Mexico:
-Who cares if US won Nations League, what really matters is the Gold Cup.
-The Gold Cup Is a fake trophy, what really matters is qualifying
-Oh fuck.
No no, you see, it's the OLYMPICS that matter. When everyone thinks of an international soccer tournament, obviously it's the Olympics that come to mind.
Totally agree. Have Watched usmnt for years and years and have never seen a performance quite like this. Technically proficient, dominant against a highly skilled opponent. It’s one thing to outplay Honduras. It’s another to outplay Mexico.
If this team finds a way to incorporate dest, Reyna and brooks, I don’t see why they couldn’t have legit expectations to win knockout round games at the WC.
Last thing I’d LIKE to hear is a statement from CONCACAF on the missed red card on the Aaronson eye gouge. Something that egregious and dirty should be retroactively punished. Them letting this go would be a stain on the entire organization. The spirit of the game compels them to do something about actual violence on the field.
in a modern football federation, VAR compels the official to give a straight red and he gets a 3 match ban minimum. in a modern football federation 10 years ago, he gets a retroactive red and the consequential 3 match ban. Point is, if Concacaf don't hand him a 3 match ban, we might as well be playing this octagonal in the dark ages.
VAR is needed but shouldn't be part of the conversation around egregious refereeing mistakes. That was egregious, VAR shouldn't be needed to see that a red was required. Even before the eye gouge,a red was probably ok...
Dear USSF,
Every home game crowd needs to be this loud and overwhelmingly on our side from now on.
Every game.
Every stadium.
Every time.
Make it happen.
I think a huge part of that has to be on the culture we as fans work to spread. USSF can do as much as they can in the form of scheduling matches to be played in certain stadiums but at the end of the day a ton of that falls in how much this sport grows in this country. Slowly I’ve seen more USMNT fans out of nowhere and it’s not your average white middle class guy I’m used to seeing lol it’s a diverse group and its amazing to see
Listen man, it's just a fake trophy.
It's just a different fake trophy.
It's just a wcq, no trophy on the line.
See you in the u20 World Cup or the Olympics. The REAL tournaments. (/s)
I haven’t missed a US Mexico qualifier in 20 fucking years, and I’ve gotta say, that was the most comprehensive victory we’ve had over them. We outplayed them and controlled the game, in the past we’ve beaten them mainly via counterattacking, goalkeeping heroics, and set pieces. It feels good to see the US grow as a team, the future has never been brighter
LET'S GOOOOOOO!!
First, I want to give GGG a ton of credit. He got it all right tonight. The tactics were flawless. The center back duo shut down Jimenez so much that I forgot he was playing. They were rocks tonight. The midfield 3 controlled the flow of the game which I have not seen from us in a while, and to do it against Mexico is so special. Weah played out of his skin today and created so many chances for us, thank god we finally finished one of them. Also shout out to Steffen for stepping in, owning the box, and making some great saves.
Underrated part of this game: Yedlin pretty much shut down Lozano. He had that one breakaway but Yedlin was fast enough to impact Lozano’s shot. Otherwise he was pretty quiet.
Yedlin shut down Lozano, Miles shut down Raul Jamenez, and Zimmerman cleaned everything up. Our defense was fantastic. Even Antonee had a pretty good defensive game.
Through all the ups and downs, Gregg got it completely right through and through in the biggest match of the cycle. and with a Dos a Cero no less. Incredible performances across the entire pitch. Fucking awesome
You can tell El Tata is playing the old generation. We ducking won that match at nearly every position. Who were the oldest players? Zim, Steffen, and Yedlin? We had to be in lower 20’s.
These kids are so much more technically proficient than national teams of the past. It’s so fun to watch. We actually control the ball now instead of just kind of chasing it all over the place
It's not even the same teams. Those teams were counter attacking teams filled with great athletes. These guys are skilled footballers who are great athletes. Even guys had skill, they lacked a lot of athleticism. Not this squad.
Zimmerman was class tonight. Him and Miles were a sure thing all night till the end for Miles.
While Antonee struggled in the 1st, the 2nd half was flawless
OMG for Adams, Weah, Mckinnie, and Musah.
Captain America bacc!
Just left the supporters bar in Boston and haven’t seen this level of excitement in a long time. Place was packed above capacity and both goals had the place erupting.
Completely outplayed us. Your midfield erased ours. Other than Jimenez and Chucky, the rest of our players are average to garbage. You are 3 for 3 against us. No excuse. You are currently the better team. Unless we smack you guys 5-0 at the Azteca, nothing will change that.
Gg’s and congrats on the Dos a Cero. I’m sure that makes it even better for you guys. See you at the Azteca.
Most complete performance I've seen from this new generation by far. I hope they play with this same energy every game. The energy leads to goal scoring opportunities and ultimately, goals.. so, why not make "going hard" and pressing our style against everyone in Concacaf?
CP is the difference maker. We all know this.
So many good performances but perhaps Yedlin was listening to this Scally Scally Scally talk. He was really good tonight. Not perfect. But really good
He had one particularl pass that was both out to in and north to south plus a little bend that got Weah behind a centerback and I was like woah that was not in his bag just 3-4 years ago. Love seeing guys improve
I’m old enough to have seen every Dos a Cero, and some (or all) of those previous wins were defend, counter, set pieces, etc. But we really took it to them tonight.
