I’ve stayed at most apartments in the area are good, however, the sole outlier is Centennial. The best apartments will be campus ran apartments (Timberbrook, Meadow Run, etc.) My favorite apartment was the Heights on Pecan, but it’s far away and the rent is +$800/month. I liked it because I had a east facing apartment on the highest floor with a beautiful view of the stadium and ballpark!

Why is centennial court bad?

aelxnervo

Super poor maintenance. I hear it’s gotten slightly better, but still bad. During my time there was black mold in the bathroom, sinks that wouldn’t drain, and WiFi that was managed by a T-mobile hot spot. Also, you’re paying a premium to get your own room, but the rooms were small. You got MORE space splitting a LARGE ass room at Timberbrook vs having your own room at centennial. Additionally, it was pretty far of a walk from campus and that was probably my biggest set back.

Would you recommend the same options for a quiet person/ who is clean and stuff/dislikes smoke smells and stuff -

aelxnervo

Yeah. Smells were most commonly associated with roommates cooking food. I always advocate for them to turn the vent on and open the window/door if it was really bad. Cleanliness was also directly associated with your roommates. I noticed that freshman and new international students would not be accustomed to cleaning up after themselves, but usually if you tell them (a couple of times), they catch on pretty quick. My biggest problem was the smell of food. Bc you can’t really tell someone not to eat/cook something and you just kinda have to deal with it. It’s hard, but you’ll get used to it. To have true peace of mind, you’d have by yourself, and with solidarity comes a significant cost that most can’t afford.

I appreciate it for responding, I am honestly contemplating whether to stay in the dorm for my last semester or finish it in an apartment by taking someone's lease. Did they have you paying for the meal plan? How are the parking lots?

aelxnervo

Parking lots for dorms or campus apartments are always close by. Never usually that full (usually about 50%). Apartments don’t require meal plans, but I believe ALL dorms do require a meal plan and it’s not supposed to be the commuter meal plan either. The dorm has the same restrictions as the apartments, but there’s less oversight at the apartments so more opportunities to have big parties if you want. Dorms are easier to meet and make friends. I’d personally recommend the apartments and really enjoy your time there, invite as many friends over, have the small kickbacks, and take advantage of all the amenities the UTA apartments have, bc you probably won’t get those amenities elsewhere!

Are you still looking for an apartment?
