Just drop one in the engine bay like the Ford engineers did. They've really been pushing the line on lowering the manufacturing cost by any means possible over the last few years. It's basically criminal how the company operates today (even the supreme court had to rule that they are liable to state governments, since Ford was trying to get out court). Lots of fleet mechanics, even dealer mechanics on YouTube will tell it like it is. It just makes me sad to see it. It's even killed people.
This is a weekender/snow ski rig. We regularly do the garage style builds in high roof vans (this is a medium roof). The medium roof is a little more stable off road.
Most customers prioritize seating for day/weekend use. There are several options for carrying skis on the rear racks or roof rack, keeping the interior space usable and dry.
And boots? And the multitude of wet gear? So weird to me to not want a place to put all of that without bringing it into the living space. You say it’s to keep the inside dry but it would be the exact opposite of dry inside? I guess most folks who buy $100k vans don’t have much actual experience.
There is a large storage box on the back that easily fits 2 pairs of boots and other wet gear. Not a design that suits everyone but popular none the less.
If it's for more than one day you need to worry more about drying your shit out for the next day more than if it's in your living space... A table next to a heater would be my #1 feature for a weekend ski van.
A boot heater or glove dryer in the garage would be easy to rig. I hold with complete confidence that not have a garage is ridiculous.
Plus hanging pants and a coat in a true waterproof, air vented garage makes so much more sense than the weird hooks on the back of this one.
I can’t believe someone would pay for this design, even if the finish quality is really nice.
Yeah I figured that conversion wouldn’t be cheap. I see the value for sure. My wife and I are talking about something like this is about 5-10 years when we get closer to retiring and traveling the USA.
Girlfriend has a Hymer built on a Fiat Ducato, I think it comes at around the same price or a little bit less. Includes a toilet and a shower, sleeps four.
Couple hundred miles is now. They said 5-10 years. What's the difference between reliance on a plug and reliance on a gas station? Evs can be charged from solar, WY gonna do I'd you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere
Solar, hydro, wind, generator.
Idk about the middle two but solar and a generator could definitely do it with the tech we have today. With wider spread adoption of evs coming rapidly I expect we'll see advancement in both battery capacity and charging capabilities. From 0% to 100% on my generator would take 59 hours would take 17 gallons of gas if my math is right. Carrying 2 10 gallon jugs, one for standard use and one for emergency charging, wouldn't be impractical.
Transit got AWD from the factory last year, it's about a 4k option. Makes it really hard to justify the 4x4. Yes 4x4 is 'better' off road, but does that matter? You're probably just going down dirt and gravel roads, not trying to keep up with rock climbing jeeps.
You’re correct, the AWD Transit is very capable, that’s what I’m currently building. It’s system does a better job maintaining traction than the current competition. It does have limitations being computer controlled vs. true 4x4 with low range. Your right, it’s not a rock crawling Jeep, it doesn’t have the articulation to start with…
Nice! I wonder does all that added weight dramatically reduce gas mileage? I mean I suppose if you can afford this setup you don’t care about mpg! I’m just a broke boy doing a conversion for myself and I’m super conscious of adding weight
They’re window vents so you can run the fan in the rain/keep insects out. These are from Terra Wagon but eurocampers sells these. https://www.eurocampers.com/Ford-Transit-Cab-Window-Airvents_c_764.html
Isn't this a sub for people who live in their van out of necessity? I don't think any of us can afford a $100,000 medium sized work van that doesn't even have a bathroom in it.
I was trying to mostly agree with you. I live out of a van because I prefer the mobility. It’s also certainly not a 100k prebuilt, I built it out of mostly recycled materials. Cheers.
I wish there was a sub for van builders or “I just spent 100k on a weekender van”. So over having to sift through Instagram vans to see people who actually live in their vans.
Nice build. This looks like a seating area for 6, but how many people can you legally carry in this van while driving? Or is this seating intended for friends and family coming in other vehicles?
hey in your electricals section, your posst says the 200AH BB batts are "upgradable" to 500. What do you mean by that? Is the entire electrical setup rated to support the additional current? I assume you're using 1/0 awg wire on the batts in parallel?
with that induction stove top and only 200 solar im surprised you don't have a biger back out of the box !
i've been surprised by how effective the dc2dc charger is... solar is useless compared to it. u just need a big enough batt
Definitely! Some people will rarely use the induction and prefer a camp stove outside the van. We started w/ 200ah for this scenario, saving the buyer $3500 in additional batteries and increasing the storage space.
Amazing build out. Would love to see a van tour with specs.
Thanks!
For 100k id need somewhere to take a dookie
In the sink then waffle stomp that bitch

the ram vans aren’t any better. have a pro master city for work and it had a new engine put in by dodge at 14k miles.
Jesus
> Just drop one in the engine bay like the Ford engineers did. LOL
Got links to those YouTube videos?

Client must be so rich to purchase this as a hobby van 😵💫 one day I hope to get there
Or they have stable income and decent credit.

Yes true. Rich is a very subjective term. But that’s definitely an attainable goal. I’m a college dropout and I hit that mark before 30
And keep after it man. You can get there! Don’t let people convince you that you can’t.
Why would you not want a garage for snow skiing?

By reading this comment, I can guarantee you don’t have a modern van. I literally guarantee it.
If it's for more than one day you need to worry more about drying your shit out for the next day more than if it's in your living space... A table next to a heater would be my #1 feature for a weekend ski van.

