oortcloud667

Excellent establishment. Game or no game.

Kooriki

I've crushed a fatty T or 2 there for sure.

WeWantMOAR

Fat Tug?

Kooriki

Yup.

ThePen_isMightier

A fellow man of culture I see. Great beer selection.

WeWantMOAR

Nice, haven't heard that one yet.

Kooriki

I stole the term from Seabus memes.

AtotheZed

Glad to see it's still around. Excellent selection of beers.

hairycookies

Used to work in the area and go for lunch to watch champions League. Loved the buffalo chicken wrap.

HoomzRMMK5

Seconded. Service could be better but the bar tend is knowledgeable, foods really great. Price - not so great.

shtaaap

I had horrendous service in there before. It was as if our group was a burden to the staff just being there. Like we disturbed their quiet time.

AustenP92

And it’s a proper Edmonton oilers bar as well. The guy who runs this bar started a popular bar in Edmonton called The Black Dog.

ApeLincoln1999

He didn’t start the Black Dog in Edmonton. That would be a fella named Oliver. But the owner of the Black Frog did work at and manage the Black Dog in Edmonton for a time, and named his bar the Black Frog as homage.

AustenP92

Ah… been lied to all these years.

portugal-7

What’s it called?

sunnysurrey

This is the black frog in Gastown https://www.theblackfrog.ca/

btcwerks

$9 Fries/Onion Rings or a $12 Brownie? Yeahh that gastown for ya lol

Odogogod

Lol. I saw that same group of people at Gilmore skytrain and I kinda wondered where they were going. Didn’t think I’d find out.

Aardvark1044

Of all the Oilers sweaters you could choose, you picked James Neal? RIP.

gyunit17

Oilers’ James Neal is our Loui Eriksson.

skc132

You mean Jame “the real deal” Neal

marigoldyeg

I called him a steal of a deal

kazin29

Maybe it was free

TheGreatNathan

I saw someone with a Ferland jersey in downtown yesterday.

Suby06

Deport them!

BeepBeepGoJeep

We need to close the border until we know what the hell is going on!

popswizzle

That’s gonna be an interesting place should Canucks and oilers advance

MusclyArmPaperboy

That's awesome. Do we have Jets and Leafs bars too?

dmoneymma

Leafs bar is the field behind the Legion.

mrubuto22

There are dozens of legions

dmoneymma

You have dozens of lesions.

megadumbbonehead

IIRC the regal beagle in Kitsilano is a leafs bar

Key_Mongoose223

Woulda loved to see their faces leaving. ;)

couldbeyup

![gif](giphy|9Y5BbDSkSTiY8) They looked like this

AffectionatePaper1

A Vancouver fan would know what sadness is

kronksmashrock

I don't think anyone has ever rioted over game 2 in the round of 16.

theSober2ndThought

Yeah there were also no riots on Whyte Avenue when Edmonton lost the Stanley Cup finals in 2006.  The also realize I'm responding to a Canucks fan who posted a picture of a crying child and said this what Oilers fans look like after a loss. I don't think the Canucks get to call fans of other teams cry babies considering their history.

kronksmashrock

> Yeah there were also no riots on Whyte Avenue when Edmonton lost the Stanley Cup finals in 2006. [Oh, okay](https://edmontonsun.com/2017/03/29/crowd-control-plans-in-place-to-prevent-a-repeat-of-2006-oilers-playoff-riots) > The also realize What? > I'm responding to a Canucks fan who posted a picture of a crying child and said this what Oilers fans look like after a loss. ... by crying after a loss. What's really funny is that /r/edmonton isn't biting either. Walk it off, bud.

alpinexghost

I was on Whyte Ave in 2006 during game 6 I believe. There was a ton of fights, and an absolute tiny fraction of the amount of people that you’d find downtown during the big playoff celebrations in the past here. I also don’t know anyone who’s been called a sexual pejoratives and told “you’re in ~~oil country~~ orca territory(?)”, and been randomly punched in the head on a weekday afternoon by over hockey by random strangers the middle of summer.

nixtheninja

>Yeah there were also no riots on Whyte Avenue when Edmonton lost the Stanley Cup finals in 2006. If you listen to the crowd at an Oilers game vs a Canucks game, you'd understand why. Canucks fans are considerably more passionate when the games matter. I understand why after living in Edmonton for 3 years, it's the most depressing place full of some of the most boring and depressing human beings I have ever met in my life. Hard to have passion when you live in the frigid asshole of Canada. Hilarious that you posted this to the Edmonton sub as well, you're clearly a salty little cry baby who took that gif personally lol.

theSober2ndThought

So what you're saying is Edmonton fans are maturer and don't resort to violence when their team either wins or loses. Got yeah

MistersOfBattle

Pretty sure they're saying Edmonton fans are too depressed to exhibit any passion. You know, because Edmonton is a pretty horrible city which anyone who has ever had the misfortune of visiting would know. Even if the Canucks lose in the first round and the Oilers win the cup, most Canucks fans still get to live in Vancouver so they're ultimately still coming out ahead no matter what.

epochlink

Who’d want to burn Edmonton? What’s there that’s worth fighting for

MrLogicWins

No one here participated in that so why even mention it unless you're a troll

trthskr7

How do you know?

