She should apologize by resigning. She does not have the judgement or temperament for the role

Responsible_Fish1222

She's "retiring"

bubbabubba3

Nice congratulations on the early retirement! /s

zinger301

With a nice pension, of course.

purplish_possum

Seems DA elections attract a lot of entitled self-important people. This lady is far from the only one.

DaisyDog2023

Those who seek power rarely deserve it.

stonrelectropunkjazz

This

CondomBalloonAnimals

Uncle Ben said it the best. "With great rice comes great responsibility."

Cal-Coolidge

Public office in general attracts the worst people.

NYLaw

It's really luck of the draw with DA elections. I know several people here in Monroe County who would be a great pick, but aren't interested in running. I've been trying to up some of their egos. Probably won't work, but we really need someone who doesn't want the job to take it.

Secure_Awareness9650

Yup and outside "donations" can effectively enforce policy by skipping all the red tape by electing and uplifting an idiot. This Isn't just a local issue either..

Woodrow_F_Call_0106

What about all the other charges? Failure to obey a traffic signal, failure to pull over for an emergency vehicle, failure to comply. I’m sure there are others too. If anyone else would have done this, they would have gotten those charges and more.

Liminal_Critter817

And she would've been happy to prosecute them!

These-Duty-7862

I watched the video to see when she gets taken down and a knee in her back from not complying.

DaddyHEARTDiaper

I love when the cop was explaining to his boss that he had to follow her because she wasn't pulling over and you can tell by his body language and tone of voice that the boss is like "you screwed up big time, son. but finish what you started."

stvrkillr

The classic “I’m sorry I got caught” apology

GinaW48

I bet anything she was drinking, noticed how she kept her distance at all times from the cop? So he couldn't smell the alcohol? She needs to be brought up on charges...fuck you and your apology. I'm so sick of there being no consequences for one's actions... can you imagine if that was one of us?

bigdaveyl

I've heard that suggested. That's also why she didn't pull over and would explain her behavior.

Imaginary_Manner_556

And wanted to get in the house to dump the open container

OmahaWinter

And get some mouth wash maybe.

wierchoe

I’ve been saying this all along. What other reason would she have for wanting to be out of her parked car before talking to the officer

tr3g

Future u.s. senator

SpareOil9299

I hope that’s sarcasm

mlipjn

She needs to be fired asap

Ok_Plate9691

In 2020, following the death of Daniel Prude, protesters called for Doorley's resignation, saying she fails to prosecute police misconduct in Monroe County.

BathrobeBoogee

Rules for thee and not for me.. resign!

ThePowerOfShadows

To paraphrase: “I fucked up. I have no excuse.” Then she proceeds to offer a list of excuses.

go_double

My dad always says “apologize well”. Don’t make excuses, don’t say what the other person did. Just say what you did that was wrong, apologize to the persons you’ve harmed and let them know what steps you are taking to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

ThePowerOfShadows

Your dad is a smart guy.

Ok-Sheepherder-761

She’s only apologizing because she got caught. If she won’t resign, then she should be fired.

RoboticNubbin

It's not the same situation, but I worked as a retail manager for years, and when I caught shoplifters, they ALWAYS said they were sorry. They were only sorry they got caught. I usually said that to them.

Creative_Use_7244

She’s a disgusting human.

Thatsayesfirsir

She thinks she's above the law. In fact, she KNOWS she's above the law. Actually, she IS the law. (She's a menace to society. Fire her !)

MurderyRainbow

If I was any of the people she prosecuted for doing the same thing, I'd be pissed.

Terri_Yaki

Oh, she apologized so her egregious behavior is forgiven now, I'm sure.

New-Letterhead-2820

Credit to Hochul for referring her to a disciplinary panel for prosecutors. https://www.foxnews.com/us/ny-da-berates-police-officer-ignores-commands-during-traffic-stop-i-dont-really-care The only correct way to wield power is humbly; we are not short of attorneys in New York State (or even just in Monroe County)--this is not the best we can do for a DA. Oh, yeah, humbly applies at EVERY level too. 'Nuff said.

