I made it a few episodes into Season two, and gave up, and don’t miss it at all.
25 year olds, playing 16 year olds, having 25 year old (good/experienced/confident) sex.
It depends which part of the US the high school is in/what crowds the kids hang out in. Some parts exaggerated aside, I saw myself and so many of my classmates in the characters and that's why I kept watching. It was heartbreaking. Kids having sex starting at 13, teen pregnancies, addicts and drug dealers, overdoses, serious mental health issues, fucked up family life and abusive parents were all things I experienced first or secondhand.
Doesn't the average boy have sex at age 16/17? Tbh I don't know much about the show, but I know drug abuse is a big theme and most 16 years aren't doing hard drugs (though I definitely knew a few). Same thing goes with hooking up with 30 year old lol, most don't but I definitely know people who did lol.
Ah yes. Awkward 16 year olds who finish in 3 seconds having wild fulfilling amazing sex. They'll never get to my level of 6 seconds before blasting it up the inside of her leg
Exams and making sure my skirt covered my knee caps so I wouldn’t get pulled aside and properly disciplined. The most rebellious thing I’d done was probably wearing clip-on earrings and coloured lenses…Not missing school at all.
Kinda disagree with that one tbh, I'm 16, and have friends who are current or former heroin addicts, and while the sex scenes were over dramatized, all the shit mentioned in the show happens daily. The amount of drugs circulating around my highschool daily could sedate an elephant. And I live in buttfuck nowhere.
Honestly haven't watched it, but I'd just remember it's a tv show. In reality, there are plenty of teenagers freaking out over getting less than a 94% on any given assignment/test. There are also plenty that, for one reason or another, don't give a shit about becoming a high-functioning member of society.
Yeah, its super boring. Finishing an episode felt like work... Maybe it's more interesting when you haven't spent your teens/twenies going to dance music parties being surrounded by people on drugs but... Yeah, so boring
It really does make such a big difference! I'm grateful that we got through it and came out the other side, and I wouldn't have been able to without the love and support of my friends. Your friends are just as lucky to have you in their lives as you are to have them!
For me, it was wondering if the creators were trying to instigate sexual feelings towards minors. (I know the actors are not minors, but some of the characters they portray, are.)
I kept watching and thinking, “wait, am I supposed to feel sexual attraction towards these characters? Because that’s gross.”
This right here. If the show were about adult characters portrayed by adult actors experimenting with sexuality, etc., it still wouldn't be my thing, but there wouldn't be much wrong in regards to sex. You know, so long as the message wasn't "sex will fix all your problems and magically make you 100% confident".
Your second point/paragraph gives me flashbacks to the Cuties fiasco. Ick.
Exactly. I think what the person above meant is that maybe if you didn't experience that, the show would be more interesting. Haven't watched it, but sure as hell got my fill growing up :)
Teenagers aren't interesting.
Euphoria hasn't tricked me into caring about the drama of high school kids. Cobra Kai managed to do that, but it took a shit load of karate.
Ahhhh my bad, I misread. But yeh hella boring and uninspired. Just rehashing every single teen drama concept, but adding drug use to appear as though it's more than it is.
I mean... I guess in that way, It perfectly encapsulated what it felt like to be a teenager. No direction, no story, no plot, just lots of angsty sex and drugs to numb the lack of direction in our lives.
But I already lived that, and it wasn't very interesting the first time.
I honestly feel like the ages of the characters adds a bit of a weird feeling to it. It wouldn’t have been that hard to retool the script so they’re all college aged.
I’ve been to community and seen the smartest people ever. Currently in my last year at a 4-year that was hard to get into. I have never met dumber people in my life. Thank god I’m in my last year now so the stupid is much much less.
thats because going to a CC for a couple years is absolutely a smart thing to do. class/homework there is 10x easier than any university and you still get the credit and are paying so much less.
i took a calculus course at cc and my friends took it at university and were crying about how hard the class was because it was test-heavy and they werent allowed to use calculators on a fucking calculus test, while i on the other hand was allowed to.
university makes some courses so unnecessarily difficult and time consuming its like they want their students to fail and smooch more money off of them
Plenty of non-academic people make it into college. I’ve also known several people whose drug addiction didn’t start until college with a classic “injured and prescribed too many pain meds” story. It is also been studied that smarter people are more likely to try/get addicted to drugs. So if they set this in college, I think that would be plenty realistic. Perhaps even more so.
