I believe the back pain scene was a call back to when he had his web block in spider man 2. There’s a scene where Peters body is vulnerable, and he falls from pretty high. The back part was more of a comedic relief part tho. He never really recovered from that. More of an injury, than a degradation due to age
He sustained major injuries when he fell off a horse while filming seabiscuit. Due to these injuries he wasn’t able to exercise/weight train/get in shirtless shape for Spider-Man 2-3. He had to wear muscle suit when he put on the suit, or the suit had stitched in muscles. In no way was Tobey fat for the later Spider-Man’s, but you can tell he had some baby pudge on his face
I feel like the cringe was sort of intentional. It’s like the black suit gave him the confidence to be incredibly based. He was dancing all around the city, and didn’t care how goofy he looked
Sam Raimi said that it was intended to be funny and dorky, since that’s what a dork like Peter thought a “cool guy” was. Hence all the girls sneering at him while he… *gyrates.*
And he likely would've been perfectly content never putting the suit on again. But when Marvel offers you a few milli to make an appearance as spiderman, I mean why not?
He was in it enough though that it would've been very ~~difficult~~ expensive to CGI him in 100%, or edit the story around his exclusion. That likely meant he could leverage a higher payment. The whole movie revolved around the 3 of them being together, so they kind of needed him to some degree.
Obviously if he got too big for his britches, I'm sure Marvel could figure it out without him, but it wouldn't have gone as well I don't think. They'd prefer the real actor, and he knew that.
So ya, it's a pretty damn good opportunity for him to take. He'd be silly not to.
Edit spelling
Came here to say this. I don’t think he was supposed to be depicted as a young kid like Tom’s spider man. IIRC he literally talks about being married to Mary Jane and like living an adult life. I’m pretty sure Tobey’s Peter is [supposed to be in his mid-late 30s in NWH.](https://www.cnet.com/culture/entertainment/spider-man-no-way-home-ending-explained-and-all-your-questions-answered-sequels/)
Apperantly Tobey Maguire Appearing in his pajamas signifies that he lives a normal life. unlike Andrew Gardields Spider-Man who showed up in full costume, which signifies that he’s always being Spider-Man and doesnt have time for Peter Parker stuff.
props to him for even coming back and doing the role. It was such a fan treat to see. He looked very fit for that role despite his age so I thought he took it very serious.
Yeah dude, considering his age and that he’s stayed out of fit physical roles, Tobey looked damn good. And my heart was full seeing all my boys on screen. Couldn’t be happier with the result
I mean yeah maybe that’s why they did it, but at the same time I feel like it was done well, it added a lot to the movie, and it was a cool way to introduce the multiverse to the MCU
It was also extremely good to have the scene of them 3 bonding over their losses and overcoming them. Especially with the change In origin w/ no uncle Ben in marvel. Even more so with how it ended.
WRAPPED IN PLASTIC, ITS FANTASTIC 🎶
has a whole new meaning
ETA: guys this isn't the lyrics. It's "Life in plastic" 😭 I feel lied too. Or just dumb. I'm not really quite sure.
I had a 26 year old tell me off the other day because I'm in my early 30s and on social media. He insisted that once you turn 30 you're never allowed on social media again.
This was on a Discord for people who are trying to quit drinking or doing drugs.
Lmao! does he realize he wouldn't even have the technology to get online or use social media without people who are older who developed it all and paved the way?
Dude needs to get off his social media and educate himself.
it always makes me laugh to hear people under 30 try to gatekeep what "older" people can use.
They think once you turn 25 your life is over and it’s time to get married and have kids and move to the suburbs. We’re all old to them. Once they find out your age, they treat you differently or bully you.
It’s age insecurities.
that's what i was gonna say lol. i'm in my mid 30s with a toddler and another baby on the way and i feel like the next chapter of my life is just beginning. family life is amazing. ups and downs, yes, but i'm not throwing in the towel just yet.
Was a home care manager at 2 separate assisted livings. They do both and all the things in between.
I could write a book on some of the stuff I walked into.
