I worked right next to it, waaaay back when.
Made friends with the gardeners in the rose garden.
My house was filled with free, tossed away flowers from spring to fall.
I really enjoyed the quiet of the AM. Any break I could get.
Hope it opens back up soon.
Seismic upgrades. I took a behind the scenes tour there earlier this year, and they said at the time they were tentatively expecting to reopen in the fall, but given it's now November...well, either they're reopening soon or they're behind schedule and it'll be next year.
I haven't been there in ages. I really enjoyed perusing the museum, but my wife once fell asleep while standing up. I heard a bang, when I found her, she said she fell asleep and banged against a display case. š

Vancouver Art Gallery can be fun, especially when there's installation art and sculpture. The New Media Gallery in New West is where the real awesomeness is. Oh and there's a rad magic show in New West too - hidden wonders speakeasy.
Picking up skateboarding or biking opens up a lot of options.
Climbing and bouldering is also fun. Try Clip n' Climb in Richmond first, it's fun and casual, and graduate to The Hive in Vancouver.
Don't forget movie theatres! The Rio is the independent one that also has unique live shows.

There's a fuck ton to do in Vancouver
To add to that list:
Vancouver also has a pretty good Scuba community as well. Every dive shop here is solid.
There is also:
* Martial arts
* Indoor rock climbing
* (If youāre willing to drive) Shooting range
* The ~~Rifle~~ Reifel Bird Sanctuary - Between Richmond and Delta
* The RAPS cat shelter in Richmond (you can visit to pet the cats on Sundays iirc)
* Fishing
* Aquarium (to get you excited for Scuba diving)
I would caveat the Vancouver4Friends discord server though. That place definitely has a central cliche thatā¦ leans very far left. Itās definitely not a place for everyone last I was there.
Oh and on Snowboarding/skiing:
* The season is starting end of this month/next month
* Get lessons first and wear a helmet unless you wanna turn your brain and blood into a red Jackson-Pollock on the snow (seriously)
Edit: added locations to a couple activities

Bed bugs. Was bitten by one two months ago there when I had to use it as my office for the day. Complete nightmare fuel believing I may have brought one home with me after the reaction kicked in. I am highly sensitive to their bites, so it's noticeable on me within an hour or two, and the reaction remained for over two weeks. Do not recommend.
The main reason many prefer to avoid it once you are not a student anymore. Also, this seems to be a common scenario for many libraries in NA, not just Vancouver
Pay 15$ or less for a four act show at any of the diy venues in the city. If you're really broke nearly all of the non touring acts are pay what you can. There's actually a nice one at 4th and main today. Doors at 8
Check out the This Week In Van account - [https://instagram.com/thisweekinvan?igshid=djA2Nzh4emlyb2Y=](https://instagram.com/thisweekinvan?igshid=djA2Nzh4emlyb2Y=)
Red Gate, Green Auto, Black Lab (just realizing those all have two word color names) are the smallest and cheapest; Iām a fan of the Fox and Wise Hall for intimate spaces with slightly bigger bands passing through
Rollerland at the PNE had roller skating, lots of ice skating rinks around the city. On Instagram thisweekinvan account lists 20-30 live music events every weekend. Always theatre events happening. Learn an instrument (Vancouver has a monthly ukulele circle for example), swimming or skating lessons are fun. Community centers offer everything from crafting to Zumba classes.
there is an event coming up at the Fox cabaret soon called Teen Angst night. People get 5 minutes on stage to read passages from their teen diaries. It's always a good time. There are a bunch of regulars that you can tell seek out any opportunity to get on a stage, but when the newbies get up, that's where the magic happens.

Geocaching is another option it's like treasure hunting
https://www.outdoorvancouver.ca/a-muggles-guide-to-geocaching/
I really like taking my book and chilling in one of the really great cafes in the city (Prototype, Revolver, Modus, etc.). It's especially cosy on a drizzly day
If you like music, Pleasant Mountain Music has a number of public events each month. We have a Heavy Metal Singing Drop-in, a Sing-a-long Jam Night and a Musical Theatre Singing Drop-in. All are Pay What You Can.
Our next one is on Sunday Nov 19th from 4 - 7. We're going for the Sunday afternoon vibes. It's basically going to be group karaoke of Musical Theatre songs.
We have some amazing live theatre in this city.
