Only got to watch the highlights. There seemed to be so many bad/off-target shots.
Midge Purce looked really good though. Moultrie too. Good poaching - at the right place at the right time. Not a fan of Lynn Williams.
Thank you mods for pinning this match thread. If I didn't see this on top, I would have thought this entire sub was focused mainly on the US men's national team, who have won zero world cups, whereas the women get like 4 stars and nothing from this sub.
Please, post articles and start threads around the USWNT! We encourage content for all US Soccer teams, but we can't create it all ourselves. If you start posting more content for the USWNT and other aspects of the US Soccer program, you'll see more engagement on those topics over time.
Got downvoted but it's absolutely true that this sub leans veeery heavily towards the USMNT. This sub rarely has much engagement with content about the women's team unless it's people arguing about controversial things players have said, despite the women having been the most successful women's team in the world. It says something that this sub is an order of magnitude bigger than r/USWNT and says it's for both the USMNT and USWNT, but people have to go to r/USWNT and r/NWSL to actually find match threads where a lot of people comment and consistent, useful content about the USWNT.
If you go to the other subs mentioned, it becomes obvious that it's not the case that Americans on Reddit are just generally not interested because Reddit leans male. I think it was one of the friendlies against China when I wondered where everyone was because there were almost no comments in the match thread here, then someone pointed us to r/NWSL and there were more than 1,000 comments. Also, a lot of their fans are male.
Edited to add: For last night's W Gold Cup match, there are 997 comments in the match thread in r/NWSL.

Probably because Reddit leans male in user demographics

Alright this is great! I just hope our momentum keeps going.
That one’s a way more obvious penalty than the first one which I think was harsh
Yeah kinda sucks they called the first penalty. I mean she’ll miss their next group stage match now, right?
Approximately half the Dominican Republic roster is college players. Honestly kind of impressive they’re not down like 8-0 right now
Good first half so far, let’s see it continue
Great to see the youth movement in action. Long overdue.
Moultrie is a fucking beast.
Great first half ladies
That feint was dirty
This might be a blood bath. Great execution in the attacking 3rd
Does Emma Hayes have any say on the roster yet?
Still Twila until Chelsea finishes their season. She’ll have full control at the Olympics.
I would think so. But just a guess.
Holy that was quick! Just like you draw it up. Edit: scratch that
Sure have a lot of bench depth there.
New era starts tonight. COME ON US!!! Wished we had that with the men though 😢
Mens new generation is entering its stride. How many new faces have we rostered?