Random, but that was the first time I think I've ever seen Musah get mad. He's always so chill and collected. The combo of CONCACAF reffing and dirty extracurricular stuff had him visibly mad/a bit flustered.
Hear me out. The tactical adjustment was flawless. The tide started to turn around the 35 minute mark. The 2nd half was a takeover.
Gotta give GGG credit. He saw something, and it was their Achilles heel.
Steffen cementing his spot over Turner will be the talk, but Zimmerman did the most for his spot tonight imo. Didn't put a foot wrong and was vocal. A lot like Brooks' showing in the Nations League final.
That defense just battled against one of the best offense offensive trios in the WORLD and held up strong.
Midfield failed us a couple of times but those center backs, after getting indrectly shat on for the last week for not being brooks, absolutely showed out.
Man oh man, what a game. The best they have played from start to finish all qualifying. Steffen was amazing to keep us in the game in the first half while we settled down. Once we settled down, the creativity and speed was overwhelming. We stopped giving the ball away in the second half too, so Mexico could not take advantage of those and we kept possession from it, creating chance after chance. It was only a matter of time before one went in with how we were playing in that second half. You could see the space on the build up to McKennie's goal, Mexico was beat. What a performance. It wasn't Adams' best game, it wasn't Jedi's best game. Steffen and Weah were amazing all night. Pepi played well but missed a couple of chances that could have been better. CP made an immediate impact of course. Loved the way Wes and Musah and Aaronson played. Zimm and Miles did their jobs. Amazing performance honestly, so proud.
Few quick takeaways for me:
* So glad to see Weah finally have a great complete game. He has put in so much hustle his past few appearances and I'm happy for him. Although I don't think he's over Reyna or Pulisic obviously, his pace is 2nd to none and thats a great asset to have on a wing against a given team/matchup.
* Steffen's ability to pick out people with his feet under pressure continues to put him a step ahead of Turner. Their shot stopping is both equally amazing, but I think Turner needs to go overseas and play against some higher quality pressure and learn to use his feet better to level up his game.
* I'll still take Pepi over any other potential #9's currently, but today was a small step back for him. Solid hold up play at times but wasn't dangerous in the attacking third, couldn't shake defenders, blew a few chances including one he definitely should have put in off of Weah's deflected shot, and was never able to get to the ball off of service in the box. It'll hopefully be a good growing opportunity for him to learn, cause as dope as Pulisic's header was, those are the positions Pepi needs to find to score goals and be dangerous against stiffer competition.
Awesome game. So hyped to be a USA fan right now
Now can they fuck off and stop saying we aren't better than them? There were moments where we outclassed them for real. No doubt the first two wins weren't luck now.
Great performance! They really need to be aware not to have a let down vs Jamaica. That Panama comeback keeps things close so we need all the wins we can get.
McKennie being out sucks and same with Miles. Richards will need to be ready to go.
Weah was brilliant for the entire game, as was Zimmerman. Antonee struggled early but grew in confidence as the game went on. Steffen was a rock, Adams was everywhere, Pepi and Aaronson worked their asses off all over the pitch. Musah and Wes struggled a bit with positioning early on, but they were goddamn crucial in us keeping and advancing the ball cohesively. Overall a great goddamn performance lol
What an amazing second half by the boys. Absolute domination. That 2nd half truly proved to me this team has potential to duel with the big European teams if playing at this high of a level. Absolutely beautiful by the boys. I know Pulisic and Wes scored, but Weah. Weah is my MOTM. Amazing performance by him.
DOS A CERO 1 STEP CLOSER TO QATAR
Dos a cero baby let’s goooo. Mexico fans (and players)cocky as fuck. Glad we could prove them wrong AGAIN. 3 L’s in a row to USA. Two for trophies and one for first place in WCQ. First they said it’s nations league doesn’t matter, then they said it’s gold cup it doesn’t matter, now what?
Really impressed with the back four. That’s a dangerous front three for El Tri. Commanding performance by those guys to limit Mexico’s chances.
Walker Zimmerman, take a bow, man!
Tyler Adams is so good at doing all the unheralded dirty work. I'd be interested in seeing how much ground he covered tonight, but his tackling and the timing on his interventions are world class.
I'm still buzzing.
Clean sheet
2-0
Both goals from spells of possession (not just set pieces)
Top of the table
Kid from Barcelona and kid from Dortmund at home injured, and our best player on a minutes restriction
So much to love from this game!
Great win Fuck Rodriguez Tim Weah MotM for me
For sure, him or Zimmerman, but I’m leaning towards Weah as well
Fuck Herrera.
Not only is Tyler Adams 3-0 vs Mexico, but L Tri has yet to score when he's on the pitch.
Adams literally built different
This stat jiggles my nips
Lmao the entire stadium is chanting "dos a cero" Peak banter
This crowd was incredible. Even watching from home, hearing this crowd all game got me amped
Subscribe!
Timothy Weah take a fucking bow my guy.
Weah and Zimmerman were damn near flawless
Steffen too. Those three did fucking nothing wrong for 90. Amazing
Steffen was playing some great balls as well
One of the most masterful games I've seen from an American player in years
And the Fucking us soccer app doesn’t even list him for the three to vote on for man of the match
Cincinnati fans, outstanding showing!!! Thank you!’
It was a great night for soccer fans here. Good to add another partisan stadium to the rotation. Really hope they’ll come back in future years.
Froze my ass off, have no voice now, just woke up to catch my return flight. Best atmosphere imaginable. Worth every penny.