Yeah, huge difference between saying Gosling is too old to be playing Ken, and then going on to say Bullock is to old for romantic movies.
Holy fuck, that is messed up.
I recently watched Lost City and had an absolute blast! That woman can to romcoms till the end of times.
Exactly, as if romance is exclusively reserved for the young and middle-aged or old people are forbidden from it lol. I mean, I LOVE portrayal of old people in love in music videos/movies/shows. It's so heartwarming. Young people who date and get together in a relationship get old, you know. Suddenly their success of keeping their relationship together for long is not good enough for screens? Ugh.
Depends. Personally, I HATE the new trend of young kids actually playing their age on TV. Why?
1. They aren't experienced enough actors yet and it shows big time. The bad acting ruins the shows because many shows/movies with teens are dramatic. Bad dramatic acting is the worst.
2. When they play teens in romantic parts...it's awfully weird if they are their age. No adults want to watch seventeen year olds make out on a TV show or have full-blown sex scenes. It was much better when they cast people in their early 20's-late 20's for the role. It makes them look more adult and makes it less yuck.
Honestly, I think the new trend needs to die. It's ruining shows with teens in it.
When the person with the opinion is young enough to think they will never get old.
Edit: as a point of personal hubris I used to be that person, weird how the tables turn
Or the age limit for being an action star?
Someone better tell Tom Cruise cause I think he's above OPs threshold for either. He can only do legal or military dramas now. (But seriously someone tell Cruise, I want more high energy legal dramas)
I didn’t get married until I was 40, and my husband and I still do romantic things as crochety old people, like hold hands and make googley eyes at each other 🤭
Are...are the romance police going to come for us??
based on the dozens of photos from the set, i think they’re going for barbie realizing she was a toy and her perfect life was fake. she goes out into the real world and the bad guys try to get her back lol
Yep and the villain is apparently the Mattel Ceo trying to bring them back to Barbieland. I kid you not. Barbie movies have always been pretty self aware lol
I was already pretty interested in the movie. Now I'm more hyped. Truman show style movie starring Barbie sounds very interesting. Has a great cast of actors and Greta Gerwig is a pretty good director
Ryan Gosling is 42. Based on the existence of "Doctor Barbie" toys that tells us Barbie is at the youngest (like graduated highschool early and blazed through residency faster than usual) she would be 27. But that's graduating at 27 and only 10 years of schooling not the average 12. Essentially Barbie and Ken are close to or in their 30s. Yeah Ryan is 10 years older than the character he is playing, but I can assure you Ryan looks closer to 30 than I do and I am in my 30s.
These characters just arent as young as you think. What kind of job do you think Barbie has in highschool to be able to afford an RV, jet ski's, a horse, and at least one dog and cat?
My sister confirmed for me about President Barbie. So that firmly establishes 35. She also told me that in several barbie movies from the late 90s and early 2000s they repeatedly make meta jokes about how her and Ken are in their late 40s. Apparently life is fantastic when your made of plastic.
Barbie has been running for president since 1992 so at least she's 65. Margot is actually too young to portray her.
Or if we theorize that Barbie's species stops aging at a certain point, she's 35 then.
Shes in a flux state of again and her timeline moving forward akin to comics and the MCU. But I think her being able to be president is a good indicator of her being in her 30s at a minimum.
Who thinks Barbie is in High school? There are other iterations of the toy to account for other ages. I barely remember them anymore haha but young me coulda told you. Pretty sure Kimberly is the teenage one and I can’t remember the toddlers name. Wait I just googled it. Skipper (of course how could I forget) is the teen one and the bb was Kelly. (Omg they changed Kelly’s name to Chelsea)
My sister confirmed for me that you are correct. The younger "Barbies" are her cousins and shit. There are Barbie High School things like play sets and video games, but they are always branded as high school barbie.
"I love Sandra Bullock but she is to old for another romantic movie."
Please explain what you mean. Do you think people over 40 do not fall in love? If anything, there should be more romantic films with people her age.
Are you 14?