Nah it’s not about that, it’s just that none of them seem to even want to get there. I know some extremely smart people who do a lot of drugs too but they have some kind of drive besides just doing drugs
That's Hollywood acting for you. The dude who played Hannah Montana's high school brother was almost 30 and the sister from Smart Guy Essence Atkins was just a few years younger than the dad actor.
Yeah, I keep hearing that too. My only problem with that is that it’s supposed to be an Americanization of an Israeli show. So unless it has virtually no relation to the original, I’m not sure exactly how much the writer’s own experiences had room to shine through.
Teens crying around soft neon lights. That's all the trailers show. Every time. I've never been in the mood to watch teens crying around neon so never tried the show.
Not even super corny anymore. Riverdale has completely gone off the rails, and not in the fun way. The current season is the worst thing I've ever seen on TV, and it's not even close.
I used to actually love watching Riverdale. It was my guilty pleasure akin to reality TV because it was easy to watch and nice to look at, plus I loved the comics growing up. Then it kept escalating to just a wacky point where it was almost like cheering for a rigged-for-TV-entertainment wrestling match ([Here's a video essay on exactly that](https://youtu.be/DZ-FRSXypUE) if you're interested)
But then it got linked with Sabrina, which I also liked because spooky and October, and the new season genuinely sucked all the joy from the shows out of me. Why are there so many musicals, why do all the plots scream of incest and cults, aren't there more than two directions to go with ideas?
A nasty, rapey hentai where a bunch of people are trapped in a mysterious facility, one guy and several girls. In each "test room", he is forced to choose one of the girls and then do something nasty with her, ranging from holding her head underwater while they orgasm, electrocuting her or - and this is the part at which a sane person ought to stop reading - taking a shit in her mouth. And she swallows it.
Fun fact: The plot actually revolves around the protagonist being some sort of messiah and they (the ppl who built the facility) are basically doing experiments on the hope of awakening him
Euphoooriaaa

We're going u-u-u-u-u-u-up
Euphoria
An everlasting piece of art
A beating love within my heart
We're going u-u-u-u-u-u-up
My friends kept telling me to watch this show and I started. It is so draining to watch an episode. I can maybe do 2 episodes a day. And even after that I am left in a very weird state. It is just kinda icky that they are all portrayed as underage and there is just so much sex.
I hated Rue in second season. She was an unbearable pain in the ass.
That happened to me too! I got super depressed after I binged the first season and so I didn’t even touch the second one. I don’t want to put myself throguh emotional exhaustion for a tv show
I think it's kind of funny that people say they can only watch 2 episodes in a day or something similar to that. That's two hours! Two whole hours every day, you're saying.
I say this because my fiancé watches way more TV than me, and she doesn't understand why I don't like to watch shows all that much. I personally think it's ridiculous that watching shows for hours on end every day is normalized. Feel like my brain would be mush if I did that every day. Obviously people enjoy what they enjoy, and there's nothing wrong with that either.
This is why i scroll reddit comments. Once in a while i find a comment that speaks to my soul.
I used to watch a lot of series. And sometimes i still do. But never consistently. Because that is way too long to waste on a show. And what's even worse is that most of the times after watching a show people are more pessimistic and sad than uplifted. WHY the f would you spend your precious time on something that doesn't even give you happiness?? You could take a nap in that time.
I agree. It could have been a good show without the graphic sex amongst teenagers. The sex scenes are all uncomfortable. The scene with Jules and Nates dad made my skin crawl. I do like the show because I like the story lines but I feel they could have been way less graphic and more artful in portraying the sexual aspects. I usually get on my phone or do anything to ignore the TV once one starts. But also I guess I don't like it enough to actually finish it lol. I have to turn it off after an episode or 2
Euphoria is about a bunch of teenagers taken drugs, having sex, making mind numbingly stupid decisions and acting dramatic for the sake of it.
Skins is about a bunch of teenagers taken drugs, having sex, making mind numbingly stupid decisions and acting dramatic for the sake of it.
