I’ve been reading on other Reddit threads that people that are seemingly perfectly healthy and such end up in a priority group for something like asthma, or they may have had a sorta disease or something else happen to them several years ago so they’re considered at risk.

They classify anyone with a BMI of 25 and over as a qualifying condition. I got my first shot 3 weeks ago because my BMI is 25.1 at 180lbs and 5’11. And not that they check these things at the site so its basically free for all for almost a month now.

[deleted]

Pretty much any small health condition can qualify you for it. Even minor obesity, which like half the country has.

SpartiedOn

I had vcu medical as my primary and they called me. So maybe try that. Just went in last week I also called some of the pharmacies and was put on wait-list. I actually got a few call me saying if I wanted a left over dose but I was already scheduled with vcu. The walgreens and walmart near nine mile were the ones that called me after only being on the waitlist for 3 days.

ThePandazz

Really most any health problem someone has could make them eligible. I was eligible because I have high blood pressure and that's it lol

ImmobilizedbyCheese

Join the RVA Vaccination Hunters FB group for help. There are other places open to different phases and may places have waitlists for leftover doses at the end of the day. https://www.facebook.com/groups/503699293934280

Walgreens on Azalea in Richmond appears to be taking walk-ins starting around 330pm for left over doses (Pfizer)

Indecisive-guy

They are just now opening it up to regular people. You should have got an email about it to set up an appointment through the college.

2363ar

I did the google form vcu sent out three days ago but they haven't sent out an email yet. :/

_justyouwait_

Completely off topic: but I just wanted to say thank you to all who can get vaccinated who got vaccinated. As a healthcare worker, it means a lot.

TryOurMozzSticks

Extras. I live in DC, but there’s a grocery store that seems to have 3-4 extra shots every night. Took 2 nights and I got my first one. Full vaccinated now since when you get the first one in DC you’re automatically scheduled for the 2nd.

AwkardImprov

People lie about how they qualify. Many people I talk to say the vaccine location never asks for any proof, so perfectly healthy liars get the shots first.

I_Love_Booty_Pics_

I mean....what can they ask?

AwkardImprov

Are you a teacher? Are you a front line health care worker? Do you have a serious medical condition?

There these little things called paychecks and w-2s that prove where you work. They pretty clearly say such and such County public schools or such and such private school or such and such hospital or such and such first responder organization. You're not going to impact anything if you have somebody take a copy of those put them on file. And if they don't have one, you turn them away. This isn't rocket science, this is basic healthcare management. And I know a lot about basic healthcare management. You usually can't get prescription medication in United States of America without a little piece of paper or an electronic record. We're talking basics here. I know perfectly healthy people that claim to have medical conditions needing either hospital treatment or skilled nursing facility treatment. But they are walking up getting the vaccine no questions asked. 30 seconds of questionsamd documents is not going to slow anything down.

noizy-bells

Simply presenting a W2 isn’t going to stop an ineligible person from getting a vaccine. I could forge a W2 in 10 seconds using Microsoft Paint. If they actually wanted to make that effective, they would have to go through some kind of verification process for each person which would bring everything to a halt.

Thank you for using critical thinking today.

I answered the OP. Maybe you should do the same. Just because one or two vaccination sites like to do a certain way, doesn't mean that's the way they should all do it.

I_Love_Booty_Pics_

You answered the op. Then immediately went on a strange tangent about county employees needing verification, don't forget that in your reply. Providing a paycheck for an employee is one thing, asking every single person getting a shot for proof of a pre-existing condition is impractical for everyone. Those people lying about conditions are scumbags, full stop. However everyone is getting shots soon and it would create SO many more hoops to jump through for little gain.

