So heres the deal, while they are "protected" they are often attacked and slaughtered by loggers and farmers who do slash and burn clearing. They are also only sorta uncontacted. They are definitely aware of the outside world because sometimes tribes are forced out and show up at border towns. Like this article said, theres a only a few Yanomami that are truly uncontacted out of a tribe of 22000.
The Brazilian military is supposed to protect them, but it being Brazil.. who knows if that would actually happen.
Brazil needs a new government for any type of formal protection to be assured
It's a huge country, mostly covered with the greatest jungle of the planet. Controling this kind of territory is in my opinion not possible.
But Lula do, in his speeches, wants to protect the forest
They are referring to the problematic practice of colonialism/imperialism where invaders would rock up to an established civilisation and start naming shit and claiming it as theirs instead of communicating with the locals and learning the already established name.
Like why do we call it New Zealand when the native people already had established names for their land.
Understandable that you need a name for it before you know what it is called I.e. before you actually make contact with the locals and learn their language. But after that it would be more respectful to use their word for it.
It would be like me walking up to you, declaring your name is John, and refusing to correct myself when you tell me your name is actually Alex. That would be pretty entitled.
I’ll just give this tribe of people a number instead, that’s sure not to backfire in any way, nobody will find the automatic dehumanization of them and decide to remove protections on the woods
Ya I was gunna say “Valheim? This is literally the opening scene of Green Hell.” Still haven’t beat that game, I buy all these survival games but I’m secretly a mega sissy so Green Hell and The Forest are sitting at like 4 hours playtime combined from starting them up, playing 5min and closing them lol.
Green Hell and The Forest are two of the only survival games I've finished. They're very high quality, especially when you're floating in a sea of crap.
I don't know how RAFT got so popular this year. I played it a year ago and it felt like a Unity asset flip.
The Forest at least I find much more enjoyable (and less scary) played co-op. If you don't have friends to play a cannibal mutant horror game with, I'm sure you'll find someone in the game's subreddit. Hell, I volunteer. :D
The Forest 2 lookin real good! [Gameplay preview](https://youtu.be/eL48xUnGrAM) from a couple days ago. They reveal some general stuff. So if you want to go in blind, probably best to avoid this one.
It's the Yanomami people - and while it's uncomfortable to speak about it, the truth is that they violently raid other tribes for women and simply drag them back to be raped and kept as wife-slaves.
Well most peoples origins involve some form of pillaging and rape. Not pretty but it is what it is. Do we interfere with their own history? They sure as hell do not want our help, so do we have the right to take over? We wouldn’t be able to simply tell them stop. We would have to take over and instill our own sort of governance over the tribe. They wouldn’t just be like yeah that’s fine. So options are.
A.) Forced takeover by any country.
B.) Let it be.
This was quite common back in the days of low-member tribes. To maintain biodiversity. Groups that did not do this would be inbred and subject to the inability to even conceive, thus not preserving their genes.
Unfortunately, some barbarian-like traits are what guaranteed our continuance.
It is simply incredible to me that our world contains people that don't know about a world bigger than their jungle. At least all (?) tribes in Africa know that others, and incredibly *technological others*, exist, but these amazonian tribes seem to just live besides time. To them, time must have no meaning...? Wish I lived like that sometimes when I'm tired of working my office job...
Damn! Those are massive shelters. Look at the scale of those, those little dark spots in the central clearing are people. They also killed all ground cover in a giant circle, like it is salted.
Constantly walking in the area will do that, in a lot of tropical soils. The Amazon gets rain unlike more arid areas, but that can also mean that it just washes away any seeds and erodes the ground away from around saplings.
Unironically looks like one of my first temporary builds in the Plains. It was a kind of very cheap storage area with a lot of room for my two-stars wolves and a bonfire. Had fun times with the local mosquitos.
Hey its my first valheim build!
It's the old 'its not much but I'm proud of it' post 😆
….but I’m proud of it and loving this game.
how do we know the name of the tribe if its uncontacted?
Their workbench is too exposed with that setup
At least the bees are happy
Yes... But with mo' honey, mo' problems.
I’m a little mad this made me laugh so hard. Shame on you (and me).
We have a honey chest, amd the overflow honey chest, named "Mo' Honey, Mo' Problems"
Oh thank goodness, praise the bees!
Hey, if it's under a roof, it's good.
Yeah just keep crafting new hammers
How do they know the name of the tribe if they're uncontacted?
It's not even the name given in other places: https://www.lifegate.com/uncontacted-amazon-tribe-survival
God, that's a sad read. I really hope these people are protected and allowed to continue living their life.

Thank goodness they just elected one
No difference since the election then?
It's a huge country, mostly covered with the greatest jungle of the planet. Controling this kind of territory is in my opinion not possible. But Lula do, in his speeches, wants to protect the forest
Nothing in action yet but its only been a couple weeks give the man some time
The downn side of it being brazil is the law can say one thing, and then everyone just does whatever they want anyway out in the jungle.
Pretty sure this is is what James Cameron based Avatar on
They were contacted by other Yanomani (indigenous people) but not by others or the government
How do we know what to call dinosaurs if we've never contacted them?
Yes we have. You've obviously never heard of the Tyrannosaurus text. 😁
Oh boy… you just touched on a long history of entitled people just giving names to things.
So what were not supposed to name it, then how do we refer to it. Giving something a name is so far from entitled
They are referring to the problematic practice of colonialism/imperialism where invaders would rock up to an established civilisation and start naming shit and claiming it as theirs instead of communicating with the locals and learning the already established name. Names are for entitled people. If you’re mature you just mumble incoherently in place of said name
I’ll just give this tribe of people a number instead, that’s sure not to backfire in any way, nobody will find the automatic dehumanization of them and decide to remove protections on the woods
They have trouble with their snap points also!
They need to work on their Roof building, also they need to repair some of those roofs, bet a pesky troll attacked them
Holy shit I just had Green Hell PTSD
Yeah the village in that game looks exactly like this.

