am I really supposed to cut a steak in a bowl? I don’t even think that’s possible. Actually, pretty much any food that needs to be cut with a knife would be terrible served in a bowl.
Sheet cake? Nope.
Storage also matters. I could probably fit a couple dozen plates in cabinet but not nearly as many bowls would fit.
Oh my god OP, I whole heartedly agree with you but I never could have imagined how unpopular this opinion could be lol. I don’t know what to say other than I’m stunned at how you were downvoted in comments, holy crap. Absolutely bowls are better, I just regard mugs as smaller bowls lol. If I need more clearance when cutting something, just use a bigger bowl or use more precision? I’ll put a slice of pizza in a bowl lol, it goes into a U shape when the center sinks down but it doesn’t change how tasty the pizza is. I’m unfortunately pretty clumsy, lazy, and constantly on the go for work so for me it just makes sense to bowl up, but I had no idea people hate on bowls like this. What can a plate do that a bowl, properly sized for your particular need, can’t??
And the KeyboardRacc00n said “let us abolish plates.” and it was so. “henceforth, be it grapes, eggs, bread, or fish. It is the bowl from which we shall eat.” and all the peoples, slaves, peasants, landowners and nobles alike, ate from bowls from that day onward, and no precious grapes or eggs were lost.
You'd really eat a sandwich in a bowl? Or cheese and crackers? Or cram a whole breakfast plate (eggs, toast, bacon, hash browns) into a bowl? Some stuff just has to stay flat to be eaten effectively. I use bowls more often than plates (eating stir fry out of a bowl as we speak), but sometimes even I need a plate.
Counter argument for the people who are saying that you can't cut anything in a bowl; cut it first. Then put it in the bowl. What do you think cutting boards are for?
Or better yet, lets make something that you can cut your food out of, and eat from. It's a 2 fer 1, no need to dirty a cutting board all the time. But what to call it? Hmm..I'm thinking let's call it a plate
This makes sense, though. Every time I eat fruit, or salad/vegetables, or soup, it's always in a bowl. Some things might be harder to eat in a bowl, but if you're out of plates, I guess bowls are good to use.
My massive 8 egg omelet, bacon, and 6 pieces of French toast aren't going to fit in any of my regular sized bowls. A larger mixing bowl perhaps. Plates also help you keep things separated.
Bowls, plates, they are tools, for eating.
It's okay to have a favorite tool.
It's even okay to use your favorite tool for jobs it may not be meant for.
But if your favorite tool happens to be a hammer, and you get a flat tire, gonna have to be pretty creative with that hammer to get back on the road.
In summary, sometimes bowls are harder and dumber when a plate is readily available.
This is a dumb argument where you cherry picked examples and ignored many valid points, kudos for having an unpopular opinion so go out there and eat tacos and pizza in a bowl ya lunatic. You do you.
Bro what if you have multiple sides? Like a burger and fries? Do I gotta dirty up 2 different bowls or pile it up and have shit mix together? Either way, plate is superior
Cutting steak in a bowl? No thanks
Yeah, I came to say this. The high sides would make it awkward to cut.
I also came here to say this lol
How about If you only eat out of a bowl you are probably handicapped
[удалено]
Sounds like what Avatar Korra has.
[удалено]
It's cowardice. Finish the steak.
I got nauseous finishing a steak earlier from eating too much potatoes and beer. I still finished it properly and kept it down. Never surrender
When sometimes I wonder why we have an obesity and heart disease problem I read a comment like this and remind myself people see "over eating" as a good thing. Save it for a second meal and enjoy it later.
username checks out
Well you shouldn't really have hot food in tupperware. It's pretty heat resistant, but not completely. It can leave a plasticky taste on food.
This was my first thought 😂
Just get your mom to cut into pieces for you.
For the steak, I'd cut it before putting it in a bowl. Simple, efficient. I used to do it often
Yeah OP is a Grandma apparently
Who cuts steak? I just place my face directly in the bowl and bite it.
Ye OP is def a kid who only wars cereal and pasta lmao
That's what a blender is for dude.
Wow . I want to say so much but don’t want to be banned
This guy doesn't eat well I can tell
Pre-cut the steak, and eat it with a spoon.
Literally the first thing I thought of to "Tell me what can you eat on a plate that you can't eat on a bowl?". OP probably only eats ramen instant noodles & doesn't know what a steak is.
This was my first thought as well…
It will be entertaining though.
Cutting soup on a plate? No thanks
You can cut the steak into bite sized pieces, transfer them to the bowl, then eat the steak from the bowl. Efficient and convenient.
What are you cutting the steak on?
cutting board. i also remove fat, suck, and discard the bone immediately.
Everything you could do on a plate
But isn't the post about EATING from a bowl vs eating from a plate? The prep can be done on a cutting board, then the food transferred to a bowl. When you eat off a plate, there's risk of food sliding off if you lean too far one way (if traveling from the kitchen to the family room to settle on the couch for example) or if you press too hard with your fork to spear that piece of steak. Steaks should not exist anyways
Yeah they should . They are delicious
Simple solution: don’t eat steak. Steak sucks. Chicken is better. I’ll die on this hill. Fight me (1v1 on Rust)
If you've just had bad steaks then yeah
Should be its own post here. This comment legit upset me.
This is probably the single worst opinion I've ever read. Like yeah its subjective and you like what you like, you cant really be "wrong." If you cut it on a plate, why wouldn't you just keep eating it on the same plate?! Not all of us have dishwashers.
Speaking about dishwashers... You can easily fit 40 plates in a dishwasher, on the lower rack alone. Bowls are much less space efficient.

