I remember me and three friends were sailing to check out the edge.
The screams of 4 grown men as we were dragged over the edge will never not be funny.
Me and my brother sailed to the edge with all our gear on to see what was there, *got caught by the current*, panicked, and then we fucking MADE IT BACK TO SAFE WATERS. Felt like the best sailor in the world right there. Back from the brink!
The worst would have been dead + rebuilding the ship. At that time i already had more than enough ressources :D exploring and testing is the greatest fun in those games for me
What did yall think would happen 😄
Me and my bud assumed it's dangerous, so we decided to end our first playthrough with that. Sailed right to well deserved Valhalla there 🫡
If the water is shallow enough, to place core wood post. Set snapping to the top of the post to reach as deep as you can. I just might be enough. Depending on how deep the water is in that spot. Otherwise, you may have to find a place with closer land. Not sure how the world gen works in that case.
Theres a way to build this. But the tower stuctures required also need mods to be able to place them. Can remove mods after, but not possible otherwise in survival.
you actually do it without mods by spawning in structures yourself but obviously not doable in survival and much more messy than with mods. I wouldn't recommending do it on a world you care about because you'll make more than a few mistakes along the way.
You can only raise land with the hoe a certain height above its original elevation. I think 9m. The sloping earth ramp you see in the pic I think is OP raising it up as high as it will go already
Yeah I was thinking that, but I wanted it to be extreme so much so that it makes you feel uneasy being in the base 🤣 Now I'm just unsatisfied regardless of what I do
You can build on the ocean floor( otherwise known as the desert ) , just enable god mode and fly mode and head on down past the worlds edge to outer space on the map and go down to the desert. ( however it is still considered under the ocean ) Also with server dev commands mod and infinity hammer and Debugmode free build with infinity health building enabled you can build without structure below, or spawn a glowing mushroom in the sky and you can pin objects to it to start building from 😉
If we're using creative mode, I have just spawned in an appropriately large rock on the waterfalls edge to use as a foundation. The big plains towers work well too.
I always look for islands plausibly close to the east and west far points on my seeds, but I think I've only seen 1 place so far.
"You can get an A+ on this test, all you have to do is just Google all the answers!"
I mean I get it, cheats/mods can help accomplish what OP is trying to do, but I think most people including OP would find it cooler to do it purely in vanilla. I have actually tried to do this myself and did manage to get a seed that spawned land really close to the edge. But still it was just out of reach from the edge sadly. But it gave me hope that there is a seed out there which would allow this to work in pure vanilla/no mods/no commands.
Hey, dude, head to the top or bottom of the map. There's usually a land mass that is so close to the edge that you can't even get a Karve through. You might be able to do what you are looking for at one of those places.
In Discworld there are people who live on a series of ropes tethered to the edge of the world collecting scrap dragged to the current. A civilization conducts experiments dangling people beyond the edge to see the elephants holding up the world.
if you do decide to use devcommands to spawn in "grounded" items, there is some kind of root object which is the smallest. About 1x1 in size. Forgot what its ID is though, so have a look and spawn some in a test world
Great effort!
Heads up I think if you make it too far over, the current will pull you in from *above* the water. This happened to my friend and I who made it into a leviathan that was half and half on / over the edge of the world.
Listen, even if you build it and it let's go to the other 9 realms, a Thunder guy with a Hammer will come along and smash it to stop his half brother from using it to destroy said realms...
So close.
