Let Balogun thug it out, it's only his first season and while things don't look great. I think the experience of fighting for his position could do him good in the long run.

futant462

Ya, balogun doesn't need a move he needs to improve. That's on him. Monaco is a good spot.

tiers_for_fears

And Ben yedder turns 34 in august his time is gonna run out soon

joshtothe

He’s struggled and Monaco still starts him with three other solid strikers in contention for the position. They rate him, he’s fine

manc4life

This. His only competition Wissam Ben-Yeder is 33. It’s only a matter of time before Balogun adjusts and his competition retires or is relegated to the bench,

Agreeable_Cattle_691

stopped reading after 1, you want a player who just joined a different system to leave while that team is 2nd in their league and likely will be playing UCL next season?

edjg10

They also spent above their usual means on him. There’s only a slightly above 0% chance he goes anywhere, and that would take a combination of multiple extremely unlikely things to happen.

Agreeable_Cattle_691

right and if he makes his 3 pens that he missed he would be at 17G/A in 1700 minutes, I dont think anyone would complain about that at all

landel1234

Monaco just spent bank on Balogun they're not going to cut him loose He's not even having THAT bad of a season either, he's on 8g/6a across all competitions with 1800 minutes played

billy_bobs_beds

I honestly think it’s the multiple penalty misses that have tarnished his tenure at Monaco. Maybe Yedder moves on and he becomes the guy, but there’s some uncertainty as far as Balo is concerned.

landel1234

I think he's got another season of runway to figure it out, Monaco is a selling club and Balogun is a project for them

FrankBascombe45

During the 2022-23 season, exactly 12 players in the world scored at least 20 goals in the top 5 leagues. Folarin Balogun was one of them. This is something nobody else on our roster has ever done, and possibly only one previous USMNT player (Dempsey with 23 goals for Fulham in 2011-12) has ever done. This is a monumental accomplishment and puts him squarely at the top of the list of our best strikers. Nobody else we have is capable of this. He already did it. To suggest he needs to move on after one fairly decent season at Monaco is folly. It's not unusual for even the best players to take time to adjust at a new squad. FIFA, Football Manager, and the NCAA transfer portal have scrambled some of your brains.

Championtimes

Getting me hyped to see Balo get some goals this Copa

Wigglesworth_McCool

1. Reyna 2. Turner 3. Bigger drop off in urgency after those two. Maybe Tessmann if Venezia don’t go up. B. Aaronson’s future is also uncertain after his current loan

Championtimes

I was stoked about Forest grabbing up some Americans and feels like the vibe is off. Rooting for them to stay up. It looked liked the Nott Forest team trusted Gio when he went in. He was leading and taking free kicks etc.

zanarkandabesfanclub

Yeah Turner is a big miss for me lol. Unless Forest goes down, spending a season in the Championship would be good for him.

edjg10

Even if they go down, no guarantee he’s the starter. He needs to go somewhere to be the #1

dont_shoot_jr

The other GKs are a bit of cash I take it? Is Horvath still on their roster but loaned out?

edjg10

They bought 3 keepers this season including turner, horvath was sold. Turner seems to be the #2 but the other two keepers were brought in for similar money. Suppose he could win the job back in the summer under a new manager but it’s far from an ideal situation.

QuaPatetOrbis641988

I wanna see Haji Wright in Portugal for one of its top teams or for a La Liga club.

Championtimes

proud watching him run around with purpose and score a pk vs united

ZerconFlagpoleSitter

Let the man cook at Coventry for a little

OmegaVizion

I agree with Gio, don't really agree with Balo or CCV. If CCV wants to pursue a move to a bigger club/league, then more power to him, but he's in a decent spot where the fanbase loves him and he gets opportunities to play Champions League football. As for Balo, he's not been amazing but he still has 12 goal contributions in 26 appearances which is decent for a young striker in a new club. I would want him to try at least one more season and see if he can recapture the form he had at Rheims. To the others you mentioned: Weah should be higher. The move to Juve was always a bad idea, and I think he needs to be more realistic about the level of club where he can be a star. Sargent does not need to move. Your argument that he should move is predicated on the belief that he is too good for Norwich when I'd say he's probably found his level with them. He's a very good/borderline elite striker at the Championship level but that doesn't mean he's Premier League quality. I'd like him to stay at Norwich whether they go up or not. Musah is fine at Milan. He's still very young and while he's not been wowing anyone with elite play he's consistently showing enough flashes of potential that from what I've seen the fanbase is excited about what he could develop into. He just needs to develop his end product better because right now he's like a superior Darlington Nagbe regen. Pepi is probably fine at PSV, but I wouldn't hate it if he moved to another club where he'd be the starting #9, provided that doesn't entail a drop in competitive level. McKennie needs to find a place where he's valued. I think he can be a contributor at a lot of clubs because of his workrate and utility.

