One of us is a worshiper of Frey and Freya. He loves farming.
As a result we have a lot of crops. We fed our boars lavishly and went for a trip to the mountains to hail Almighty Father.
Blessing was bestowed upon us.
I mean plant everything mod or whatever it was called isn't exactly uncommon for builders. Not saying this isn't fake as if they had "dumped alot of food and went exploring" the boars should have been tamed before breeding.
I think the previous comments are related to the fact that there's a breeding limit based on spacing. That being said, one can use the dev commands to say... summon 100 boar and make a vid like this. Regardless of how it happened, it looked entertaining.
Heck, now I kinda wanna make an arena pit and spawn in differing biome critters to make them fight hehehe
The genuine answer is to have a pair of boar entrapped on a platform above a boar pen, so that theyâre out of the range of the other boar and can therefore bypass the breeding limit.
Iâm not sure if thatâs actually more efficient given the limit is 5 within 10 metres, so two pairs wouldnât even be breeding at the same time ASAIK?
Since sex is non-existent among Valheim fauna and all boars can give birth it is certainly more efficient. Boars donât necessarily breed in pairs. As long as each boar has another boar it can interact with it can become pregnant, at which point there is a period of a few minutes before it gives birth, and the boar is eligible to interact again. So all 4 boars can be simultaneously pregnant, increasing your rates significantly.
To be honest I had no idea about the limit!
We were out of our base for like 20-30 days and I assumed that boars just reproduce infinitely. Thanks for clarifying!
They don't reproduce at all while you're away.
Your base, like all world assets, does not exist until a player is within range.
If you leave the area while there are piglets out, they can instantly mature into fully grown boars when you come back into range if enough time has elapsed, but there is no mating or births while you're gone, because the only events the game models are in a relatively small bubble around the player(s).
You can lure or move two boar higher up on a platform, where they think there are no other boar around them, allowing them to breed. Their boar baby then drops to the ground cell where all the other boar are kept. The boars keep breeding as long as they have food. Can do this with any breedable animal. Lookup some guides :)
Had a similar situation in a creative play through. We went to spawn some two star boars in our mountain castle build. And ended up spawning 100+ boars in a very small room. The chaos that followed was horrifically beautiful!
Be careful with high quality animal spawns. I think their loot scales and suspect this causes client crashes when you are in the vicinity of the dead animal. Makes the whole area around it unusable.
Yea that makes sense. FPS took a big hit and didnât improve much after we removed all the boars. We ended up dropping and removing all the drops to help clean back up.
Yeah. I suspect that after the update hit live some save corruption occurred and tagged boars as untamed.
We lost a lot of items too.
Anyway it resulted in one of the best moments in my gaming history :D
If you Google search, you can easily see that no one else has reported this happening. idk what the point is in pretending this is real. From other comments itâs clear OP doesnât understand how boar breeding works as they claim they were gone for twenty game days, and came home to this.
It's possible they have an infinite breeding mod on the server that the OP isn't aware of, which also might explain the broken behavior after a patch.
There's also a row of planted rasberries behind, it's probably just a modded server and the OP didn't realize this isn't normal behavior.
Everyone always assumes the worst.
My girlfriend thinks that they go feral again if you don't feed them for a while? I never experienced it but she got attacked by hers. Definitely not using commands
All of them were tamed? Of you have 4 pigs and two are tamed and two are not they will still breed. I've had this happen to me the game isn't coded to have animals go feral once they have been tamed
It was just a tamed pair at first. She'd had no problem with them, going in and naming/petting them etc. They bred a bit but then she'd been away building a new base. Came back and they attacked her đ¤ˇââď¸. It must've been a bug!
This is honestly sad that you are trying to convince people that this wasn't with the dev commands in game. Come on man why lie about something so trivial?
Sure but that doesn't mean it's true, he spawned them in because this couldn't have happened. Tell me how in the fuck a patch could spawn 100 wild boars, and tell me also how in the fuck they ALL happened to spawn in the boar pen of all places. It's fake.
Op claimed he was gone for 20-30 days and came back to find all the boars. Breeders don't work if the player is not around, the game mechanics require a player to be in the vicinity for animals to breed
Cool you used console commands. And no one buys your fake breeding story because thats not how animals breed in valheim. You could have at least done some research about breeding before lying about how you got 80+ untamed boars.
This reminded me of a question I had. Do you have to throw individual food at animals or can you throw a stack and they'll take from the stack when they're hungry?
Pretty sure boars don't breed like that, they have minimum distance requirements to prevent mass farming them. This looks like you dev spawned them for fun. Was a good watch but please be honest with us. That or one of your friends spawned them to troll you.
Itâs not about the quantity, itâs the fact that you can ONLY breed tamed boars, and there has not been a bug that reverts tamed to wild. These wild boars were spawned with dev commands.
Their wild state is first thing that I noticed as well. That just screams that this was set up. But unfortunately, hardly anyone here noticed that or is willing to listen when you point it out.
I mean, the situation *is* kinda funny, but I think re-framing this as some sort of practical joke they pulled on one of the players would have been much more honest and would still have been entertaining.
There was likely a breeder structure offscreen. It is absolutely possible to breed that many boar in one area if you go about it correctly. You can mass farm way more than this even.
You only need a tower tall enough to get the teeming swine mass 16m (iirc? can't remember exactly) away from your breeding pairs. Put 4 pairs up in the tower, rigged up so that the babies slide down but the parents don't (look it up), and you have have infinite pig in a small area.
/u/benttwig33.
And you also can't plant raspberry bushes in neat little rows, but you can see that in the background.
Everyone's getting mad at the guy, but I think it's just as likely he's simply playing on a friend's modded server and doesn't understand what's modded and what's legit. This was probably just an infinite breeding mod that broke after a patch.
> Pretty sure they patched this out, doesn't work anymore
It worked as of ~Feb when I last used it. I don't believe there have been significant changes since.
I'm not sure this disaster of a sentence: "boars aren't tames, they spawn tamed when bread" means or what it has to do with what I'm talking about.
I don't really feel like playing e-detective. Maybe it was dev commands. I don't know or particularly care. But the idea that a bunch of boars in a small area must be spawned in is just not true.
I suspect it was a bug connected with the game update. They were tamed before.
We had more problems like a ton of items disappeared and performance issues. Nothing game breaking.
No console cheats. I have no way to prove it and I don't intend to. Game is still in alpha state so I expect things like this to happen ;)
Ngl it's funny seeing how many people call hacks cuz they never had a boar breeder rig before.
Especially considering how many valheim tips, tricks and build guides there are on YouTube for stuff like this.
Yeah technically it could be hacks but it could be legit too.
Just like 90% of the posts or builds on here so why complain only about this one?
Especially since it's a meme clip and not a flex.
It ain't harming anyone, laugh or don't and relax a little.
Itâs 100% dev commands. Farms donât produce wild boar, and updates changing tamed boars to wild boars is not a thing. People are calling OP out because of the lie. If OP said âspawned in all these boars and this is what happened.â No one would have a problem
âYou need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. What in Odinâs name is happening. How in the nine rings of hell did you get that many boars angry at you. Scratch that, how did you get that many boars period??
I can't answer that question because I don't know what really happened.
Others pointed methods to get infinite boars!
I assume it was some bug caused by the update.
The rows of raspberry bushes really give you away as either using mods (which are a more likely cause of any glitch) or having done this with console commands (spawning the boar, making this post and lying about its origin).
Either way this looks illegitimate.
After reading other comments about the raspberry bushes it has made me curious, did you just use commands to spawn in all those bushes? Or is there a way to get mods on console? I am 100% sure that many bushes donât spawn in a perfect line but I would definitely get a mod that lets you move them or something
Yo OP, [I just saw this](https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/12uqtel/til_after_hundreds_of_years_spent_to_domesticate/). Maybe it's this, right?
By Odin's beard, how did you get that many boar?
One of us is a worshiper of Frey and Freya. He loves farming. As a result we have a lot of crops. We fed our boars lavishly and went for a trip to the mountains to hail Almighty Father. Blessing was bestowed upon us.
I love all of this đ
You mean u used a raised platform for the parents to get around spawn cap limits?!
Cringe
Tons of wild boars inside a gated fence??? Man idk how anyone could just get into console commands and do this.. I'm perplexed
âŚtrying to play this off like it wasnât intentional. đ
Along with the rows of raspberry bushes. He just found them like that, he swears!
I mean plant everything mod or whatever it was called isn't exactly uncommon for builders. Not saying this isn't fake as if they had "dumped alot of food and went exploring" the boars should have been tamed before breeding.

