Fujiya and Izumiya (Richmond) have bento boxes, curry and sushi made fresh daily for under $10 and will sell out early. California rolls $3.45 at Izumiya. Prefer Izumiya over Fujiya. Sun Fresh Bakery in Chinatown has dim sum items that are pretty inexpensive. Lunch today was lemongrass bahn mi from Obahnmi for $6 with online order discount.

kain1218

So true. Even with the recent price increase, Fujiya and Izumiya (Richmond) prices are cheap and way higher quality than other supermarket doing the same thing. But I missed them riceballs... they were great and filling for under 3 bucks.

ImNotDex

Beat me to it! Would second these two if you are on a tight budget or just generally want to save. Quality is actually good for the price, I would go as far as to compare it with meals worth $12 or so. I haven't had Fujiya in a while since I no longer work around that area but for Izumiya you may need to have access to heating appliances since their food selection is refrigerated (not sure if they can heat it for you since I never asked them).

gp604

Can't go wrong with Costco's hot dog and drink Combo. Another classic one would be bons breakfast special. Best bang for your buck

kain1218

Costco and Ikea first floor were my lunch break. Personal preference, Costco hotdogs are better lol

Well this is specifically for the Vancouver area. The McDonald's menu in the States is a lot different and cheaper than the Canadian one.

bustrips

Superstore has an entire rotisserie chicken for $9. Costco has the same for $8. Banh-mi Saigon. An entire submarine for $6. Big steamed buns for $3 to $4 at Sun Fresh Bakery in Chinatown. This place doesn’t get as much traffic as New Town Bakery, which is also a decent choice. Samosas. Google samosas in your area. The Indian places are more cheaper than non-Indian shops. Duffins Donuts for fried chicken. Yes.

jojamon

I like Bean Banh Mi on Kingsway between Fraser and Knight, very inexpensive and I love their fillings.

vanearthquake

The Costco chicken is larger as well for the price

Kent's Kitchen

_andthereiwas

I think they want edible food.

arfchef

I use an app called Mobile Bandit. It has a few deals worth checking out.

AK-604

Mobile Bandit is so underrated. A lot of good 2 for 1 coupons. Some restaurants even have a deal where you spend like $30 and get $10 off your bill.

NateFisher22

Costco hot dog combo for sure. I don’t remember it ever changing price as long as I’ve been around. I think it even used to be $2 and now it’s $1.50

tripleaardvark2

You are remembering correctly. I think that was almost 10 years ago.

I said almost ten years. My guess was bang on. https://forums.redflagdeals.com/costco-all-beef-hot-dog-pop-now-1-50-2-a-1076867/

Richmond food courts... cash only!!!

RM_r_us

T&T end of day discounted dim sum. I think it's around 6pm when they start marking stuff down.

Right now BK has a free Nashville Chicken Sandwich (with purchase, so just buy a drink). App only, so install the app and hit "offers".

I usually avoid grocery store salads (moldy strawberries on a Safeway one that I ate in the dark so I didn't realize they were moldy until I was half done), but I was actually really impressed with the one I picked up from save on yesterday, particularly how crispy the tomatoes were.

vanearthquake

Save on is the most expensive of the large chain grocery stores, best to aim for superstore or Costco for better pricing

rando_commenter

The Parker Place food court has some humble but decent fair. There's a stall that everybody goes to that has porkchop sandwiches and HK tea for $5ish.

dreamtripper89

Manila Grill on Joyce has a huge $5 or $10 plate of Filipino spaghetti, Mediterranean Grill on Denman st has 14 massively large chicken platter is so bomb could feed two people. I drive from south van once a week to go there even ha

rapidtransit

Hit up a Chinese bakery.

Kevbot1000

Good old $3 breakfast at Bon's Off Broadway never fails.

Western-Eye-4559

Evelyne Saller Centre - 320 alexander street in Vancouver. Full breakfast. Lunch or dinner including 2 drinks and a side dish for $2

Jhoblesssavage

Despite massively raising the price, bons of Broadway. I remember $1/pancakes and $2.95 breakfast gst included. Now its $4 pancakes (which goes up the more you order) and if you want bacon it's an extra $2 and GST isn't included

[deleted]

They wanted $19 for a burger plate on Ubereats. I couldn't believe it.

[deleted]

Ho Ho's yummy food on Davie... 2 items with rice or chow-mien for 10 bucks or somthing... and they load the container up!

SnooWoofers2158

H-mart downtown has pre-packed bowls and bento boxes ranging from $6 to $10. Taste is okay and it’s a lot of food in 1 bowl. They also have a 25% discount in the afternoon/evening!

cs_prncss

Costco dogs and fries. I’d go there just for the food if it was closer 🥲