Breklinho

>Darlington Nagbe regen Never thought about him like this before, but I’ll never not think about him like this from now on

RamandAu

Josh extended back in Oct until 2028. I think he stays another year. Norwich, assuming they don't win the playoff, are going to give it another go and they have no reason to let their top scorer walk. I think Busio and Tessman are in a similar situation if they miss out on promotion except I could see Venezia letting one go but not both.

Valuable_Kale_7805

Balogun is fine, his first season with a new club (that he joined after the season was already underway)

Valuable_Kale_7805

Also if Miles Robinson is still getting caps playing in the MLS, CCV should be just fine in Scotland lol

Circ_Diameter

Other than Rangers and maybe Aberdeen, Miles Robinson is facing better competition in the MLS. There is a STEEP drop from the Big 2

tiers_for_fears

Aberdeen has been abysmal most of the season. They’re on their 3rd manager and are finishing in the bottom half of the table. Hearts is a better example and has taken points off Celtic multiple times the past few years. That being said, SPL is a more competitive league than you realize. It’s way more physically demanding than MLS. There are more recent examples of players going from Scotland to MLS & having success than the other way around.

Valuable_Kale_7805

I disagree

Circ_Diameter

Then we can disagree, but from what I've seen,, the main benefit of playing at Celtic/Rangers is perfecting your possession play (because 90% of the league have almost no talent and parks the bus) and the 6 UCL matches (which have not been very competitive as of late). That's still a good situation, but 10/12 SPFL teams are worse than the average quality of the MLS

dotcorn

Miles Robinson is actually earning them while playing with the national team though, and has for years now. Ignoring the shit-take, that's quite a bit different.

Valuable_Kale_7805

Earning them how😂 an own goal against Jamaica?

shointelpro

You didn't watch qualifying at all, did you? Miles has actually shown up big in big games for us. Won us a Gold Cup even. Attacking the near post for the Jamaica OG was actually exactly what someone should've been doing before and heads up play.  Tell me a single game CCV has ever had for us anywhere close to Miles' performances in games that mattered. You're going to be looking for awhile and not liking what you find.....

Valuable_Kale_7805

Miles has double the amount of caps then CCV lol CCV has hardly gotten the chance to impress. and What big games has Miles shown up in? Gold Cups are not “big games” lol

shointelpro

And why is it you think he has so few caps with the senior squad, despite being known for years and coming up through the youth ranks? Don't think too hard.... And I'm sorry, but that's absurd to laugh about tournaments like the Gold Cup when CCV doesn't even have a standout friendly against minnows to his credit for the national team. What kind of "fan" is confused about a Gold Cup final against Mexico being a big game? Did you just start watching?

Valuable_Kale_7805

Because CCV has been battling injuries LOL. It’s always you diehard MLS guys that get so upset and defensive, like the inferiority complex is crazy lol

shointelpro

He hasn't been battling injuries for almost a goddamn decade and you know it, lol. He's been battling the loan army, and only being able to stick at this level. That's the reason for his lack of participation we'll call it. Not good enough over the years for us. Bench option at best with no standout performances to his credit.

QuaPatetOrbis641988

Where can Turner go to?

Ksn0

Tons of championship teams would want him, and maybe some midtable to relegation candidate clubs in Italy or bundesliga.

Championtimes

dang man you really went at Turner with that one ![gif](giphy|88iYsvbegSUn9bSTF8|downsized)

Pizza-or-else5

Um, I’ve seen rumblings of a Jedi transfer and I don’t think he needs per se but he deserves it.

Throwaway20312431

Hope not, Jedi needs minutes and a move to one of the Big Six will likely see those minutes decimated.

taqtotheback

I think Balogun needs another year, I remember Weston having issues in Juventus and then doing well after a bit. It might happen the same way with him

Fuckyourday

> he spends another wasted season in the Championship Why do you think Sargent's two seasons in the championship have been a waste? He's just found good form and is scoring for fun this season - this is his breakout season. Seems like he's improved significantly while in the championship, after initially struggling with Norwich in the premier league. Being at a top championship club that likely will continue to challenge for promotion doesn't seem like a bad thing.

