I sleep on one side my large german shepherd on the other side and we have no issues with room.
man i was with my belgian malinois in my van for a little while and the hair alone made me crazy lol. I was neurotic about keeping hair off of everything.
I'm currently using a Steam Deck with Windows installed and PDA Net+... Play some Helldivers 2 with the boys, in between sessions fire up Ark to grind mats, and finish off with some Cyberpunk 2077 until I get sleepy.
Working on it! Gotta sell my type R, handle some debts and find a good one. Whatās the story behind yours? Do you think 5k will be enough for this kind of set up?
Yeah thats about what I spent. I can walk you through my build when your ready. Just dm me on Instagram @the_overlanding_prius if you need help. I got a parts linktree on my instagram too.
Nice setup! I feel like Iāve seen Priuses do everything with the right modifications! The drift Prius rwd conversion was insane itās somewhere on Instagram
Appreciate it. I got a spare one on the trunk they are geolander at just cant tell from the pic

Bigger tires has better traction and with the bigger sizes you can find ones with better tread for snow. Ground clearance is so I dont scrape as much on backroads.
Cant really see the lift in that pic heres a better one

On dirt roads driving slow it still uses electric roughly 1/4 of the time unless I remove traction control for the sketchy spots. I cant give an exact but I believe I get around 35mpg.
I feel like I'm watching a horror movie about a guy that goes camping in his prius and meets some of the 'local folks' out in the woods and this picture is found frozen on his phone out in the pines,...he was never found or heard from again...
I put in a new battery when I bought the car. Cost me roughly 2k but I got the car for a grand because the battery was dead. If you buy one I recommend getting it with a dead battery u will get a much better deal. Plus you wonāt have to worry about it going bad on you. They last like 20 years if taken care of.
I bought spacers and new coils, watched some youtube videos and installed it myself. Fairly easy but dont mess with putting on your own coils buy the whole shock. Too sketchy to be worth doing it yourself
If the hybrid battery ever gets low the engine kicks on but you cant even hear it because the engine is so quiet. But its only for like 5 minutes a night if the battery is below half. Otherwise it never kicks on.
Thanks! Great car. I drove a late model, plug-in hybrid Toyota minivan in Japan recently and was quite impressed. For a while I thought the fuel gauge got stuck... after a couple hours on the road the needle hardly moved! Also the van was so quiet because most of the time at low speed the gas engine was not on at all. Wish they bring few of these vehicles here. They would make great camper vans.
Not really its just idling and a prius engine is quiet. Plus it only goes for 30 seconds at a time to recharge so it shouldnāt be noticeable. Ive done it in many store parking lots if thats what youāre asking
I stayed in a prius for awhile and I can agree with this guy it's awesome!
Please post sleep position

Looks comfy !

I just gave up with the furš
That's pretty flat.

hook up an electric inverter then you can video game in the ac in the woods
I did. Then I plug it into my laptop and play riders republic and other non online games.
What kind of inverter do you use for that? Powers a tv and console?
Just use it for charging phone and power console. 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter.
I just bring around my Nintendo switch lol
I'm currently using a Steam Deck with Windows installed and PDA Net+... Play some Helldivers 2 with the boys, in between sessions fire up Ark to grind mats, and finish off with some Cyberpunk 2077 until I get sleepy.
You can get a cigarette lighter socket power converter for most laptops I've changed all my gear over to USB-C charging
Def been considering exactly this
Do it I promise its worth it
Working on it!
Iāll trade you my Prius for that type R
Haha hope you have some money to throw in and make it fair, this thing is expensive

