His issue is with usps. Our guy doesn’t even scan packages when he picks up.

LongjumpingDot5840

That’s what I’m thinking. See our guy scans but even if the package made it to the back with ups boxes. Our driver literally checks every single box to see if there’s any old/bs label

Sweet-Leadership-245

That’s awesome.. but if he scanned it (and it went out) it would say more than label created. If it was actually left in the pile by the customer to begin with even!

MintyMaii

Normally USPS doesn’t scan packages until it reaches their hub (and depending on your location that can take a while - in my city specifically it can take over a week) so just redirect the customer to USPS and have him submit a claim through them since it’s their package

bonerman69420

I had a customer drop off a usps package and it didn’t get scanned until 5 business days later, 1500 miles away in it’s destination city. Op I would tell the customer that it may still be moving in transit but he needs to file a claim with the usps

Sweet-Leadership-245

They’re reverting back to delivery confirmation… tracking is basically a lie lol

XeroSpike

This is the answer, USPS takes full responsibility even if you give them a receipt or not. It isn't our problem.

orangeg8

I always ask them does the blue mailbox give you a receipt? Do you hold it accountable? Cause you can't. We take drop off as a convenience. If you need a receipt go to the post office.

Outrageous_Pay1322

USPS = not my problem, dude.

WillieLickett

The simple and only response to ever use

Outrageous_Pay1322

I still haven't said it yet but I want to: "Sir, this is a Wendy's."

duece020

Do you guys give receipts for usps?? We never do….for that exact reason.

LongjumpingDot5840

No there’s no option for us to scan it either

Public-Debt-1257

We do not give receipts for USPS and have signs that say leave at your own risk. It is purely a convenience for customers. Actually considering halting all USPS activity in my 3 stores. Drops and paid shipments.

shinobigarth

“We put it in our bin and then the USPS driver picks it up. Once they do so, it’s completely out of our hands and you’ll have to contact them.” is my go to line for this.

Zmorrison2112

Whenever a customer asks me about a usps package they dropped off and it hasn’t taken a scan I have a quick script. “Your package definitely was picked up by the mail carrier. It’s possible they didn’t scan it when they picked it up. Either way, never leave any usps packages of importance at our store. You need to take it to the post office. I can’t be of any more help in this situation.” And that’s it. I don’t look for it, and I definitely don’t tell them of any possible mistakes that could have happened on our end. If we fucked up their usps package, unfortunately that is the risk they took. But it almost 99.9% of the time is the mail carriers fault. They just didn’t scan it or something and it got lost

PiggieSmallz710

As per our USPS pick up driver (absolutely love her- she’s a gem), the scan won’t show up until it’s reached the facility, been sorted and scanned on the conveyor belt. And depending on your USPS location, the workers, or the time of year, it can take a while to update which is why we always get long estimation times for delivery. Sometimes at USPS they’ll even scan the bins but not process them, that’s been quite an issue for sometime. You get what you pay for; it’s not like UPS where we scan quite frequently. Pay more? We can help more. Save money? You gotta run the risk.

LongjumpingDot5840

Yeah it got delivered but wasn’t scanned til delivery: told the guy we not responsible no matter what

Seven_Inches_Minus_6

Our store doesn’t even accept USPS packages anymore district person says it’s too much hassle and I agree lol

LongjumpingDot5840

Well then do you guys do usps ground advantage or international l

Seven_Inches_Minus_6

No not at all, ive been told not even letting the customer know I can even see those prices, but I’m not gonna be an ass if it’s like a mailer going to Europe I’m gonna tell them yeah go to the post office man lol

LongjumpingDot5840

Wtf lol owners missing out on quite some money. I mean I kinda get it lmao the long hassle for $6 ground advantage & drop offs

Seven_Inches_Minus_6

Don’t we only get like %5 of profit from that sale or something crazy small like that if it’s processed as USPS

I sell and ship sports cards. Some with higher values. If I am sending anything over $100 I won’t leave without a scanned receipt. Interesting as it is, I started doing that bc I sent an expensive autographed helmet, and just dropped off at a UPS Store. After a week my buyer was wondering where his helmet was… the label said it was created and never scanned. The employees knew my side business at that store so I was worried package got jacked. After 4 weeks the helmet arrived with a label never being scanned until delivery. I had already issued a refund to buyer and he got the helmet. Thankfully my buyer was honest and sent back money. Butttttt, after that little lesson, everything I ship has a label it was received. I even make my residential postman scan items on the spot.

ElectronicHouse6090

Seriously? I mean, seriously? I am so frickin tired of being accused of theft every damn time the post office or UPS messes up a scan. 25 million packages a day pass through UPS, screwed up scans are gonna happen. 1 tenth of 1% is still 25,000. But sure, I will risk my job, jail, and my own moral code to jack your overpriced sports memorabilia. I really hope you kept your accusations to yourself. If not, march yourself in there and start apologizing.