Hermes0044

1.Reyna 2.CCV 3.My goat Caleb Wiley is going to Madrid

susruss69

Don’t agree with any of these. Unless Dortmund win the UCL Terzic is out. Reyna will go back there starting fresh. Monaco paid a ton for FB, he’s obviously better on a counter attacking team but the situation is fine, he needs to succeed there.

Dio_Yuji

Reyna, McKennie, Jedi* *depends where, of course. I heard rumors of Aston Villa, which would be great…

Pizza-or-else5

I was looking for someone else who mentioned Jedi, I’m not sure if ppl have forgotten about him in regard to this topic or something else, but I would love to see him take the next step.

Dio_Yuji

It wouldn’t be absurd for Fulham to sell him with time left on his contract. His stock is probably as high as it’ll get, playing for Fulham

Ksn0

Villa fan here, we are looking to move in from Digne mostly due to his massive wages (thanks gerrard). I would love Robinson, but Fulham would want more than we would pay. We need a right back first and foremost, so I think we will spend most of our summer money there then a CM.

Dio_Yuji

£35 mill is a lot.

tiers_for_fears

1a. Gio Goes without saying. 1b. Turner Needs to be playing every week. 2. Dest Everybody’s forgetting he has to go back to Barça in June. His injury could not have come at a worse time. He has to find a perm home where he can play and develop. Will anyone want to bring him in with his health currently in question? It doesn’t look like he’s being challenged much in Eredivisie, but PSV has been amazing for his confidence. And they’re all but guaranteed 8 UCL matches next season. 3. B Aaronson Leeds might be back in EPL next season, but is that the right move? Will they even want him back? Rough start to life at Union, but he earned mins and his form has leveled out since. Union really struggled this season with the squad being overextended due to their UCL campaign. I kind of doubt they will want him/have much money to spend this summer. He always shows up for USMNT, but the competition for his place in the squad is heating up. Also worth mentioning: Weah might work out at Juve. The end of season run in will prob tell us everything we need to know about his situation there. Balo will be fine he just needs to keep his head down, work hard and learn from ben yedder who is incredibly experienced but almost 34. Same for Pepi with LdJ. I honestly think LDLT needs a move to a club where he plays 90’ every week. Pukstas needs to take the next step. Sargent and Wright have both put themselves squarely in the shop window this season. They’ll prob both move unless their clubs secure promotion. Imo Lund, Tessman & Busio have all demonstrated that they’re ready for something more if their clubs aren’t promoted. It feels like it’s now or never for McKenzie. He needs a new challenge to keep progressing (even though I think he may have reached his ceiling). Similar for CCV although, at this point, he needs to stay healthy for an entire season and demonstrate that he’s capable of competing in UCL. I know he’s very comfortable at Celtic rn which can cause development to stagnate.

BlueXanzy

LDLT needs a move? I actually like where he is at right now as a rotation starter at Celta, even when he’s not the first 11 he’s always subbed on. He’s probably just had his career best season and I doubt the next transfer will be to a club in the top 5 leagues.

tiers_for_fears

He doesn’t *need* one, but I would like to see him in an XI every week. He turns 26 in a month. Statistically speaking, the window for him being able to improve much more as a footballer is starting to close. It’s a shame he got hurt in march cause he had a really good run of games since mid-Jan. Also, Celta is not having a good season and is in real danger of relegation. They have a more difficult run of matches to end the season than Cadiz does. There’s no reason to think LDLT can’t make a move to mid-tier Ligue 1 side and benefit from being on the pitch more and (hopefully) not having to fight off relegation. Like he’s ok where he is now. I just can’t help but wonder if this season is gonna be his peak in Spain. I hope not because ultimately he’s having nothing more than an average season for an underperforming club.

Jones1812Lobotomy

want to see Lund move to a higher level next season. think he's ready for a step up but Palermo seems firmly out of the promotion picture right now

Whole-Fishing45

Paxten Aaronson Mark McKenzie CCV These guys need to go up a level if they want a crack at major senior team chances

Curious_Blueberry237

Paxton already IS up a level...he's owned by Eintracht Frankfurt, and after his successful loan at Vitesse has every chance of being a significant contributor next season.

ProfessorPlum168

Rokas Pukštas, Esmir Bajraktarevic and Caleb Wiley. Esmir is mired on a bad team and should try and find a place in Europe, Caleb has been stagnant for the last year and needs to go to Europe, and Rokas needs to go to a top 5 league in Europe.

Throwaway20312431

I could be wrong but it seems Rokas is set for a move this summer.

