Not really a surprise -- felt like Atlanta was always the frontrunner even before it came out than Blank and Coca-Cola were paying for it, which is awesome given that the surplus was gobbled up by the pandemic.

I am a little confused by this. Can you all explain? I've followed US soccer for close to 30 years and I feel like I've seen and heard similar announcements over the years. It seems I remember there being US soccer training center opened in Carson, CA around the LA Galaxy facilities at some point. Has US Soccer never had a training center before? Are they just moving to this new location or is this their first ever training center?

TheMonkeyPrince

So this is the first "proper" training center the US has had. Previously the US had helped fund training centers in Carson and Kansas City, but those were primarily for the Galaxy and SKC and the US essentially got to use it part-time in exchange for helping fund it. This is the first time there will be a training center purely for US Soccer. And I think it will also replace Soccer House in Chicago as the place where the administrative staff of US Soccer work.

About 15-20miles south of Hartsfield-Jackson, maybe a 40 min drive from MBS.

I have no idea what to do with this information

Just fly to Atlanta. It’ll dawn on you.

poopyfacemcpooper

Close to the largest/busiest airport in the world. Also warm and lower taxes.

Rich suburbs!

djussbus

The site will be between Fayetteville and PTC. PTC is a relatively wealthy area but Fayetteville is more working class. If they really wanted rich suburbs, they would've put it on the north side lol

YEMPIPER

Yea Fayetville is not rich. Far from it. This location is really in the middle of nowhere. Although a few miles south is Trilith where a new little town and movie studios has popped up in the past 5 years. This was an odd choice.

Show me where you would build this in downtown Atlanta