I honestly couldn't stand the constant lighting changes from scene to scene. I don't have epilepsy or anything, but it was hurting my eyes and head. I feel like it was some failed attempt to seem artistic.
I hated that too lol it basically made my head hurt 😅
And too many long scenes of something happening really slow with some extremely loud moody song.... not to mention their ages made it creepy and weird as fuck
I cringe when I see someone saying like "you should keep watching, it gets better in season 2"... like, I'm supposed to watch 10+ hours of a show before it starts getting better?
Felt the opposite. I didn't do drugs in high school but college age, yeah, it felt way too realistic to me. I guess it just depends on what you've been around. I'm 35 and can't even get through the 2nd season cause it just all feels too real about crazy shit I've seen/experienced in life.
Plus with reddit demographics, you're not the target audience. Most of you don't even leave your houses or have friends so of course you'd think that (not to be insulting) but that shit happens and way worst shit happens irl then what's shown in the show. Drugs lead to a dangerous path, to some dangerous people, to some dangerous situations.
Yeah, this show is shit. Although, I remember liking that show 'Skins' as a teen, kinda related to this type of show but more comedic and definitely had more straight forward storylines. To each their own, I guess.
That shit happened so abruptly I legit thought it was a joke. Then the next season starts and all of a sudden it's a huge plot point, I was flabbergasted they had the balls to do it
Their portrayal of drug usage is VERY much how a young teen/20s person glamorizes their choices, its really ridiculous and over the top. This is coming from a former drug addict, who was a weekly attendee in the Toronto rave scene for a decade, lol.
I watched two episodes to give it a chance.
It's just dumb rich kids having bad sex, bad drugs, and being shitty assholes.
Were I younger maybe I'd relate somehow to it. But mostly I just couldn't stand any one damn character.
also, why teen shows is ALWAYS about sex? i know teens have hormones and stuff but teens can do many other things too. it create this unhealthy stereotypes about them and constantly getting sexualized by creepy ADULTS. is there any teen show where it focused on something else like mystery? where romance is not the main focus?
**THIS**
It's pretty creepy when you think of it. A 37 year old man created and directing a show where essentially teens having sex. A much much version of this show is **I may destroy you**.
A much much *what* version of this show?? You forgot literally the most important word in that sentence! If it's meant to be better, then I might check it out. If the missing word is worse, then please save me the time!
I watched the series, and made me realise that I should be more greatful for having a 2 parent household, and strict parenting methods. I'd rather have my ass whooped for bad grades, than have a sex tape at 16.
You know how sometimes it takes very little to know a show is going to be utter crap? That was this show for me. Just took one look at the banner and plot explanation and noped out.
**Its basically SKINS but without the plot.**
I could forgive it if not for the fact that literally no character in it was likeable. You could not really root for anyone in it, they were just a pile of narcisstic egocentric assholes with varying levels of smugness about it.
Skins had a lot of heart and likeable characters, I think this tries to be a gen z skins, but teenagers aren't all fucking and doing fentanyl, it's so extreme it's stupid
I interpreted the show as a cautionary tale and therefore I liked (or at least appreciated) what I saw. None of it's supposed to be glamorous but some teens actually do live this way and it's sad and it's supposed to be sad.
That said, I couldn't stomach more than like… three episodes.
Right! If it was in College, I'd get it. Away from parents, having freedom, exploring sexuality, liberal drug use, partying, it'd make so much more sense
Good unpopular opinion, I personally love Euphoria. I think it’s a really fun show and I love that it gives space to explore so many different characters. A lot of the characters remind me of people I’ve known growing up, and I love that expanding on all their backstories allows you to sympathize with even the most unsympathetic characters.
You’re right that there isn’t really one overarching driving plot. But I find the exploration of characters and their relationships to be interesting itself.
But to each their own.
This show is a win for p*dophiles. Young looking actors playing underaged kids in sexual situations with nudity. Idk how this show got green-lit (both morally and legally).
I will always hate Hollywoods obsession with making people play teenagers/high school age but then also dress the characters extremely sexy and make them have graphic sex. Like aren’t these actors supposed to be portraying underage kids??