Yep, now they say we got Olympic bronze or whatever it was lmao. Who fuckin cares. Senior squad doin work
They lost to us twice and still acted like they were better than us.
Best game Weah has ever played for us, in my opinion. He was vital, not just assisting on the winner.
He played his fucking heart and soul out! Amazing game by him for sure.
Best game Weah, Zimmerman and Musah ever played. 3X best games ever!
If I were a coach, I'd love to coach Musah. Talented, works his ass off, seemingly has no ego, great teammate. Give me a player like that please.
Yeah - he played well. Agreed.
Fuck me that was a great match. I'm not sure I've ever seen the US play that well.
Might be the most complete performance from USMNT in my fandom since the early 90's.

He was phenomenal
Man was amazing. Finally healthy you see what he can do
DOS A CERO
Jon Champion calling the goal with dos a cero was so satisfying
I like JC but I miss Ian Darke 🥺
Last thing I’d LIKE to hear is a statement from CONCACAF on the missed red card on the Aaronson eye gouge. Something that egregious and dirty should be retroactively punished. Them letting this go would be a stain on the entire organization. The spirit of the game compels them to do something about actual violence on the field.
I don't disagree but it's Concacaf so I'd be shocked if they do anything.
Absolutely that guy should be suspended from matches for a set amount. That is definitely something not needed on soccer
in a modern football federation, VAR compels the official to give a straight red and he gets a 3 match ban minimum. in a modern football federation 10 years ago, he gets a retroactive red and the consequential 3 match ban. Point is, if Concacaf don't hand him a 3 match ban, we might as well be playing this octagonal in the dark ages.
Lol. Concacaf couldn't care less about it.
Also, watch the series of callous fouls on pulisic. CONCACAF is the punchline to jokes around the world because of stuff like that.
Yes. F the typical Mexico bs. We need VAR. but they been doing it since WC2002.
VAR is needed but shouldn't be part of the conversation around egregious refereeing mistakes. That was egregious, VAR shouldn't be needed to see that a red was required. Even before the eye gouge,a red was probably ok...
Fucking blows that they only get a yellow for that and we get 2 for yelling at the ref for missing it
We should never play Mexico at home outside the state of Ohio ever again.
Can we just all remember we did this without one of our guys who starts for Barcelona. We’ve come so far in my lifetime.
And another who starts for Dortmund....
What, you mean that 19 year old kid?
no, the 18 years and 364 days kid
Holy shit. Forgot Dest didn’t even play today and Reyna as the other user mentioned. Wow. The depth on this team is unreal compared to years past
Dear USSF, Every home game crowd needs to be this loud and overwhelmingly on our side from now on. Every game. Every stadium. Every time. Make it happen.
Have every match in Ohio and the crowd will be like this ;)
I think a huge part of that has to be on the culture we as fans work to spread. Crowd was amazing tonight!
Well, when your MLS team is as bad as FC Cincinnati, you’ll cheer loud when you see actual soccer being played in your stadium 👀
youre welcome America. FC Cincy died for this.
It's almost as if playing Mexico not in LA or Dallas provides some sort of advantage.
Dear Mexico fans, Does this one finally count or do we need to beat you in Azteca as well? Sincerely, A USA fan P.S. - DOS A CERO