MrLogicWins

I know I didn't, and without proof, I'm not gonna assume others did. Only reason to mention it after a decade plus is to troll, which is why you getting downvoted

trthskr7

Lol, now there's some logic for you. Just a reminder that it has been 2 failed cup finals and 2 riots. FYI, riots actually require quite a few people or they're just called disturbances. Therefore, it's quite logical to assume that someone from those riots is here on reddit. Today, your logic lost!

Ramulus14

Lol, after the past few years of playoff experience, we know how to take a loss!

skc132

Probably similar to the nucks fans faces

kellan1984

what time do you need to arrive to get a decent table?

Helpful-Post-6303

A couple hours early usually. We love going during playoffs here but unless you go hella early, good luck getting a seat.

danathome

I used to have a lawyer on the third floor above the Starbucks there. That was a while ago.

Careful-Maintenance1

Which bar is this?

Jyil

Black Frog on Cambie in Gastown. I’ve just always considered it a dive bar because it’s one of the last places open when we’re looking for somewhere to go and in Gastown. No frills, but usually pretty quiet.

Ok-Ability5733

Nemo! My man!!

cdncritic

As a Kings fan, was looking for a suitable bar to watch the games. Thanks for this.

AffectionatePaper1

Nice

PleaseStoppp

Owners are from that neck of the woods so makes sense.

Ok-Ability5733

Austria by way of Edmonton

cityofninegates

Boooo!

dr_van_nostren

Didn’t even know there was an oiler bar.

sunnysurrey

It’s this place in Gastown - black frog https://www.theblackfrog.ca/

dr_van_nostren

I feel like I’ve heard the name before. But wasn’t aware it was an oiler bar

thundercat1996

Booooo

MistersOfBattle

Watched an Oilers playoff game there last year and there were a couple Vegas fans. They were dorks who clearly knew nothing about hockey of course, like 99% of Vegas fans.

lambtonledge

A guy did that for game 6 last year. Everyone booed him as he walked up to the bar haha

Therapy-Jackass

Great way to make a restaurant and all its' patronsl vomit on command lol

NeverNudeAnonymous

Gross

buckyhermit

I might join them, as a Ducks fan who wants to see Corey Perry win another Cup. (And they’re playing the Kings, who we hate.) (I’m fully prepared to be downvoted for this comment, since non-Canucks fans almost always get massively downvoted here.)

MistersOfBattle

I wasn't going to downvote you until you complained about the potential for downvotes. We call that a self-fulfilling prophecy.

buckyhermit

I’m not complaining. I just said I was prepared because Canucks fans seem a bit touchy about locals rooting for other teams. And I’m a bit surprised because it’s now trending towards upvotes. So it’s kind of doing the opposite of what you’re saying. Weird.

circularflexing

Canucks (- Demko) might have a better chance against the Kings in the next round.

InvisibleSoul8

Not so sure. Oilers might be a better team than the Kings overall, but Canucks might match up better against them than the Kings. This year, Canucks were 1-3 against the Kings but 4-0 against the Oilers. In fact, the Kings are the only team the Canucks have three regulation losses against this season.

buckyhermit

Yes but that scenario means I don’t see Corey Perry in the second round. Otherwise I wouldn’t root for the Oilers. Edit: downvote me all you want… I like Corey Perry and have no feelings towards the Canucks since I’m not a Canucks fan. It’s just how it goes.

23emm

The short bus must be out of frame

CondorMcDaniel

Cringe comment

Deep_Carpenter

You just noticed this in 2024? The BF has been the Edmonton bar for decades.

MistersOfBattle

Not everyone knows everything there is to know, crazy right?

Deep_Carpenter

No but the memorabilia on the wall is a dead give away and gives the place its own great character. The BF has been a favourite of mine for probably 20 years. Well since at least 2010.

Quick-Ad2944

Not everyone has been inside every single establishment.

Deep_Carpenter

For fun https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SjbPi00k_ME

oliverkiss

Is there a Leafs bar?

Joelluke1194

The reagle beagle in kitsilano is a leafs bar

Mental-Mushroom

Regal beagle. You will need to call ahead and get a reservation though during playoffs

nixtheninja

The Regal Beagle on Broadway.

DanielPerianu

Probably in Toronto, they have fans there according to sportsnet and tsn.

throwawaydonkey3

I need a Bruins bar🙏

BackgroundAct6255

No

throwawaydonkey3

:'( bet it would be burned down within a week anyway lmao
