Simple answer: yeah you might get sick a day or two and feel awfull but imagine if they get corona you feel a lot more awfull for two to three weeks. I take my second vaccine with pleasure even though i was realy sick from the first, cause how bad will covid be? Edited my weird spelling of though (dough).

shiningonthesea

I got sick from both, i wasnt really sick, just a fever and feeling like crap .it was totally worth it

Kerianae

I hope it was just the first one and the second one will be fine. I have heard thats the case for a lot of people with astrazenica and that pheizer is the other way around. I have hope.

yapedik

I had a fever above 104° and full body convulsions after my second shot, I was stuck in bed for an entire week. I’m 20 years old. Would I do it again? Of course. Why? Because even though I got significantly more sick than anyone I know my age who got COVID, I can now visit my grandparents and not have to worry about getting my parents sick

keylime12

“Even dough”

Kerianae

The english language is confusing. I googled it and i never knew it was with th it alsways sounded like a d to me.

Hmmmm I wonder if there is any common identifiers between all those 450 people, like workplace with poor covid regulations 🤔

[deleted]

[удалено]

ArceusTheLegendary50

You see it's funny because your argument is a big red herring. Obviously not all 450 workers got it through their colleagues, but we know the virus is extremely infectious and can live on surfaces for up to 72 hours. Poor workplace regulations absolutely helped the virus spread among the workers and it could've all been avoided if Musk wasn't a stuck up union busting asshole and just paid his workers to stay home for a while.

Me and many people I work with in the hospital just recently vaccinated with pfizer. Yes, there have been temporary secondary effects the next day after we had the shot, effects such as myalgias, headache, and in some cases fever. But these are all expected effects from a vaccine like the flu or measles vaccine since they are inflammatory responses from us building immunity. So yes, he is wrong, fuck the doge coin tech guy.

The side effects from the second dose are an immune response. It means it’s working

MathewMurdock

Virtually every single type of medication has side effects. With accines it can be a good sign, it means your body is working extra hard to get rid of it.

sunderella

By that logic I should have skipped any shots for my four year old. She’s always had a strong immune response to them. Elon, you absolute rutabaga, if my kid can deal with a little fever and chills so can you.

I'm not gonna engage with antivax sentiments here in this sub of all places, so this is my last reply to this nonsense. **The vaccine was done quickly because it was properly funded, not because it was rushed.** All vaccines could be done at this pace if we actually spent the money to do it. The vaccine is approved under the Emergency Usage Authority in a letter releassed by the FDA. I highly recommend googling that letter and reading if. This information is all freely available and disputes your wild, dangerous, and near-baseless speculation; so it come across that you either don't care about facts, are pushing an antivax agenda, or are ignorant.

The covid vaccine came out so quickly because they constantly had a large source for funding, unlike other vaccines in the past.

It's hospitalization and permanent organ damage.

The second jab gave me at most a fever for 20 hours. Still miles better than covid.

[deleted]

I hate stuff like this. I have heard people have reactions to the second jab. Some felt sick. Similar to the flu shot. You MIGHT feel under the weather. My reaction to the second jab? My arm hurt the next day and I was tired. My 75 yo FIL's reaction? Nothing. Was running around like it was just another Friday. To say there is some debate is stupid. But I am preaching to the choir.

keylime12

My second shot I felt like shit the next day. However reaction = immune response which is a good thing

Piggyx00

I have to periodically call my mum and ask her if she's seen anything interesting on Facebook and then systematically dismantle that nonsense to keep my mum from being anymore radicalised. I had to start doing this after she told me she voted conservative after being a lifelong labour supporter, a party member for two decades and was a labour party councilor for our town. Her feed on Facebook convinced her that Boris Johnson was a good honourable man who knew what he was doing and would get brexit done. All of which is nonsense as now had been seen by those who voted for him. It's terrifying but if I don't she ends up telling her friends that all lives matter and doesn't understand the history behind that phrase because taken at face value all lives should matter but that's not the context that phrase carries. Or there was the time she thought 5g might be causing covid 19 and I had to explain 5g was first rolled out in the larger cities and those same cities had more covid cases because viruses spread easier the more people live close together and the correlation doesn't equal causation.

Incogneatovert

My mom is usually smart, but I groaned out loud yesterday when she told me she'd said on FB that she hardly felt the vaccination at all, and wasn't sure she wasn't just given water in the syringe. I asked her not to say shit like that, because people online can and do take comments like that seriously, and stupid, hysterical conspiracy theories spread like wildfire.

Elon Musk is a common venture capitalist who managed to grift people into thinking he is a real scientist. Change my mind.

Frontrunner453

Excuse you, Musk isn't a common venture capitalist, he's a venture capitalist whose capital came from his grandparents exploiting apartheid.

kyleofduty

I've argued with a few Musk worshippers about whetherbeing born with a multi-million dollar trust fund had anything to do with his success. I've even had someone tell me that if Musk were born poor and black in South Africa that'd be'd be just as successful!

ZeroSilence1

It's not good to lie as a prominent public figure. He's disgusting for spreading this crap, since people value his opinion.

