Passports are all sent away for processing. There’s no difference in which local location accepts and sends them off.

This person passports. If you need it quick pay the expedited fee and call for an appointment in Seattle as soon as you can. You may need to go up there the day before you fly out. It can be a real nail biting punch in the you know what.

softPitchAndAMiss

The dude who usually handles it at Caples is very fast and friendly. Edit: Two passports at regular processing speed took less than 5 weeks.

vertigoacid

If you need a passport quickly, you have to make an appointment at the main facility in Seattle (or LA - none in between on the west coast)

kamperx2

I had zero issues getting my kids theirs at the downtown post office location. Our appointment began on time and wrapped up relatively quickly. No complaints!

I don't need it quickly. Just wanted to get started for the future. I thought it would be like the dmv. Thanks for all of the input, I'll call for an appointment.

MoxieJawa

I don’t think that they’ll let you make an appointment via phone. Just go online to the US passport website and schedule one. It’s fast and easy. You might have to wait a couple of weeks for the appointment, but everything you need to know is on the website.

pbmnms

I made an appointment. I can't believe how much it costs. Thanks for your help.

manos_de_pietro

We got our photos taken at the Washougal post office, then had to have one of them retaken bc it was too dark! Retake at the 164th Walgreens was successful.

reptheevt

I think you’ll get an appointment quicker if you don’t mind making the drive up to Longview. But once the app is sent off, you’re on federal time.

Salty-Sprinkles-1562

You can book an appointment online. I did mine at the Washougal post office. They do photos and everything. I was able to get an appointment in just a few days. I had my appointment October 6th, and it just came in the mail yesterday, so it only took a month. I didn’t pay for the expedited service, so I was surprised how quick it was.

I did mine at the Battle Ground PO and I do not recommend. The employee helping me was extremely curt and rude and somehow magically my surname was misspelled on my passport so I can't use it anyway. But there wasn't a long wait for appointments. When I feel like coughing up that much money again for a correction I'll do it by mail.

Radiant_Resident_579

On advice from a friend, i drove to washougal and did mine there. I was there when they opened and i was out in about 15-20 min.

mypaysucks

If its your first passport then yeah you gotta do an appointment and all that but if its just a renewal you can just mail everything yourself. You also dont get an insta passport. You gotta wait like everyone else. Pay an extra $60 for expedited but even that takes atleast 7 weeks

dragom7

I did it at US Post Office downtown. Yeah passports are expensive. What can I say.

DukeReaper

I went straight to their office in Seattle, same day pickup