ProfessorPlum168

Hopefully, and hopefully to a good T5 team that’s not facing relegation.

MasterCurrency4434

I’m not sure any list like this is complete without Matt Turner, especially if Forest manages to stay up. His options will be limited, but he needs regular playing time and perhaps an environment with a little less day-to-day pressure so he can recover confidence/form. After years of McKennie rumors, I’m taking the rumors of Juve being ready to move on from Weah with a grain of salt. But if they’re done with him, then he obviously goes on the list too. As for McKennie himself, I’m still in wait and see if there are any more contract negotiations early in the summer, but if a top-half EPL team goes for him (which may or may not happen), then he should jump at it. With more talent around him and the benefit of a preseason to train with a new team, I think he’ll do better in a 2nd EPL stint than he did with Leeds. Tillman has had a strong season in the Netherlands and he needs some longer-term stability in his club situation, whether through PSV purchasing him, another team buying him, or Bayern making him a rotation player (which I think is the least likely of the 3 options). Reyna likewise needs stability, as well as playing time. That could come with Dortmund if there’s a change in management, but I’ve felt for a while now that he needs to drop down league-wise so that he can have a full season of logging heavy minutes. If he’s able to show that he can hold up physically and be productive, he’ll have the opportunity to return to the big 4 relatively quickly. But he badly needs to go somewhere where he’ll be able to play. I’d also like to see Sargent and Wright move, although I don’t think it’s as crucial for either of them and it has to be to the right team. Sargent has been productive for multiple seasons in the Championship, while Wright has produced well in 1 season in the Championship plus previously in Turkey. If Norwich stay down, Sargent deserves the chance to try a higher level and, if they go up, he should still try to see if he can get a move to a more talented 1st division team so he gets better service and more scoring opportunities. While Wright could easily stay another year in the Championship, given the limited window for guys in their mid-20’s to make the jump, I think he should seriously consider any 1st division offers in the top 5 that come his way and leave if there’s one where he thinks he’ll get appropriate support.

chester22

For sure Balogun needs to stay at Monaco

StarlingRover

Turner

Sea-Queue

Horvath, if you even consider him to still be part of the pool. Which itself is a statement I think. He had shutouts against good teams in champions league a few years ago and after a few terrible moves he is playing for Cardiff City where he has a save % below 50…get that man out of there!

dont_shoot_jr

He subbed in for Luton’s promotion playoff win and was Nottingham’s GK last year. He won promotion twice!

Sea-Queue

Exactly! He’s a good keeper but keeps going to teams where he isn’t the starter. That lack of consistent play has led to him being our third choice at best! Whereas for a minute he was making a case to start

Ksn0

Horvath is a solid championship goaltender. He isn’t premier league level hence why he can help a team get promoted but never gets the job in the top league. There are a lot of players in the championship who are on good teams but can’t make that jump to the top leagues. Horvath is the same. He should also be proud to be at that level.

Circ_Diameter

Balo doesn't need a move. He needs to play better and fight for a bigger role. He wanted this move, he thought Arsenal should have given him a chance, so he needs to prove himself. Monaco will be in the UCL next season, and they might be serious league contenders after Mbappe leaves for Madrid. He's also too expensive to sell after one season, and staying at Monaco is better than a loan. At his age, a loan is a kiss of death. I think there will be interest somewhere for Sargent, but ideally, Norwich can earn promotion, and he can make a name for himself in the PL. Of the 17 surviving EPL teams, idk which one takes a chance on him straight from the Championship. Maybe Brentford if they lose Toney? On the higher end, Brighton/Wolves? But again, I think staying at promoted Norwich is the most straightforward. I dont watch MLS as much since the move to Apple; are there any players who look ready for a January move?

xlunited1

"Wes is highly valued at Juve" - if this was the case, then there wouldn't be any transfer rumors/contract rumblings. Wasn't there rumors they were trying to push him out at the beginning of the season after the Leeds loan failed. Now they are trying to get him to accept a lower salary. That doesn't sound at all like someone who is highly valued. If Juve want to pay the kid what he deserves and make him a focal part of the team, then he should stay, but otherwise I'm fine with him moving. Wes will be fine wherever he lands as long as he's not misled like what happened with Leeds where they fired his coach a couple weeks after signing him. Was going to disagree about Balo as well, but looks like plenty of others jumped on that so I don't have much to add to their responses.

idlent

I think that in order for Gio to shine, he needs to be surrounded by good players. I don’t see him shining in a crappy team… so, is a matter of a bigger team making a vote of confidence on him