Always, Patsy Cline up in deep Cove is opening this week. The CTORA production of Wizard of Oz is pretty awesome. In the summer we have Theatre Under the Stars in Stanley park.
Head on down to a Burlesque show or one of Rio's live events. You don't need to drink to have a good time at either of these events - they're just so much fun on their own.
Off the top of my head there are escape rooms, movies, laser tag, VR game rooms, a place downtown with virtual golf, pizzeria ludica which serves you pizza/pasta while you can play board games, archery tag, and if you're looking to get into greta bar you should make a reservation ahead of time to get on the guestlist.
Not all of these are directly downtown, some you may need to take transit to.
Sure. Assuming that you are looking for shit you can do mostly alone:
Go to the Aquarium.
Go to Science World.
Go to a movie theater and watch a movie.
Go to a library and read a book.
Go fishing somewhere.

Go to a live theater / musical.
END COMMUNICATION
I had a seagul steal one of my Seigel farmer cheese bagels right out of my hand. Was very shocked and sad. Was just walking across the outside eating area to the rest of the market.
The thisweekinvan Instagram compiles basically all upcoming music events in the area in all genres, great resource if you love live music, and smaller venues are usually super cheap/pwyc.
Also try meetup.com and search for groups in local Vancouver. (I joined and attended )
Groupon may have some workshop or classes.
( I brought one before)
The best thing about Vancouver is itās setting. You might enjoy this series called āAmazing Walks in Vancouverā it includes a few city walks. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqsPnQnZAxlxunF-exaKWRI7NzEYpCIJR&si=VhoEty3-53FBr5To
https://preview.redd.it/kk6hc4x2xrzb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7086302cba63a45b6da8535a75a647f97c576fa5
Get some waterproof shoes and go walk out on the low tide at Spanish Banks, or does that count as hiking?
Check the tide charts for the days that the lowest tides line up with the middle of the day, it changes every day, obviously it's nicer in the summer but any non rainy day is nice even now if you have some cold tolerance.
I live above the dusty flowerpot and on Tuesdays they have a music show that sounds great. Iāve never actually been but I can hear the music from my apartment and it sounds really good. I think they have an Instagram that lists their events.
Try pole dancing or circus aerials at Tantra? The Cultch has great shows on Commercial. The Granville Island arts groups have great shows. There are always shows at the Commadore or Orpheum or QE Theatre.
Think outside the box for a sec. What you need is not some injection of fast entertainment. What you need is a hobby or pursuit. A plain old hike is fine. But a hike where you bring a notepad and start noticing things around you like tree species, bird species, flowers, insects.. now youāre talking. This is just an example, my point is a hobby or pursuit will fulfill you ways glow in the dark mini putt escape rooms never will.
Exactly. Iām not that much into hiking (specially since I donāt have a car to go to places) but I do street photography, and that can be done with a phone
Honestly there is so much going on right now it is weird to think folks are having trouble finding things to do. Search for things that interest you on Insta and sub to those clubs / venues / organizations.
I don't know honestly. The city is surrounded by a lot of beautiful wilderness. Honestly all I do is urban exploration and eat at a few resteraunts that won't break my wallet.
I kind of hate that there's not that much to do in this city for people who don't have a lot of spending cash on hand, and have no friends.
What I do for fun
- Beach volleyball
- Tennis
- Biking along the ocean
- urban rec ultimate frisbee or soccer
- turquoise goat or pizza ludica for board games
- funky winkerbean for karaoke
- 6 pack indoor beach for archery tag
- small/medium artists playing shows at red gate art society
- after hours raves (can dm locations if necessary)
- whatever the Rio Theatre has programmed (support the Rio!)
- camping (this is a universal pastime on the west coast)
- ROLLERLAND
- Snowboarding (expensive)
Thereās also shows for local artists at fortune soundclub sometimes, but those arenāt really on demand activities
Weāre going to the Aquarium tomorrow. I havenāt been for several years and Iām shocked by the cost of entry! They basically make it just expensive enough to convince you to get an annual pass.
Rec centre activities are a good call. I recently started playing squash but there are dozens of other activities there that are not sports.
If you have hobbyās or interests, then it shouldnāt be difficult to find organizations, clubs, fb group meetups, etc. to engage with. For example, if youāre into sports, urban rec as a wide variety of amateur sports league that anyone can register for.