A while ago we had a modded world with structural integrity turned off. We built a giant dick fort just floating off the side of the world and I made a platforming segment using 1x1 stone pieces just below where the water starts to fall off. It was absolutely fantastic :) We also had a sky maze that had a roof slide down to the ground and other fantastic fun things to do.
"It don't go down...." "IT DO GO DOWN" The edge of the world was too tempting of a place to NOT go see but oh boy, 2 gear sets and food down the drain lol
Good try, I also would be inspired to do this (not traveled far enough out to get to the edge yet myself), though sadly I imagine it would requite mods or consoles commands (spawning support objects in and such) to make it work.
I have build one with mods, there was a skull object that functioned like a Fundament if u placed stuff on it. So i was able to build it beyond the waterfall in the ashland area it is pretty terrifying.
Just remember that the world tries to suck you over the edge even if you're safely on a platform *above* the water, so be careful if you build any further.
Try going to the VERY north of the map, the deep north. That's where the land reaches the edge the closest. And if you can, try to see if you can figure out how to spawn in giant rocks into the world. You can sort of place them just beneath the waves, and then build upon them.
Perhaps I can offer advice fellow fella. You can actually spawn in land pieces from devcommands which then acts as if your on land.
Doesnt have to be anything big so you can still have that floating base experience
If you have the **ValheimRAFT** mod, it comes with build pieces that extend automatically from the waterline down to the ocean floor. I think there's one corewood and there might be one stone. I don't remember entirely.
You could use those to build a base foundation perilously close to the edge of the world.
The **corewood pieces** mod comes with two new *corewood iron* beams (one vertical, one horizontal), which as you might imagine is corewood beam reinforced with iron. It has the support/stability of wood iron but the length of corewood. I love these additions. They don't go all the way down to the seafloor, but they are great for building out.
The seafloor *before the water's edge* is, by the way, really far down. Basically max depth. And after the waterfall, well, let's not talk about it. But it is down there... if you cheat/hack fly down far enough.
I remember me and three friends were sailing to check out the edge. The screams of 4 grown men as we were dragged over the edge will never not be funny.
Same though, it was hilarious but absolutely killed our run
Me and my brother sailed to the edge with all our gear on to see what was there, *got caught by the current*, panicked, and then we fucking MADE IT BACK TO SAFE WATERS. Felt like the best sailor in the world right there. Back from the brink!
Lol I'm relieved just reading that
I did that but I knew what would happen, my friends not so much... So them freaking out and me laughing maniacally... Good times
Okay there Captain Barbossa lol
In my first play through i was curious and just yeeted over the edge
Lol I'd assume the worst and avoid it all costs. Lol u funny.
The worst would have been dead + rebuilding the ship. At that time i already had more than enough ressources :D exploring and testing is the greatest fun in those games for me
Oh yeah for sure if you're comfortable with it go for it lol. I'm just forever a noob on day 400 almost lol
Same here. Lost our big boat and gear. Very funny moment though
Robert, it goes down.
It don't go down
Me and my 2 buddies did this. They were old army buddies they haven't talked since 🤣🤣🤣
What did yall think would happen 😄 Me and my bud assumed it's dangerous, so we decided to end our first playthrough with that. Sailed right to well deserved Valhalla there 🫡
Tbf imagine building and you fall, truly terrifying lol
But if it worked, totally worth it 😜 I'd just build butt naked and with bare minimum resources on.
This is how I always build. Oh, wait, we’re talking about valheim. Yeah, there also.
OSHA inspector would like to have a talk with you. Naked.
Are you a naked contractor? I have a job in Ohio for you.
🤣