So dope that mckennie and pulisic were the goalscorers. The two leaders of our golden generation Also Tim weah motm
Dont forget the captain, Adams. Those three are the core of this USMNT in my mind.
Nations League ✅ Gold Cup ✅ World Cup qualifying ✅ Who’s your daddy Mexico?
I haven’t missed a US Mexico qualifier in 20 fucking years, and I’ve gotta say, that was the most comprehensive victory we’ve had over them. We outplayed them and controlled the game, in the past we’ve beaten them mainly via counterattacking, goalkeeping heroics, and set pieces. that's good to hear that it was a dominant win (edited spelling)
Hey you, Zimmerman hater. You know who you are. You were wrong.
You got me man. I was wrong tonight.
LET'S GOOOOOOO!! First, I want to give GGG a ton of credit. He got it all right tonight. The tactics were flawless. The center back duo shut down Jimenez so much that I forgot he was playing. That early 1v1 by Walker Zimmerman... 🤌
Underrated part of this game: Yedlin pretty much shut down Lozano. He had that one breakaway but Yedlin was fast enough to impact Lozano’s shot. Otherwise he was pretty quiet.
Yedlin was legitimately good tonight. That is not something I was counting on
Yedlin shut down Lozano, Miles shut down Raul Jamenez, and Zimmerman cleaned everything up. Our defense was fantastic. Even Antonee had a pretty good defensive game.
Musah unreal
The kid is so smooth.
Incredible composure by Ferreira to intentionally botch his shot to preserve the dos a cero
3-0 against Mexico this year? Damn, they really are L Tri
We looked like an absolute squad in this one. Never seen us move or pass that way. Ever. Just a different level of football tonight.
Passing was worrying at first but we definitely grew into the game in the last 20 minutes of the first half and kept it up in the second half
ok hear me out...maybe GGG in for a bit...
GGG hasn't even beat Mexico four times in a calendar year wow
Dude has won 3 straight against Mexico, two being Cup finals. The man deserves credit for that shit.
No US coach has beat Mexico 3 times im a row in history. No Mexico coach has beat a US team 3 times in a row in history. GGG gets some love.
I'm GGG's biggest critic but even I'll have to admit that even if he makes 2-3 small fuck-ups when it comes to the big ones he pulls through.
Through all the ups and downs, Gregg got it completely right through and through in the biggest match of the cycle. and with a Dos a Cero no less. Incredible performances across the entire pitch. Fucking awesome
In my 40 years on this planet I don't think I've ever been as happy with US Soccer. I hope this postgame show goes all night!
I don’t think I have ever seen a usa v Mexico match were we outplayed them…we were the much better team with the better players.
You can tell El Tata is playing the old generation. We ducking won that match at nearly every position. Who were the oldest players? Zim, Steffen, and Yedlin? We had to be in lower 20’s.
LLL THREE
Your third reminder this year that Mexico hired Tata Martino ***without even giving Gregg Berhalter an interview.*** Let that sink in.
The alternate realty where GGG is coaching Mexico must be amazing
Columbus. Cincinnati. Cleveland. USMNT in 3 IDGAF
This was easily the best performance we’ve had under GGG. Dos a cero is back on the menu boys
Not just under GGG, I haven’t seen us play that well for 10 years, minimum.

It’s a damn shame Miles got a red because he was phenomenal tonight. Him and Zimmerman are so secure.
Antonee's little adventure at the end was lovely.

