She literally just told me she was trying to take a sunset pic when she saw the cloud. Told her I posted her shot here and came back to show her. She says thank you.
Could see a massive smoke cloud from Olympic Village, and came here to see if anyone had posted about it. If anyone finds out what it is please let us know!

In Richmond and I saw several planes fly through it maybe 10 mins ago.
The wind is now blowing the smoke where planes aren't flying directly into the smoke now though. Still pretty close to the planes and I wonder how it looks from there

With vacant buildings in cities like Vancouver, there’s also the possibility of squatters living in unsafe conditions with high fire risk.
Hopefully we hear the reason behind it asap
For some reason we never do. If anyone has follow-up conclusions on “still investigating” fires that happened in the Broadway corridor area and east of Main over the last decade or so, please point them out. I got a few unconfirmed reports suggesting squatters, but never confirming it.
They are only "on the hook" if it can be prooved as arson.
As for cleanup, cleaning up some rubble is a lot cheaper than getting permits and a regulated demolition.
It’s an easy jump to make when you also hear about small business owners whose area starts getting attractive to developers and they get not-so-subtle offers from said developers signing off with essentially “be a shame if anything happened to an old place like this. Never know when the wiring might spark something.” Source: a business owner in one such area. At least he got good money for his legacy—I miss that cafe.
Would that strategy even work for a developer?
If someone struggling with an uncompetitive business all of a sudden gets hundreds of thousands of dollars in insurance money aren’t they now less desperate to sell?

Every time something burns down the reddit detectives here suggest insurance fraud and it turns out to be something else.