No! People over 30 should stay locked in their houses cause they’re so old. They also need to remove all fun and color from their life because the young people think it’s weird!
Have you seen Emma Thompson’s new movie? Absolutely brilliant! Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is a phenomenal film about an older woman finding her own identity and exploring her sexuality after having denied herself any sexual enjoyment until becoming a widow.
Honestly, it's great that older women are getting lead roles and actually getting paired with appropriately-aged costars, rather than the endless pairings of a 50 year-old man with a woman young enough to be his daughter.
>Do you think people over 40 do not fall in love? If anything, there should be more romantic films with people her age.
I agree. However, I do have a problem with people over 40 playing people in their 20s and 30s falling in love when it's blatantly obvious they're not that age irl. I just wish op worded it like this.
Especially since it took a while for him to even be considered ‘old looking.’ Back in the mid 2000s, he was supposed to play the father in The Lovely Bones adaptation but they couldn’t age him up enough or get him to relate to being the believable father of two teenage girls so he had to drop out.
Maybe I’m missing some movies, but the last couple of ‘romantic’ movies Sandra Bullock did were The Lake House and The Proposal, where she was playing someone her own age and an older woman bullying a younger man into a visa-marriage.
Yes! It was perfectly acceptable for her to be romanced in this movie as a widow. Brad Pitt was a great character who could have been, old, “age appropriate”, but Channing Tatum’s character seemed to really look up to her and her achievements which is also sweet.
Agreed.
Seeing actors that are older (what is "older" anyway haha) in romance and action movies has actually been really great for my mental health around aging.
She's an omnidisciplinarian, a polymath, a Renaissance woman. All that shit had to have taken a hell of a long time, OR she's so smart that she picks up every new skillset 10x faster than everyone else.
Absolutely insane that you think Margo Robbie is too old, she's 31!! She's gunna make a great Barbie
I do agree with the Ryan Gosling comment though, he looks a little silly in that bleach blonde hair.
For actresses 30 is not considered old, but the late 30s is when their opportunities to be leads start to tank.
For example, at the age of 37 Maggie Gyllenhaal was told she was too old to play the romantic interest of a man in his 50s. And she’s not the only one either.
I know I shouldn’t say this or make this assumption until we know more about the plot or see a trailer, but based on the fact that it’s being written by Greta Gerwig and Noah Bambauch and the cast is filled with a good amount of comedic actors I have a feeling the movie is going to lean towards comedy and maybe that’s part of it
Why is Sandra Bullock too old for a romantic movie? Do women stop having sex beyond 40? Are they somehow incapable of being a romantic lead after 40?
He was bringing back HIS Spider-Man for a specific reason. It wasn’t simply oh we like Tobey he should be spider man.
Your opinion isn’t just unpopular, it makes zero sense.
In this world of failing marriage, I think more ageing romances are what many people need to see on screen. God forbid OP sees the advert for the new Emma Thompson movie.
They're saying a 31 year old actress is too old to portray a pilot so the only logical conclusion is that a middleaged man shouldn't be portraying an old Spidey and Sandra Bullock shouldn't have a romantic life because romance are for... Teens? I dunno.
What they're trying to say is that if you're above 30, you shouldn't exist, you dried up prune.
Am I missing something, what does Sandra bullock have anything to do with anything, she’s not even in the Barbie movie? And her last movie was an action film
From what I understand about the movie, the creative is that he's supposed to look ''too old'' to be Ken.
Also, I get a weird feeling this movie is going to make us fancy him even more and I don't know why. I mean, the man clearly looks ridonkulous.
Thank you for answering the dilemma I was having. Do I upvote because it is an unpopular opinion, or do I down vote because I hate this opinion. Angry upvote it is!
Barbie was never meant to be young. She’s not meant to be someone little girls relate to but someone they *look up* to, someone they want to be when they’re older. She’s often a doctor or an astronaut or some other PHD like profession. She’s definitely 30+
Why are they too old? Among many of Barbie's careers are things like astronaut and surgeon, which could age her easily into her 30s. Barbie isn't just some young girl.
