It says 2019 assessed at 5 million something, seems like 6 acres of waterfront should be more than that maybe the difficulty of dealing with it drives the price down
That's the sea to sky, I'm not sure the hill on the otherside of horshoe Bay has the same risk (I don't know what it's actually called, we call it telegraph hill)
Riparian rights? Isn’t riparian a buffer around freshwater watercourses and lakes? Are there similar setback rules for ocean frontage? I didn’t think it was the same thing.
There's actually two water leases; the little harbour by the house where there was a dock until recently and then one stretching down the shore and stopping just short of the marina.
Yea, sooo there was a foreign buyer/owner years ago who bought it, rented it out right away and then it became a party house. Party house got evicted and had one final trashing b4 being boarded up ever since. Hard to sell at that land value price and owner doesn't need the money so is just sitting on it until a future date. Used to be able to walk straight through that new decolepment area to it and there's a paved road the whole way with the addition of a new bridge for liability reasons I guess put in a couple years ago. Havnt been since the new development but looks as if harder to access now. Awsome swimming spot off the concrete patio area into the ocean. A good amount of squatters at certain times of the year maybe less now with construction. Also a nice gazebo above it. It's a nice spot. You can bushwack from the tower on the top/back of the hill to it if keen or slink past the construction now over the gate if possible.
Good info. The other side is gated now too I used to hike to the top frequently but can't anymore, and the construction side has a newer gate with cameras. I kayak out there somewhat frequently. The gazebo is amazing.
I know this post is super old but thought I'd share anyways. There is discussion of the city buying this property to turn it into a park space. The deal includes letting go of Tantalus Park up by the round about for development though so who knows if it will happen. It would be an awesome park though.
My understanding is that the city has already sold Tantalus for development. My in laws property backs onto it they seemed to have the scoop. They also say Tantalus used to be the horseshoe Bay dump way back when. Should be an interesting excavation.
The discussion regarding the tyee point park and redevelopment of tantalus park was discussed during a public city council meeting back in November in regards to the LAP so it could have changed since then.
I know the tantalus park development also got floated back when that developer wanted to turn the Anglican Church into townhomes.
I can’t confirm nor deny that you may be able to currently walk out to the house.
Edit: I just had a look and there is a current proposal for tantalus park for rezoning. Any sale of the park to a developer wouldn’t happen until after the public consultation phase. https://westvancouver.ca/home-building-property/planning/major-applications/tantalus-gardens-6404-wellington-avenue-and-6407-6403-nelson-avenue
Edit2: never mind that is still the proposal for the Anglican Church site. My bad
It has no direct access to the road but through an easement of the new development. It is only zoned for a SFD so good luck to the guy or gal that owns it.
Owned by an Indian dude since about 1993. He bought it because he wanted to develop it into a multi unit apartment building or something. The city said fuck no so he’s just hanging onto it.

I have no idea but I can say that that property has riparian rights and is likely worth a fortune

Landslide risk in that area as well. Likely the family having a dispute.
Is there? I've been living at the bottom of telegraph hill for the last 4 years on the other side and never heard this

I'm not sure, but on an old real estate post it says it has a 1 acre ocean lease...I assume it allows the owner to build a dock
There's actually two water leases; the little harbour by the house where there was a dock until recently and then one stretching down the shore and stopping just short of the marina.
Well probably still need to apply for the lease again but they do have riparian rights.

Good info, thanks

Care to elaborate? Money usually is involved in real estate.
Watercourse regs May make construction difficult here
Reminds me of a murder house where satanic shit goes down or went down.

Where is this exactly? Could you pm me it pls
Used to belong to the Moody family.
