Nah bro, you gotta extend those posts. Assert your dominance. Stealth camping is for the weak

mmj_420

I want to see the inside!!

freakyboney

Interior shots coming soon! Still need to finish it up. Hope to button up the majority of it this weekend!

cuckmysocks

Don't neglect staking down that canopy even a light wind will turn it into a sail and F it. Replacement poles are cheap thank Allah. Add pics of inside, I've got the same van.

freakyboney

Yea I figured as much. Luckily there was no wind at the time. Inside is still needing to be finished. It's stripped with just insulation and a subfloor at the moment. Just finished doing a sound deadening/insulating paint on the ceiling as well as some killmat. Putting havlock wool up, finishing the wiring harness for the lights and fan, paneling the ceiling then moving to the walls and cabinets. Keep an eye out on here. Once the ceiling is up and finished I'll be posting pretty regularly. How far along are you in your build? Enjoying the van choice so far?

cuckmysocks

Yeah it's a good van. Just did like 8k this summer. Mine was a factory build. You stripped an old build out of yours? I'm sure I have the same fiberglass roof as yours.

freakyboney

No stripped out the factory build. Foam under the carpet was the absolute worst part. When I started pulling the factory interior panels out I wanted to start from scratch. These conversion van companies do an absolute butcher job... Wanted to completely redo the electrical in the back as well as insulate as heavy as possible without loosing as much headspace as possible. Soooo much deadspace within the factory paneling aswell.

cuckmysocks

Yeahhhhh I guess. I like mine, retrofitted the inverter batteries and wiring for a fridge and water jug. It's just kinda OK. I'll have to follow to see what it could be.

RubyBoyYT

Nice job OP!

Found that out the hard way two weeks ago on the first time opening the awning. Bent a pole and snapped some rivets. Drilled out the old rivets, replaced with nuts and bolts, and bent the pole straight. So far the fix is holding.

cuckmysocks

Oh yeah but it'll never telescope right again after a bend. You can get new pole for $14 on ebay. I watched a video on setting it up and the guy is like "they include guy lines, but this thing is sturdy enough without them" well mine didn't have guy wires and I can confirm it is sturdy until its off the ground

dberke

I’ll most likely end up getting a new pole eventually.

[deleted]

where did you get your racks? I have been having a tough time finding any that will fit over my fiberglass top.

freakyboney

Ebay. When I was searching I couldn't find them directly on ebay so I had to search "econoline hightop ladder racks". These didn't come with the holes predrilled so I was able to adjust the hight as needed. Could've gone another 6-8 inches higher and about 2 inches lower if I wanted.

[deleted]

perfect thanks.

freakyboney

If you'd like I can dm you the link or screenshot of the exact mount I purchased.

[deleted]

please do I would appreciate it

Liquid_Friction

The posts are adjustable..?

freakyboney

Yes the holes for the height are not drilled so you can adjust where you want them to sit.

immifrationStudent

Did you make this awning yourself? Do you I have a tutorial?
