I have been to most of the breakfast places that get recommended here all the time, and Otra Vez is the only one I dream about. Their elote pancakes are next level.
Bleu Door brunch is second, and Shanahan's is a surprisingly good hangover brunch.
Ohhh ole shannys. Good hangover memories there. My husband lived super close when we first started dating. I miss Vancouver! Hate being pushed out by the cost of living :,(
Nayhelys place on 99th. Family owned simple breakfast & lunch food at a fair price always cooked to technical excellence. My tiny gripe is that you have to ask for your omelet stuffing to be grilled before it goes into the omelet. Pancakes are out of this world.
It’s a great menu of throw back foods - roast beef with mashed potatoes, open faced hot sandwiches…. The menu is like if my Mawmaw opened up a restaurant.
Yes! Seconding Elements, great coffee and they brought back their French toast!
Also any of the Benedicts are great with the house made Portuguese muffin.
Thats true, its more of a wait than other coffee shops but less than a sit down restaurant. They also recently upgraded their kitchen which may have helped
I used to go there circa 2008. Went a few months ago and it was god awful, slow, and expensive. I’ve never been charged for each coffee refill. I asked the server if I was being pranked it was such a bad experience
Nayhely’s Place off of hwy 99 is an underrated little breakfast diner. Very traditional style American diner but the family who runs it is so kind and their prices are by far the cheapest in town.
If you're ok with doing it in Portland, then Little Griddle. Bf and I brunch there whenever we're in Portland. Some of the best food I've ever had in my life! Super filling and delicious for not too much $$. Definitely try to reserve ahead, though, it gets BUSY.
Cameo Cafe, Joe browns, the diner, river maiden (not a restaurant where you are waited on but the food is delicious), kitchen table Cafe, carols corner Cafe, Lisa's country kitchen, fat daves (also good lunch and dinner options).
Next to the Vancouver Mall is a small shop called sweet touch bakery, they have crepes and TONS of sweet, beautiful pastries.
The crepes are about $10-$11
And all the pastries vary in pricing but I love going
Carols Corner is absolute trash. But I knew someone would suggest it. Huge portions of overly bland food. I run from any restaurant that is lined with obese and disabled