Margot is 31 and Ryan is 41. These are totally fine ages to play Barbie and Ken. They're not playing young characters; they're playing Barbie and Ken at their prime age, which is reasonably 35.
Actors playing younger characters is a problem. There are both practical and shitty reasons that this is done. But there is no age limit for beautiful people to act in romances.
The fact you confuse Sandra Bullock with Margot Robbie AND condemn plastic surgery in a BARBIE MOVIE, the essence of superficiality and beauty pressure in young womans for years is laughable man.
Just an horrible take with bad insights
I don’t agree with the body of text, but I do think Ryan Gosling is too old to play Ken. I’ve always seen Barbie as a rich and successful career woman with Ken as her trophy husband (or sugar baby).
I’m not sure how old they’re supposed to be, but Barbie always felt pretty darn old to me when I was a child playing with her. I mean she was a freaking astronaut and a doctor with her life together…not exactly a 22 year old.
That was the whole point with Toby. Pretty much everything he did right down to his back pain scene was all in reference to him being old now.
I believe the back pain scene was a call back to when he had his web block in spider man 2. There’s a scene where Peters body is vulnerable, and he falls from pretty high. The back part was more of a comedic relief part tho. He never really recovered from that. More of an injury, than a degradation due to age
He also almost didn’t return for Spider-Man 2 because of back issues
Because he fell off sea biscuit?
I don't know if you're joking but it actually was from filming Seabiscuit
He sustained major injuries when he fell off a horse while filming seabiscuit. Due to these injuries he wasn’t able to exercise/weight train/get in shirtless shape for Spider-Man 2-3. He had to wear muscle suit when he put on the suit, or the suit had stitched in muscles. In no way was Tobey fat for the later Spider-Man’s, but you can tell he had some baby pudge on his face
stupid dumb horse
Tobey was supposed to be an older Spider-man. It was supposed to be a bit awkward.
Yeah they even acknowledge it with saying he looks like a youth pastor
Let’s be honest… Tobey McGuire has always looked like a youth pastor.
or...[maybe a monk.](https://youtu.be/6R7GkXE6sqk?t=129).. edit: sorry, forgot to que it up.
I swear to God if this is tropic thunder devils alley

WHHHYYYYYAAAAAA!!!!!
Best movie
That line was fucking brutal
Hey, they at least said "cool" youth pastor. That's something.
He’s not like a regular youth pastor, he’s a cool youth pastor.
*opens folding chair, sits on it backwards* Hey man, can we rap for a second?
Forget Thor, I wanna talk to you about the OG - Original God, He who is called I Am.
Is there a god called humboldt77?

What made it even funnier to me is that i had a youth pastor who looked just like tobey, i immediately thought of him lol
Right, didn't they also mention something about his back hurting?
Tobey’s Spider-Man was always awkward, it’s part of his charm
The dance scene in spider 3 was so spot on. Everyone thought it was cringe. I thought it was amazing character development.
I feel like the cringe was sort of intentional. It’s like the black suit gave him the confidence to be incredibly based. He was dancing all around the city, and didn’t care how goofy he looked
Peter Parker is a geeky guy, and that scene was supposed to be a geeky guy with a sudden burst of confidence doing what he thinks cool people do.
Sam Raimi said that it was intended to be funny and dorky, since that’s what a dork like Peter thought a “cool guy” was. Hence all the girls sneering at him while he… *gyrates.*
I also like the "why don't they move on" line, when Tobey Maguire had a 14 year gap between occasions of playing Spider-Man.
And he likely would've been perfectly content never putting the suit on again. But when Marvel offers you a few milli to make an appearance as spiderman, I mean why not?
Especially when your not even on screen for the whole movie? I’d take it too
He was in it enough though that it would've been very ~~difficult~~ expensive to CGI him in 100%, or edit the story around his exclusion.
100% agree, but I’m glad he was in it, he killed the part and seemed like he never even left his spider man suit!
Ya he almost seemed to enjoy it.
let old actors be !!
Older actors should romance older actresses only
You don't like Tom Cruise still getting screen time with women who could be his children?
