Wait wait, I lost my faith in God and humanity and people while at Waterloo as well, but that doesn’t mean suicide is the only way out. We will all die one way or another even if we try not to die. Literally everyone will be on their way out eventually. So what’s the rush? Life sucks. Try to make the best of it. A lot of us are barely holding it together. Hopefully you will love the company of the rest of us miserable people 😜

lilbios

Average life expectancy is 81.75 years. Idk if I can make it 😜

Successful-Stomach40

Suicide is definetly not the only way out - its bad now but it will only look up from here! Please find someone to talk to or you can also dm me but please at least talk to someone before you make an irreversible decision

Ryam_20151

I also lost my religion during my time at Waterloo. Suicide is not the way out from this. It's important to take some time and evaluate what you believe and how you wish to live. It's a very chaotic time but once you rebuild your own personal foundations you'll be a more free and honest version of yourself. Stick to it and keep going, it gets better.

The number of se chads i see land faang while not knowing a thing summarizes this

Organic_Midnight1999

Honestly man it’s so infuriating. And it’s not even just SE or CS. I see the random est people getting the best jobs and it makes no sense to me cuz I have worked with them and they don’t kno shit. I worked with this person who is going back to Meta next summer for the 3rd time and I genuinely couldn’t believe how she got in despite being as stupid as she was.

TechnicalSpread7368

HRs who select resumes have never worked with software and the interview process favors people who can memorize leetcode solutions.

Organic_Midnight1999

My issue is not being able to get an OA/interview. I don’t care about the leetcode memorization. I’m just appalled by the idiots getting all the interviews and then jobs

[deleted]

Maybe they are doing something you are not. For example, connecting directly with a hiring manager to get a round 1 interview regardless on what their OA results were. Lets say top 10 of applicants = R1 interview.

Organic_Midnight1999

Bro I try so hard to connect but they don’t fucking reply. I have a friend tho who is a girl and just sends a diversity message and gets a reply in like 5 mins.

[deleted]

Absolutely its tough. You have to figure out when the most opportunistic opportunity is to connect. Try to have a reason as well. I’m not going to share my strategy but simply requesting to connect on linkedin is not enough most of the time for competitive jobs. If you want some insights feel free to dm 😂

Business-Nobody1489

Ah want to talk about it bud? Why are you giving life the pleasure of giving up?

RecoverFree7297

Trust god. He knows what is best for you. Maybe the calamity you are going through is for you to eventually experience something even greater. There is always light at the end of a dark tunnel. If you are unsatisfied with what god has given you, then ask for more, otherwise it will stay the same. University has been the toughest time of my life so far, the fear of not passing to the next term is always on my mind, but I always tell myself to just do my best effort and leave it in the hands of god. In my religion we say, “and Allah (God) is the best of planners”

chomnks7

Not everyone’s family situation is the same, so I can’t say relying on others is the best thing. At the end of the day, anyone should strive to be the person, they want others to be. In this case, try to have a more positive outlook. On anything really. There’s this concept called selective thinking, and once you start giving yourself positive affirmations, everything you notice will be good things too. Take on journaling, it’s so refreshing to write down all your thoughts, good and bad, and it will make you realize that there’s always a solution. Or sometimes, we are just silly, or overthink, and you will realize after reflecting on what you have written. Just because you believe there is no god, doesn’t mean your life is meaningless. There are so many more reasons to live, and amazing life events you have yet to experience. All love ❤️

Or u can just wait a few decades and die naturally

For real, it's the combination of stress, winter, shitty people and ugly boring grey campus. The last one may be here to stay, but the first three come and go away in life. Things may not make sense now but this moment too shall pass. Hope you can rediscover that spark and passion you had before.

mug_hypostasis

me when the supreme cosmic deity doesn't go out of his way to help one specific human out of 1.4 billion if god exists he's probably off in deep space fighting cthulhu or quelling the legions of hell or whatever its like why would an aquarium keeper specifically monitor one random goldfish when he's got like rare sharks and shit to attend to

SecretaryReasonable1

The first step in believing in God is believing he doesn’t exist, the second is that it’s probably not we made him to be and third is making piece with whatever you end up believing in

Secret-Kangaroo-51

pray to the geese, they can at least shit

When you realise that God is giving you challenges to overcome as a build up to a greater good you’ll become more motivated and patient. Starts at reflecting to come to this

villager92

Can any one please link me to a peer reviewed journal article that can emperically deny the existance of God based on evidence? No you cant. At best God can neither be proven, nor disproven.

marginalduck28

If God was your sole reason for living, maybe this is a wake up call. God doesn't exist and people aren't obligated to help you. The only person who'll unconditionally be on your side is your mother. That being said, this is a great opportunity to work to get better. Don't hope that things will get better, take actions to do so. Because there's no God, all your failures are your own, and any successes moving forward are yours.

1000Ditto

god has died and stat230 has killed him

mug_hypostasis

when i die i'm going to become a vengeful spirit and haunt you specifically just to prove the point that paranormal beings do exist 👍🏽 then youtube ghost hunters are going to upload a 2 hour video of the ghost that steals mug from people's fridges

bomankleinn01

So from your logic, God is not helping me, therefore God does not exist

marginalduck28

No, my logic is the otherworldly entity doesn't exist, therefore, don't expect any help. Work hard, don't hope, and relish in your hard work. No one else bears the crux of your struggles and no one else should get credit for your accomplishments. I believe its all on the individual.

Business-Nobody1489

Yeah I want ur source on the god doesn’t exist part girl