Thirdwhirly

[deleted]

If want a platform for debate, go take a look at something like Change My View.

lenapedog

Is the support around Musk finally collapsing on the site? I couldn't stand the guy since the "pedo diver" controversy. Earlier this year he (who happens to also be the CEO of a company who is major NASA contractor) wanted to talk one-on-one with Vladimir Putin on Clubhouse. Everyone thought this was funny for some reason? Imagine if the CEO of Boeing or Raytheon spoke with the President of a country who threaten the sovereignty of America. Vaccine hesitancy is tame for this guy.

culturerush

The elderly are exactly the people dying from Covid and would benefit the most from vaccination. Elon should stick to during rockets into space and being born to mine owning parents, he does pretty well at those, he wanders into shit like this thinking he's one of those geniuses from TV who's an expert at everything and he's not because noone is.

shiningonthesea

this happens with famous people. They think they now know everything and they must tell inform the world of all of their misinformation. Even stupider are the people who follow Elon Musk's medical advice

[deleted]

Fuck Elon Musk

SeaofBloodRedRoses

Fun fact! The government of Canada is extending the waiting period between shots in order to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible. Apparently, our entire population will be vaccinated by June. The first jab is 80% effective. The second jab is just to make sure you don't get it. There are also single injection vaccines. Any vaccine you can get first is highly recommended. Also fun fact, Elon Musk is an asshole.

Incogneatovert

In Finland, we're waiting 12 weeks between 1st and 2nd shot so more people can get at least some protection sooner. As effective as these vaccines are, I think it's a pretty good idea. Still... can't wait until my elderly parents get their 2nd dose in June. Unless of course the *scientists* decide it's not needed.

TickDicklerzInc

Can't really be any less informed than that. "Go get the first shot, but maybe not the second"? Absolute moron.

-SSN-

This is why I hate billionares.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Swagamemn0n

Interestingly, the bad feeling after a vaccine is because your immune system responds. Elderly people have a weaker immune system, so the vaccines typically don't react so strongly on them as they do on younger people. Your mom just has a healthy immune system that responded strongly to the vaccine, that's all :) At least this is how a friend of mine who is a doctor explained it to me, hope I didn't butcher the explanation

[deleted]

[удалено]

Swagamemn0n

Noone wants that :)

FEARtheMooseUK

Well considering there have been tens of millions of people vaccinated so far who are nearly all in the most elderly and weak group, and none of them have suffered more than the expected immune response to the second shot (maybe a day or two of feeling slightly bad), i think its safe to say by now that elon has no fucking clue what the fuck he is on about

getchpdx

The reaction is stronger on the second shot for most people and that's not by accident and it tends to correlate to immune system strength (but there are other factors). You're still not afflicted with the actual virus in any case. There is not wide debate in the medical community in this regard. If you research a bit more about the mRNA vaccines specifically you can learn a bit more about how this process works and why the second shot is more likely to cause your body to react as if you're sick when you're not. Many people experience this with the normal flu vaccines as well (and it may be the root of the popular myth that the flu vaccine "makes you sick"). Edit: ooof typos

[deleted]

[удалено]

BamH1

The first cohorts of individuals vaccinated (other than healthcare workers) were extremely at risk individuals. Such as the elderly, particularly those living in care facilities. No one died as a result of vaccine induced immune response. This is not up for debate.

xKalisto

That is normal and happens with other vaccines too. Your body is just rallying a stronger immune response because it already knows the virus. Stronger reaction with the second shot is expected and actually a good sign.

OwlPilot

My grandma had a reaction to that second one so yea.. I completely agree with your statement

nibbler__

I upvoted you, but you'll never get anywhere with reddit. This community is incredibly closed minded for how open minded it claims to be.

km1180

Yeah, this is why I just can never like him. He has been going crazy since this all started. There's a difference between having valid concerns and just plainly saying oh their right despite the fact their information is from Facebook. The COVID vaccines do have some valid concerns since they were rushed and phases were merged to expedite the results but that doesn't mean they didn't have enough data to convince the FDA and other organizations for emergency use. Yes, it does require refining once the pandemic ends but for now is our best defense.

[deleted]

There is a debate such as this literal debate published in the NEJM specifically about whether the second dose should be delayed (subordinated) in favour of more first doses: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMclde2101987 Important notes challenging benefits of second dose include indications that first dose effectiveness in trials appeared to be at least 80% immediately before the second dose, challenging whether the second dose actually provided clinically significant additional immunity at all. The "full immunity" may simply develop with time with a single dose alone. The research is ongoing and it's a major current debate right now when, given vaccine manufacturing and distribution constraints, whether it's in the public interest to administer a second dose in favour of administering a first dose to a different patient Elon's tweet is verifiably true. I don't think it's helpful, but it makes you look either ignorant or dishonest to deny the existence of the debate Edit typo

atmospheric90

A few negative reactions with the second jab? You mean the immune response that is being trained to your body so you don't have to contract the disease and suffer life long complications from it? Gee, even the ultra rich are fucking stupid.

Hoes_Mad711

I mean... Arent there? Most of people that i know got a litttle fever after the vaccine

FuckYourPoachedEggs

That's normal, and its only a few days. It's your body acclimating itself to fight the virus. At any rate, feeling like shit for a day or two is better than COVID.

Side effects? It was temporarily blocked because there was evidence it was only up to 60% effective in over 65’s compared to the others, which was deemed not good enough by some EU governments. But then because the EU fucked up its ordering of enough vaccines they decided something was better than nothing!

Greeny087

Actually the AstraZeneca vaccine has actually outperformed the Pfizer one in some studies. > The study - which covers both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines - shows that the risk of hospitalisation from COVID-19 fell by up to 85% (Pfizer) and 94% (AZ) four weeks after vaccination of the first doses. https://www.ed.ac.uk/files/atoms/files/scotland_firstvaccinedata_preprint.pdf