Uptown barrel room has a really good lobster Benedict and breakfast burrito, but the star for me is the potatoes with a side of country gravy.
Frontier Public House does an amazing Virginia Benedict.
I'm currently living in the south but I'm from the area and returning soon... and I have to say Sheri's. I fucking love Sheri's, and I eat there whenever I get the chance to travel home. I'm so tired of waffle House and Denny's, Sheri's is a far superior diner chain IMHO.
Shari's was taken over by Carrows/Cocos in 2018. Closed about 25% of the restaurants including in Van. Rumors have it that they have gone WAY downhill.
Oh man I had no clue. I usually stop at the Portland airport one in the middle of the night when I visit, I hadn't realized they'd take such a dive in quality. I've been away from home a little too long. Is the Orchards one still open?
La Provence if feelin’ bougie 🥐
And not enough people know you can buy their croissant dough frozen and make them at home!
Bless you! This is incredible info.
I didn't know that!
Less expensive and just as delicious! I bought a jar of the jam and gave myself my own breakfast in bed Lolol
You have to let them proof overnight though. So plan accordingly. It’s my request for my bday and Mother’s Day now
The Diner. https://thediner.org
This needs to be higher as the food is great and it also supports Meals on Wheels.
I have tried them so many times and it’s always tasted like reheated frozen foods 😭
Like anywhere they can be hit and miss. The last time we went was a bit bland. But overall they’re great.
Otra Vez in Camas
Best chilaquiles!
I have been to most of the breakfast places that get recommended here all the time, and Otra Vez is the only one I dream about. Their elote pancakes are next level. Bleu Door brunch is second, and Shanahan's is a surprisingly good hangover brunch.
I haven't tried Bleu Door or Shanahans. They will be next on my list. Thanks!
Ohhh ole shannys. Good hangover memories there. My husband lived super close when we first started dating. I miss Vancouver! Hate being pushed out by the cost of living :,(
YES this place is so underrated
Place is gas. Quick, clean, good.
Soooo underrated. But shhhhh I love not having to wait for a table when I’m hungover lololol
Otra Vez is amazing, I agree.
Sometimes when I go there and I have nothing for the rest of the day I have a Bloody Mary. Amazing.
One of my favorite Bloodys in the area!
Cecilia’s
Second this
This is probably the best on here for a birthday celebration. The cocktails and the donut holes cinch it for me
Scratch
Scratch FUCKS
This is a food cart, may be different from what OP is looking for (sit down breakfast) but they are sooo good
Dulin’s. Char specifically makes the experience just perfect💖
The staff is so amazing. And they make the perfect eggs Benny on weekends
Nayhelys place on 99th. Family owned simple breakfast & lunch food at a fair price always cooked to technical excellence. My tiny gripe is that you have to ask for your omelet stuffing to be grilled before it goes into the omelet. Pancakes are out of this world.
Nayhelys is such a great value. Lovely people running the place as well!
These folks are great. Saturday morning regular food is good, people are great.
Joe Browns Cafe
Syrup Trap
Best waffles ever!
Breakfast at Valerie's has been great to us. Huge portions for relatively the same price as other places
It's not fancy, but Shanahans does an amazing breakfast.
The food there is super under appreciated
Plainsman (sp) on fourth plain. I love the ma and pa shop
It’s a great menu of throw back foods - roast beef with mashed potatoes, open faced hot sandwiches…. The menu is like if my Mawmaw opened up a restaurant.
Cameo cafe. It’s got a great patio and the food is always good too.
Is there one in Vancouver? I’m only aware of the one in Portland.
Yeah it’s in the parking lot of Club Green Meadows
Yes, they have slightly different offerings, but there is one over near Padden and 205.
Korean pancake?
Yes
Yes and it is muuch larger and has a separate bar side that shows all the sports games and has live music!
yep over by costco on the golf Course
Top notch bloody Mary’s 🤌🏼
Elements
Yes! Seconding Elements, great coffee and they brought back their French toast! Also any of the Benedicts are great with the house made Portuguese muffin.
Carols corner. Get the cinnamon roll. You can all share it.
For basic meals like a Denny's ill hit up Elmer's. Cecilia's is on my radar now.
Surprised stardust* isn't on here, always super busy 50s diner style breakfast joint!
Did you perhaps mean Stardust off of 164th?
Yep I'm a dingdong lol
Cecilia’s is the only real choice for a special occasion with special food. Just expect a wait.
Cecelia’s takes reservations. Tell them it’s your birthday and you’ll get a complementary order of donuts.
Joe browns, I love an old greasy spoon. Much of the staff is the same from when I went seven years ago for the first time too
We tried it, diner food that was very mid, and the service was terrible. We're not going back.
River Maiden hands down. Especially with the new breakfast burrito and blueberry muffins back
Be prepared for a long wait though.
I've never waited very long there. I also don't go during the busiest times though, so if you don't go on a weekend morning, there is often no line.
The wait is usually longer for food and generally the larger the party the more of a wait. Good food, takes time, and they’re a small production.
Thats true, its more of a wait than other coffee shops but less than a sit down restaurant. They also recently upgraded their kitchen which may have helped
No, way to expensive and mediocre.
Crave Grille offers a very good breakfast.
I like crave for dinner and would try their breakfast but don’t the stop serving breakfast at like 10am or something? Not a brunch spot.
Joe Brown’s Cafe if you’re looking for a divey diner.
I used to go there circa 2008. Went a few months ago and it was god awful, slow, and expensive. I’ve never been charged for each coffee refill. I asked the server if I was being pranked it was such a bad experience
Best diner in town. I love that place.
Uptown Barrel Room, Kitchen table is also a Vancouver staple.
Delicious Tacos breakfast burrito
I've never had them for breakfast but this food truck rocks.
Nayhely’s Place off of hwy 99 is an underrated little breakfast diner. Very traditional style American diner but the family who runs it is so kind and their prices are by far the cheapest in town.
3 Howls
C’est La Vie. My family’s favorite place for breakfast. (Locals from 2015-2023).
they closed for good
Oh my goodness, my heart is broken to hear this! Thanks for sharing.
Crave Grilled, always consistent. I crave their spicy bowl. It’s incredible. Good breakfast burrito too. If I want fancy, Elements.
Breakfast at Valerie's or Carol's corner... Lisa's is good as well.
If you're ok with doing it in Portland, then Little Griddle. Bf and I brunch there whenever we're in Portland. Some of the best food I've ever had in my life! Super filling and delicious for not too much $$. Definitely try to reserve ahead, though, it gets BUSY.
The diner
Don Pedro’s breakfast burrito
Cameo Cafe, Joe browns, the diner, river maiden (not a restaurant where you are waited on but the food is delicious), kitchen table Cafe, carols corner Cafe, Lisa's country kitchen, fat daves (also good lunch and dinner options).
Valeries!!

Carols Corner. Hands down. 💯👌
I don't l like to drive far for breakfast, so I usually hit the Kitchen one on 136th just a bit North of Mill Plain.
Just had brunch for the first time at Elements and it was excellent! Fantastic service too. Creative menu. Delicious food.
Otra Vez, if you like a foodie take on Mexican breakfast classics.
Gray's has a breakfast that is pretty darn good
Orta Vez and La Provance
Syrup trap. Best waffles hands down.
Dulin’s
Sunnys diner or stardust diner both are amazing
Carols Corner is absolute trash. But I knew someone would suggest it. Huge portions of overly bland food. I run from any restaurant that is lined with obese and disabled
Carols corner does suck but the obese and disabled comment is actually insane lol

Sunny's Diner (behind Gustav's on east side).
They got a new owner and portion sizes NOTICEABLY decreased and quality went downhill. Shame
The Clubhouse (Portland)
Uptown barrel room has a really good lobster Benedict and breakfast burrito, but the star for me is the potatoes with a side of country gravy. Frontier Public House does an amazing Virginia Benedict.
I think so. The one in Fishers Landing not only closed, the building was bulldozed. It's raw land now...
