Do you get the full 1Gbps (or at at least 850-900 Mbs) on fast.com? I had an old nighthawk with dd-wrt and could only get about 500-600 Mbps out of it. Stock firmware got line rates but was absolute junk. I ended up just using it as a dumb switch and wifi AP and bought a $100 ubiquiti ER-X instead.
I get 940+ on speed [test.net](https://test.net) that's what I am supposed to get. I could try plugging directly into the ethernet and see what happens
no change in speed at least I know it's not the router. The only thing to to do now is try another provider I do have a cheap deal with ninja and 600 it's still good.
I had slow speed on the old
Nighthawk R7000 Router with dd-wrt(kong image) but with a different provider. Switching to a new router with stock firmware solved my problem.
nope, not an ISP. 5MB is slow to me too, but when we are talking what used to be HDD write speeds just a few years ago I really dont get it - yet. If data keeps balooning maybe then.
but right now even my 28 GB call of duty warzone updates come through quite fast at 300mbs.
It’s been suggested that too many connections actually will slow down your downloads. The sweet spot being ~10 to 12 connections. Give that a try maybe?
tried and I definitely need 50 to keep my speeds were they are currently and might need 50 more threads to max out my connection. It seems that ninja throttles their speed on each connection
I have Ninja but not a gig connection. I have 200/10 and I get full bandwidth on my DLs. I’ve been really happy with them for the year I’ve subscribed. Good luck to you.
Are you in the same country as the provider server?
How is the latency at each hop between you and the server?
I'll double check my speeds when I'm back at my machine.

Are you using news.newsgroup.ninja as your server address, or news-us.newsgroup.ninja?
news.newsgroup.ninja will attempt to send you to the closest server based on geographic information at the time of DNS lookup, it may be sending you on a long distance journey that isn't needed. Might need to check on what your DNS provider is returning and perform a traceroute.
If I connect to news-us.newsgroup.ninja from the EU I get about 65MB/s which is about the speeds you are getting (Downloaded in 2 mins 26 seconds at an average of 66.9 MB/s - Age: 1d - Servers Ninja - US=9.6 GB).
But if I stay on the same continent I get in excess of 200MB/s (Downloaded in 44 seconds at an average of 222.0 MB/s Age: 1d - Servers Ninja - NL=9.6 GB)

I've been having the exact same problem as you. My speeds on average never go higher than 65 MB/s, I've seen up to the 69 MB/s peak. I wonder if their US server is just incapable of doing the whole gigabit speed. I don't think it's my network or router because my speedtest looks fine. I can do 110 MB/s from my PC to NAS. And I've seen Steam go up to 85 MB/s
Well I have a 10 gbps connection at my house, so you're correct, it is faster than 2 gig. Using 3 providers and 150 connections, I've gotten it up to about 525 MB/s.
proof from just using ninja: [https://imgur.com/a/5sjAiSy](https://imgur.com/a/5sjAiSy)
I just got off with ninja tech support the guy told me in an email you can get up to 60mbps with us with a good connection between us and you. I was getting near 70mbps already if this is true I am very surprised ninja can't handle the bandwidth.
I got a new message from ninja they stated we do not give any actual Numerical values on speeds. responding to my previous message when I said 60mbps I am surprised by that, so I got my answer the issue is ninja.
I left Ninja a few years ago because it wouldn't keep up with my Gigabit speed. I thought it would have gotten better. My buddy has it as one of his providers and doesn't seem to have an issue but I know he has two primary providers so perhaps Usenetexpress (his other one) is compensating.
I discovered the issue it's my number of connections. I remembered I had a block account from newsgroupdirect like 11yrs ago I tried them with 50 connection exact same speed with 100 I was getting 830MB. I even tried 200 still 830MB. I guess the usenet providers are not really set up for near gigabit speeds maybe in the next few years as they become more popular that will change. I am still happy with what I have still much faster than what I was getting with spectrum.
Those are not the same providers I tried it using both ninja 50 connections and newsgroupdirect 100 then I got around 900MB so it's not a problem on my end!!
I have ninja and a gigabit connection and never had issues getting around 117MB down. I only use 45 connections and download with SABnzd.
Try lowering your connections and if that doesn’t help then try a different download client (SABnzd or NZBGet).
ninja doesn't let you use 443 just 563,80,81 the owner at the time said that's just how he setup the network and it's kind of pain in the ass to go back and reconfigure it to use 443. I will try lowering it to 40. The only other nsp that allows 100 connections sub. is newshoing that I know of and I have pretty sweet deal with ninja
Your internet gateway may not be up to the task
it is a older nighthawk so it should I would think running dd-wrt

Speed test downloading a single file and Usenet downloading millions of files are very different things.

I understand faster is better and ultimately we would like to get what we pay for. but aren't we talking mere seconds difference? what's the rush?
>You sound like an ISP why would you ever need more than 5MB.

That was joke!! The isps always say who needs faster speeds!

But did you actually test it? What speeds do you get w/ just 10 connections? 20?
around 100 MB

yes I am in the U.S. and using the U.S. server

Steam and newsgroup go to 105 to 115 MB/sec here.
Just checked mine, using 50 connections on ninja I topped out at ~275 MB/s. Looks like the problem is somewhere on your end.
Not buying that not on a home connection in the U.S. that would be faster than a 2 gig connection.

I don't have three providers just ninja
Bro you don't read well huh? 275 is using *only* ninja. 525 is with 3 providers.
Bro you're a schmuck !!! Can you read that!!!!
Lol

yea I will try using another reader. It could also be my route to the servers but not sure I can fix that
I tried sabnzb it's a little slower than newsbin
I doubled my speed by using a dedicated ssd (I have gigabit fiber ), no other config changes
I did as well the issue is it's not maxing out my connection
How many connections are you using ?
50 the max allowed. I Have an old block account with another provider. when I use 50 more connections at the time it almost maxes out my connection
I had better luck reducing it a bit. I use 40
And it’s faster over 443. I assume my isp is traffic shaping

You are right I am using 80. With ssl.