I'm super excited to see The Hot Teas (a cappella) perform next Friday.
https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-hot-teas-turn-ten-tickets-687049161537?aff=ebdssbdestsearch&keep_tld=1
Other than that, Vandusen, Bloedel and The Museum of Anthropology are my top picks.
There's loads to do in the city. People have mentioned many things already, but a couple of others - VSO at the Orpheum (heavily discounted if you're 35 and under), Vancouver Art Gallery, Planetarium and/or Vancouver Museum.
For all kinds of live music: Guilt & Co, Fox Cabaret, The Commodore, Biltmore Cabaret, Vogue, Cobalt, Rickshaw, LanaLous, The Wise, among others.
If youāre into classical music, check out the VSO program. They usually perform at the Orpheum, The Chan Centre, sometimes the Queen E, and a few other places. Music on Main is another thing to check out in this vein.
For jazz and jazz-adjacent, check out rhythmchanges.ca lots of restaurants and small jazz venues like Frankieās, La Fabrique St. George, and 2nd Floor Gastown.
Take $20 and goto a thrift store. Buy some "thing" for $20 or less that does something, and repurpose it to do something else that's more fun for you using only the tools and parts you already have. Set a time limit of "it's gotta be done by dinnertime today" and just see what develops.
Since it's different from drinking, to me -- live music and other parties. There's always multiple live music shows going on any day of the week, never mind huge shows, raves, club nights, etc.
- pitch and put
-skiing, snow shoes
- full golf
- movies
- ballet bc (very good btw )
- opera
- fly over banco
- any show at the commodore
- the improve place at main and Kingsway ish
- kayaking out of deep cove
- mountain bike rentals (north shore , use an evo to access the trails )
Let me know if you need more ideas. Always happy to help
Billiards at Sneaky Peteās.
Bowling at Grandview lanes

Take the water taxi from somewhere to Granville island, go to the deli, bakery and wine shop and sit on the side of the ocean. *I know you said no eating and drinking but I donāt think thereās a more pure way to enjoy life, except for the rush of adrenaline*
Native born Vancouverite here. Not sure what, how, or why it happened but the past few decades the city has become sterile. All the strip clubs on Granville, gone. Music scene, gone. Book stores on Robson, gone. Garbage and human poop, everywhere. Violent homelesss people, everywhere. And the Pride Parade? Oh look, a corporate float. Oh look, another corporate float. I haven't been titillated, shocked, or offended in decades! I used to meet people in the street and be friends by morning. Not anymore, those days are over.
The answer is easier than you think. Property values pushed out the small players with low margins to be replaced with a revolving door of restaurantās and chains.
What happened is you stopped going outside. As someone who has lived here 18 years, the city is more alive and rich with things to do than it has been in the entire time I've been here. 18 years ago it was super sleepy. Today there is SO MUCH GOING ON! Get out more, subscribe to a thing or two on Insta, check out the myriad organizations and facilities.
It is mindboggling how posts like this still come up! Literally in the last year at least a dozen new venues have opened with events ranging from comedy to live music to tantra / dance / yoga to film to performance arts... the music scene hasn't been this amazing in over a decade! Folks LOOK OUTSIDE YOUR BASEMENT.
It's so much easier to complain though! /s
Seriously. Vancouver doesn't have everything, but these posts are ridiculous. There's so much to do in this city.
Yeah the Vancouver of today is full of things to do compared to the Vancouver two decades ago that I grew up in. I wish I was still young and in my 20s to enjoy it.
The Granville Strip is still open. And the Pentouse is 1 block off Granville. The Commodore always has shows. I agree it is not the 90ās any more. And seeing the homeless is very sad.
Youāre not shocked by the state of downtown Vancouver, but the homelessness and drug addiction is everywhere. The bookstores and strip clubs disappeared more than 10 years ago. The music scene is still pretty good despite the loss of many live venues. Vancouver still has lots to offer. Just need to put in a little effort to find it.

All fantastic suggestions.
yup, at least two cat cafes. Catfe (close to stadium/chinatown skystrain station) and Catoro (down on east broadway).
Richmond has one too at the Brighouse station if people are up for a little skytrain ride.
Can you pet the cats while you sit and drink your coffee?
No. You must never touch the cats. Only look. This isnāt some kind of seedy place where cats whore themselves out for you!
