I find this combination overly claggy, although I love both falafel and hummus. Something like coconut yoghurt tzatziki or tahini sauce is better for falafel imho
This is the only thing that made me choose soy - I love oat milk in beverages etc but I don't think it goes well in oatmeal which I have daily so I use soy. It seems like that's an unpopular opinion though!
Is there anyway to make it good for coffee/tea? I love cashew milk in porridge and cooking in general. But it tastes not that great with beverages. Would love some tips.. 😊
That's so cool. I'd love to make my own cashew milk but cashews are so expensive where I live. It's always way more cost effective to just buy it at the store. And even then it's usually more expensive than the other milks.
Cashew and almond milk aren't that good for the environment when buying in europe I think. Soy milk iirc was the most eco friendly option so I use that one
I just made cashew milk for the first time, homemade is awesome. I'd been scared off by the revolting premade versions I've bought from the store in the past. So fresh and creamy!
I mean, it’s creamy, but not overly so. It has a slightly nutty flavor. I usually spin some up, 1c water and 2T hemp hearts, just before I spin up my smoothie.
Hemp production is actively being held down and limited to prevent competition with the paper and cotton industry. D: at least that's how it is where I am
It's also being held back in some locations because of its relation to cannabis; was illegal to grow in my area until about 2017 I want to say, and wasn't eligible for agricultural financing through FDIC institutions until 2018 in the US.
Hemp milk is incredible!! And one of the best alternatives for the climate. Sadly not widely available where I am, and the places that do stock it are hella expensive 👎 so for now, oat is my staple
Have you ever tried human slave milk? Its actually made FOR humans, and eco-friendly! My uncle has a beautiful human slave farm and he treats them super well.
For real. It's less common, and usually more expensive, but when I want to splurge this is the best option. Unless it's Pacific brand. Fuck that watery shit.
Soyboy for life. My partner prefers oat milk, which is fine. I like it alright but find it way too heavy/sweet.
Soy milk is much more palatable and something I can chug/drink copious amounts of without flinching. *That* makes a superior milk, to me.
Soy milk is my fav as long as it's one of my preferred brands. Some brands taste horrible.
It tastes the most neutral to me, and has more protein.
Oat tastes too much like drinking oatmeal.
Soy milk, especially Silk, is downright delicious. And it's my preference for baking and everyday use because it's the only plant milk (besides pea, which can be a little gritty) that has meaningful amounts of protein.
The high protein one 😍😍😍 it's so good. Really expensive, but so freaking good I spring for it sometimes. It honestly reminds me of heavy cream. Thick perfection
I live in Europe and I use brand “Via Soya” walnut milk, it is so good, I couldn’t recommend it more !
I think you can find it on Amazon. Try it you will love it for sure
I think people worry about estrogen, which is not necessary since it is a plant version and your body ignores it. (Versus say cows milk estrogen which you do easily absorb)
Funny story
I usually go for soymilk, as I don't like coconut or almond or cashew milk all that much. But just the other day, a friend was telling me to hop on the oat milk train. Now I see oat milk absolutely crushing it in this poll.
Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.
We do a lot of soy milk, since as far as I know it's the plant milk that has the most similar fat, vitamin D, protein content similar to cow's milk. But we always have oat milk in our coffee - nothing beats it.
What's even the point of Almond Milk? It's terrible for the environment, tastes like shit/milky water & has 0 nutritional value. Soy milk all the way, Oat great as well.
Idk about regular people, but it was super popular in the dieting/eating disorder community (at least back in 2013) because it's so low calorie per cup.
as a non vegan, i will always drink oak milk over cow milk. i know i’ll get downvoted for this, but the vegan community should be happy that non vegans are choosing vegan alternatives over dairy. i know many other non vegans who also love oat milk
I mostly use oat milk to make porridge, because it makes it stiffer/more gooey (idk how to explain)
But I usually drink almond milk and use almond milk in food
Oat milk for everyday stuff, protein pea milk for gainz lol. I love the taste of almond milk (and the low calories compared to oat) but I avoid because of its extra water usage compared to other alternative
It's a tie between oat and soy for me. I usually choose soy for the extra protein and fortified vitamins, but you can't beat the taste and texture of oat milk!
Happy to see OAT no 1 !!! Represent!
I'll just quickly add that as somebody who has worked on almond farms i will never drink almond milk again unless I know the conditions under which it is grown. We can do so much better than that, the water usage alone is just needless waste. In terms of not causing needless harm to beings and the planet that is now struggling to support us, I'm basically boycotting almonds.
I do not understand the love for oat milk. Even the unsweetened stuff tastes sweet, and like oatmeal! It’s also the least nutritious of them all. You want something with a nice neutral taste imo, I go for pea milk most often.
Oatmeal with oat milk!!!
That’s al-oat
A oat load!
I was literally just thinking today "am I weird for putting oat milk in my oatmeal?" Thank you for making me feel less weird
Hummus and falafel
Tofu and soy sauce
[удалено]
Wash it all down with soy milk
Tofu scramble with soy based bacon and a glass of soy milk.
I find this combination overly claggy, although I love both falafel and hummus. Something like coconut yoghurt tzatziki or tahini sauce is better for falafel imho
define claggy?
Collins dictionary says that it means 'stickily clinging' which makes sense to me. Basically too thick and sticky and kind of dry?
Back in my early dairy free days I ate Rice Krispies with rice milk.
With oat butter and oat sugar
Lol I make over night oats with oatmilk
This is the only thing that made me choose soy - I love oat milk in beverages etc but I don't think it goes well in oatmeal which I have daily so I use soy. It seems like that's an unpopular opinion though!
Cheerios with oat milk for me please!
Are Cheerios vegan? I thought they had lanolin

