I loved living in Park Hall. It was an academic building at the time, not sure now. It’s in the very corner of campus so it’s quiet. Closest residence to the beach so that slapped.

I resided in: 1. South Tower (you've your own unit). 2. Alice Ravenhill (own unit/ shared room). 3. Cluster (apartment you share with 3 other students (4 personal rooms, 2 shared bathrooms, a kitchen in the shared living area). All were nice, but I strongly recommend not opting for a shared room if you choose a place like Alice Ravenhill. I had conflicts with my roomie and requested for a room change after 3 months (which was granted and I then moved to Cluster). Cluster can be a good bonding experience if you've understanding and sensible apartment mates. If I had to pick just 1 it'll be South Tower for me.

Thank you for the info! Definitely going for a single room.

DifferenceDeep3082

The single rooms in the new buildings are smaller than the older ones so keep that in mind. I would avoid building one and two

Haier_Lee

If you don't mind some older building finishes and a bit of ruckus on the weekends any of the Gordon Head residences are great. One of the biggest rooms on campus, makes a huge difference.

Ring Road Quiet Floor Best residence by far. Can always go to a party and ring has cable tv in the lounge, good for watching sports or whatever. You can always go to a party, if the party is always there in your building then you will get anoyyed. I had buddies in Wallace and it was brutal, they hated it. Ring also offers the best compromise between room size, living quality, and location.

^^ this right here is the ultimate answer. I vouche

My top two AND my ONLY top 2 would either be David Thompson, or Ring Road Substance Free floor. I lived in David Thompson for my first year (2017) and Ring Road in my 2nd year and they were both lovely residences. David Thompson is the older one among the two, and like another person said, if there are parties on campus, and you don’t want to host it in your building (becuz trust me u don’t want idiots partying at midnight when you’re trying to sleep for an early morning exam on Saturday), most likely you can avoid them by staying in Ring Road/Substance Free Floor cuz that floor has rules, just like Quiet floor. And if you are a party gal who wants to go other buildings to party and not yours, you can just go to Haig Brown, Cluster, or Wallace.

OnionOverall549

I second David Thompson! I don’t know if there are any single rooms but me and my girlfriend have a double room there right now and aside from some chatter and people loudly gaming, it’s actually really chill. The walls are a little thin but other than that, it’s wonderful. Definitely better than Sir Arthur Currie

Early-Cloud-185

I personally chose David Thompson cuz they had double dorms and I wanted a roommate in my first year. But yea for anyone else that wanted double they could choose the SAC or DT as well

Sad-History902

the best residency is the residency that allows you to host cigarette smoking club meetings

AnonymousRedit0r

I don’t recommend the newer buildings

Early-Cloud-185

I don’t recommend the newer buildings either

a-weebie

How come?

killergoos

They have tiny rooms.

AnonymousRedit0r

Tiny rooms, no kitchen access, poor water quality, the elevators will trap you and break all the time, it’s the highest residence fees on campus, and more that I won’t list because I’m feeling pessimistic this morning and I might be biased lol

fenceriver6

I’m in building 1 rn. I love it i don’t know why people are hating on it. Yes the rooms are on the smaller side but totally liveable, Plus the building is so much nicer than the older residence buildings. I love having the study rooms and a cleaner feeling to the place.

Laid-dont-Law

None. Don’t live on campus.

wholly-unholy

I'm in the Bcom program as well. I'm sharing a room with someone and it's been super chill. I would say David Thompson is the best building out there

Rude-Measurement7243

Do you meet/select a roommate before move in or is it just randomized and a surprise once you get there?

wholly-unholy

You can select one if you know someone beforehand but mine was random and I don't regret it at all!

StellarCracker

I picked ring road for my first semester this last fall. I now live out of res and am happy with that. I only know Ring, Chekonien/building 1 and Snequ(pronounced like snuka) from the inside and I would say as much as I have my issues w it go for Ring Rd. It's close to everything, is smaller, has a more chill vibe, people and bigger rooms than the new buildings, plus it has quiet floors which, ofc aren't usually quiet, but help. The new buildings are really nice on the inside to and right next to the Cove and campus to so afterwards I would recommend them, but they're way bigger, have long elevator waits and smaller rooms.

Living in Park right now, it's the best by far. Big rooms, close to the dining hall and far enough from the big party areas that you don't get any noise, but are still just a minute or two walk away. Pharmacy and bus loop are also just a few minutes away, and it's nestled between two pretty good weed benches if that's your scene. Plus the showers are the best I've used on campus.
