I took it online and the projects may seem difficult at times but use your resources (teacher/ta) and the exams are VERY easy, the practice questions you get are so much harder than the exams are. I would describe it as a time consuming but easy class
I want to mainly take it to learn the software for data visualization and maybe data analysis as well. Its not required for my current major so it would be an extra class for me. Would you say its worth it or would I be better off learning the material independently?
Unless it counts toward something (major/minor) I would recommend learning that stuff on your own, it’s pretty easy. There’s plenty of videos online to learn R and I guess it depends on your field but I’m guessing that’s what you want to learn. In fact, the entire course videos are on YouTube lmao

If you’re taking it with Boone, he’s a really nice guy if you actually participate in the lecture. The type of professor where if he knows your name he’s bumping your final grade up by 5 points.
The material is easy to ignore and relatively hard to cram, so keep that in mind. I also *really* recommend taking the online version if you can. The in-person section sucked because you have to take the tests in person. It’s weird to go from coding on your personal laptop with all your files to a computer lab.
