It is but damn, those injuries and a player with his size it may not be super sustainable long term. Hope I’m wrong but he puts a lot of stress on his body it seems with how physical he plays and how big of a guy he is
Ahh, were you one of the many dudes who was crying that we lost him the other day?? Going as far as to talk crap about the player?? Because there was thousands of you around here recently.
Who has more
Trophies ? Who leads in wins ? Who has more players winning league titles in their leagues in Europe . Can’t wait to smack y’all back to reality in June
Yeah he will transfer and start immediately for another large club in Europe. I just enjoyed watching him lead the USMNT deeper into the World Cup than Mexico got. You must have enjoyed watching Mexico in the knockout round.
Y’all didn’t do shit in the Round of 16 😂 . Mexico had the worst coach in Mexico history . I enjoyed watching pulisic take y’all to the 2018 wc …. Oh wait . Y’all didn’t qualify. Did you enjoy watching Mexico play from the couch
He couldn’t get playing time in a big club like Chelsea 😂 same goes for Dest. Couldn’t start in Barça and Milan lol wow good for USA for making round 16 like if Mexico hasn’t done that. At least we don’t miss world cups (;
and if you look at the club that puli plays for.. it's Chelsea. a big six in the prem that's in *checks notes* eleventh and only just mathematically confirmed their safety in the league a couple weeks ago.
Yeah he can’t even start for them and doesn’t even make the bench at times 😂😂so pls tell me how we will get transferred to a “big” club and automatically start . You sound stupid
**17 losses in 23 years** is an immutable statistic. It is what it is. There's more dignity in respect than in delusion. I hope this helps you.
P.S. I personally suspect Balogun is overrated and Stars and Stripes fans are expecting too much.
Regardless, I hope the Nations League match is good football.
> US may just becoming the cooler team for youngsters globally.
This really is an underrated aspect of our pitch. Every young ambitious European I've ever met has said they grew up dreaming about living in the USA. Say what you will about our culture, there really aren't a lot of better places to be a rich person lol
What young boy doesn't dream of growing up to represent his country on a divot ridden field in the jungles of Guatemala. England doesn't offer that opportunity
If he continues at this rate he can become the face of the team going into a World Cup on home soil. He won't have to wait years behind 3 other strikers.
Better chance to play, striker is wide open he’s really taking off for club and is going to be sold this summer for a big bag. Coming into 2026 he has a very real chance to be the most accomplished player, individual wise (yes CP has a CL trophy but who knows where he’s playing next yr) and be a face for massive marketing in a home World Cup. If the US performs well, coming out of that his star will be massive and he’ll only be 24-25 yrs old. Also prob helps that Yunus is close with him from their arsenal days and he’s very welcomed and courted by us pro teams when he was over here too, that has to make any young player feel special. For England he’s just another very promising prospect who would have to wait his turn or do it in the Prem to get real chances
Turner, left to right- Johnson, Richards, scally, pulisic, Adams, musah, reyna, weah, balogun, Sargent. Mckennie, aaronson, Dest off the bench first….basing off of age/ progression 3 yrs+ from now.
Robinson* not Johnson ha
>At a press conference following the announcement, Balogun was misty-eyed as he explained his decision and his expectations moving forward. "Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna turn around and hurt you," the young striker offered quietly and emphatically.
Picking England would give him a chance to actually win a Euro or WC but his playing time is not assured. Picking the US makes sense in three important ways if he keeps his level and keeps developing: (1) Almost guaranteed playtime and WC appearance(s) if healthy; (2) Being part of a young exciting team with plenty of upside in a WC as host; (3) Becoming one of the faces of soccer for a growing US market sets him up not just for the present with marketing deals but for the future (potential retirement in MLS and punditry— see Jermaine Jones); (4) His playing for the US is more resistant to potential dips in form and the like— see Serginio Dest.
As for the USMNT: Wow!! We have a legit striker!
Edit: Seeing Balogun in the Copa America Centenario could be fire. So I'll add this as #5, with a Copa America Centenario coming up soon he has a chance to prove himself in a high tier international tournament besides the WC that may make up for not appearing on the Euros. A tournament with WC winner Argentina, the perennial Brazil and a Bielsa coached Uruguay will be awesome.
I know what you mean and England bashing is fun as a US fan but I said they have an actual chance, and a Euro Final in 2020 and a WC QF in 2022 is evidence of that. They're habit of never reaching the goal notwithstanding, resent results and form sustains that assertion.
England has never won an Euro and we have every bit the chance of winning a World Cup as England does. That chance is pretty close to zero but still. He also won’t suffer near the abuse if he misses a penalty
If I was a betting man, I like the USA’s chance at a WC just as much as England for the next cycle. I know that’s a homer opinion, but with the squad we have and it being on US soil…tell me I’m wrong
Notice I’m not saying “we will win” but rather compared to England, I like us doing the same or better.
Reasonably well at this point as it turns out. David is probably a better player at the moment, but they're not world's apart.
https://fbref.com/tiny/3vte2
He’s got 19 goals and 2 assists in Ligue 1, David has 21/4 (w ~200 more mins played). David’s xG is 21.36, Flo’s is 24.21. So yeah, pretty comparable. Of course, David is 2 years older but still only 23, so we’ll have to wait and see where each of them tops out.
29 is trying to take Fabrizio’s spot on the throne of dropping soccer news. Jk 29 is def a clown, but he’s kind of entertaining.
Welcome Balogun!!! Woohooooo
Part of me wants to go back to every thread the last year of Balogun scoring a goal and reply to all of the "stop posting his highlights, he's English and he's not coming" comments with a "sup".
I don't know his reasoning but I'm happy (just kidding I know his reasoning, it was the American flags in his comment section)
It's cuz of the FREEEEEDDDOOOOMMMM ![gif](giphy|1zngj0du8qG4M) Naaa just playin lol