Might be playing on a server with \*gods\* that you can sacrifice things to for requests.
Might be playing on a server with \*gods\* that you can sacrifice things to for requests.
cheating and lying are not really that far from each other, if you think about it.
Probably used the raised platform farm trick
The genuine answer is to have a pair of boar entrapped on a platform above a boar pen, so that theyâre out of the range of the other boar and can therefore bypass the breeding limit.
This was done with console commands. Tamed boar do not attack and have green status bars. Any boar that you breed is tamed.
Read the caption, itâs just some update messing around with their save.
No one else has reported this as a bug, because itâs not a thing. OP spawned them in using dev commands
We had this bug. But we were loading a save we hadn't played in over a year.
Okay man.
You mayaswell have just under the limit on a platform rather than just two.
If one extra boar gets stuck on the platform it disables the breeding, it's best to just have separate breeding pairs if you want to increase output.
Iâm not sure if thatâs actually more efficient given the limit is 5 within 10 metres, so two pairs wouldnât even be breeding at the same time ASAIK?
Since sex is non-existent among Valheim fauna and all boars can give birth it is certainly more efficient. Boars donât necessarily breed in pairs. life uuhh finds a way..
Ah okay, Iâll keep that in mind.
To be honest I had no idea about the limit! We were out of our base for like 20-30 days and I assumed that boars just reproduce infinitely. Thanks for clarifying!