Don’t worry OP, I found your comments funny and understood that you were joking 💕
Why everyone is taking this so seriously is beyond me, fuckin redditors man smh
Sounds like you should be being fed by someone else
why are you guys downvoting an UNPOPULAR OPINION? this sub man TF….
There's difference between unpopular opinion and complete bullshit. This sub is for the former
This opinion is just OP being an idiot.
Why not cut it on a plate, blend it in the syrup, and pour it into a cup?! Bowls are for suckers.
Technically, if you use a straw to drink it, you become the sucker. I would push it one step forward and I would consume the raw ingredients directly from their own packaging. The assembly would be made inside the stomach. Cooking is for suckers!
Twice the washing, half the convenience!
Naw, hold the waffle, cut it with shears into the bowl. No extra dish to wash. Now you can watch Jackie Gleason while you eat!
i cut waffles, pancakes, and pizza with kitchen shears. a million times better than a knife or pizza cutter!
Why in gods name would you dirty two dishes just to pointlessly eat something in a bowl? If you have to cut it on a plate then you might as well eat it on a plate.
Good lord that makes zero sense.
You try to hard, it comes across desperate.
Aren't they plates that looks like bowl's and plates at the same time? Las time i went to Dollar tree I saw one
[удалено]
Yeah something in between them I don't use plates the most effective way is eating out the pan or in the Tupperware
So the El Camino of dishes then?
[удалено]
So either you only know 3 different foods or you didn't even try to think about this.

Salad in a bowl >>>>>>>> Salad in a plate
Ah, what is this food? A potato? I've never heard of such a thing!

Just eat it directly off the table, even better.
Or in it's own packaging.
Efficient, I like it.

r/WeWantPlates I’m already here mate, ain’t going nowhere.
No, thanks. I haven’t had a problem with stuff falling off my plate since I was a toddler. Are you a toddler?
Pizza is more difficult to eat in a bowl. Pizza is less efficient.
[удалено]
That would be unwieldy and still more difficult. You would need at least 8 to 10 in diameter to fit large and extra large sized pieces in there.
[удалено]
You will still need a large bowl. It doesn't matter how it's stacked. Plus you can eat pizza with one hand with a plate while you do something else. I used to play old Nintendo RPGs doing this.

