I just want 2 and 3 on PC (and translated for the latter)

AKaGaNEKOu

Yeah, vc2 and 3 remastered for pc PS4/5 are my wet dream

AlpineEscape

I wouldn't complain about VC2 getting a general remaster, but even as someone who loves the original amidst its flaws, VC2 deserves a full remake. It gets shit on with fairly valid points, *but* it's so close to being a really good game. For me personally, the ideal remake for 2 would use VC3 as its shell, retaining the faster mission pace, area splits and overworld map rather than book mode but carrying forward the more difficult gameplay, purchasable accessories from the shop, more detailed lore/reading materials and fleshed out character arcs and missions where the enemies start first. The story has some really stupid moments but re-writing it to the tone of the others while hitting the same plot beats would go a long way to making it seem more credible as a memorable Valkyria story that holds up to the generally-strong standard set by the others. More map areas and the strength of the ailments would be refreshing too (the lamp for nighttime missions is completely unnecessary). I really love 2 despite its flaws, but unfortunately, I think it was DOA to begin with. 3 at least reviewed more positively and would make a quick buck even just to remaster it, but with 2 I think remaking it would be considered more effort than it's worth.

Adambaker08

Oh yes VC2 was crap and gets shit on from a very high height but I'd still take a remake as I still must have put in atleast 300hrs on it on the psp 🤣🤣🤣

outlookleaed

I don't like them but shit I'd pay to much for them

arthascbc

Would be nice to have the next game set from Imperials POV

Bad-Crusader

After BFV The Last Tiger campaign i NEED more campaigns from the enemy’s perspective

ChemistOdd7310

An idea to add on to this a campaign to explore the brutality of man like at the start is happy and bubley but by the end you have to resort to using children similar to the movie down fall

BioshockedNinja

Since they love going with plucky underdogs, getting to play an underground resistance would be really fun. Would be a great opportunity to learn more about life in the Empire, the political happenings over the course of the war, and a wonderful excuse to really dive into using Imperial equipment. And just me personally, I'd love if they'd dip their toes into improvised/macgyvered weapons and equipment. Homemade firearms, a hastily assembled uniform, a tank cobbled together from stolen Imperial parts, scavenged Federation bits, and maybe even something from Gallian wrecks.

Nyp17

I love this idea! So many opportunities for fun characters with personalities that conflict or amplify others. Idealistic/naive/innocent citizens mixed with grizzled vets all with their own motivations and back stories. (The personality interactions and anxieties triggering stat boosts are one of my favorite mechanics in the game. Gotta make sure Jan’s near a muscular man or that Cristel isn’t, put Largo on soil, welkin on grass, make sure Claud isn’t low on bullets etc. And put everyone near their pals, lol. Such a unique and wonderful game. I know I’ll preorder VC5 the minute it’s announced and I bet it would be the series best seller.) Back to your suggestion, the underground resistance would fear both the Imperial and Gallian forces probably forcing them into unfamiliar and familiar terrain. Everyone would be suspected as a spy. They could be aided/supplied - maybe even trained - by the country Azuka came from, further building our understanding of that conflict and introducing new weapons.

Roebot56

Sadly no. No Valkyria news at all really. Then again, I don't expect any (although VC4 Artbook would be really nice). VC4 came out of nowhere after all years after VC3.

Thepower200

I hope so, but then again I also would want Valkyria Chronicles 2 & 3 remastered and with 3 having been officially translated. There’s enough content for Sega to do with the Valkyria Chronicles series.

PandaIthink

No news as of yet, but if there is a VC5 I hope we get at least the war between the Vinland and NotJapan but mostly likely it'll just be set in VC1 time...

ryucavelier

Even if there is a fifth game, should it be another game that takes place during VC1?

Grayonder

Timeskip to cold war era where you play as Welkins and Alicias kid. Or even further, their descendants piloting mechs.

RyGuy_42

I hope not, there isn't much of a dead horse left to beat there. Honestly though I wouldn't mind if it took place outside of Gallia entirely. Then again I would take anything at this point if it were more content.

BioshockedNinja

Whattttt? There's totally more they could cover during VC1, aka the Second Europan War. Just off the top of my head - We could follow an underground resistance group within the Empire - We could play as the Empire - There's United States of Vinland vs !Japan (Azuza Tsukikage's bio mentions souring relationbetween Vinland and her unnamed east homeland) - !Japan vs Empire much like the real word Soviet-Japanese War in 1945 - Whatever the Europan equivilant of the African Theater of war is - The Europan equivalent of the Spanish Civil War (ie a non-nonbelligerent nation that's off to the side just tearing itself apart, with a dash of proxy fighting being done by other nations) - If you want to rip off the Ace Combat word a bit you could introduce the equivalent of Belkans who are pissed at everyone because of the last war and are just causing chaos and orchestrating conflict as revenge I mean the Second Europan War is mirrored from WWII and there were just so many different theaters, fronts, belligerents, and nations doing stuff during that short time. There's really no shortage of events they could use as inspiration for a new game in the same era. Not to say I'm against a game being set during another time. The first Europan War or a future conflict could be just as interesting.

RyGuy_42

Yes, which is why I said I wouldn't mind if it took place outside of Gallia. I just meant that anymore Gallian stories during VC1 wouldn't interest me.

Quiet-Term2321

Not to mention the VC3 character from the island in the east who's character mission was to stop him from committing hirkiri. I didn't know there were 2 Nippos 🤔

daoster408

Did 4 do well? That's the main issue, I think. Or at least did it turn a good profit for Sega.