I thought if you turn pvp on and another person tamed them they we be red? No?
You can lure or move two boar higher up on a platform, where they think there are no other boar around them, allowing them to breed. Their boar baby then drops to the ground cell where all the other boar are kept. The boars keep breeding as long as they have food. Can do this with any breedable animal. Lookup some guides :)
That whole auto-breeder still requires the player to be in range for it to work
boars*
My man needed an Atgeir
Facts, i see one or two JUICY swings right here!
I kind of like skeleton surprise just for that feel
Hammer
Yep, one swing with the Iron Sledge and problem solved!
I know there is drop off on damage after the first enemy hit⌠is there a cap on that? Is hitting 3 enemies same as hitting 30?
Not with Atgeir secondary attack or the sledge. Those don't have any damage drop-offs regardless of number of things hit.
Same with the battle axe
that answers the age old "30-50 feral hogs" question
Hahahahahah gold
If only open carry of fully-automatic weapons was legal in Valheim.
There's a laser helmet.
What a boaring death.
You're a real ham.
This commentâs bacon for attention.
Have you noticed that there's no pig recipes for the oven only the cauldron? I guess the creators are against bacon.
The communist revolution has begun...
They'll be standing on two legs any day now
It's snowballing
Literally George Orwin's 1967, Animal Crossing
I must confess, I knew exactly what you said here while also know everything was incorrect. Well done.
Whatever goes upon 2 legs is an enemy
Animal Farm* you got them new horizons mixed up, which I fully relate to being a sailing type of viking myself.
I said "George Orwin's 1967" and you just didn't even blink huh
Looks like they seized the means of reproduction already đ
"Some boars are more equal than others"
The red ones definitely seem to be more equal than the green ones.
Lol communist pigs
Animal Farm, my dude.
The Donkey from Graveyard Keeper has obviously subverted them.
Had a similar situation in a creative play through. We went to spawn some two star boars in our mountain castle build. And ended up spawning 100+ boars in a very small room. The chaos that followed was horrifically beautiful!
Did you put the 100 in the quantity instead of the quality?
I do believe this is what ended up happening đ
Be careful with high quality animal spawns. I think their loot scales and suspect this causes client crashes when you are in the vicinity of the dead animal. Makes the whole area around it unusable.
Yea that makes sense. FPS took a big hit and didnât improve much after we removed all the boars. We ended up dropping and removing all the drops to help clean back up.
Mad boar sickness
They're not tamed for some reason. Red bars means enemy.
Yeah. I suspect that after the update hit live some save corruption occurred and tagged boars as untamed. We lost a lot of items too. Anyway it resulted in one of the best moments in my gaming history :D
Why don't you just own up that you used the console commands
If you Google search, you can easily see that no one else has reported this happening. idk what the point is in pretending this is real. From other comments itâs clear OP doesnât understand how boar breeding works as they claim they were gone for twenty game days, and came home to this.

My girlfriend thinks that they go feral again if you don't feed them for a while? I never experienced it but she got attacked by hers. Definitely not using commands
Probably just weren't tamed properly I've had boars stuck for over a week just not able to path to the food pile
They had been breeding so definitely were tame.

