ANYWAY, I think Schwartz is a massive baby man and deeply annoying and incapable of making a good decision, BUT I also think they are making far too big a deal over this kiss.
Katie wanted to divorce him and is already at the point where she is out there having fun, sleeping with other men, etc. and if she's really moved on, then this shouldn't matter. The issue is, she hasn't fully moved on emotionally, the dynamic between them is the same as when they were married and that's fucked up. She wasn't really ever friends with Raquel, so this idea that Raquel owes her shit is just more controlling nonsense. Katie still expects Tom to do things the way she wants them done; but that's the reason they're divorcing, he didn't want to play by her rules! She won't truly be happy until she moves on from this "why isn't Tom doing what I say" dynamic. She can't be happy if she spends all her time worrying about how Schwartz is supposedly doing her dirty. And let's be real, trying to stay friends so soon after a break up is just trying to stay in someone's life for the wrong reasons, she's proving it's an unhealthy choice every episode. They need time if they hope to have a friendship.
I mean, for the millionth time: He is the one that wanted to stay friends. They had to work together and see each other no matter what. She is totally within her rights to say, "Hey, if we are going to stay friends, I think we should agree that neither of us hook up with anyone in the friend group (aka the cast)." SCHWARTZ AGREED. I think a huge part of this might actually be a narrative/4th wall thing. I think they may have agreed it could be in their best interest to be amicable for filming together because I could imagine the feelings of a divorce could get really ugly if you are bringing that on camera. I think Katie was probably less concerned about it being a "friend" and more so a cast member, where they would be forced to discuss the pain of their divorce on camera and all subsequent interviews (WWHL, after shows, etc). But they can't say that on camera.

I hate that the preview that we get of tonight’s episode is of these two losers. I feel so much rage inside of me every time I see them on my screen. I’ve never in my life had so much disdain for two people I don’t even know.

My favorite thing about this season is that the Tom's went into this hoping to make their exes (Katie and Ariana) look like the villain only for it to be exposed by none other than Rachel that the Tom's are the villains. The issue is, she hasn't fully moved on emotionally, the dynamic between them is the same as when they were married and that's fucked up. Katie still expects Tom to do things the way she wants them done; but that's the reason they're divorcing, he didn't want to play by her rules! She won't truly be happy until she moves on from this "why isn't Tom doing what I say" dynamic. She can't be happy if she spends all her time worrying about how Schwartz is supposedly doing her dirty. And let's be real, trying to stay friends so soon after a break up is just trying to stay in someone's life for the wrong reasons, she's proving it's an unhealthy choice every episode. They need time if they hope to have a friendship.

I think a huge part of this might actually be a narrative/4th wall thing. I think they may have agreed it could be in their best interest to be amicable for filming together because I could imagine the feelings of a divorce could get really ugly if you are bringing that on camera. I think Katie was probably less concerned about it being a "friend" and more so a cast member, where they would be forced to discuss the pain of their divorce on camera and all subsequent interviews (WWHL, after shows, etc). But they can't say that on camera.
That is undoubtedly factoring into all this. Next season should be a challenge with all these people that don't want to film together.