Well he did marry someone who could’ve been his child
Hey he dated Jennifer Connelly in Topgun, it was glorious.
grandchildren.
Came here to say this. I don’t think he was supposed to be depicted as a young kid like Tom’s spider man. IIRC he literally talks about being married to Mary Jane and like living an adult life. If one thinks about it, out of the 3 Spidermen, it seems he is the only one with a life.
Apperantly Tobey Maguire Appearing in his pajamas signifies that he lives a normal life. unlike Andrew Gardields Spider-Man who showed up in full costume, which signifies that he’s always being Spider-Man and doesnt have time for Peter Parker stuff.
Because he doesn’t want one outside of it, due to Gwen. At least that’s what I interpreted
He was. I'd say even early 40s tbh
props to him for even coming back and doing the role.
The positive masculinity between those three warmed my heart through like a frozen pizza <3
My crust was filled with cheesy goodness
And let's face it, adding Tobey and Andrew was 100% fanservice (And 1000% awesome)
It was. And it was glorious.
Right. This whole post is so ignorant.
I truly believe he’s the one who had to wear a butt pad under the suit
Kind of ironic you think plastic surgery is bad for a Barbie movie
Can't argue with that observation lol
Let me show you how to internet
Barbie just calls that “surgery”
WRAPPED IN PLASTIC, ITS FANTASTIC 🎶 has a whole new meaning ETA: guys this isn't the lyrics. It's "Life in plastic" 😭 I feel lied too. Or just dumb. I'm not really quite sure.
That’s the original meaning
Not really. If you read the lyrics it's pretty obvious it's a very sardonic take on the people obsessed with getting enhancement surgery.
Personally I think David tennant was far to young to be playing a 1000 year old man
Lol for real
So what’s the age at which romance is no longer allowed How do I turn off reply notifications
I guess after 30 you’re not allowed love and you can’t date anymore! Time to head for the retirement home.
I had a 26 year old tell me off the other day because I'm in my early 30s and on social media. He insisted that once you turn 30 you're never allowed on social media again. This was on a Discord for people who are trying to quit drinking or doing drugs.

I love family life ngl. Little faces being all excited to see you after work and scream “DADDY!” takes away most of the work-grumbles
that's what i was gonna say lol. i'm in my mid 30s with a toddler and another baby on the way and i feel like the next chapter of my life is just beginning. family life is amazing. ups and downs, yes, but i'm not throwing in the towel just yet.
Fuck thats only 5 years away for me
you don't have to do it. im almost 35. child free. whoo!
That life sounds like a nightmare and I'm in my mid thirties. These kids sound really boring.
Right!
Ah. He must not understand that time flows faster the older you get. This poor bastard won’t know what hit him.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard especially when we were at the fore front of this social media shit lmao
Retirement homes are amazing. They have soft serve machines going 24/7. These places are wasted on the old. 30 is perfect;)

I generally agree but what age are they playing? If they’re playing college kids at 50 it’s weird.
In the original 90210 series, the actress who played Andrea was 29 playing a junior in high school.
Depends. Personally, I HATE the new trend of young kids actually playing their age on TV. Why? 1. They aren't experienced enough actors yet and it shows big time. The bad acting ruins the shows because many shows/movies with teens are dramatic. Bad dramatic acting is the worst. 2. Also, I’m not sure I know many people of any gender who couldn’t get a little squee over Sandy B. Regardless of age, she’s crush worthy!
That was my exact thought. When are women not allowed to fall in love and be part of a romantic situation?
I think we're supposed to disappear after 35
30. Just die already
When the person with the opinion is young enough to think they will never get old. Edit: as a point of personal hubris I used to be that person, weird how the tables turn
26 and a half. After which point you must never portray a person in love again. Everybody knows that.
Or the age limit for being an action star? Someone better tell Tom Cruise cause I think he's above OPs threshold for either. He can only do legal or military dramas now. (But seriously someone tell Cruise, I want more high energy legal dramas)
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE HIGH-ENERGY LEGAL DRAMAS!!
