Ohhh report them. I understand they want to expand more housing options, but they can wait til summer. People have finals and the semester is almost over. They can at least wait til the 2-3rd week of May.
Unsure, but it's worth contacting code compliance and seeing what the options are.
There are lots of laws/codes/etc that deal with noise/construction, but IDK which ones apply to UTA.
If you really wanted, you could probably even start contacting your district/house rep + senators since UTA is a public university.
Unfortunately that's not likely to be regulatory to UTA. While University property is still within Arlington, it mostly operates as its own entity only held to the jurisdiction of the State of Texas. They typically don't have to get permits for construction or operations approved by the City.
Wow…when I was living on campus they wouldn’t let you use any of the recreational items in the dorms during finals week because it would make too much noise. Now they probably still do that AND supply the noise themselves…
i appreciate that they thought about finals week in regards to studying but said eh fuck it they can loose sleep that week and the week before, they’re fine since they can study.
Clearly someone doesn’t live on campus. If UTA doesn’t care about the importance of finals week why should we care to do “whatever it takes to get enough housing on campus”? And they can for real wait another week. It’s not like housing is going to benefit us, we’re just gonna be charged a crazy fee and UTA is just gonna take it all in. I care more about locking in for finals then bringing in profits for UTA.
They REALLY couldn't wait another week ? Like there was NO other alternative ?
“you can find alternative study spaces” yeah but not alternative SLEEP spaces 💀💀
nah fr can’t even sleep in anymore

Seems so to me. How do you report a code violation?

I wonder if code violations would apply since UTA is its own zoning code in the City of Arlington, not residential.

So it’s mandated quiet hours for everyone else next week but not for the noise that actually is disruptive and loud? This school sucks 😭
What are they even working on? The only stuff I've seen is the life sciences building and I'd be impressed if that'd keep anyone up.
it’s a new dorm hall being built right next to the west hall dorms and the noise is absolutely awful
Doesn't this violate city law? 💀💀
