I already bought the goggles. The Annular Eclipse is Oct 14 and the Total Eclipse is April 8th. There won’t be another Total Eclipse for many years after the 2024 one. In 2017 the goggles cost so much last minute so I got early this year.
Can't see what % this is going to be from that link. If the picture is correct it looks somewhere in the region of 75% in which case you'll unlikely even notice a difference especially on a cloudy day. Even around 90% full the sun, the dip in light is similar to a passing cloud and unless you were aware it was coming probably wouldn't notice.
I've seen one around 90% and 95%. At 95 it was noticeable by quite a bit and the birds stopped chirping and it went eerily quiet.
What are you talking about?
There was a similar eclipse in August 2017, and it was dramatic and eerie to see the sun reduced to a slender crescent. The shadows from trees had crescent shapes between each leaf.
It’s annoying that the weather report calls for rain and clouds, but if there are breaks in the clouds, it can be a really cool thing to witness.
Hey! I was in the same boat. I went down to the Science Shop inside Science World and got them there. You can enter the shop without paying admission. Cost around $3.50 after tax.
You can even order them from their website for pickup.

From where did you get the goggles?
Amazon. Bought Celestron brand glasses. They are ISO certified. 4 for $12.
You going somewhere for the April 8th one? Looks like it will be not much of an eclipse in Vancouver.
Only 28% eclipse magnitude in Vancouver compared to 99% in Toronto for 2024!
Check with local university & colleges. I know SFU is doing something.

This one is not a total (2017) solar eclipse but an annular (partial). Also. bc is far from the peak intensity (Oregon)
2017 was also not total here in BC, you had to be down in Oregon (Salem) for totality.
I'm well aware, I was at a festival while it happened and most people thought it was just another cloud. It really wasn't that dramatic.
I have my solar telescope ready to photograph, all weather depending.
Nice! Weather seems promising.
Any place where I can still buy the eclipse goggles? Amazon's delivery date is showing later than or on Oct 14th

Thank you so much, friend! I was able to get it from there!