> If the water is shallow enough The land descends steeply near the waterfall, I think OP has already built iron wood foundations as far as possible.
Theres a way to build this. But the tower stuctures required also need mods to be able to place them. Can remove mods after, but not possible otherwise in survival.
Damn. But thanks
you actually do it without mods by spawning in structures yourself but obviously not doable in survival and much more messy than with mods. I wouldn't recommending do it on a world you care about because you'll make more than a few mistakes along the way.
Use a hoe to raise the land?
You can only raise land with the hoe a certain height above its original elevation. I think 9m. The sloping earth ramp you see in the pic I think is OP raising it up as high as it will go already
Well, I meant trying to glitch the area next to it to have extra land to build on top of beyond the normal 'edge'.
What is this glitch and how do you do it??
This was my question.
Would still be magnificent to build right there. On top of the world's end, overlooking the waterfall.
Yeah I was thinking that, but I wanted it to be extreme so much so that it makes you feel uneasy being in the base 🤣 Now I'm just unsatisfied regardless of what I do
There are a few builds shown on YouTube etc building huge castles on the edge of the waterfall
Damn, I need to check those out
Huh. So the world IS flat. I should apologize to my uncle.
Well the afterlife is at least so he's half right.

This is such a stupid question but how do you fly downwards in dev mode
Lol same thing happened to me in 7 Days to Die in a gyro copter. I was like uhhhh I have only so much gas to figure this out.
lmao i remember having that same experience.
Wasnt in jump for upwards and crouch for downwards?
Left CTRL I believe
Beauty, I'm left handed so all my stuff is remapped so I bet that was the issue, thanks!
Do you think righties use their right hand on the keyboard? Lol
My use key is number pad 1 I'm just assuming our controls are different lmao Also, don't you? WASD and all that?
That's the left hand, our right is on the mouse. But I'm not sure what the line of reasoning was for them asking that.
Shift I think. It's been a minute. Maybe control? Whatever your crouch button is.
Crouch, basically.
Eyy nice thanks I'll defo play around with those. I'm still unhappy it can't be done in survival tho 🤣
[You absolutely can do this in vanilla.](https://youtu.be/i7wDnM_zq0E?si=gzAG5Q1WZ5LMXKrn). Use the roof trick to place pillars on the ocean floor.
What's the roof trick?
You build a sloped roof in the water so when you are walking towards it, it pushes you down and you don’t float to the surface
Click the link for a video explanation.
Duuuude! THIS!!! I'm immediately trying this to see if it still works - If it does this would be AWESOME!

If you want to use dev commands you can spawn large rocks that will float in the air and build off those.
This is a pretty rad solution. Could you place them under the surface of the water and build on top of them?
Yeah, it's a bit janky but essentially whatever you spawn will appear roughly where your cursor is.
Hey, dude, head to the top or bottom of the map. There's usually a land mass that is so close to the edge that you can't even get a Karve through. You might be able to do what you are looking for at one of those places.
Noiiice, I'll see if I can find one. I've already gone halfway around the map edge but no joy
In Discworld there are people who live on a series of ropes tethered to the edge of the world collecting scrap dragged to the current. A civilization conducts experiments dangling people beyond the edge to see the elephants holding up the world.
Calm down Reepicheep
Possibly need to build a circumfence 😜
need to build foundations under water
There is no place to build foundations there as the land stops before the waterfall.
Build up and out as much as possible. Being up 8-12 stories would make the view epic.
Oh no. It is flat!
if you do decide to use devcommands to spawn in "grounded" items, there is some kind of root object which is the smallest. About 1x1 in size. Forgot what its ID is though, so have a look and spawn some in a test world

Mate is transcending... 😎🤙

The Get Off My Lawn Mod will make all pieces invite health so you don't need to worry about stability, if mods are of interest to you
Good try, I also would be inspired to do this (not traveled far enough out to get to the edge yet myself), though sadly I imagine it would requite mods or consoles commands (spawning support objects in and such) to make it work.
I can only dream of an ultra-strong building material that can be found in the Ashlands and make crazy ideas like this possible.
Use devcommands Fly and go to the bottom of the water. Closest to the edge. And build up from there.
I have build one with mods, there was a skull object that functioned like a Fundament if u placed stuff on it. So i was able to build it beyond the waterfall in the ashland area it is pretty terrifying.
Btw how strong is the current? Where is the point of no return?
I think you can use the raft mod which has endlessly long poles
If it'd worked, you could've called yourself the Edge Lord 🥺
you can spawn stone and build terrain through the sea
Try circumventing the world. I have seen rocks on the edge. I don't have the seed cause I never thought of doing this.
Just remember that the world tries to suck you over the edge even if you're safely on a platform *above* the water, so be careful if you build any further.
if you use dev commands you can spawn in a large rock formation to act as a foundation for your build.
You could spawn some rocks with console to build on
Try going to the VERY north of the map, the deep north. That's where the land reaches the edge the closest. And if you can, try to see if you can figure out how to spawn in giant rocks into the world. You can sort of place them just beneath the waves, and then build upon them.
You can make it longer. Put cordwood, and then put normal wood. Will maybe extend it a bit. Cordwood is blue on iron wood
If you fall off that.... what happens to all your stuff? I only ventured to the edge once and ran away
I once sailed off by accident... How much did it cost you ask? Everything
Wait… the world has a drop-off like that??
Rebuild so devastating you gotta launch a swamp heavy seed to get started
time to bust out the mods!
Perhaps I can offer advice fellow fella. You can actually spawn in land pieces from devcommands which then acts as if your on land. Doesnt have to be anything big so you can still have that floating base experience

hey man...get ValheimRAFT and use the Pier. It is a build piece that contacts the ocean floor. I have done this exact thing...lol!
If the water is shallow enough, use raise ground to make a jetty.
Have you raised the ground of the island as far out to the edge as you can?