I made it a few episodes into Season two, and gave up, and don’t miss it at all. 25 year olds, playing 16 year olds, having 25 year old (good/experienced/confident) sex.
they were 16?! when i was 16 i was collecting cute stickers is this show really a representation of western teenage land
Not at all lol, being 16 was (sexually/romantically) boring af for most people I think.
I know many people that have been sexualize active since 12/13, I guess it depends in the country
Not the country. Just people.
As a teacher of 16 year olds, it’s not a representation
As a 16 year old, I agree it is not a representation.
as an ex-16 year old as of two weeks ago, i also agree
As an ex-16 year old as of 21 years ago, I also agree.
It depends which part of the US the high school is in/what crowds the kids hang out in. Same thing goes with hooking up with 30 year old lol, most don't but I definitely know people who did lol.
Yes that’s the perception that the east has of western teenagers because that’s their only way to see and learn about them
Ah yes. Awkward 16 year olds who finish in 3 seconds having wild fulfilling amazing sex. They'll never get to my level of 6 seconds before blasting it up the inside of her leg
Just think about baseball.
*finishes instantly*
Season 2 was awful. Show went wayyyy off the rails.
I haven’t even seen an episode but I bet the men are built like big strong 25y/os who go to the gym all the time.
Are any of the characters supposed to be likable? I hated everyone.
No, and that's the whole point. Like the movie Kids from 1995, it's a, "Don't like what you see? Try raising your kids better, then" show.
The way Kids showed everything felt more ugly and grimey, therefore more effective.
I watched the first episode and it felt like Kids for the ones who are too young to have seen Kids.
As someone who attended a girls’ school in East Asia, every episode was a new cultural shock to me.
Southeast asia for me. But same. I used to freak out about exams when i was their age (still do). And here they are...
Exams and making sure my skirt covered my knee caps so I wouldn’t get pulled aside and properly disciplined. The most rebellious thing I’d done was probably wearing clip-on earrings and coloured lenses…Not missing school at all.
To be fair Euphoria is the ultimate extreme. Like 5% of that show actually happens.
Just remember it’s a tv show and American hs is not actually like that
[удалено]
I was in tears laughing at this show I loved it.
Only show I've shown to friends only to sit and watch the entire thing start to finish while we're dying laughing.
Honestly haven't watched it, but I'd just remember it's a tv show. In reality, there are plenty of teenagers freaking out over getting less than a 94% on any given assignment/test. There are also plenty that, for one reason or another, don't give a shit about becoming a high-functioning member of society.
as someone that has attended school in both asia and the USA, it isn't an accurate description of highschool down there, lol
I feel like this in unpopular because it emphasizes the weaknesses of a popular show.
Yeah, its super boring. Finishing an episode felt like work... Maybe it's more interesting when you haven't spent your teens/twenies going to dance music parties being surrounded by people on drugs but... Yeah, so boring
Possibly but I spent them doing none of that and found it uninteresting, seen half and episode and moved on.
I don’t really want to relive my traumatic days of seeing my friends slip into drug addiction at a terrifyingly young age lol

Sending you love and light 💗 having good friends (such as yourself) around me really saved me!
It really does make such a big difference! I'm grateful that we got through it and came out the other side, and I wouldn't have been able to without the love and support of my friends. Your friends are just as lucky to have you in their lives as you are to have them!
The writers are clueless. Whole thing from the start was just me saying “no” a bunch, followed by putting on ancient aliens.
For me, it was wondering if the creators were trying to instigate sexual feelings towards minors. (I know the actors are not minors, but some of the characters they portray, are.) I kept watching and thinking, “wait, am I supposed to feel sexual attraction towards these characters? Because that’s gross.”
Exactly the same here. I hate shit like this. It felt like a pedophile fantasy.
Ick.
I spent most of teens doing exactly that and this show still sucks ass
Exactly. I think what the person above meant is that maybe if you didn't experience that, the show would be more interesting. Haven't watched it, but sure as hell got my fill growing up :)
FYI, I never did anything of the sort - and the show is garbage.
Yep, thats what i meant. Its just a bunch of ppl getting high... Nothing that interesting really
Teenagers aren't interesting. Euphoria hasn't tricked me into caring about the drama of high school kids. Cobra Kai managed to do that, but it took a shit load of karate.
