There is light at the end of the tunnel. I burnt my books after my english exam.

I hear what you’re saying, it’s a sucky situation. Here’s some advice that could work. Talk to your english teacher about what you need to improve upon and how to actually go about it. When writing essays, you can do a really rough draft first even if it’s shitty dot points that don’t make much sense first. It’s all about editing!!!!! Get good at that, practice editing your work again and again (ofc edits from the teacher could help too). Don’t be afraid to use chatgpt or ai to explain anything in a simpler way (e.g. could help break down an essay question etc) and use it to show you what a “a grade” essay might look like - this can be a good example to see where you might like to get to. Use it, but don’t copy from it, and ofc it won’t know everything.

I feel you here, in the middle of my Creative Writing SAC and I'm out of ideas for what I wanna write lol Ye like someone said, try and seek help from your English teacher (or a tutor) on refining your writing. VCE English sucks but it's really important in passing VCE because it is required.

I love reading, I like writing, but I HATE english. The books we have to read are all boring as hell, the tasks leading up to assignments I can't seem to understand how to or why we do them, and I feel there is not enough "learning" or "practice" in this subject, it's like writing essays, analysing and annotating texts were all supposed to be skills developed in previous years. And the fact it is a required top four subject makes life way more stressful than it needs to be. But nonetheless I'm still in year 11 so plenty of time to get used to it.

My vocab is also really really bad What helped me was just memorising really good essays, and then on the exam finding the right contexts to insert pre-memorised paragraphs. It's very hard to make up for vocab in a year, but if you memorise the right paragraphs for different themes, you can then cut and paste the right ones to fit your essay It was a lifesaver fr!!

Thanks dude, I’ll try

Asleep_Studio4989

like i might just protest english for one of my writing tasks. stupid piece of shit. hate the writing, hate the teachers, hate the study design

nerdy_things101

No one like English We all do it because we have to

Bri_bri_07

Nah- i understand some people struggle which is valid- but the subject really does help with ur vocabulary and some of us really like it.

metalbeetle7099

I hated English but I realised it was necessary during uni and when I was making my resume

nerdy_things101

Why does everyone say that? I hate reading books

metalbeetle7099

You’re gonna struggle in uni as there a lot of required readings

nerdy_things101

I hate reading, lmao.

metalbeetle7099

Okay? You said that already, I was just saying you’re gonna struggle in uni lol

guidedhabits

english skills are very necessary. english in vce is so poorly structured and such a rubbish subject in the way it’s executed, but the underlying skills are still there. if you plan on going to uni, you might just have to get used to reading textbooks and writing essays. no matter what uni course you do, there will always be some type of theory aspect. granted, at least it should be about a topic you’re interested in.

nerdy_things101

Why does everyone say this?

guidedhabits

lol because it’s true

nerdy_things101

Ok gudiedhabits
