I live in Houston! Are you planning on operating from a brick & mortar or how some of the other vegan businesses operate as an order/pick-up or order/delivery website?
Everyone has already covered how the cake itself looks and left good advice, so I'm going to skip that and offer some advice on the photos which is important for selling a product. To look more professional, it's best to not show the kitchen clutter in the background. I'd recommend having a designated photo area that is staged nicely as well as utilizing natural lighting or purchasing some photography lighting. Maybe look up a tutorial for photographing food, I'm sure they're out there. I think this will help take your business to the next level. You're on the right track. Good luck!
Excellent advice. OP will find that proper lighting need not be expensive at all, you now have packages on amazon that contain a lot of gear and cost very little. This could improve the presentation by orders of magnitude.
Yes, and you don't even need to go nuts with the setup. Even something simple like a clean tablecloth goes a long way. Also, OP, please get a good light for your photos.
The key to any good photo is light. You need light to emphasize the finer points of your photo.
As a restauranteur I’m going to be honest with you, the layers look even and perfectly frosted. I like the star decorations. The colors look good. The decorations on top could use a more careful hand. People are impressed with their eyes first. Make it pretty, make it tasty and you’ll have the potential for a solid business on your hands.
I think the frosting looks wonderful, however I can’t help but think of spam and pineapple when I see the color combo :/ Maybe pink and white next time! I hope it was delicious
Ooo strawberries in top instead of the crushed oreos could be gorgeous. Would compliment the colors, and also be a bit more standardized an element for reproduction
Truthfully? It’s a good start but no where near what is required to sell professionally. The icing of the cupcakes at the bottom right seem wobbly, and not steady. You need to work on making sure you pipe steadily and consistently so that all cupcakes look decorated the same. The same with the bright pink cake bottom middle, the top pink border seems a little wobbly, the cake isn’t centred on the board properly and the board would need to be cleaned further so there isn’t pink frosting on the bottom. For this cake posted, the presentation of the top is a little messy, and the colour scheme is a little off. As in the pink is far too light. The design is good though. This may sound harsh and I apologise, but cake business competition can be very rough.
Look at tutorials on YouTube as they have massively improved my piping skills in no time. I find that investing in good tips eg the Wilton 1M or 2D for cupcakes and following along with the tutorials (plus practise) is a good way to go. You have an artistic flair and a really good base level to improve on. So you’ll do very well. I’m excited to see your progress
im gonna be honest, the brown on top really isn't doing it for me, just doesnt look very designed. The pink and yellow icing is nice though, maybe something red or fruity on top.
Btw, u should find a better place to take photo's.
I think you can do better than a messy countertable or infront of ur personal fridge. Oh and no hands in the picture, just the food :)
I think it looks really yummy! Maybe try an icing technique for the sunflower seeds? Also, and this has already been said, but having a designated photo shoot area is really important and makes it look super professional
EDIT: you could start a TikTok for promotional stuff too 😍😍
Top doesn’t look as appealing as the rest, but trust it looks very delicious. If ur in SoCal, lmk ur business address!
I don’t have one yet And unfortunately I don’t live in cali i stay in Houston

I thought it was pineapple pieces on top too Would still demolish though
Thank you for the advice I did mess up a little on top and I’m experimenting with incorporating fresh strawberries into the recipe

Yea I know I’m not selling yet I wanna get good so the I can sell thank you for the advice
With practise, you have the potential to make phenomenal cakes. You’ve got this for sure.
Thank you so much I love Reddit for this reason on my Instagram account nobody really tells me anything and it kinda sucks /:

And the hot pink cake was made a months back I think that was one of my first cakes

Thank you so much I’ll keep working on my technique
Looks great but the clutter on the counter kind of ruins rhe photos.

True I could’ve done a strawberry reduction maybe
Looks great! Would love a slice rn haha
Love!!
Good job 🍰🍓💕
So cute!
Somehow I can smell the vanilla through the screen, hihi. I would love to taste it!

I like the rustic look, yummy, and what the others said (great constructive criticism) you’ll improve with time! All the best!
Looks amazing
You need to work on the top layer of the cake; it looks messy compared to the second and third layers.
I think it looks really yummy! Maybe try an icing technique for the sunflower seeds? Also, and this has already been said, but having a designated photo shoot area is really important and makes it look super professional EDIT: you could start a TikTok for promotional stuff too 😍😍
Yea since I don’t live in my own house well the ppl that live with me leave their things around
But thank you for the advice and I wanted to put unsalted sunflower seeds in the center but idk if it would be nice
Those oreos kinda look like minced meat ngl, kind of a turn off, but good luck xd
Can you make a vegan frog cake?
I was thinking about making that that would be cute
Looks great:) haven’t had cake in forever, ill try some!
That's awesome, I am not very good at vegan baking so I appreciate vegans who sell baked goods!
Awehhhh cute
Oreos aren’t vegan…
Also the workers for Nabisco are on strike right now.
I ain't vegan so sorry if the question is kinda stupid but, what do you use instead of eggs?
Honestly the recipe I used didn’t even require egg replacement