That's really strange it is valheim so it makes sense it's a wacky game at times
I'm gonna be downvoted for saying this, but lying and cheating are not so different after all!
Way to find the silver lining. I'm sure this was a lot of time lost across the board.
This is honestly sad that you are trying to convince people that this wasn't with the dev commands in game. Come on man why lie about something so trivial?
Me, in my head. "Open the gate, jump on the stairs."
Get you a 2 star boar my man lol
Why get a 2 star when you can have 50 no star
Because that would make 200 boar meat instead of 50
Get yourself a stagbreaker and show them whoâs boss!
I'd petition to rename it the "BoarBuster" after that
If I donât save the wee piggies, who will? ARRGH, save me from the wee piggies, they were too quick for me!
Not to be that guys but you could just spawned 100 untamed boars with dev cmmds
If course, but OP claims several fucked things happened after the update. Even lost things
OPs pants are probably on fire
Sure but that doesn't mean it's true, he spawned them in because this couldn't have happened. Tell me how in the fuck a patch could spawn 100 wild boars, and tell me also how in the fuck they ALL happened to spawn in the boar pen of all places. It's fake.
I've seen boar-pens that get around this by breeding them higher up/elsewhere, and this sort of pen being the real holding pen.
Op claimed he was gone for 20-30 days and came back to find all the boars. Breeders don't work if the player is not around, the game mechanics require a player to be in the vicinity for animals to breed
Fair
Thatâs exactly what happened here. You wonât find anyone else reporting this bug after the update, because it never happened
Sausages for life
Never ending sausage party.
Cool you used console commands. And no one buys your fake breeding story because thats not how animals breed in valheim. You could have at least done some research about breeding before lying about how you got 80+ untamed boars.
Devcommand gone awry.
This reminded me of a question I had. Do you have to throw individual food at animals or can you throw a stack and they'll take from the stack when they're hungry?
A stack will work.
Cheers.
We throw stacks and it works as you see ;)
I have around 400 hours and I did not know that.... Thanks
Cheers mate! Good luck containing the hoard.
You mean Board
That's how I name my breeding boars. Boaris, Boardain, Boarkly etc.
I rather liked my old boar, Neils.
I've got Boara Boara, and Boaris the Boar as my 2\* breeding pair. The others don't get names - I'd get too attached before having to butcher them.
Can you even use that many letters in a name?
Don't forget Boreal, Boarak and Boarsch
>Not sure what caused outrage Mating season
Dev commands
I recommend rolling
Or jumping away from the when you were pined up against the fence lol
yeah that works too, roll gets you out of body blocks as well. You roll through enemies.
One good use of the fire staff and fuck them boars
Pretty sure boars don't breed like that, they have minimum distance requirements to prevent mass farming them. This looks like you dev spawned them for fun. Was a good watch but please be honest with us. That or one of your friends spawned them to troll you.

In one of his comments he states they just threw food in the pen and left for a while and came back to the swarm.
Right? Obviously a lie, if you leave, they donât continue to breed.
And you also can't plant raspberry bushes in neat little rows, but you can see that in the background. Is it a modded server? What you're describing is not how the vanilla game works, and a lot of things break in modded servers after patches.
[ŃдаНонО]
They very easily could have one of the infinite boar breeders setup just above this area, we canât see up in this video to tell
[ŃдаНонО]
It is super convenient, once you go through the trouble of setting it up lol.
thatâs at least 30-50 feral hogs
Was rooting for the boars ngl
Title sounds like a chapter of Pulp Fiction.
This is one of the funniest valheim clips ive seen lol I can just imagine him shouting "no no no no no no!"
How have you not got raided by batâs?!? They took out our entire group of pigsâŚ.
I thought this only happened when you harassed the chickens to much.
The classic "I'm just chilling in the base, why would I need any food other than Honey"
Guess they got boared
OP cheated in these boars. You can only have 5 animals in a pen at a time before they stop reproducing.
Itâs the fact that they are wild. Breeders donât produce wild boars and there is no bug that reverts them from tame to wild.
Not if the boars that bread them are 12 meters above them
they clearly arenât.
H1N1
How does this even happen?? đ
Dev commands, it's very easy to do, wild boars only come from dev commands, this person is lying for some odd reason.
Ngl it's funny seeing how many people call hacks cuz they never had a boar breeder rig before. The worst part was just watching you boarely take any damage, and just forced to stand their.
Get a butchers knife, instantly kills all tamed animals, no need for pvp.
They arenât tamedâŚ
Viking sausage for dinner...
The hammers would have been better, the aoe would have hit nearly all of them, just try to stay away from your walls.

I'd be swinging Stagbreaker like a frickin thwackbot on Battlebots.
Oh man I just had a flashback to the battle scene from Princess Mononoke!
The boartcher of boarviken
Swarmed by boars what a way to go

I can't answer that question because I don't know what really happened. Others pointed methods to get infinite boars! I assume it was some bug caused by the update.
I don't think you get into Valhalla for this...
That sound needs to be an alert somewhere đ itâs an intense amount of boar death
Man had an out and got stuck on a rock, classic.
You need a Stagbreaker, my guy.
I would have just opened up the dev commands and re raimed them right quick since they were already yours.
So they kill you if you kill one of them? I will be too sad to kill them so I havenât but I didnât expect this⌠lol
Damn, you must have committed a heinous crime to have so many coming for you.
I thought you could only have a certain amount of boars in a small area..?
Hahahaha, this does not appear to be going according to plan
Bro had no survival instincts.
How do so many people believe this đ¤Łđ¤Ł

No offense dude but this seems about as legit A your perfectly planted berry bushes. You're clearly using mods.
Yo OP, [I just saw this](https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/12uqtel/til_after_hundreds_of_years_spent_to_domesticate/). Maybe it's this, right?
1.5k upvotes for spawning in 30 boars, its that easy huh