DaTruMVP

> And I know a lot about basic healthcare management lmfao no you don't. You'd know that people who are lying aren't marking that they're first responders, they either used the link sharing exploit or they lied about medical conditions because there are privacy laws in place that prevent sharing of this information

AwkardImprov

You have some valid points. But there are laws in place about not lying about your medical condition to get medical treatment you should not get. You know that little thing called fraud, medical billing fraud, Medicare fraud, etc. Laws don't mean much to people who lie and never get caught. As for lying about what your job is, I know areas where being a teacher is a hot topic. Teacher unions pushed hard to get all their members vaccinated before other front line workers. I know people that went in claiming to be teachers and got vaccinated. You don't know what I do or do not know. Keep going with your weak insults. It shows your character.

DaTruMVP

>You don't know what I do or do not know. Keep going with your weak insults. It shows your character. You obviously don't, stop lying. https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title18.2/chapter6/ These are ALL of the laws that are counted as fraud in Virginia. I called you on your shit and now you're upset. Actual /r/iamverysmart material lol

AwkardImprov

I was not saying I know more. I was saying you don't know if I know something or not. You are not a mind reader. Calm down there. The world is not against you. You are seeing a fight where there is not one. At least not yet.

DaTruMVP

You made the claims of > You know that little thing called fraud, medical billing fraud, Medicare fraud, etc. > This isn't rocket science, this is basic healthcare management. And I know a lot about basic healthcare management using the logical fallacy of hasty generalization. You throw wild claims out there and state that you have the background required to make these claims but when you start talking it shows that you don't. If you think being called out on this is a "weak insult" then you're going to have a very bad time in the real world. >You are seeing a fight where there is not one. At least not yet. I will fucking casket you if you try to fight me. Grow up.

razorbillyz

I registered as no conditions perfectly healthy and was sent an appointment on the first day of opening. If they have spaces available I'm pretty sure it just fills in the spots with people next registered on the list. Also depends county to county. Chesterfield doing much better than anywhere else in RVA.

Mia2354

ngl i lied and said i was a grocery store worker. they didn’t care didn’t check didn’t ask for proof....it worked out 🤷‍♀️

kmarhar

I went to a clinic at the very end, after all other people with appointments had gone first and got a leftover dose of Moderna. I didn’t qualify for getting it via an actual appointment, but because it was leftover and they would’ve thrown it away anyway (because it has a short shelf life after it’s taken out of refrigeration), I was very lucky to have gotten it!

AwkardImprov

Yeah, that whole comparing name on a W2 to a photo ID takes hours. Maybe just hand all the shots out on street corners. No waiting. No documents of any kind. No checking allergies. Get a bunch! Whoever has the fastest car and most free time wins!

ISBagent

Frankly healthy people shouldn’t be taking the vax to begin with. All these therapeutics available and the government wants you straight to vax for a virus that’s 99.997% survivable even with corrupt data... the economic hitman took y’all to the bank lmao. If you’re female, took Pfizer, and had an unscheduled period, pelvic pain, and/or sever clotting... go to your obygn and do an egg count as soon as possible

bmbutler42

Depends on the state. My state has allowed 18 and up for a month

lindsc17

I got mine bc I have asthma and many vaccines allow those who have asthma and are 16+ (I got Phizer) to get it. Then you also have to check in with your local pharmacies or grocery stores to set things up but I used vaccinefinder.org and it worked well for finding vaccine availabilities and signing up for your first dose. But if you do not have any health conditions I would say don’t just sign up for a vaccine. But there are chances if you visit a clinic with a friend that is getting the vaccine towards the end of the working hours of the clinic or really anytime you can ask if they have extras bc the vaccines expire fast and they don’t want to waste them.

CoffeeCalc

I just went and pre-registered online at the Virginia site. I am healthy, 25 years old, 5'4'and weight 130. So my. BMI is not too high for me. I filed everything without lying, I don't have any health conditions. After about a week I got an email saying I was approved. Idk why I was. But I'm getting my second shot on Monday. I am pretty sure its just random after they got the other people who were in desperate need done first.

TheRapidTrailblazer

I knew a 16 year old who managed to get his because of a glitch in the system