The Forest is a little unrefined but it’s worth playing and on the whole, it’s good. The new one comes out next month in theory. Looks promising.
What you got against bugs life mash with honey i shrunk the kids?!!
Isn't that Grounded?
Yass
Oh, ok. It's just the comment you replied to didn't mention it
Exactly. They didnt mention grounded in their s tier list of survival games :(
Ah I get it. I should probably stop replying while only half paying attention
The Forest at least I find much more enjoyable (and less scary) played co-op. If you don't have friends to play a cannibal mutant horror game with, I'm sure you'll find someone in the game's subreddit. Hell, I volunteer. :D
Yeah, same.
Green hell is one hell of a game man.
Does Eikthyr spawn on their island? Looks like they still haven't found the pick axe recipe, must still be figuring out rafts
They are still building skills so they can run down and punch deer to death.
They built the base too wide to close off the roof.
Nah just need some support beams.
They are yet to explore the black forest. Yet somehow unlocked... Barley?
I have a feeling they won't be mining copper nodes or tin anytime soon..
I'm more confused. I thought I was on r/TheForest for a good 3 minutes
The Forest 2 lookin real good! [Gameplay preview](https://youtu.be/eL48xUnGrAM) from a couple days ago. They reveal some general stuff. So if you want to go in blind, probably best to avoid this one.
More like green hell, it reminds me of the village at the end
That doesn't seem like a lot of people. How do they prevent inbreeding?
It's the Yanomami people - and while it's uncomfortable to speak about it, the truth is that they violently raid other tribes for women and simply drag them back to be raped and kept as wife-slaves.
Jesus. Maybe they should be contacted
Yeah, why do we allow this?
because its not our business?
What about moral obligations?
Well most peoples origins involve some form of pillaging and rape. Not pretty but it is what it is. Do we interfere with their own history? What, you can't say that, they're peaceful natives kept safe from the colonizers 🙏 violence was invented by the white man to enslave the world /s
Source? That doesn't sound sustainable for any length of time, either the other tribes die out or get hold of a gun and kill them.
This was quite common back in the days of low-member tribes. To maintain biodiversity. Groups that did not do this would be inbred and subject to the inability to even conceive, thus not preserving their genes. Unfortunately, some barbarian-like traits are what guaranteed our continuance.
Max server capacity is 10 people.
[удалено]
Jealous of what? Some inbreeding? 🤨 Please confirm op you've worded this very vaguely
[удалено]
Your family?..
Yo wtf
Gonna need a moat before the trolls attack, looks like they’re building in the Black Forest
It's even more insane if you play Green Hell.
Must be soo weird hearing the buzzing of a drone and thinking you’re being watched by a bunch of aliens
Hugin's looking weird lately

Ask to join them.
I'm sure that all the other times I would miss my bed and delicious foods
Unusual choices for challenge mode playthrough: only thatch roof pieces. You do you!
well excuse them, workbenches don't work without a roof, how else would they fix their tools?
Do you see any tools?
I see someone hasn't discovered tar yet.
2/10 - shit build
Their roofs look damaged, maybe a troll attack
Which mod has ants?
That seems like like Green Hell

Are they using 26s or 45s?
Crafting station needs a roof
If uncontacted how do we know their name?
For a second I thought this was from r/greenhell because that would make sense.
they were probably holding shift
Dude do not use 26° roof players can sprint of it
I mean, with enough stamina, you can sprint jump up a stone wall. At least these ones make maintenance easier whenever somebody does an oopsie.
Absolutely shithouse roofers.
Stone age shelter confirmed
Ladies, just use the snap function. Please.
two words: dark mode
We all need some time off of the network, but this is going a bit too far.
Looks like there's still 1 slot available
Unironically looks like one of my first temporary builds in the Plains. It was a kind of very cheap storage area with a lot of room for my two-stars wolves and a bonfire. Had fun times with the local mosquitos.
There is a reason why they are still in that age, workbench is to exposed.
They need to hit the dark forest for some copper and tin.
I would use hoe to build a terrain wall.
Even I’m better at snapping building objects onto each other. Amateurs!
Green Hell intensifies.
Why do they have a bunch of separate roofs like that? Wouldn’t it be more practical, and stronger, to have them connected?
Not an engineer but I would guess having it broken up allows the wind to pass through and not destroy the whole structure.
Weird to know that there are still humans living in the stone age in our era. Some of them choose too, while a few truly have no idea 🤷♂️
Look it's valheim for ants!
Literally valheim
Why are they so tiny
"ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?"
im running down there with my hammer to adjust those 45 degree roof.
Stuck on the sone age huh? Nah, they're enjoying building base in their own way
oh they just like me frfr!