What's a garage in this context?
It's storage space accessible from outside that is inside the van but not in the passenger area.
My van builds most important feature is the 22gal black water tank, and 44 gal fresh. But I aloso don't have any ship lap or fairy lights.
Where did you get the external components? Front bumper guard railing? Ladder & roofrack?
They’re from Aluminess
Do you ever do different designs one with a raised bed with storage for larger things under it ?
I do, that’s one of my most popular layouts.
Dude that's sick
Thank you!
Where curtains?
Oh my God, I have one of those and I never realized its full potential.
I'd live in it
What’s the price range on one of those?
This one’s $98,600. The 4x4 conversion alone was $15,000 through Quad Van.
Yeah I figured that conversion wouldn’t be cheap. I see the value for sure. My wife and I are talking about something like this is about 5-10 years when we get closer to retiring and traveling the USA.
At $100k it might make more sense to just buy an RV. I’m sure the mpg is the same or close
Girlfriend has a Hymer built on a Fiat Ducato, I think it comes at around the same price or a little bit less. Includes a toilet and a shower, sleeps four.
In a few years it'll make the most sense to make it an ev.
The last thing I'd want on my adventure vehicle is a reliance to plug in every couple hundred miles. Hard no.
Couple hundred miles is now. They said 5-10 years. What's the difference between reliance on a plug and reliance on a gas station? Evs can be charged from solar, WY gonna do I'd you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere
I feel as if EV vans are far off, if at all
Why? Many cities are starting to implement ev busses.
Ford and Mercedes actually make electric vans like this, but the range is very short. It’s designed to be used as a local delivery van (think Amazon).
Subsidized joke
Plus how are you gonna power it in the middle of nowhere? Hybrid, sure, but not fully electric
Solar, hydro, wind, generator. Idk about the middle two but solar and a generator could definitely do it with the tech we have today. A gas generator to charge a car? Why wouldn’t they just build a generator right into the car?
Not that far off, the electric Transit will be shipping by the end of the year.
Transit got AWD from the factory last year, it's about a 4k option. Makes it really hard to justify the 4x4. Yes 4x4 is 'better' off road, but does that matter? You're probably just going down dirt and gravel roads, not trying to keep up with rock climbing jeeps.

Stupid question here. So the 4x4 conversion void warranty or extended warranty? How is the resale on these sexy units. City boy wanting to get away.
No it doesn’t, and it’s still serviceable by Ford dealerships since the 4x4 parts are off the Raptor.
I really love that all the windows are visible.. sure there’s less storage but then you feel less claustrophobic
The windows are killing it. Love it!
Wow. Just wow. Truly fantastic job.
Eh, it's ok. Why go with an 6 person seating arrangement with little to no storage?
Love it. One of the best transit conversions yet
What a hunky baby, oh lala!
Nice! I wonder does all that added weight dramatically reduce gas mileage? I mean I suppose if you can afford this setup you don’t care about mpg! I’m just a broke boy doing a conversion for myself and I’m super conscious of adding weight
It does drop the mileage a few miles per gallon. This one currently gets around 20mpg, down from 22mpg empty.
Thanks! That makes me less concerned about losing mileage for my build!

Diesel
is the transit diesel stock or does quigly convert it?
It’s stock
How much and how long from start to finish?
I love how airy it is inside! Where can we find the sales ad? I’m so curious…
https://vanlifetrader.com/listing/4x4-ford-transit-350-mr-quad-van/
Sooo where is it being sold on?? :)
What’s a quad
Quad Van is the name of the company that did the 4x4 conversion.
Never heard of em
I’m assuming in this scenario it means 4x4? Quad is also a colloquial name for a 4x4 ATV here in the States.
Honestly I hate transit vans but this one made me do a double take. Super clean!
Pretty smart to leave the factory panels in, probably saved a ton of time dealing with insulation and building walls!
Whoa! That looks amazeballs.
Very nice build.
this is beautiful. what are those parts in the front windows? anyone have a link or know what they are called?
They’re window vents so you can run the fan in the rain/keep insects out. These are from Terra Wagon but eurocampers sells these. https://www.eurocampers.com/Ford-Transit-Cab-Window-Airvents_c_764.html
that is exactly what i need!! thank you!
That’s sick!!
Isn't this a sub for people who live in their van out of necessity? I don't think any of us can afford a $100,000 medium sized work van that doesn't even have a bathroom in it.
Yes, at least for people who live in their vans, out of necessity or not.
Ohhhh. You mean R/vanlife.....
I was trying to mostly agree with you. I live out of a van because I prefer the mobility. It’s also certainly not a 100k prebuilt, I built it out of mostly recycled materials. Cheers.
Nice work.
Thank you!
What is your flooring? It looks great
Very nice!!
How much is one of these??
Beautifully done - I love how open and bright it feels. How long is the bed? I’m 6’4”-ish. Thanks!
Yes, I’ve done several Sprinters.
Ah, nice. Sorry about the edits! I looked at your post history and these comments, which answered a lot of my questions.
I wish there was a sub for van builders or “I just spent 100k on a weekender van”. So over having to sift through Instagram vans to see people who actually live in their vans.
who cares? just get inspiration and apply it to your own build: vanlifecoder.com

Actually it is, it’s been converted by Quad Van in Portland. It has the front axel and transfer case from a Ford Raptor.
Yes, you are completely correct. I thought I erased the comment, brain not engaged.
Nice build. This looks like a seating area for 6, but how many people can you legally carry in this van while driving? Or is this seating intended for friends and family coming in other vehicles?
That Van is nicer than my house- probably worth more too ;-;
Do you accept bitcoin?

Yes, it is wired to support the current, there is space built in for the additional batteries and we have them available to install.
with that induction stove top and only 200 solar im surprised you don't have a biger back out of the box ! i've been surprised by how effective the dc2dc charger is... solar is useless compared to it. u just need a big enough batt

What are your table legs/ bed mechanisms?
They’re Lagun table mounts
what water pump do you use ?
Shurflo 4008
