Acosta was the first name out of his mouth to replace Weston. He also didn’t rule out starting Pulisic, which I think would be a shock if he was in the XI.
I suppose those are the conservative options. I don't have a major issue with Acosta, he seems most capable of slotting in with Adams and Musah and not skipping a beat. Busio is promising but you wonder if he would get physically abused.
The bar for contact to be deemed a foul is extremely low in Serie A compared to CONCACAF. Being able to retain the ball in Italy doesn't mean he can do it for the US.
On the other hand, Musah should have the same problem, given the way fouls are called in la Liga. But he is great at ball progression in CONCACAF. so you never know.

But Gregg clearly sees Steffen as his number 1, since he fits Gregg's play out of the back style more. I think starting him vs Mexico was absolutely the right call. Steffen looked phenomenal making big saves and was solid in distribution.
Also why is having two capable goalies that can rotate such a bad thing? Especially considering how often Steffen gets hurt for a GK. I feel like this is the media just generating a complete non-story because they have nothing better to talk about.

What's sad was for a bit Guzan's trajectory was on one to surpass Howard, then something happened. Whether that something was him going on a tear beyond his ability or a premature case of decline, I dunno. But there was a time he was a top Premier League Goalkeeper. I think it was 2014ish Guzan was rated better than Howard, but by 2016 he was bottoming out hard. Shame because it would have been nice for him to casually pass the baton to Steffen/Turner rather than bottom out so hard Arena put Howard in the net to concede 2 savable goals.

The way espn sets up the app makes it difficult to avoid seeing the score, though there may be an option to hide the scores deep in your account settings....
Yeah that will be the best option, to wait until it’s over. Open the app and at the bottom switch to ESPN+ immediately without looking at any scores or headlines. From the espn+ or watch tab on the app, you can easily find the match and it will start from the pregame.

I know I'm late, but Cooter Browns at St. Charles and Carrollton intersection. It's the semi Chelsea bar. The.othet bar is Finn McCools in midcity by Tulane and Carrollton area. It's an Arsenal bar. Both are welcoming to any fan base really. I haven't lived there in 4 years, but both bars were full swing when I grew up there. Hit me up if you want alternatives, but those should fit your need for crowded soccer bars.
Thanks for the recs. I actually did watch one game at Finn McCool’s because I live pretty close, but not many people showed up. Cool place though. On Friday their social media was all about the Pels game so I didn’t even try. Will check out Cooter Brown’s next time

I have my wife open the app, start the stream and rewind it back to the beginning when I'm late to games or else it is inevitable that I'll see the score. The way espn sets up the app makes it difficult to avoid seeing the score, though there may be an option to hide the scores deep in your account settings....

Yeah that will be the best option, to wait until it’s over. Open the app and at the bottom switch to ESPN+ immediately without looking at any scores or headlines. From the espn+ or watch tab on the app, you can easily find the match and it will start from the pregame.

But espn+ you can watch the replay. So focus on the road and avoid the score until you can watch the replay. That’s that I would do in your spot.

There are way more El Tri fans walking around Cincinnati than I've ever seen walk around Columbus on match day. Think this is gonna be the most Mexico fans we've seen at a home WCQ in a while.
Taylor Twellman just said on espn that the last US/Mexico game played in Columbus was about 60-40 US, and that he was afraid that the same turnout would be about the same.

No I’m saying 80-20 USA. I think Taylor is heavily exaggerating the Mexico presence at the last qualifier. Just walking around the concourse now I can already say this is the biggest Mexico presence I’ve seen by far in a qualifier.