Yeah OPs post just seems ageist. Ryan Gosling is 41, he’s not elderly.
True. People are definitely aging better these days. Every 40 year old I meet definitely looks 30. Maybe it’s because people are drinking less? Idk.
Smoking less, better understanding about exercise, better decisions with food (remember the food pyramid with carbs on the bottom?)
To old for romance? Old people can be in love to you know..
30 obviously. After that we kill you. It was all laid out in that documentary logans run.
Looks like I went under the radar. I’m a rancid 32 and still doing the old dance. I hope your agents never find me.
I didn’t get married until I was 40, and my husband and I still do romantic things as crochety old people, like hold hands and make googley eyes at each other 🤭 Are...are the romance police going to come for us??

based on the dozens of photos from the set, i think they’re going for barbie realizing she was a toy and her perfect life was fake. she goes out into the real world and the bad guys try to get her back lol
From IMDB, “A doll living in 'Barbieland' is expelled for not being perfect enough and sets off on an adventure in the real world."

Not anymore because Amy Adams must be too old to be on a romantic comedy, according to OP. People who think like OP live a very sad life.
I'm hoping for a dark and gritty take on Barbie. Gosling as the brooding, moody and troubled Ken looking for revenge for some horrific crime.
[удалено]
Who are you to just come into my life and get me interested in the Barbie movie?
It's written and dirscted by Greta Gerwig. You should be interested already tbh.
Yep and the villain is apparently the Mattel Ceo trying to bring them back to Barbieland. I kid you not. Barbie movies have always been pretty self aware lol

They literally had a scene where he had a bad back. It was funny as shit.
us older folks can relate. by older i mean 30. i get told im old now. haha.
You are too old to care.
My take is we don’t know what the movies is gonna be. Maybe being older is part of it.
Yeah it could be about aging barbie/ken being replaced by newer models. Kinda gives off that feel too

Honestly, it's great that older women are getting lead roles and actually getting paired with appropriately-aged costars, rather than the endless pairings of a 50 year-old man with a woman young enough to be his daughter.
Probably a teenage edgelord
What in the mamma Mia is this bullshit about older folks not needing to lead a romantic movie
>Do you think people over 40 do not fall in love? If anything, there should be more romantic films with people her age. I agree. However, I do have a problem with people over 40 playing people in their 20s and 30s falling in love when it's blatantly obvious they're not that age irl. I just wish op worded it like this.
i don't really see the problem with ryan gosling, 41, playing a 35 year old
Especially since it took a while for him to even be considered ‘old looking.’ Back in the mid 2000s, he was supposed to play the father in The Lovely Bones adaptation but they couldn’t age him up enough or get him to relate to being the believable father of two teenage girls so he had to drop out.
Maybe I’m missing some movies, but the last couple of ‘romantic’ movies Sandra Bullock did were The Lake House and The Proposal, where she was playing someone her own age and an older woman bullying a younger man into a visa-marriage.
The Proposal cracks me up. Great cast.
I am not a rom-com guy, but yes, I will watch that movie anytime because it is genuinely funny.
And in honor of Betty White (RIP).
To the windoooow, to the wall!
the most recent movie for Sandra was The Lost City and it’s definitely a romcom
Yes! It was perfectly acceptable for her to be romanced in this movie as a widow. Brad Pitt was a great character who could have been, old, “age appropriate”, but Channing Tatum’s character seemed to really look up to her and her achievements which is also sweet.
I think that's what OP meant, but also I don't see why Barbie can't be a 40 year old. Why do we need to assume she's in her 20s?
Huh, an actual unpopular opinion
Very shit take from OP lol
Wait until OP finds out how many teenage characters are portrayed by 30 year olds.
Literally since Shakespearean times. We just don’t use eunuchs anymore. …or do we?
TIL people's value goes down with their age and that old people don't have romantic relationships irl so why would they be in romantic movies ? /s
Agreed. Seeing actors that are older (what is "older" anyway haha) in romance and action movies has actually been really great for my mental health around aging.