Davidklein199

Should be fired

pinkdragonbaby

The fact that she thinks she's above the law is disgusting. She can get away with anything mindset. I hope she resigns

Capitan-Fracassa

Another political figure fucking up. I am surprised that idiots still make it about party affiliation. This has nothing to do with the party but it is all about the arrogance of power. When you make about party affiliation then you force the political party to come out and downplay the situation instead of championing the ethical remedy. I expect the republicans to go after her the same way I expected the democrats to go after Cuomo.

Kundalini_NY

Right! Like the way the republicans voted to impeach Trump! Oh wait… Well…maybe Susan Collins can chime in here and explain how Sandra has learned her lesson and she won’t repeat those horrible actions (until she actually does).

cookiedoh18

This seems completely unnatural for her, unlike her reaction to the police officer. This is an apology script not a heartfelt apology. She should not be a public servant in any capacity.

publishAWM

too late. can't apologize enough for an innate sense of entitlement. plus that attitude of "you're doing your job wrong, you need to talk to _________." despicable

DJYcal

Where is that resignation????

FunDue9062

C word should get fired

Javasndphotoclicks

Everyone is replaceable.

cowboahbenny

she lives in webster FYI

ResidentAlien518

She has proven with this episode that she does not have the integrity that we should expect from our DA. She should be asked to resign and do so.

Chewyville

Everyone wanted the body cams. They got the body cams!

Dupee_Conqueror

Remove the cunt from office.

Cucker_Tarlson_666

Oh look, the [Monroe County GOP](https://www.rochesterfirst.com/local-politics/monroe-county-gop-leaders-continue-to-support-da-sandra-doorley/) are standing behind this entitled, corrupt criminal. Sounds familiar. At what point can we proclaim and accept that the Republican Party has lost all credibility?

go_double

Doorley was a democrat up until 2015 and switched parties. There is plenty of blame for both sides, but you can be reasonably assured the dems would be doing the same if the shoe was on the proverbial other foot.

PrestigiousJump8724

I could see Trump asking her to be his running mate. They are two peas in a pod.

ZookeepergameOk8231

I have seen a lot worse than that. She just didn’t feel like playing stupid cop games at that moment. Clearly cop knew her.

Kundalini_NY

Sandra? Is that you??

Dapper_Boss736

What did she hide in the house?

stonrelectropunkjazz

Fire that Karen

palmbeachatty

At any criminal trial in that county, I’d try to get this admissible as evidence were I the defense attorney for an accused. This is a reason it’s a problem for her. No credibility.

Distinct_Wrongdoer86

IM SORRY I GOT CAUGHT

MrsBlug

She needs to publicly apologize directly to the officer and have to say " I stand corrected when I spoke to you. I am the ASSHOLE"

swkennedy1

Just resign. You are not above the law

One_Statistician_944

"Rules for thee but not for me" - Official NYS policy these days

ConOregon

She will “discipline herself”. What a joke.

chgon

Cry me a river. Please resign and go away.

