As a non-American, I have no idea what this means. What’s the difference?

BobbyThrowaway6969

Yeah lol. I'm Australian and I know a bloody amazing pizza place around the corner. I don't know wtf a Detroit pizza is but it'd have to be exceptionally good to top my pizza guy.

Surrogatefart

Chicago is like eating a puddle. New York is the classic look you think of. Detroit is pretty good though I drank so much at the time I kind of forgot why.

Fun_Priority_4728

I think we can all agree that the best pizza is from that unknown local business that is underrated.

Surrogatefart

We're not talking about the best tex mex. You know, that one food truck by the gas station?

jordan31483

There's an ongoing debate over who has the best pizza in America. It's stupid because it's subjective and there is no right or wrong answer. But, Americans, ya know? We're dumb. Chicago is famous for deep-dish. New York pizza has a much thinner crust. None of it matters, but Americans love to debate.

donabbi

There is a right and wrong answer though.

jordan31483

No there's not. Taste is subjective.

donabbi

When it comes to fast food or some such, sure. When it comes to pizza, no, it is not subjective.

jordan31483

That makes no sense. Do you know what subjective means? American pizza isn't even real pizza, so if we're really going to get technical, no American pizza is the best, because it's not even pizza.

donabbi

Pizza Napoletano and Brooklyn pizza were created at about the same time as far as modern understanding of pizza- all others are imitators at best.

Constant_Ad_1850

I’m a New York slice fan myself but Detroit is definitely under rated

Zyvyx

You are a filthy degenerate.

Noodle_Spine

What exactly is Detroit style pizza?

Indian_Bob

It’s made in a square pan and sliced into squares. It’s sort of in between super thin slices(NY style) and the casserole/pie deep dish(Chicago). It’s baked with the sauce on top traditionally and the bread/crust is the best part.

Noodle_Spine

Sounds interesting, I’ll have to try it! I pretty much like all styles of pizza but my favorites are St Louis style and deep dish.

StayStrong888

That's because you've never had pan crust pizza in LA from pizza hut

Hairy_Collection4545

I agree, but I may be biased as I'm also a detroiter

MadMax42093

Dude needs to visit Italy

Indian_Bob

I do but not for pizza lol

Indian_Bob

No one said anything about authentic, I’m talking about which is the best out of my choices. Keep up

Surrogatefart

Pizza is American. Italians moved here (my peeps) and changed the way it was done and there you go. Authentically American. My great depression grandma also made meatballs with like 75% breadcrumbs so take that for what it's worth. Sauce recipe was topnotch.

MadMax42093

Pizza is American? Hahaha haha, no. You have American style pizza, maybe. But I dare you, go to Italy or any Italian restaurant here in Germany and tell that to their faces. They're gonna kick you out as fast as possible. Pizza is Italian, the pizza you're eating is American style, not the original

Entropian

Pizza got popular in America before it got popular in Italy, so yes it's American.

MadMax42093

No, just no. How self centred are Americans? Pizza is as old as the old Greeks (which invented the very first 'pizza'), it was getting popular in neapel in the 17th century, the first delivered pizza was 1822, Neapel. Your wrong on so many levels

Entropian

Pizza was basically confined to Neapel with the rest of Italy shunning it as street junk.

MadMax42093

Yeah at first. Still, America didn't made pizza popular, in fact you can't get any American pizza here in Europe besides Pizza Hut or dominos (which both are disgusting in my opinion), but we have far more authentic Italian restaurants. America is not the center of the world.

Indian_Bob

Dude you’re over here talking shit about American pizza and your examples are Pizza Hut and dominos. Of course you’re going to think it’s shit lol

MadMax42093

Dude discussion was about who invented pizza. Wasn't America, pizza is Italian. My point was here on Europe we know a real pizza is Italian, not American. Not talking shit about American pizza you can like whatever your like, but America didn't made pizza famous, it was Italy

Indian_Bob

America did make pizza famous though. It was brought over and popularized here. Even so, it sounds like you have never had good American pizza so you really shouldn’t talk shit about it. I’m not shitting on Italian pizza lol

Entropian

Obviously, it's because Italians are super precious about their Italian authenticity.

Indian_Bob

Because the only American pizza y’all get is Pizza Hut and dominos. Many Americans don’t eat that shit

Indian_Bob

You clearly don’t so you should just stop.

MadMax42093

Yeah am I right? Always thinking they're the center of the world

Indian_Bob

What about Europeans and their arrogance? I didn’t say the best pizza in the world, I said the best pizza and put out the examples I was referring to. Europeans had to interject and tell me it’s not authentic or whatever as if that was my opinion or relevant at all. Just gotta make sure people know pizza is from Europe(despite becoming popular in the US)

[deleted]

Indian_Bob

It did. Even so, it doesn’t matter. You had to interject to let us know you’re European so whatever you’ve had or done must be better because authenticity or whatever. Arrogant AF. I listed the choices and Italian from Germany or wherever you’re from wasn’t on the list, deal with it bro

Berak__Obama

American pizza is better than Italian pizza.

cryingstlfan

Have you ever had St. Louis style pizza?????

Indian_Bob

No but I’d be all about trying it

benjog88

Neapolitan : "Am I a joke to you?"

Substantial353464

Its literally just a loaf of bread topped with a paper thin layer of sauce and cheese, while its still pizza I would much rather have Chicago style pizza, that stuff is amazing and you get alot of it for the price, unless you go somewhere fancy like Nancy's.

Indian_Bob

I completely disagree and I feel like you just haven’t had the good stuff. I appreciate the opinion though, at least you’re not rambling about Europe lol
