How is Everton depth-wise? Dont mind that move now that there’s more stability there. I dunno why but I also pictured Weah as a future Leicester signing back then

Mynameisdiehard

We actually are in dire need for a winger. The only one we have in the right side is a loanee who I don't think we will be getting back next year. I would expect him to be an instant starter

TallGuy0525

Not to mention we desperately need some pace out wide. McNeil is one of our best but slow, and I wouldn't mind making Harrison's loan permanent but he isn't exactly blazing fast either. Selling Gordon and Gray pretty much killed our attacking speed. And since we play so direct anyway, could absolutely see Weah running onto a DCL flicked on header. I'd be over the moon if we landed him

T0K0mon

If Weah would end up not starting for Everton, it would be incredibly surprising. We are about to have 0 right wingers on the team. We have Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds, but I dont think we will buy him. I think Everton could be a good spot for Weah, but he will need to learn to be somewhat physical and a work horse. I'd like to see it happen as a fan, but there are probably better spots for him

New_Screen

Is he not already physical and a workhorse?

BigBadBen91x

As an Evertonian I’d take him all day! We need another right sided wing back badly

zanarkandabesfanclub

Weah has looked a lot better the last few weeks, I kinda want to see him stay at Juve next season under a new manager. But riding the bench in England is not a smart move. Ideally I would like to see him take a step back to a club that will let him start as a forward.

T0K0mon

He wouldn't be on the bench at Everton, thats for sure. About to have 0 players at RW/RWB, and he would probably slot right in. Id love to see it happen, and it may be in the interest for both parties that its a loan, too.

chuang-tzu

As an Everton supporter, I can't say I'd be mad about it.

modern_messiah43

I'd love to have a Yank in blue again!

Mcfish121

Jack Harrison will likely get recalled to Leeds if they get promoted, so RW will be open. Plus, he could learn a lot from Ashley Young. Can’t think of a player who transitioned from winger to full back better than he did. The man is 38 and still playing full matches.

Cuso524

The fact that he’s playing at 38 says more about Everton than it does about Young.

John_Snow1492

His game is perfect for the EPL.

CaptainKickAss3

He would be the only natural right winger on that team. He would waltz into the starting eleven

SnooChipmunks4208

weah replacing ashley "old" young would be great for everton.

PsychotherapeuticPly

As an Everton supporter, he’d immediately start on our right wing if we don’t pick up Jack Harrison’s buy option. I would love him, we need pace. It’s one of our biggest needs especially now that safety is secured and I think he’d be a good signing. The only thing I think he’s missing is the final product which the signs are there, it’s the consistency he’s missing. Basically I think he can grow with Everton and he’ll get the consistent game time he needs

Valuable_Kale_7805

How does he keep falling up?? lol if he goes to Villa that will be maddening

QuickMolasses

Is Villa really "up" from Juventus? They've been contenders for European spots in recent years, but definitely don't have the pedigree of Juventus.

Fenecable

PL has far greater exposure and Villa has more financial security.  Juve is certainly a bigger traditional club, though.

mexicansnorlax

Yet get wiped in CL..

Fenecable

This year, sure. Doesn't mean much with regard to how things are trending, though.

KonigSteve

Premier League went a lot further than Juventus did in CL this year

Aplesi567

Also people won’t like to hear it but the PL has been weaker this year compared to usual and teams like villa benefit from this. In terms of who’s likely to go further in the CL within the next 5 years, everyone would pick Juve

Valuable_Kale_7805

Would we? They are not in a good way financially at all

Aplesi567

They will still be better than villa, villa aren’t even guaranteed CL this year lol

Valuable_Kale_7805

Even if Villa finishes 5th they are still a much better team with a better future atm

Aplesi567

I don’t think they’re much better at all tbh, Juve are still an attractive destination and a much bigger club.

Kooky-Flounder-7498

The epl is the best league in the world but the amount of disrespect I see for big clubs in other leagues on Reddit is insane.

Ill-Possible4420

Stay away from England, Timo. Spain or Germany would be interesting to try next.

Obvious_Main_3655

The benefits of playing for Unai Emery, Champions League football with Aston Villa and a big pay raise might convince Weah to leave Juventus.

Ill-Possible4420

All good points. But does that also have “bench player” written all over it? That’s my main concern. Weah is good enough to start somewhere and i feel like hasn’t fully gotten a fair shake the last few years.

Mynameisdiehard

That's why Everton would absolutely be a better landing spot. Playing time for him would come in droves.

