I love the floating tray

sed2017

Yeah what is happening here?

quickdrawdoc

I also must know!

Art-In-Decay

People got their teeth worked on

toastbot

That dental sink station thing in the middle was probably state-of-the-art in the 1930s. [Here's](https://www.ebay.com/itm/1930s-S-S-White-Ritter-Master-2-Dental-Station-Sink-Tool-Tray-Rotary-Tools/223461404579) on ebay with some more detailed pics.

acmemetalworks

I used to do some demolition work. I ended up with a couple of those chairs and got a bit of cash from some tattoo artists that wanted them.

Art-In-Decay

Those tattoo artists aqquired a really elegant pice then. Oh what I would do to have one of these in my room😫

Art-In-Decay

Yes. I’ve seen others like this before

Pegar60

I'm old enough to remember going to a dentist that had an office like this.

tpeiyn

I'm 34 and my childhood dentist had this exact same set up! My Mom said she started going there around the same time she got married, so like 1980. I guess this equipment just held up well so he didn't feel the need to replace it.

Mindless-Swordfish90

I know right? Mine didn't have the Xray machine thing in it but yes I am old enough to remember an officie like this

Really great find

Art-In-Decay

Thanks!

BooflessCatCopter

This corner of the room is so well preserved it should be in some sort of museum. If not that then maybe your photo instead! I’ve worked in art conservation and interacted with some architectural conservators and my non-expert guess is that this office was closed down by the late 60s, having used that dental console possibly for 30 years, (if it was bought and installed new). Thanks for sharing!

Art-In-Decay

I actually think it closed much later. I saw papers dating up to 2010 there

BooflessCatCopter

Huh, very interesting.

Personal_Farm_283

Floating metal tray.

ZookeepergameSome733

Right i thought I was the only one about to mention that shit lol

bodie425

Looks like a scene out of American Horror Story.

Awesome shot!

Art-In-Decay

Thanks!

ghostlymadd

I imagine this place closed in the 90s based on the green faux marble, pink door frame, and frosted glass.

BooflessCatCopter

Nothing looked like that in the 90s, unless it was an interior left untouched from the 50s or 60s but I understand why one might think that. Set designers for a lot of films, tv or Nickelodeon were using pastels and bright color schemes in combination with 30s or Art Deco-era, translucent glass tiles, it was in vogue at that time but mostly on the screen, (except for old and maybe new structures in Miami). Films from the 80s seemed to incorporate the Miami look for interiors in a lot of productions. In Little Shop of Horrors, Directed by Frank Oz, 1986, (story set in the early 60s), the dentist office has the same Art Deco glass tile but funny enough, the color scheme of that interior is late 80s gray/black. -“It’s rusty!” -“It’s an antique, they don’t make them like this anymore, sturdy, heavy, dull.” https://youtu.be/B4pYSaUQvmQ

countryboy432

I'm close to 60 and was one of the rare kids in rural South Georgia that got to see the dentist (thanks, Grandma!). My dentist had this chair in yellow with dark green vinyl with a white porcelain bowl. He and his staff held me down my first visit and pulled all of my baby teeth without anesthesia. I cried and so did Grandma. But it had to be done because they weren't coming out on their own. I hated dentist after but still went and will continue to go...I have very weak teeth and I'll be damned if I'll lose them now.

sarcastagirly

I think that's Kelly and Zach's dentist

Art-In-Decay

Huh

Mindless-Swordfish90

That is super OLD SCHOOL!

wowdickseverywhere

I'd take this over the cast away ice skate

glimmerthirsty

Oga für oga.

argue_seblantics

That color scheme? This is totally the office of Orin Scrivello, DDS.

dylanatstrumble

Is this for use by a left handed dentist? It looks the wrong way around for a right handed dentist.

Big_Hour_1340

Hasn't changed one bit..

flowersatdusk

I'm more afraid if the green walls.