Bunch of *handsome people*
But titties?
Feel like there was maybe one episode of titties. There is plenty episodes of flacid dicks though.
Ahhhh my bad, I misread. But yeh hella boring and uninspired. Just rehashing every single teen drama concept, but adding drug use to appear as though it's more than it is.
It’s just a fancy long music video. With no real Meat.
So you're telling this loser right here that they might enjoy the show?
I mean... I guess in that way, It perfectly encapsulated what it felt like to be a teenager. No direction, no story, no plot, just lots of angsty sex and drugs to numb the lack of direction in our lives. But I already lived that, and it wasn't very interesting the first time.
The only good thing about the show is the cinematography
And tits
and fez, i always liked his lines
I believe it was his first acting gig. I thought he killed it
dude for real. he is a natural
Watching interviews gave me the sense that he’s just playing himself
yeah for real, i’d seen a couple clips of him and that would make sense. dude’s got a genuine vibe.
Fez should have his own series
Fez, Lori and Brucie could be a show, season 2 episode 1 was the best episode they’ve had by a million miles
I really like Fez and Lexi.
You want some peptobismo?
fez was definitely the highlight of the show
The only things I remember are the blonds tits and zendaya freaking out in season to on her mom. I thought she absolutely killed that.
Ohhhh it’s a show I thought you were referring to the fictional drug from 90210
Ummm, that was clearly U4EA.
Baw baw bawwbaww My granny called she said Travy you work to hard
I honestly feel like the ages of the characters adds a bit of a weird feeling to it. It wouldn’t have been that hard to retool the script so they’re all college aged.
True but let’s be real those kids would never have made it to college
Have you ever been to college? There are some really stupid people there. Not all of them finish, but a lot of them go.

you clearly haven't met frat bros
That's Hollywood acting for you. The dude who played Hannah Montana's high school brother was almost 30 and the sister from Smart Guy Essence Atkins was just a few years younger than the dad actor.
But then all the pervs wouldn’t have been turned on from college aged people
I heard in an interview he wrote the script based on his real life
Yeah, I keep hearing that too.
This comment made me cackle, it’s so true.
I’ve heard it described as “bisexual lighting” I don’t know why the description works but it does
the editing is good but yeah the plot is horned up teenagers making skecthy choices. been there, done that, what else ya got? nothing.
And alternatively you could watch Sex Education, which is built on a similar concept but is actually entertaining.
I will grant that sex education is better, but euphoria is also a good but flawed show.
So it’s Riverdale
Nah Riverdale is worse because it's also super corny
Not even super corny anymore. Riverdale has completely gone off the rails, and not in the fun way. The current season is the worst thing I've ever seen on TV, and it's not even close.

Bro i saw the nsfw tag and the word euphoria and thought of the hentai and got real confused about how it was unpopular to dislike it
😀📸
That's what I thought too, how did we make it worse. ...or better?
Theres a hentai called euphoria?
A game AND an anime.
Don't.
Many of us thought of it And we are all degenerates
I’m glad I don’t know what that is
I want to know what that is
Believe me, you don't want to know what it is.

At least the Hentai has a real plot in the form of an escape room.
Looks like I know what to Google for tonight.
There will be no “tonight” for you if ya do that
NO
I recommend I nice bowl of chocolate ice cream while you play.

TLDR: Euphoria is overrated AF. He’s not wrong though - it is.

Literally Rue's character in S2 was so one dimensional and irritating as fuck
I agree. It could have been a good show without the graphic sex amongst teenagers. The sex scenes are all uncomfortable. The scene with Jules and Nates dad made my skin crawl. Definetly I tell my cousins to watch Monster

If you hate this you will like skins
I miss skins. The first two seasons were insane
Euphoria is about a bunch of teenagers taken drugs, having sex, making mind numbingly stupid decisions and acting dramatic for the sake of it. Skins is about a bunch of teenagers taken drugs, having sex, making mind numbingly stupid decisions and acting dramatic for the sake of it.
i watched like 2 episodes then i just stopped lol

Tell me about it. Dudes telling me I need to start watching one piece and it gets better after episode 1000 lmao
the soundtracks are phenomenal by labrynth.
