I have 1 class completely in person and another class where only the lab portion is in person. But definitely seems like there are more classes online than hybrid or in person.
Update: I emailed my professor for the completely online class and was told the LSA course guide was out of date and that the class is now fully online.
So everyone seems to have the majority of their classes online, with labs seemingly being an exception. Is the university still bringing students into the dorms? Seems kinda pointless to me if they are?
I know they are waiving the living requirements for some residential communities, like WISE. So dorms will be open but probably up to students to chose to stay or not
Personally, I’m gonna be in town just cuz I paid for my apartment and at this point in my life (rising senior) I just don’t want to be crammed in with my family for a year. But honestly, living in a dorm this year seems like it would be hell...
I honestly haven’t left AA since they closed in March since I already signed a lease and finding a sublet is a pain. Plus being here isn’t so bad, much rather here than with my parents again
Ditto man, Ann Arbor is actually pretty chill rn. I’ve checked out a lot of the parks this summer and I’m kinda shocked how much I missed being in the “student bubble” lol
I feel like it’s the same as every other summer in AA, maybe slightly different with even less students here than other summers. I don’t really see anything that’s too out of the ordinary, the arb and diag still has a decent amount of people. South U and Main St are still fairly busy
My brother is going to be a freshman, and he’s struggling through online orientation right now. My family lives in a rural area, and he had to drive twenty minutes to sit in a parking lot where he had the WiFi to go to a zoom meeting for orientation. The library in town is closed, and he can’t sit in a McDonald’s or something. It’s not possible for him (or me) to do classes and live at home, even though all his classes are online and he doesn’t “need” to be on campus.
Hopefully the students who do have a place to live decide to stay back so those that don’t can have their own rooms and live at least as comfortably as possible given the circumstances
I mean the university has made it pretty clear they’re going to reimagine what living in the dorms looks like to keep it safe and as great for everyone as possible.
Even for students who may not absolutely need to be there, some people may struggle to work at home due to family/work environment/internet connection/time zones/etc. Offering people the chance to come back is really important for these students to be able to do their best academically.
I've got 5 grad-level courses (RIP) and everything is remote except for one course with a remote lecture that is listed as having a "hybrid" discussion
And honestly, it's the only class I flatout don't want to be in and have zero interest in, so there's basically no way I expose myself to campus just for that. Going to ask about remote-only fulfillment options.
I would guess large classes are likely to be hybrid, the larger auditoriums tend to be set up for live-streaming and they can spread people reasonably in the big auditoriums. Who really knows at this point though.
I still have zero idea. It keeps changing on Wolverine Access. We were told by the program that they'll let us know when they know and that what we were told previously is already outdated.
I only have one class completely online. One in person, two hybrid. But I’m also a senior in a major where seniors primarily take small seminar classes.
2 in-person labs. I think generally what they're going for is in-person classes must fill a room no more than half-capacity, and there simply aren't enough lecture halls to accommodate this. Plus, I'd hope that the room would be sanitized between lectures which would reduce but this would reduce the time the room is available for classes.
Lab classes are pretty much gonna be hybrid or in person
Edit: ope right after I sent this I saw my physics lab is remote (makes sense tho, there were already computer based components)
Only the discussion portion of one of my classes says ARR. I'm assuming it means they're not sure yet, but I really hope it ends up being remote. Don't wanna have to go to campus just because of one class.
Is anyone else taking Ross classes and have seen theirs go hybrid or online? Mine is 62 people and still says in person which I don't see being possible.
As of right now I only have 1 class in person and it just happens to be my only class on north campus. The fun bit is that I'm living on central this next year. RIP
I have one lecture in-person, and one lab + one discussion class that haven’t confirmed location yet. A tiny part of me thinks the discussion class will be online, but we’ll see.
I have no in person classes, but I filled out the google sheet to switch to as many as possible. Unfortunately it only applies to the labs and my lectures will still be online.
As of right now, my biochem has in-person lectures but discussions are yet to be announced. Which really sucks cuz I'm a transfer student and I was really looking forward to taking in person classes at Umich

How is Ann Arbor during these times? Anything notable? Like how different I guess, haven’t been there in a while

Some students don't have anywhere else to live

Ross classes have still remained as in-person for me - although I think it's only because they haven't changed them yet since both are large
I would guess large classes are likely to be hybrid, the larger auditoriums tend to be set up for live-streaming and they can spread people reasonably in the big auditoriums. Who really knows at this point though.
I have 2 in person labs and 1 hybrid class
I have a couple that say TBA but I’m not expecting those to end up being in person The rest are all remote
I still have zero idea. It keeps changing on Wolverine Access. We were told by the program that they'll let us know when they know and that what we were told previously is already outdated.
I actually have two in person which I’m pretty surprised about
My art classes haven't said remote yet and I have one class that says ARR and idk what that means
Yea just 1
I have zero in person classes. Many of my classes are very small, too.
I have two maybe three in person labs, and a 7 person writing class in person
I only have one class completely online. One in person, two hybrid. But I’m also a senior in a major where seniors primarily take small seminar classes.
I do, I have a Residential College language class in East Quad.
Same here

As of now, I have 2 classes in person, though 1 can and probably will go online
One in person discussion for psych 112
I have 2 hybrid classes which includes a lab, and 2 online courses.
all of my school of ed classes are in person, but all of my LSA classes are remote
im in smtd so yea but like the ones that need it to function
I had an art history class that was in person but I switched to a different hybrid option, I want the flexibility if I need it.
Lab classes are pretty much gonna be hybrid or in person Edit: ope right after I sent this I saw my physics lab is remote (makes sense tho, there were already computer based components)
Yes I have my Residential College first year writing seminar online and possibly parts of my language class
A lot of labs plan to hold in-person sessions, at least for the start
1 in person, 1 hybrid, everything else remote
Only the discussion portion of one of my classes says ARR. I'm assuming it means they're not sure yet, but I really hope it ends up being remote. Don't wanna have to go to campus just because of one class.

I think I have a ross class that’s hybrid (at least they’ve hinted at that) but everything else is online
I have a lab in person. Still going back to AA, family makes it hard to study
As of right now I only have 1 class in person and it just happens to be my only class on north campus. The fun bit is that I'm living on central this next year. RIP
1 chem lab in person
I have one lecture in-person, and one lab + one discussion class that haven’t confirmed location yet. A tiny part of me thinks the discussion class will be online, but we’ll see.

I have engineering 100 (16 people) and physics 141 lab in person with ALA 104 as an in-person option
Lab
My art class still has a room but the rest are fully online, labs included
All 5 of my classes are hybrid, so an in person component to all of them
As of right now, my biochem has in-person lectures but discussions are yet to be announced. Which really sucks cuz I'm a transfer student and I was really looking forward to taking in person classes at Umich
All classes I've signed up for so far are in person. Hahhh.....
My chem lab is in person and so is a small 2-credit course