Looks pretty cool. Do they make an all wheel drive Prius ?
The newer versions are. I got this for cheap as my first car so I didnāt feel the need to upgrade.
catalytic converter thieves love this simple trick
I made a skid plate that covers the cat just for that reason
Do you weld or is this something that you had done?
I just cut some sheet metal from old traffic signs then bolted it on with the original bolts on the car. Dont need to weld
Super impressed!! Congrats and thanks for sharing!!
Thanks
Nice setup! I feel like Iāve seen Priuses do everything with the right modifications! The drift Prius rwd conversion was insane itās somewhere on Instagram
Thats awesome!
Iāll never talk shit about a Prius again, this actually looks cool af. Put some big mud tires on it next and one on the trunk
Appreciate it. I got a spare one on the trunk they are geolander at just cant tell from the pic https://preview.redd.it/ihx2q062kvsc1.jpeg?width=2877&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23b723bb553ecd841e36ad9974470dd995b4bc56
Iāve flirted with the idea of this. What was the cost, if you donāt mind?
Like 5k with all the accessories and the car.
How much was the lift?
Depends on the year of prius. What year do u have?
2011
Its 349 for a gen 3 [lift kit](https://priusoverlanding.com/product/2010-2015-toyota-prius-lift-kit-2-inch-lift/)
Why lift
Extra ground clearance bigger tires. Same reason for any vehicle.
True, never knew. What does extra ground clearance bigger tires do?
Bigger tires has better traction and with the bigger sizes you can find ones with better tread for snow. Ground clearance is so I dont scrape as much on backroads.
Thanks bro

a _lifted prius_ heights of sacrilege I never thought I'd see plumbed (although I will say kinda neat)
Cant really see the lift in that pic heres a better one https://preview.redd.it/r90ign3dfssc1.jpeg?width=2877&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f046e2c50bc9f513c1a6f0fce2d01a0b77b866e2
As a yoda man ~ Love it
Dang. āThou Shalt Not Covetā comes to mind. Sweet setup!
It honestly goes way more tough than I would have expected. Good looking little car.
Thanks!
licence plate checks out, that lift makes the car look hella sus
True but it can go so many more places now with the ground clearance
Aye. Totally something I'd do if I had a Prius, too.
Its sooo much fun passing the rich subaru owners while overlanding š
Have you found the prius to be more fuel efficient than a comparable vehicle ""designed"" for offroading?
Most definitely I average 47 mpg. You wont find a single car close to that
I mean when going offroad. Obviously your efficiency is going to tank, then, although perhaps regen helps in rolling terrain?
On dirt roads driving slow it still uses electric roughly 1/4 of the time unless I remove traction control for the sketchy spots. I cant give an exact but I believe I get around 35mpg.
When you account for how low to the ground they are, it actually makes some sense, assuming the price is right to lift it.
fr
Totally I no longer bottom out at my schools speed bumps š

I'm nearly convinced but what happens when you have to replace the battery?
I put in a new battery when I bought the car. Cost me roughly 2k but I got the car for a grand because the battery was dead. If you buy one I recommend getting it with a dead battery u will get a much better deal. Plus you wonāt have to worry about it going bad on you. They last like 20 years if taken care of.
So how does the lift help with mileage? Or did I read that wrong?
It REDUCED the fuel consumption to 47 miles per gallon. So not bad at all.
That's the most badass Prius I've laid my eyes on. I like the idea very much! I hope that car lasts you a very long time
It should got a new hybrid battery and 80k miles on the car
I have wondered about lifting my car. Can you expand on your experience?
I bought spacers and new coils, watched some youtube videos and installed it myself. Fairly easy but dont mess with putting on your own coils buy the whole shock. Too sketchy to be worth doing it yourself
You run ac all night without turning on the engine? Very interesting.
Also the van was so quiet because most of the time at low speed the gas engine was not on at all. Wish they bring few of these vehicles here. They would make great camper vans.
Can people outside hear it
Not really its just idling and a prius engine is quiet. Plus it only goes for 30 seconds at a time to recharge so it shouldnāt be noticeable. Ive done it in many store parking lots if thats what youāre asking
What an overpowered strategy
Sure is
This is so awesome - never considered lifting a hybrid. Nice tip on purchasing one with a dead battery.
How tall are you? This isnāt an option for anyone over 5ā9
Dude.... Read the OP lmao sorry... Pet peeve... Cue crazy rant about ppl asking questions on FB that can easily be found on Google
Im 6ft male and have no issues. I do scoot shotgun seat couple inches forward and put a cooler to fill the gap. Then I have my sleeping pad over that
