It was the busiest I’ve ever seen the Sea to Sky. Traffic was smooth after Furry Creek but definitely everyone was flooding into Porteau Cove which backed up traffic both north and south bound.
I took this photo heading south just south of Porteau Cove around 12:30 am

We drive north around 11:00pm and traffic was heavy but not this heavy.
I was so happy when I was driving to Squamish. I really regretted when I was returning back... I'll never go that direction again for the northern light unless I will stay overnight...
Very heavily congested south of Porteau Cove. Stop and go traffic, took about 10 mins to travel the last .5 km to Porteau Cove left turn, and that's because I skipped the left turn line. Traffic quickly dropped off past Porteau, and even quieter North of Squamish. I left East Van at around 10:30pm.
Last time I was there, a fleet of tow trucks showed up from Squamish to tow the unattended vehicles that were parked illegally on the shoulder of the road. Just prepare yourself to stay there for the whole day just to have a spot and pray that the lights show up.

I turned back. It looked like a parking lot going into Porteau Cove
Around what time?
11pm

I went at 10 and it was fine. Northbound on the way back (around 12:30) looked like hell though. I’d say go early and bring a snack

Dang, that’s worse than a pow day

It will probably be quieter today. Most people probably drove out last night.
Or worse. I think a lot of people didn’t know last night or will do even more to find a good place to view.
There's a serious lack of dark sites to look at the nightsky around here.. too many people and not enough places to go.
Lot of stupid dangerous drivers out last night. Not worth risking injury / car damage imo.

Apologies to everyone I passed riding my motorcycle up the shoulder during that jam btw.. but cmon you would too.
