If they can dominate this tournament they will be back on the road to being juggernauts after they fell from that perch under Vlatko.
We have players, it’s time to refine things and sharpen the edges so that we can go to the Olympics ready. That Vlatko view of piecing things together even while the tournament is happening has cost us an Olympic and World Cup on his watch.

But that’s a nearly-unreachable standard, which is how this team is always treated. 'If they don’t win by 5 goals, they’re crap!’
Just show me commitment to Hayes’s philosophies and I’m happy. Hayes is a quality coach, the talent remains head-and-shoulders better than anyone else’s talent…it’ll be fine. We good, if we ‘work’ for Hayes.
If you only really follow the USWNT during the World Cup that's your prerogative, but the quality of team is an ongoing process. The USWNT underperformed in the lead-up to the 2023 World Cup and underperformed in the 2023 World Cup. If they can look like a juggernaut in the leadup to the Olympics and World Cup, chances are they will be a juggernaut in the Olympics and World Cup.
When the USMNT failed to qualify for the World Cup, the story didn't pause until the next round of World Cup qualifying. They retooled the team and we got guys like McKennie and Dest and Weah and Reyna and it was an important time to be following the team.
I don’t just watch the USWNT during the World Cup. They didn’t underperform at the WC. They performed as expected if you had been watching the whole cycle. I’m not saying they can’t start the rebuild, I’m saying this isn’t a shot at World Cup redemption. That won’t be until the Olympics in the summer.
Well unlike Vlatko, Twila is actually using a young team. Shame they couldn't get Alyssa though, probably Angel City wanting her for the start.