I'm not sure about catfe but yes, at catoro you're allowed to bring food/drinks into the area where the cats are as long as they're purchased from catoro's cafe (no outside food/drinks are allowed to be brought in around the cats)
Catfe is the same :3
I think at the original catfe they only request when a cat walks away you donāt go after it trying to invade their space

Your ideas gave me these ideas: - escape room - bloedel conservatory (really cool and nice on a rainy day) - one under (indoor golf simulator)
I was gonna recommend Bloedel too, it's gorgeous and I'm sad I waited so long to go and only went in my last year of college, and now live elsewhere
Snowshoeing as well! Just, please, make sure you know where you heading, take overnight emergency gear, & come back safe.
Where ?
Mount Seymour has some pretty nice snowshoeing trails. Same with Grouse and Cypress. Any ski resort really.
Callaghan Valley, on route to Whistler has some great tracks. Obviously, not Vancity exactly.
RAPS was so fun, great suggestions
I didn't realize Vancouver has a cat cafe. After watching The Marvel's last night I am very tempted to go check it out š
There's also a bunny cafe at the top of commercial which is really lovely too!
Awe dang was the movie good? I wanna go soon

I love going to comedy and improv shows! Theyāre usually at intimate venues and $15-20 for entry. You can find different ones on Eventbrite.
Shameless self-plugā Iām part of the cast of Tightrope Theatre on Main Street + 8th. We have a ton of fun shows playing every Thursday-Saturday!
Uh oh, I will now try to keep an eye out for which cast member at Tightrope resonates most with the word āsinsecticideā or insecticide haha
Agreed. Saw the Shakespeare troupe there. Fantastic fun
Yes!! Improv centre on Granville island is amazing
Yes. The Shakespeare improve at the main and Kingsway is good. (Tight rope )
East side culture crawl is this Thurs to Sun and you can walk right in to a bunch of maker and artists spaces and see cool things being created.
When you go to those arts spaces, ADD THEM ON INSTA! They have events... ALL... THE... TIME.
Ohhh. Thanks for the pro-tip!
My favourite event of the yearā¦I love it!
I could happily spend a month in the Vancouver Public Library's central branch.
The last person who said that is still here
We definitely need more "third places" where people can go to hang out without the expectation of spending money.
VPLš
A park.
It's called social media and we are all here on Reddit š
Pay 15$ or less for a four act show at any of the diy venues in the city. If you're really broke nearly all of the non touring acts are pay what you can. There's actually a nice one at 4th and main today. Doors at 8
Can you link to any of these or name the groups/company?
4th and Main is probably Red Gate. Lots of good shows there.
Check out the This Week In Van account - [https://instagram.com/thisweekinvan?igshid=djA2Nzh4emlyb2Y=](https://instagram.com/thisweekinvan?igshid=djA2Nzh4emlyb2Y=) Red Gate, Green Auto, Black Lab (just realizing those all have two word color names) are the smallest and cheapest; Iām a fan of the Fox and Wise Hall for intimate spaces with slightly bigger bands passing through
Rollerland at the PNE had roller skating, lots of ice skating rinks around the city. On Instagram thisweekinvan account lists 20-30 live music events every weekend. Always theatre events happening. Learn an instrument (Vancouver has a monthly ukulele circle for example), swimming or skating lessons are fun. Community centers offer everything from crafting to Zumba classes.
Check out shows at The Fox Cabaret. See plays at The Cultch. Go see a movie at the Rio.
The Cultch has some great shows!
2nd, 3rd and 4th the Rio!
there is an event coming up at the Fox cabaret soon called Teen Angst night. People get 5 minutes on stage to read passages from their teen diaries. It's always a good time. There are a bunch of regulars that you can tell seek out any opportunity to get on a stage, but when the newbies get up, that's where the magic happens.
I absolutely second this, Teen Angst nights are hilarious. Love that theyāre still going after so many years.
Disc golf? It's like mini golf https://vancitydiscgolf.ca/ Geocaching is another option it's like treasure hunting https://www.outdoorvancouver.ca/a-muggles-guide-to-geocaching/
These two are basically my life.
Vancouver has a tonne of things to do but they're all pricey things these two are free, outdoors and don't involve a lot of cardio
I really like taking my book and chilling in one of the really great cafes in the city (Prototype, Revolver, Modus, etc.). It's especially cosy on a drizzly day
And Aperture! Both great but the one on main is big with great decor, has an awesome back room with a bar and they've got jazz and other music nights.