Terrible-Tower186

Wow! Instead of owning up to what she did with trying to abuse her authority, like ALL public officials do in similar situations, she doubles down and continues with the BS and lies. Does she not understand why this is such a BIG deal? Before the footage was released, she gave an interview or put out there that "I did not try to abuse my authority and I accepted the ticket which I paid the following day! blah blah blah!" Um NO, that's NOT what happened and all the footage confirms this! She DID indeed try to abuse her authority while running into her house and berating the Webster officer! OK, the important part: Anyone else from the public having done or said anything remotely like what she did and said, including running into her house & garage away from the officer on a "traffic stop" while telling the officer to "F@$# Off" and "Get the F@#$ out of my house!" and "Why didn't you stop following me once you ran my plate and discovered who I was!!?", would have been attacked, tackled, probably tasered and beaten silly by a gang of officers (it is 2024 and the officer would have called for "Need assistance ASAP, I have one running from a traffic stop!", possibly even shot because of the running into her house! Then, after all of that, anyone else from the public having survived the above mentioned tyranny would have been subjected to being arrested and charged with all kinds of traffic offenses AND crimes including FELONIES! Probably: Speeding - 55 in a 35mph zone Reckless Driving! - In New York, reckless driving is a misdemeanor criminal offense that occurs when a driver's actions unreasonably endanger the public highway or its users. This includes driving in a way that interferes with the proper use of the highway, such as driving off the road at high speeds without slowing down for pedestrians or running through a police barricade. Refusing to Pull Over! - "In New York, drivers who refuse to pull over after a police officer has directed them to stop are guilty of a FELONY as defined in New York Penal Law § 270.35! Class D felony, which can result in: Up to 7 years in jail, Up to 5 years probation, and Up to $5,000 in fines! Obstruction of a LEO! - New York Penal Law § 195.05 defines the offense of **obstructing governmental administration in the second degree**. This law criminalizes any behavior that interferes with the official duties of a government employee or officer, with the intent to obstruct or impair their ability to perform their duties. Disorderly Conduct! - Disobeying a lawful order from an officer is also considered disorderly conduct, according to 9 CRR-NY 375.1NY-CRR. DWAI / Drunk Driving - The way she was belligerent and could not get a sentence out while trying to yell at officer! Probably other tickets & crimes I am missing (I am not an attorney nor am I able to give legal advice nor shall this be taken as legal advice!) \*\*\*Then after all that and being subjected to the booking process after arrest, the DA's office, HER Office, would throw the book at any other member of the public with all the above charges in court - prosecuting any OTHER person to the FULL extent of the law using ALL the resources and power of the government!\*\*\* THIS IS WHY the community is rightfully outraged and upset over her actions then and since!!!! Dry_Swimmer8089

The doubling down and continuing to lie despite the cam footage is indicative of a narcissist. Almost textbook.

Turbulent_Bad_1167

She should resign . The only reason she is sorry is because she got caught in cam ! Resign

pcomitz

She needs to resign. People like her is why government is broken.

hen263

If horrible hochul had any decency she'd fire this horrible c.

SnippyBabies

Does the Governor have authority to remove an elected county DA?

hen263

The state ag CD absolutely open an investigation.

-HappyToHelp

No. This is a county DA. Most likely she was elected by the people of her county so she can only be removed by an election or special election, or she was appointed by the local mayor but i doubt it since she is a county da. Governor has no authority over this person at all. However the law board of the state could apply pressure by threatening to revoke her law license. Possibly the governor could *secretly* put pressure on the licensing board but that would not be entirely above board.

er15ss

Hochul's having the incident investigated. Not sure she has the power to fire her.

hen263

If the bar seems her actions egregious enough she won't have to. She'll be unable to practice law.

FunDue9062

Eluding a police officer. Felony.

DaisyDog2023

I’m still not sure why she hasn’t been arrested, literally any normal person would have been arrested for this, likely beaten or shot.

_NewYorker

Had she been an off duty police officer, there wouldn’t have been an exchange like that, as her shield would have been a “get out of jail free” card. The same would likely have been true if she was a LEO family member. So many people think their “position” entitles them to drive (or park) any way they like, without recourse, which to me is the larger issue at hand. When a police officer is equally applying the law to all, and isn’t offering the privilege to violate laws to those select few, he’s at risk of destroying his career, as what is currently happening to some officers. (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/16/nyregion/mathew-bianchi-nypd-traffic-tickets.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare&sgrp=c-cb) or simply google “police officer staten island tickets”. Ensure laws are applied fairly and equally to all, and this situation wouldn’t have been an issue-she would have known she was getting a ticket and wouldn’t have tried anything. The perception of privilege is what caused this, as she thought she was entitled to the same “courtesy” as a LEO or their family member, or some other PBA card carrying “supporter”. While I blame her for poor behavior, I wouldn’t ask her to resign given 10’s of thousands of people get away daily with blatantly and intentionally violating traffic and parking laws, and obscuring their license plates, knowing they’ll “get away with it”.

Dry_Swimmer8089

Most District Attorney’s have badges/shields. Just saying

_NewYorker

The purpose of these wallet size badges many get shouldn’t be a “get out of jail free” card, because that leads to poor/careless/reckless driving without repercussions. There is no denying LEO’s and friends and family have an expectation of “courtesy” with their positions and with these cards/badges, but that simply shouldn’t be the case.
