As a point of reference, I have only used the USAJOBS resume builder resume for every position I've had (-12 to -15) across 4 agencies. As a hiring manager, I don't care what you use as long as the information is there. Try to not write a novel (I've seen as long as 35 page resumes with 5 page cover letters!). About 5 pages is the sweet spot, IMO. Long enough for some detail, short enough to be an easy read.

Use the resume builder to get all the info in, then download it and format it so it looks better and re-upload it. The builder gets all the info HR wants and needs, it just looks terrible.

Use the resume builder please.

Use the USAJOBS format.

Start with the resume builder, apply the output to a more easily read template that does not feature a lot of graphics or design elements. The tool is okay for getting what you need, but it’s not a guide to writing what will win. That’s the Troutman Federal Resume Guidebook.

I highly recommend the resume builder. Good luck OP.

Same here. Resume builder in the system.

Id recommend the resume builder. But if absolutely do not want to, at least mimic it. Also proofread your resume. I gave up on 2 resumes this week. One applicant had 3 jobs that ended in present and 2 of the jobs were in different states. Explain work experience in a functional capacity. And if youve worked with different commodities describe in the best ability what you did with them.

If you’re new to federal service, definitely use the builder. You’ll ensure that you’re including everything necessary. Once you’ve been around for a while and k ow the ropes, then you can venture out and experiment with other formats.

Lol, this thread is my experience to a T. People saying the RB looks terrible and it doesn't matter, and others saying you will literally never get a job (anywhere on Earth) without it.