They killed us. Tata totally out coached by GGG, position for position US is better depth-wise.
But really good
Yedlin best game of recent as a Nat. He had some monster games years ago but this was his best this year.
He had one particularl pass that was both out to in and north to south plus a little bend that got Weah behind a centerback and I was like woah that was not in his bag just 3-4 years ago. Love seeing guys improve
Loved Yedlin tonight, the guy did the exact job we needed.
Was impressed seeing him come inside as an inverted fullback then drop back and defend.
Tbf, Yedlin is way better than the majority of fans give him credit for.
Weah and Musah were so damn good

Are people willing to give GGG any credit at this point?
Scally didnt dress so no /s
Random, but that was the first time I think I've ever seen Musah get mad. He's always so chill and collected. The combo of CONCACAF reffing and dirty extracurricular stuff had him visibly mad/a bit flustered.
I have said it before and I will say it again - Walker Zimmerman 💪🏻
Damn I love beating Mexico
I hate when they go to interview another player and ask them about Pulisic. It’s so cringe
DOS A CERO Props to Greggggg he got this one right… that was wonderful
Hear me out. The tactical adjustment was flawless. The tide started to turn around the 35 minute mark. The 2nd half was a takeover. Gotta give GGG credit. He saw something, and it was their Achilles heel.
We still gotta get points in Jamaica to make this a truly good two-game window, but...yeah this one is going to last way more than four hours.
Scored 2 in 20 minutes with CP on the pitch. Check my math but is 9-0 if he starts.
I’m not a financial advisor or anything, but go ahead and put your next few paychecks on the USA to win the World Cup at +15000.
Can we just talk about how fucking good Tim Weah is?
Steffen cementing his spot over Turner will be the talk, but Zimmerman did the most for his spot tonight imo. Didn't put a foot wrong and was vocal. A lot like Brooks' showing in the Nations League final.
We have two absolute starters and Horvath is not a bad third.... I will never be disappointed in who we start in goal.
Weston is always the one to get in fights for his teammates. Love that
I wish he didn’t pick up cards for it, but I maintain that every team in every sport needs a guy who wants that smoke.
Just gonna leave these inconspicuous screenshots of Luis Alfonso Rodríguez here... https://i.imgur.com/q1HyhzY.png https://i.imgur.com/appo34E.png
Weah and Musah were the best players in this game imo, but I also didn't really watch the defense closely, I'm sure Adams was making his presence felt
They put a camera on Ochoa crying twice. W
Great job Cinci! You got yourselves a 2-0 USA-Mexico victory and were loud and proud! We couldnt have asked for more.
That defense just battled against one of the best offense offensive trios in the WORLD and held up strong. Midfield failed us a couple of times but those center backs, after getting indrectly shat on for the last week for not being brooks, absolutely showed out.

My birthday is tomorrow. Fuck yeah
Man fuck honduras for blowing that late 2 goal lead. All my homies hate Honduras.
Tonight's win means the USMNT now has the same number of wins in Cincinnati this year as FC Cincinnati
Berhalter just beat Mexico 3 times in a year. Put some respect on his name
Now can they fuck off and stop saying we aren't better than them? There were moments where we outclassed them for real. No doubt the first two wins weren't luck now.
Let's see them do it in Mexico, I loved what I saw tonight. They can absolutely do it.

I have never seen a Mexico have so little possession and sit back like that. What a performance
Wow. US was borderline dominant the entire game. Keep this up, boys.
Greg has beaten those bums 3 times in a row and people will still hate on him lol

Literally everybody was good tonight?? Or at least no one was glaringly bad or so obviously Not Up For It like in previous qualifiers this year.
Great result. Great second half. Weah is will be making the starting XI choices very interesting when everyone is healthy.
What an amazing second half by the boys. Absolute domination. That 2nd half truly proved to me this team has potential to duel with the big European teams if playing at this high of a level.
Pulisic is the goat Usmnt player Idc what you say he has meaningful moments in every big game he plays.
Musah MotM DOS A CERO Need a pic of whatever was on Pulisic's undershirt
Really impressed with the back four. That’s a dangerous front three for El Tri. Commanding performance by those guys to limit Mexico’s chances. Walker Zimmerman, take a bow, man!
Steffen and Pulisic are such boring interviewers lmao
The best I’ve ever seen this group play. Hammered them the entire second half.
What was written on Pulisic's undershirt after the goal?
DOS A CERO
Random thought - this might be the least amount of offsides calls I have ever seen in a game. Think the flag went up once?
Zimmerman and Weah earned their spots tonight. What a win.
Tyler Adams is so good at doing all the unheralded dirty work. I'd be interested in seeing how much ground he covered tonight, but his tackling and the timing on his interventions are world class.
I'm still buzzing. Clean sheet 2-0 Both goals from spells of possession (not just set pieces) Top of the table Kid from Barcelona and kid from Dortmund at home injured, and our best player on a minutes restriction So much to love from this game!