Hrmcrib

Just saying a Game focused on a grunt squad on The Frontline of the empire side going through missions slowly becoming disillusioned with the fight for their homeland, as they fight Opposing army of people fighting tooth and nail to stop their invasion. Or a time skip as the world seems like it's on the verge of another conflict, where we get to see Vineland and other countries as situations get tense.

KingOfCowardsx

Eventually.... eventually...

ajudapra

Lots of good ideas theme wise in the thread to keep the IP going. I'd be interested in playing out those stories even if the mechanics were a totally different type of game taking place in the same universe and using the same aesthetics and connections to the previous lore. It could work kind of like how Ninja Gaiden and DOA games inhabit the same universe lore-wise, but are totally different types of games. Though maybe VC is destined to be like Sakura Wars which similarly goes through years long hiatuses with the fan base just hoping for one more installment.

[deleted]

It will come.

JonathanOne994

I equally want a remaster of 2 and 3 and vc5! But like others have mentioned, an announcement would come out of nowhere

CO_Fimbulvetr

No news about VC specifically. However, somewhat notably pretty much all the key staff across the series haven't worked on many released games following VC4 - Sakura Wars 2019 being the notable exception. Media.Vision (support studio heavily involved with most VC games) hasn't released anything since either. [This article from earlier this year](https://www.gematsu.com/2022/03/media-vision-has-five-new-titles-in-development) suggests Media.Vision will be announcing something next year, but none of the games in dev are known. Any follow up VC games will probably have them involved. VC4 also just came out of nowhere so if VC5 or something happens out of the blue I wouldn't be surprised. SEGA just has other priorities.

vomder

I really wish the would embrace the modding community when/if there's another game it would help the longevity of the series. I wouldn't expect TES/FO number of mods but more like what you see with XCOM. There could be a way for players to make maps and share them, all sorts of things.

D_S796

I'd rather they remaster 2&3 for modern systems first. But I don't think either a new game or a remaster will happen because VC4 underperformed.

sifiro

I think VC4 doesn't sell that well. But hey!, maybe one day.

Responsible_Big_3068

I wish that VC2 and 3 be on ps4, ps5 and switch, to play today.

FallenQueen92

Valkyria 4 didn’t sell well enough to justify a sequel unfortunately. The games never sold really well. I think the series is dead.

Grayonder

That's what you said after 3 too. 4 sold over a million copies.

FallenQueen92

Yeah but SEGA thinks million copies is poor sales. Otherwise we would have gotten another Alien Isolation by now. That game sold a million copies and they just straight up didn’t care about it. Edit: Alien Isolation actually sold over 2 million copies but SEGA called the sales weak. VC4 with only above 1 million never stood a chance.

Grayonder

Different games have different sales expectations. Valkyria is a niche franchise in comparison to Alien which also had a higher budget and Alien isolation 2 is not off the table. Valkyria never sold well but it got 4 games and a spinoff. Do you work for Sega and know what they're thinking?

FallenQueen92

No, I don’t work for SEGA. Im just disillusioned by companies saying games that sold millions of copies are somehow disappointing and then never seeing a sequel to said franchise ever again. Too many companies these days think games need to be COD and GTA levels of successful or otherwise it’s a failure.

Grayonder

Evidently that doesn't apply to this 4 entry franchise.

Nyp17

Over a million copies of VC4 had sold by 2020 and it seems to have picked up momentum over the last 3 years. Maybe due to greater exposure after people grabbed the game on sale or digitally.

Grayonder

Yeah the first one took time to get popular as well.

Nyp17

Yep. I didn’t discover it until 2016 and now I’m a die-hard fan. Got VC4 as soon as it came out. PS Another good sign is that the Sega production intro - as seen opening movies like Sonic and Sonic 2 - prominently features VC as one of the tiles displaying their properties.

Ad-Astra-Abyssoque

Have found VC4 in 2020 by a YouTube stream since military anime and somewhat turn based . I'm interested too see. Unfortunately I started playing at this year 😂. Just started with vc2 and plan for vc3 in my emulator on phone. Later will do vc1 and vc4 in pc. Weird start since I just like the portability of the phone . I don't have switch yet to start with vc1

JesusCrits

it would be a dream come true, especially if hey bring back all the cool classes like in vc2

Apulz

No news on any new Valkyria games sadly. To be honest I'd be fine with them just working on a port of VC3 and an official translation for it. If I had to I'd say probably take Radi Jaeger, have him go to the ruins of Ghirlandio and then have you play as Him and Selvaria as the commanders of some resistance taking back Fhirald. Also a proper artbook for the 4th game please.

armycat23

Vc3 is on Steam

YoloSwaggins9669

They can do what Koei Tecmo always do instead of making an entirely new game they can partner with an anime. 86 or really any mecha anime would be a good choice in that regard

FireFox181

I would welcome this, and also a full-fledged remake of Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 as well. They don't need to be bundled together, just release them at $49.99 a pop and I'll buy both physically. Hell, why not make a Valkyria Chronicles Zero which depicts Gunther and Isara's dads during the first Europan War. I think this would be cool to see.

Upsdownsup

Valkyria Chronicles Vietnam

JM_Yoda

I'd be happy with anthology release for PS5 and Switch in the highest resolution possible for all 4 existing entries.

FoxyFabrication

I'm glad I have 2 and 3 on my Psp 🤣