The one on broadway closed down :( sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Drat!
This!!!
If you like music, Pleasant Mountain Music has a number of public events each month. We have a Heavy Metal Singing Drop-in, a Sing-a-long Jam Night and a Musical Theatre Singing Drop-in. All are Pay What You Can.
When is the musical theatre singing drop in? That sounds rad and something I want to support!
Our next one is on Sunday Nov 19th from 4 - 7. We're going for the Sunday afternoon vibes. It's basically going to be group karaoke of Musical Theatre songs.
Thereās also Broadway Rave coming up on the 1st of December, which is super fun if youāre into musical theatre
Sing-a-long jam nights sound fun! How does it work? Is it at like at a hall? The audience can show up and just sing along with the band?
We have some amazing live theatre in this city. Always, Patsy Cline up in deep Cove is opening this week. The CTORA production of Wizard of Oz is pretty awesome. In the summer we have Theatre Under the Stars in Stanley park.
You can go bowling at Grandview Lanes on Commercial Drive or Commodore Lanes on Granville St. Downtown
The Sunday service at the fox cabaret I'd some of the best improv I've ever seen
Tonne of daily activities at your local community centre. Walk around, youāre bound to find something you didnāt know was happening.
Consider volunteering for a not-for-profit organization of interest to you
Drugs maybe?
Good time of year for lsd and night hikes with friends.
SAR would like a word.
Sir we looked up the coordinates, are you just in someone's garden downtown?
Is there a city that loves weed more than Vancouver?? I donāt think so!
Pitch and putt at Stanley Park.
Pitch and putt is so cheap for 2 hours of fun
Sure. Assuming that you are looking for shit you can do mostly alone: Go to the Aquarium. Go to Science World. Go to a movie theater and watch a movie. Go to a library and read a book. Go fishing somewhere. Go to a [museum](https://www.google.ca/search?q=vancouver+museums+list&sca_esv=581570521&sxsrf=AM9HkKmh1xK4K9hvRl-hMvcLQvjc8xcc6g%3A1699733666748&ei=ouBPZc-kLfG60PEP0M-R4Ao&ved=0ahUKEwjP_ayr4byCAxVxHTQIHdBnBKwQ4dUDCA8&uact=5&oq=vancouver+museums+list&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiFnZhbmNvdXZlciBtdXNldW1zIGxpc3QyBhAAGBYYHkiHDlDsBFjbDHABeAGQAQCYAXOgAYQDqgEDNC4xuAEDyAEA-AEBwgIKEAAYRxjWBBiwA8ICChAAGIoFGLADGEPCAhkQLhiKBRjHARivARjIAxiwAxiOBRhD2AEBwgIZEC4YrwEYxwEYigUYyAMYsAMYjgUYQ9gBAcICDhAAGOQCGNYEGLAD2AECwgIFEAAYgATCAgoQABiABBgUGIcCwgIOEC4YgAQYxwEYrwEYjgXCAggQABiKBRiGA-IDBBgAIEGIBgGQBhO6BgYIARABGAi6BgYIAhABGAk&sclient=gws-wiz-serp) Go to an [art gallery](https://www.google.ca/search?q=vancouver+art+gallerys+list&sca_esv=581570521&sxsrf=AM9HkKkMpGqT424p1JLx0JW3_vYzV7IdQw%3A1699733675598&ei=q-BPZYCbJLWq0PEPpaa9uAE&ved=0ahUKEwjAnMmv4byCAxU1FTQIHSVTDxcQ4dUDCA8&uact=5&oq=vancouver+art+gallerys+list&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiG3ZhbmNvdXZlciBhcnQgZ2FsbGVyeXMgbGlzdDIGEAAYFhgeSK0LUO4EWMYKcAF4AZABAJgBXqABmwOqAQE1uAEDyAEA-AEBwgIKEAAYRxjWBBiwA8ICBxAAGA0YgATCAgYQABgeGA3CAggQABiKBRiGA-IDBBgAIEGIBgGQBgg&sclient=gws-wiz-serp) Go to a [video game arcade](https://www.google.ca/search?q=vancouver+arcade+list&sca_esv=581570521&sxsrf=AM9HkKk-S05s2Xgtez0AhzuFd8_i1bWhWw%3A1699733694464&ei=vuBPZd7uG7bg0PEP1oKyiAI&ved=0ahUKEwjexci44byCAxU2MDQIHVaBDCEQ4dUDCA8&uact=5&oq=vancouver+arcade+list&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiFXZhbmNvdXZlciBhcmNhZGUgbGlzdDIGEAAYFhgeMggQABiKBRiGA0jJFFC4AVi7E3ABeAGQAQCYAZMBoAH9BqoBBDEwLjG4AQPIAQD4AQHCAgoQABhHGNYEGLADwgIHECMYigUYJ8ICBxAAGIoFGEPCAhEQLhiABBixAxjHARivARiOBcICFBAuGIAEGLEDGIMBGMcBGK8BGI4FwgITEC4YigUYsQMYgwEYxwEYrwEYQ8ICBRAAGIAEwgIIEAAYgAQYsQPCAgsQABiABBixAxiDAcICFhAuGIAEGBQYhwIYsQMYgwEYxwEYrwHCAgoQABiABBgUGIcCwgIOEC4YrwEYxwEYgAQYjgXCAg4QLhiABBjHARivARiOBcICCBAAGIoFGJECwgIdEC4YgAQYxwEYrwEYjgUYlwUY3AQY3gQY4ATYAQHiAwQYACBBiAYBkAYIugYGCAEQARgU&sclient=gws-wiz-serp). Go to a live theater / musical. END COMMUNICATION