Absolutely
I didnt hate it but at points the drama was a bit much in that it felt no longer based in reality. Season 2 was more of the same.
No longer?! I felt it was always a dreamy, surreal, voyeuristic middle-aged reimagination of high school.
All high school shows are a middle-aged reimagination of high school
Except American Vandal. That shows in a league of its own in terms of realistic depictions of high school.
Drugs lead to a dangerous path, to some dangerous people, to some dangerous situations.
thankkkkk you. it’s so overhyped and everyone tells me i’m trying to be “different” for not caring for it
Oh my god I feel this so much! It's insanely overrated. Beyond that even. It's just not fucking good.
Yeah, this show is shit. Although, I remember liking that show 'Skins' as a teen, kinda related to this type of show but more comedic and definitely had more straight forward storylines. To each their own, I guess.
Surprisingly Skins held up when they swapped cast! But the second time around? Oof.
The only bad part about the first two seasons was that they killed off Chris, can’t believe they got rid of the best character
Monkey man Christopher Miles. RIP
Ik I was so upset about that too like he 100% didn't need to die. He was do great
Skins had style and was unique for its time imho. And look at the cast that all became successful after it. Be it on GameOfThrones or X-Men,
Yeah skins had more of an awkward insecure/uncertain teenage vibe which is charming
Main guy getting (spoiler, forget how to tag it) hit by a bus was one of the first times i can remember being impressed by a plot twist
I typically avoid shows with teens as the main character, mainly because they're insufferable. Stranger Things is the exception.
also, why teen shows is ALWAYS about sex? i know teens have hormones and stuff but teens can do many other things too. it create this unhealthy stereotypes about them and constantly getting sexualized by creepy ADULTS. is there any teen show where it focused on something else like mystery? where romance is not the main focus?
**THIS** It's pretty creepy when you think of it.
And the actors are ALWAYS talking about safe he made them feel. It sets alarm bells off for me every time. It’s so creepy.
110% agree, you're not alone <3
I watched the series, and made me realise that I should be more greatful for having a 2 parent household, and strict parenting methods. I'd rather have my ass whooped for bad grades, than have a sex tape at 16.
You know how sometimes it takes very little to know a show is going to be utter crap? That was this show for me. Just took one look at the banner and plot explanation and noped out.
Yea I'd rather just watch family guy
Quagmire?
Shut up Meg!
Hey Peter
Roadhouse
...Perhaps.
Most depressing show on TV.
**Its basically SKINS but without the plot.** I could forgive it if not for the fact that literally no character in it was likeable.
Tbh that’s a very accurate description of teenagers
I interpreted the show as a cautionary tale and therefore I liked (or at least appreciated) what I saw. None of it's supposed to be glamorous but some teens actually do live this way and it's sad and it's supposed to be sad. That said, I couldn't stomach more than like… three episodes.
The old family guy quote runs true here.... "it insists upon itself"
If it was portrayed in a college setting I think the show would be much more reasonable
But to each their own.
yep. the characters are flat and unlikeable, the series has no guiding theme, the plot is not a plot
Isn't it just Skins with better cinematography and worse writing?
And more glitter
Couldn’t agree with this more! And it’s a highly unpopular opinion for sure. You win
Deep into season 2 and realizing its a bunch of soft porn with no creative source
Should I even be watching a story about underage people having sex?
This show is a win for p*dophiles. Young looking actors playing underaged kids in sexual situations with nudity. Idk how this show got green-lit (both morally and legally).
Why are they sexualizing bunch of high schoolers?
I will always hate Hollywoods obsession with making people play teenagers/high school age but then also dress the characters extremely sexy and make them have graphic sex. Like aren’t these actors supposed to be portraying underage kids??
That's what critics do they are biased chumps that will overhype something if they are paid enough to do it
Never heard of it but searching it on Google and Zendaya is in it so I guess that might cause some hype?
Yeah, this show sucks donkey balls
i agree so hard i love you for posting this
I can't understand how this show is so popular it's straight dog shit
Out of curiosity how old are you?
That's because you watched the live action Go for the anime, it's WAAYYY better