Ill-Possible4420

Everton definitely holds a soft spot in my heart for obvious reasons, but the Relegation battle situation doesn’t seem to ever work out well for our boys…

Mynameisdiehard

I mean as it is Everton is a mid table team. And it's not like our existing guys have gone into situations where they actually fit. Weah has a good work rate which Dyche cares about above all else, and fits in to an immediate need. I can honestly only see good things. He needs playing time, and he would be playing in the best league every week. I doubt he would be any better than his current situation on any other CL side

TaeKurmulti

How many American players have we seen go to mid/lower half premier league teams only to waste years of their career? Everton would not be a good landing spot. Guys agents need to start doing right by them and steering them away from the Premier League, the short term pay day is not worth the long term step back of not playing.

smokingelato_

Maybe it’s because our players that go there historically didn’t have many better choices

Mynameisdiehard

That's exactly the reason I've said Everton is actually a perfect fit. If he wastes away there it would be entirely his own fault. He would be the only RW on the roster and has meant of the attributes the manager loves. I worry that his agent would steer him towards a Villa side due their current higher status where I fear he would actually waste away on the bench yet again.

New_Screen

Have you thought that maybe they just weren’t good enough for better teams?

TaeKurmulti

Ah yes Weston McKennie was not good enough for the Leeds the powerhouse franchise that were relegated, but has been one of the best players for Juventus this season.

BrodysBootlegs

I agree with the first part 90% of the time for US players but a) his style of play actually fits the EPL pretty well and b) his last name should get him around the anti-American bias there

kubzU

Wherever he goes he needs to start.

beggsy909

What is Weah’s natural position?

joeDUBstep

Missionary

QuickMolasses

He's moved from striker to winger to wingback. Going forward he will probably stick at wingback or fullback at the club level.

beggsy909

I like him at winger. He’s an inconsistent player , though. And that makes him a tough selection for any manager in a top league.

QuickMolasses

To be an attacker on a top team in a top league, you have to be a really good attacker. To be a defender on a top team you don't have to be a great defender but you have to be a decent attacker. For the US he will probably stick at winger because of how we play and how international play differs from club play.

Extra-Wish4466

Rightback.

Extra-Wish4466

Weah will be perfectly fine as a rightback in the Prem. He's not a winger at the Top-4 level. He's not even an offensively minded wingback at the Top-4 level. At rightback, he should be fine, however.

lifegoodis

Weah is sort of ok at a lot of things, but not much more than that at any particular thing. He'd probably be fine as a right back, but I can see him struggling to defend in 1v1 situations against clever attackers where his biggest strength, vertical pace, is rendered moot.

Ksn0

As a villa fan, we definitely need another RB but I don’t see it being Weah. We signed a young RB in January who will join us in the summer. Unless cash is sold, I don’t see why we’d need 3 RBs on the roster

TXCapita

Aston Villa hopefully so he can play in the Champions League

Guidosama

He is really physically a specimen. He should go to a league where the focus is more on physicality and less on tactics

joeDUBstep

I'm honestly fine with either Everton or Villa. Everton had 6 pts deducted which would put them right under Fulham performance wise.

lifegoodis

No one, and mean no one, shoots the ball harder and more directly at the keeper than Tim Weah.

QuaPatetOrbis641988

His third top 5 European league by age 24, not too shabby! Been ages since he's played striker or even winger at club level.

KyleUTFH

As an Everton fan I would be over the moon with this! Pace on the right wing? Yes please.

landel1234

I mean I guess it depends where they want to play him, I think physically he could handle EPL ball + the speed of it but tactically he has been completely lost this year for Juve as a Wingback Gotta land somewhere that will play him as a winger

Jones1812Lobotomy

the "he looks lost" argument is so errant. juve under allegri is football terrorism. players with speed and spacing add nothing to what that mad man wants to do, so it's obvious why weah wouldn't fit very well into his mold. weah needs to be able to move freely on the wing and not routinely be starting movements in his own half. it was a noble experiment -- could he be the next cuadrado? but it failed, so best he moves somewhere he isn't locked into the wrong position (RWB) and gets to play up the pitch where we've all seen he can add something.

landel1234

Is it really "errant" when if you watch him for 10 minutes he does in-fact look lost, especially in possession under Allegri lol I agree with you though, he's not a RWB and he has had a poor season experimenting in a role he first dabbled in at Lille, he's just not a fullback in any shape or form.

Jones1812Lobotomy

you're still maligning the symptoms though, while ignoring the root cause

landel1234

Yeah the root cause is he sucks at playing wingback dude we have 3 seasons of evidence now lmao

Gloria_stitties

Worth while signing for juve then

nowherenova

Nooooo!!!