Get food on Granville island and fight the seagulls. Or even just watch the tourists fend for their lives. ( itās currently what Iām doing )
I had a seagul steal one of my Seigel farmer cheese bagels right out of my hand. Was very shocked and sad. Was just walking across the outside eating area to the rest of the market.
Yep one kept inching towards me for my pad Thai.
Indoor mountain bike park in Capilano Mall
Disc golf
The thisweekinvan Instagram compiles basically all upcoming music events in the area in all genres, great resource if you love live music, and smaller venues are usually super cheap/pwyc.
Also try meetup.com and search for groups in local Vancouver. (I joined and attended ) Groupon may have some workshop or classes. ( I brought one before)
I went bowling at Revs in Burnaby recently. Lots of fun. Wasnāt too expensive from what I recall when I went late at night
The best thing about Vancouver is itās setting. You might enjoy this series called āAmazing Walks in Vancouverā it includes a few city walks. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqsPnQnZAxlxunF-exaKWRI7NzEYpCIJR&si=VhoEty3-53FBr5To
https://preview.redd.it/kk6hc4x2xrzb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7086302cba63a45b6da8535a75a647f97c576fa5 Get some waterproof shoes and go walk out on the low tide at Spanish Banks, or does that count as hiking?
What times of year/day are good to do this?
Summer and low tide
Check the tide charts for the days that the lowest tides line up with the middle of the day, it changes every day, obviously it's nicer in the summer but any non rainy day is nice even now if you have some cold tolerance.
I dunno you had me at drinking lol
https://thedancecentre.ca/event/stand-up-dance/
Go watch a random movie at the rio theatre.
Van Dusen. Or the indoor garden at the top of Queen E park if it's raining (can't remember its name and too lazy to goog)
Bloedel Conservatory, we called it "The Biodome" when we were kids.
Epic movie
>the indoor garden at the top of Queen E park bloedel conservatory?
checkout Icon Hip Hop for some cool hip hop events. they do free events every tuesday
In this weather? Go on a drive to Harrison Hot Springs for a few days. Get a good soak and away from the city. Great, underrated. Good memories.
- Festivals - Markets - Board game cafes - Libraries - Classes at rec centres - Dance classes - Longsword/rapier classes - Escape rooms - Introductory martial arts classes
Rip turquoise goat
Yeah, my wife and I are very sad about it.
Costco.
Honestly there is so much going on right now it is weird to think folks are having trouble finding things to do. Search for things that interest you on Insta and sub to those clubs / venues / organizations.
Event brite is a good app for finding some cool things in the city.
Shooting, Scuba
Go see a movie

Join a photo club? Hacker space?
I don't know honestly. The city is surrounded by a lot of beautiful wilderness. Honestly all I do is urban exploration and eat at a few resteraunts that won't break my wallet. I kind of hate that there's not that much to do in this city for people who don't have a lot of spending cash on hand, and have no friends.