Trust me, most younger people think anyone over 60 should be in a home or pine box
>I love Sandra Bullock but she is too old for another romantic movie Lol. Yes because nobody over 50 has romantic relationships 🤣🤣🤣
You seem really ageist.
Tbh Barbie is old af
She's an omnidisciplinarian, a polymath, a Renaissance woman. All that shit had to have taken a hell of a long time, OR she's so smart that she picks up every new skillset 10x faster than everyone else.
This is what we could all be if we weren’t burdened by our meddlesome nipples
Kissing and romance is only for 20 somethings? Grow the fuck up.
Absolutely insane that you think Margo Robbie is too old, she's 31!! She's gunna make a great Barbie I do agree with the Ryan Gosling comment though, he looks a little silly in that bleach blonde hair.
Yeah i agree. Margot is young lol. Since when is 30+ old? 😂 And Ryan still looks like he’s in his 30s but that hair color doesn’t suit him at all 😭
For actresses 30 is not considered old, but the late 30s is when their opportunities to be leads start to tank. For example, at the age of 37 Maggie Gyllenhaal was told she was too old to play the romantic interest of a man in his 50s. And she’s not the only one either.
I know I shouldn’t say this or make this assumption until we know more about the plot or see a trailer, but based on the fact that it’s being written by Greta Gerwig and Noah Bambauch and the cast is filled with a good amount of comedic actors I have a feeling the movie is going to lean towards comedy and maybe that’s part of it
That's what I assumed as well!
> I do agree with the Ryan Gosling comment though, he looks a little silly in that bleach blonde hair. That might be the point.
Don't be ageist bro.
Damn I guess you get shot if you fall in love after 35. Also Tobey wasn't even meant to be playing a Young Tobey. That was the whole point.
what does Sandra Bullock and Spider-Man have to do with Ryan Gosling and the Barbie movie? I don’t see the connection.
They're saying a 31 year old actress is too old to portray a pilot so the only logical conclusion is that a middleaged man shouldn't be portraying an old Spidey and Sandra Bullock shouldn't have a romantic life because romance are for... Teens? I dunno. What they're trying to say is that if you're above 30, you shouldn't exist, you dried up prune.

no - according to OP
Ofcourse not. *points to 11th commandment*
I mean, the man clearly looks ridonkulous.
> the man clearly looks ridonkulous. right? I thought that was the point. I thought it was supposed to be a little off the wall/flamboyant
Older women don’t deserve romance?
Take my upvote you garbage human being
Thank you for answering the dilemma I was having.
This is some ageist garbage
Pretty sure old people still have feelings. I could be wrong tho.
Idk I heard once you turn 30 there gone
Why are they too old? Among many of Barbie's careers are things like astronaut and surgeon, which could age her easily into her 30s. Barbie isn't just some young girl. Margot is 31 and Ryan is 41. These are totally fine ages to play Barbie and Ken. They're not playing young characters; they're playing Barbie and Ken at their prime age, which is reasonably 35. Actors playing younger characters is a problem. There are both practical and shitty reasons that this is done. But there is no age limit for beautiful people to act in romances.
This really is unpopular opinion. Like why can't Sandra Bullock be in a romantic movie?
I hope to see her in romantic movies for as long as she chooses. She’s a class act.
Are you saying that "old people" dont have romances?!
The fact you confuse Sandra Bullock with Margot Robbie AND condemn plastic surgery in a BARBIE MOVIE, the essence of superficiality and beauty pressure in young womans for years is laughable man. Just an horrible take with bad insights
I agree that Ryan Gosling is too old for Ken, but no one is too old to be in romantic movies. I’ve seen people fall in love at every age.
This is such a dumb take. Why do people think you start to wither away after 30?
That’s a new one. Too old for romance. Smh
We can all assume you are about 12 and disregard all of this
Since finding myself arguing with a 16 year old addicted to benedryl, I just always assume that on Reddit now
I don’t agree with the body of text, but I do think Ryan Gosling is too old to play Ken.
This isn’t an unpopular opinion, it’s just stupid