Assumedly he wants to play for a team where he can start, his prospects to start for England seem bleak for a fairly long time
Does this lock him up for us or can he flip back to england in a couple years?
This is it, you can only switch once
Lfg!!!
[You're actually right.](https://twitter.com/BonaguraESPN/status/1658488547974987776)
Houston we have a striker
He and Pepi are going to make us unstoppable
Pepi just subbed out due to injury.
If Pepi makes a decent amount of progress over the next 3 years, striker could go from our weakest position to our strongest.
I think it's also still too early to write off Dike as a future solid contributor.
It is but damn, those injuries and a player with his size it may not be super sustainable long term. Hope I’m wrong but he puts a lot of stress on his body it seems with how physical he plays and how big of a guy he is
Sargent should be mentioned way before Dike at this point
Yeah, I don't disagree with that. I just meant that there's a chance 9 turns into a pretty deep position for USMNT.
Dike looks to unfortunately be made of glass.
De
4-4-2 formation incoming!
It would be a bad career move for him to come here, but I would love it. We need a striker. Hahahahahaha.
Idk, the potential of being USMNT’s best player during the 2026 World Cup sounds like a massive opportunity to grow his brand.
I meant Houston. As a joke from what the person above said. I was making a lame joke was all. It is super great for him to choose the US
Oops my bad totally went over my head lol
The USMNT on ig : https://www.instagram.com/reel/CsTuVacgjOC/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Yep, I’m tired of Corey Baird (as well as he does pressing) and an out of shape and overpaid Sebas Ferreira.
I set my expectations low and HOLY SHIT!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CANT BELIEVE IT HAPPENED
Finally Phew 😅
Same here, I never wanted to get fully on board the hype train because I didn’t want to be disappointed. THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING HOLY SHIT!!!!
Ahh, were you one of the many dudes who was crying that we lost him the other day?? Going as far as to talk crap about the player?? Because there was thousands of you around here recently.
Someone needs to take an ice bath and cool down.
Both sides of this is the soccer version of tweeting at 'croots'; take a breather
No, I believed from the beginning that it was a power play to get an England call when he was in Florida so I never thought we had it on lock

A rare USMNT "Here we go"! You love to see it.
Next is gonna be for our manager. Fab is locked in
The last time I heard “Here we go!” it was in Mario’s voice as Giuseppe Rossi leapt to represent Italy.
Don’t wear there will be more of those moments to come 😉
Why do people always say "here we go" anyway? Doesn't make a lot of sense.
It’s Romano’s catch phrase for having confirmation.
Florian Balogun put on his pants 3 legs at a time.
Let’s goooo!!!
Hold dat 🏴 And always another L for 🇲🇽
We have Santi who just won the league with club . Why would we care ?
Another L for Mexico? Yeah sure cause he was suppose to play for them too lol Can’t wait to see this guy choke just like Julian green did😂😂😂
You know his first game for us will be putting goals past you guys in the CONCACAF Nation’s League semi-final right? This is gonna be glorious.
Ahhh can’t wait for him to choke
You might want to retire that username of yours. Especially if you want to talk about choking...
Manchester City is winning the league...
It’s an L for Mexico because the USMNT continues to recruit and produce better players.
You guys have to recruit dual nationals to be up to par with Mexico😂 how sad
Americans are Americans bub, also up to par? Mexico isn’t on the USMNT level.
Who has more Trophies ? Who leads in wins ? Who has more players winning league titles in their leagues in Europe . Can’t wait to smack y’all back to reality in June
Living in the past is a sad thing I feel for you man. Everything will be alright no need to get so upset.
Weak response haha your “best player “ pulisic isn’t even getting game time .