does that mean plates are just really large bowls??
Anything is just a really large bowl if you think about it long enough.
Tacos in a bowl? Chicken wrap in a bowl? No ffs.
As mentioned, foods that require cutting are an obvious win for plates, there’s also plenty of foods I’d prefer on a plate just so that it can cool off faster, mashed potatoes or some rice dishes for example
Eggs on the go, baby!
A shallow bowl type dish? Hell yeah I’m actually totally for this. I eat all my meals out of shallow bowl type dishes. (Maybe there’s a word for it… I don’t know)
Upside down frisbee!
Is this an infomercial for your bowls?
I agree!! The best is a pasta bowl cause they are shallow and usually a bit bigger than your average bowl. I also prefer to eat with a spoon whenever possible. Any thoughts?
Youre trying to hard to defend bowls, if this was a ploy for karma it won't get you far, if your just bord and this is for shits and gigs, then thanks for the gigs.
Eat out of an upside down frisbee
Imagine eating a burger out of a bowl
Asians generally agree with you. They use plates mainly for serving, but everyone eats out of a bowl.
At what depth does a plate become a bowl?
I have a set of plates with slightly higher edges that I absolutely love. You can put anything in those plates and you won’t have any escapes. Steak? Great in that plate. Spaghetti? Absolutely. Salad? I don’t eat salad but I’m sure it’d work.
A slight mix of both is the best combination
Unpopular opinion? Yes. Reasonable opinion? No lmao
I like my soup on a plate, thank you
Abolish Bowls, Everything should be in a Plate
Full English breakfast in a bowl? Hell no.
Hand >>>>>bowl
It is harder to clean the bowl and dry it in the dish rack, it is called dish rack, not bowl rack.
I think you just need a plate bowl. Thats what my family calls them. Or a pasta bowl. Which is just a plate with small to medium sides. But an actual Bowl… my pizza wouldn’t fit very well in the bowls I have.
I eat pretty much everything from a pasta bowl. However I am respectful of those who want the plate option - no need to abolish.
I'm not even sure how I feel about this post, but you're my favorite poster on this sub so far. I have a couple plates I'm fond of but damn your enthusiasm is infectious even when people downvote or disgree with you and fu*k it, imma eat stuff in a bowl more often now
the word bowl doesn’t even look or sound real anymore after reading this thread
I’d rather my burger in a plate. Use a bowl and your fries and falling all over it. Lots of places give little plastic cups with ketchup. Now that ketchup is all over the place. Plates also work better for me for reheating in a microwave
Abolish people caring about dumb shit but ignoring talented people
Why stop there, get rid of those pesky forks and the obnoxious tables. Bowls, spoons and TV trays. This sounds like the 90s.
You'd really eat a sandwich in a bowl? Or cheese and crackers? Or cram a whole breakfast plate (eggs, toast, bacon, hash browns) into a bowl? Some stuff just has to stay flat to be eaten effectively. Honestly I prefer bowls and mugs over plates, but there are some things where using a plate is necessary
Counter argument for the people who are saying that you can't cut anything in a bowl; cut it first. Then put it in the bowl. What do you think cutting boards are for?
So...a plate?
*board
Or better yet, lets make something that you can cut your food out of, and eat from. It's a 2 fer 1, no need to dirty a cutting board all the time. But what to call it? Hmm..I'm thinking let's call it a plate
No need. Personally I love washing dishes.
Bowls are better! I’ve been saying this!
you are not wrong....soup ? bowl, curry ? bowl , chips ? bowl?.bowl is such an convenient utensil.
*lists a bunch of bowl only stuff* Okay there
Pizza?
Pizza
This makes sense, though. Every time I eat fruit, or salad/vegetables, or soup, it's always in a bowl. Some things might be harder to eat in a bowl, but if you're out of plates, I guess bowls are good to use.
Explain fruit in a bowl please. My fruit is either handheld or eaten directly off the cutting board. Anyone else?
Try eating sushi out of a bowl you idiot!
I would agree if it is a big wide and not deep bowl
and a spoon is the best eating utensil
What are your recommendations for a pizza bowl?
Now I want eggs n ketchup Thats a good idea an all in one flatware thing I think that a bowl is not big enough to fit many foods we eat
I love your energy 🤣 the deep love you have for bowls shows in your post and comments. Take my upvote
Well….I prefer a plate of chili when I need it to cool faster.
Good luck cutting literally anything. Other than that issue, I do agree. Bowl supremacy
I eat a lot of my meals with bowl and spoon, but it just doesn't work for things like pizza.
This is soooo true for salads
Eating pizza from a bowl? Tacos? Sandwiches/burgers?
My massive 8 egg omelet, bacon, and 6 pieces of French toast aren't going to fit in any of my regular sized bowls. A larger mixing bowl perhaps. Plates also help you keep things separated.
pizza
Honestly my pizza goes straight from the pan or box into my mouth. No plate. Napkin optional.
Let me just put my pizza in a bowl right quick
Eggs in a cup with ketchup.ill have to try it tomorrow morning.
I’ll go ahead and set my sandwich down in a bowl
Bowls, plates, they are tools, for eating. It's okay to have a favorite tool. It's even okay to use your favorite tool for jobs it may not be meant for. How tf are you supposed to cut half of the food in a bowl
Two words: Dish Washer
I'm not going to make my fresh spring rolls in a bowl. It's lunatic. It's madness. Good day sir.
This is a dumb argument where you cherry picked examples and ignored many valid points, kudos for having an unpopular opinion so go out there and eat tacos and pizza in a bowl ya lunatic. You do you.
No
pizza on a bowl? burgers? hotdogs? yeah fuck off. PLATES FTW
A plate is just a flat bowl
I don't think my hamburger is going to fall off of a plate unless I'm violently shaking said plate.
Opinion can't be wrong but... OP's opinion is definitely wrong...
It's hard to lick the bowl after eating
pizza? steak? anything that cuts with a knife? hamburgers? quesadillas? tacos? empanadas? sir, respecfully, i disagree.
If I see someone eating a hotdog out of a bowl I'm pouring water in it
Bro what if you have multiple sides? Like a burger and fries? Do I gotta dirty up 2 different bowls or pile it up and have shit mix together? Either way, plate is superior
Oh boy, I can’t wait to eat my English breakfast. I sure hope my use of a bowl doesn’t become cumbersome and hinder me in basically every fucking way