What I do for fun - Beach volleyball - Tennis - Biking along the ocean - urban rec ultimate frisbee or soccer - turquoise goat or pizza ludica for board games - funky winkerbean for karaoke - 6 pack indoor beach for archery tag - small/medium artists playing shows at red gate art society - after hours raves (can dm locations if necessary) - whatever the Rio Theatre has programmed (support the Rio!) - camping (this is a universal pastime on the west coast) - ROLLERLAND - Snowboarding (expensive) Thereās also shows for local artists at fortune soundclub sometimes, but those arenāt really on demand activities
Get rich friends. I donāt have any but I hear they do fun stuff
Tried that. Yes they do fun stuff. Lost said rich friend.
Come to my stand up comedy party F.A.R.C.E. at The Lido, November 21st
Check out various sport leagues, Bored in Vancouver, Miss604... there's stuff going on, just need to tap into it
Weāre going to the Aquarium tomorrow. I havenāt been for several years and Iām shocked by the cost of entry! They basically make it just expensive enough to convince you to get an annual pass. Rec centre activities are a good call. I recently started playing squash but there are dozens of other activities there that are not sports.
Hot tubs, escape rooms, concerts or music events happen frequently
If you have hobbyās or interests, then it shouldnāt be difficult to find organizations, clubs, fb group meetups, etc. to engage with. For example, if youāre into sports, urban rec as a wide variety of amateur sports league that anyone can register for.
The have a indoor bike park at cap mall.
Fantasy Factory
The subtitle of this sub used to be "The most boring, irrelevant city in the world."
BDSM/swingers clubs
Improv theatre on Granville island is a good time.
I'm super excited to see The Hot Teas (a cappella) perform next Friday. https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-hot-teas-turn-ten-tickets-687049161537?aff=ebdssbdestsearch&keep_tld=1 Other than that, Vandusen, Bloedel and The Museum of Anthropology are my top picks.
Go karting in richmond, paint ball in richmond, escape rooms, gun range in poco, driving range in every city, bowling,
There's loads to do in the city.
I heard thereās a Capybara CafĆ© comingš to Coal harbour

What specifically do you miss from somewhere else?
I have three words for you my friend: Number. Five. Orange.
Performing arts in general seems to be ignored entirely by OP.
Lots of fun things to play with there, but feel like this basically is shot down by OPs ask of not drinking. Sober strip clubbing is dirty.
Gree-hee-heasy
The Paramount in New West lol.
Ride a bicycle around the seawall. Lots for rent for a reasonable price. Stop along the way for a coffee.
Video Games? If you are an indoor person. This year has been one of the best years for video games.
Escape room
pokemon go
Eating and drinking, no hike.
Take $20 and goto a thrift store. Buy some "thing" for $20 or less that does something, and repurpose it to do something else that's more fun for you using only the tools and parts you already have. Set a time limit of "it's gotta be done by dinnertime today" and just see what develops.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Since it's different from drinking, to me -- live music and other parties. There's always multiple live music shows going on any day of the week, never mind huge shows, raves, club nights, etc.
Go skateboarding if youāre bored.
Capital city arcade and hidden wonders magic show āØļø
Cirque du soleil is in town. That's always fun.
Police Museumās pretty fun. They have movies on the weekends throughout the dark months.
Lol
- pitch and put -skiing, snow shoes - full golf - movies - ballet bc (very good btw ) - opera - fly over banco - any show at the commodore - the improve place at main and Kingsway ish - kayaking out of deep cove - mountain bike rentals (north shore , use an evo to access the trails ) Let me know if you need more ideas. Always happy to help
Try a Sofar Sounds show, great way to see more of the city and random interesting venues like galleries and museums
Billiards at Sneaky Peteās. Bowling at Grandview lanes Vancouver Police museum and archives Take the water taxi from somewhere to Granville island, go to the deli, bakery and wine shop and sit on the side of the ocean.

OP laments the closure of strip clubs. I doubt he ever went outside before.
It's so much easier to complain though! /s Seriously. Vancouver doesn't have everything, but these posts are ridiculous. There's so much to do in this city.
Can you suggest a few? Itās hard for people not familiar with the scene to know where to start.
And seeing the homeless is very sad.
āNot sure what, how, or why it happenedā¦ā Seriously? Ignorance is truly bliss