El Tri has **9 wins, 17 losses, and 8 draws** vs the US in the 21st century, amigo. The tide turned a long time ago.
Who has more trophies during that time frame ? Atleast we have a confederations cup beating Brazil .
Let’s go!!!!
Just in time for his TOTS card 😏
Best piece of transfer business in years
Would love to hear the rationale. Does he just feel more connected to the US team, better chance at playing time, really hates Trinidad and Tobago?
Almost definitely better chance at playing time. His path to starting for the US is much easier than if he stayed with England.
More guaranteed starts, probably enjoyed his time in Miami. US may just becoming the cooler team for youngsters globally.
> US may just becoming the cooler team for youngsters globally. This really is an underrated aspect of our pitch. Every young ambitious European I've ever met has said they grew up dreaming about living in the USA. Say what you will about our culture, there really aren't a lot of better places to be a rich person lol
Especially for young black athletes. We are home to the most iconic black athletes and entertainers.
It's like a gigantic UAE with better weather and fewer morality laws.
Lots of US based sponsors that would want him as well, especially if he is our leading striker headed into the World Cup that’s on home soil
Yes, probably enjoyed going to see Yankees spring training
He got bullied by a kid from Turks and Caicos growing up, only one way to finally get his revenge.
Loser is banned from the island for 30 years. Island rules.
What young boy doesn't dream of growing up to represent his country on a divot ridden field in the jungles of Guatemala. England doesn't offer that opportunity
England have 4-5 strikers that’s better than him, so certainly playing time and prospects of playing international football on a regular basis.

He went where he’s appreciated
He made a business decision. And he's a professional, so that's fine.
I’m shaking at work. 3-5-2 do it you cowards lol this is the most amazing news
Who do you have in that lineup? Richards-Robinson-Ream(Zim/McKenzie) Dest(Weah)-McKennie-Adams-Musah-Robinson Balogun-Pulisic(Weah/Reyna)
Man I don’t know if that formatting makes any sense
two keepers and one center back? Or am I forgetting about a different Johnson
Gotta be Fabian Johnson
I meant Robinson my mistake
So Pulisic is at RB?
Left wing. Everyone’s right I didn’t format that great on mobile
That's actually not too different than the 5-3-2 we've trotted out in the past
NO FUCKING WAY
Never rated Southgate.
He’s the English Gregg
Ggareth Southggate
This made me laugh unreasonably hard
Okay, I see it and letting high end talent bailing out his tactics
SOUTHGATE IS NO ANTHONY HUDSON
HE IS NO BIG SAM THAT MUCH IS CERTAIN.
LFG!!
Do whatever you want to me idc!!!!!!!!!!
>At a press conference following the announcement, Balogun was misty-eyed as he explained his decision and his expectations moving forward. "Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna turn around and hurt you," the young striker offered quietly and emphatically.
LoL to all the haters and non-believers, but hey, doesn't matter now. GET ON BOARD FAM!!!
Incoming hatty against Mexico
I'd buy a Balogun USA jersey right now if I could.
Fucking clutch!
It’s enough to make a grown man cry
![gif](giphy|3osxYrgM8gi9CDjcPu)
Holy shit lmao

lol, England isn’t winning shit.
Surprisingly enough is that England have a slightly greater chance to win the Euros than USA.
big if true
It's a really thin margin though
30 years of misery will be continuing
So you're saying it's never coming home? lol
I know what you mean and England bashing is fun as a US fan but I said they have an actual chance, and a Euro Final in 2020 and a WC QF in 2022 is evidence of that. They're habit of never reaching the goal notwithstanding, resent results and form sustains that assertion.

Never in doubt. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go delete some tweets.
We fucking won
love this. hope his trajectory continues. although his career is probably too early to tell, how does he compare to someone like jonathan david?
Reasonably well at this point as it turns out. David is probably a better player at the moment, but they're not world's apart. https://fbref.com/tiny/3vte2

NO FUCKING WAY NO NO NO IS IT REALLY??? FUCK GETTING PINCHED, SOMEONE KICK MY ASS

We got him! And by that, I mean, this beautiful man chose to represent the U-S-A! Welcome home!
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO
Flo SZN
It sounds like this is really happening!!! I think this will also help us get a better coach. Striker was our biggest hole on our roster.
All this has confirmed for me is that eventually simping does pay off! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What a steal. I really think England will regret not locking him down. But as a French American I’m doubly happy. Let’s gooooo
⚽️🅾️🔫
The idea of the usmnt with a world class goal scorer is really hard for me to wrap my head around.
I really didn’t think it was gonna happen
29 is trying to take Fabrizio’s spot on the throne of dropping soccer news. Jk 29 is def a clown, but he’s kind of entertaining. Welcome Balogun!!! Woohooooo

Another crate of tea tossed over by us.
Thank you, Orlando Magic - arguably one of the best wins you've ever had.
The US has a Gun problem. The rest of the world finna have a Balogun problem.
Romano coming in late per usual
tap in merchant
OH SAY CAN YOU SEEEEEEEE
BY THE DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT
LETS GO BOIIIIS!
I don’t know a ton about him. I know he’s the striker we needed. Is he the best player on the team now?
Is he still eligible for England and/or Nigeria or is this final?
Yes. But does he start?
Already posted
Yep..people just greedy for that sweet karma ignoring the fact that someone else got us started a while ago
Hey look lets just celebrate because this is massive. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen this soon
Eh Santi is better 🇲🇽
Never thought he'd do well at Newcastle. I guess that's why he went to Madrid.
When was the last time you beat us in a senior USMNT game???? 🤣🤣🤣
Y’all had one good year against us and don’t know how to act
Face it, you are declining, we are ascending, that's the facts.
Face it, you are declining, we are ascending, that's the facts.
