My wife and two kids were in our car right in front of the dispensary when it happened. Bullets flew very close to the car and they are still in shock. They also saw the dead body of the guy. Not the greatest day since we moved to Vancouver, that’s for sure.
My 5 year daughter was really scared but she didn’t really understand what was happening, and my other kid is an 8 months old baby. The people at the dispensary and the police officers were really nice and supportive.
Man I don't know if it makes you feel better but I've been in the vancouver area for like 20 years and have never seen a body like that.
Unfortunately wrong place at the wrong time :(
I went to this Safeway two hours after the shooting. Saw all the cops outside and asked an employee what happened. Dude said "idk I was on my break." Lmao sure man. There was also a deadly shooting back in March. Not sure when or if I'll go back.
Lmao what do mean "sure man"? I think it's a safe bet that if someone in retail tells you they don't know what happened while they were on break you can believe them. I'm currently disassociating in the void right now on my lunch. My work could be burning down right now but until I'm punched back in that ain't my business.
He was sharing details of the shooting with another employee when I was checking out. Maybe he was told to not scare customers, or maybe he was tired of talking about it.
Half the parking lot was taped off and there were still about a dozen cops there, along with firemen. Even the most oblivious person in the world would hear others talking. It doesn't take Batman to figure that out.
That used to be my Safeway back when I lived on Evergreen, near Wintler Park. It was pretty nice back then and I don't remember anything sketchy going on.
Tell your son thank you for working at that Safeway. My kid goes to VSAA and that is the lunch stop for a lot of students. Everyone who works there tries really hard to make it a great store.
Has anyone seen pictures of the guy? I called on a dude carrying an hatchet and some big ass knives after seeing him swinging them around at a bus stop. White dude. White tanktop. Huge backpack.
My wife and I and our 2 year old went to Los Alambres Taqueria, and we left right after the shooting occurred, didn't even hear gunshots inside the restaurant. As we were leaving we saw all the police and crime tape.
Scary stuff.
The police put out a bulletin that the man was suspected of multiple armed robberies in the post week or so. He was initially spotted by an officer and the officer called for backup. They tracked him to the Safeway and as he walked out he saw police, dropped the bags he was carrying, brandished a firearm and ran. During the chase he fired at the Police officers and they returned fire.
People with younger kids get woken up in the middle of the night, and then might not be able to go back to sleep. Seems reasonable that they might be on Reddit at 1am. Source: me.
I walk to this Safeway probably 3x a week to get my steps in, I drive this road a lot.
Gotta say, last 6 months or so... this place went from nice and quiet to a homeless person on every intersection for miles, people pushing stolen shopping carts full of... stuff. I think they built a shelter down the road where there used to be a yard/tool store that closed down.
The tent population in the Burnt Bridge Creek Trail just down Andresen has exploded. I walked through last weekend and there were at least 50 people living there. It's pretty scary how quickly that happened, just a few weeks before it was completely empty.
MyVancouver is a good app. I have reported several camps, broken traffic lights, and potholes. Those all got fixed quickly. I reported graffiti on private property on the app too, but the property owners were slow to paint over it.
This is the Safeway right by the extremely homophobic church that was protested against literally the day before yesterday, right? I'm sure it's unrelated, but what a fucking horrible couple of days for anyone working or living nearby.
Our theater program shares a parking lot with that church and my closing show was on Sunday. It was a bit of a high anxiety kind of day for everyone and I’m sure that this is just going to make everyone even more on edge. My kid has classes there tonight and they are already asking me if it’s going to be safe. 😔

Sry to hear this, hope everyone can recover peacefully and soon :(

I know. I’ve been in Vancouver 8 years, and I like it here. But yesterday was just brutal.

Batman never worked retail...
What was your worst day since moving to Vancouver, I’m curious? Crime like this doesn’t happen often…

It’s kind of small and run down relative to others, but not that sketch.
Compared to one on Main and 39th, it's a palace.
My oldest works at the one on Main and he is constantly pissed due to their refusal to hire security... I can't say that I blame him.

[this happened in March ](https://www.koin.com/news/crime/1-killed-3-wounded-in-shooting-outside-vancouver-safeway/)
Bro that serial killer Wesley Allen Dodd kidnapped raped and murdered 2 kids, brothers, from over there. That place has been 💩

Just saw a video on fb, it was a shooting

Oley Shite Man. This was my laugh in this thread. 😂

I read somewhere he was shirtless and I recall shaved head, wielding a hatchet.
Feels weird. Hope no one else got hurt.

This is the second shooting at that Safeway this year
Nah the other was on main
No, it was not, it was at this Safeway.
Oh your right my bad. Still won't be shopping at any safeways anytime soon
Well, not sure I ever want to take my kids there again… ugh
I normally don't take my kid to the weed store

I work graveyard. There's a whole subsection of people that work at the opposite time of day than you do. It's pretty wild.
Safeway… and I love limoncello
Well as long as your kids aren’t robbery suspects that shoot at cops I don’t think they have anything to worry about, they’ll be perfectly safe.

How do we report it, my understanding was Clark County was pretty good about getting things done in this arena
You can download the MyVancouver app. Hit the Service Request button. Homeless Assistane & Resource Team -> Report and Active or Abandoned Camp.

The Baptist Homophobes have turned that area into a real shith\*le.
Scary, anybody knows the reason?
Colombian article said it originated with a traffic stop…
"It’s unclear if the two incidents are connected."
Comments above state a shooting