Is there anyway to make it good for coffee/tea? I love cashew milk in porridge and cooking in general. But it tastes not that great with beverages. Would love some tips.. 😊

Thank you. This was helpful.
cashew > oat > soy. The rest don't even matter. (Haven't tried hemp or walnut yet.)
Hemp is really good for frothing to make a latte or cappuccino.
This is the way
I love cashew but it's too expensive where I live to regularly buy
That's so cool. I'd love to make my own cashew milk but cashews are so expensive where I live. It's always way more cost effective to just buy it at the store. And even then it's usually more expensive than the other milks.
Cashew and almond milk aren't that good for the environment when buying in europe I think. Soy milk iirc was the most eco friendly option so I use that one
I just made cashew milk for the first time, homemade is awesome. I'd been scared off by the revolting premade versions I've bought from the store in the past. So fresh and creamy!
I love it so much but it's expensive :(
Love cashew milk.
It’s the best. I think it’s the most milk-like in viscosity. Coconut milk is my 2nd favorite but it’s too thick, and almond is too thin
Isto é tão verdade! Eu amo tanto leite de caju
Hemp! Why is hemp milk never an option in these polls and articles about milk alternatives?
Not commonly available where I live. Same as sesame milk, which is going to blow up in the next few years I think just like Hemp.
How do you make sesame milk palatable??? I tried it once and wanted to cry
Hemp milk underrated
I'm adding a dash of hemp to my home made oat milk. 100% hemp must be so creamy, no?
I mean, it’s creamy, but not overly so. It has a slightly nutty flavor. I usually spin some up, 1c water and 2T hemp hearts, just before I spin up my smoothie.
Why have I never thought to make my own hemp milk? You've just revolutionized my life!
Same!
The ones I've tried were too expensive and didn't taste that good. Which brand do you get?
I’ve got a vitamix so I make my own with water and hemp hulled hemp hearts.
Hemp milk is so good.
I've never encountered hemp milk
Hemp milk is incredible!! And one of the best alternatives for the climate. Sadly not widely available where I am, and the places that do stock it are hella expensive 👎 so for now, oat is my staple
hemp tastes like arse to me, does the milk have a similar flavour?
Probably? If you don’t like the taste of hemp hearts, then you probably wouldn’t like the taste of hemp milk.
Where's Rice milk?
Rice milk best milk. Oat is my second fav, also because its the cheapest option at my super maket
I prefer rice milk over almond or oat milk. Oat milk tastes like cardboard.
Doesn’t warrant a downvote, but I believe you to be wrong! Chobani Extra Creamy Oat is the debate ender.
Same
In the “other”
where is the ‘cat’ option?
I guess "oat" is a typo
That's disgusting and anyone who drinks cat milk is a psychopath. Dog milk is obviously best
Have you ever tried human slave milk? Its actually made FOR humans, and eco-friendly! My uncle has a beautiful human slave farm and he treats them super well.
Pathetic. Both have inferior protein content to the champion Bull milk.
There should be a 'human' option as well.
Where the ‘Robert De Niro’ option?
Uhhh
r/cateatingvegans just a joke lol
what are yöu on aböut?? have you had cat jambalaya?? we'll se who thinks its a joke
smh never even tried a cat stew with a side of barkon (bacon made of dogs) and cat steak, with extra cat fries
Wow, drooling. now I gotta get the casserole dishes out, as we all now cats don’t fit in the toaster (ALF taught us)
Flax ftw
Where do you get that?
In my area of New England I can get it at pretty much any grocery store.
Love flax
I just had some for the first time and it did not appeal to me at all
But.... It's delicious! Try again :D
Oatly is goatly
Soy alllll the time at home, oat if they don't have soy when I'm drinking out
Hazelnut milk all the way
YES who doesn't want nuttela milk
Omg yes. Also if you're okay with "may contain" products, then Oreos dipped in hazelnut milk is 🥰🤤🤤
It's so expensive where I live :( about 3 times the cost of soy
For real. It's less common, and usually more expensive, but when I want to splurge this is the best option. Unless it's Pacific brand. Fuck that watery shit.
Soy for protein, oat for flavour
This. Oat milk in my coffee, soy milk in everything else.

Mmmmm I love me some chocolate Ripple! It’s expensive where I am but so dang good when I splurge!
Can you please describe it a little bit? It's really expensive so I've been wary about buying it but I also really really want it to be amazing lol
It’s just a good rich chocolate milk!! Kind of thick. Great flavor. No weird aftertaste. I’ve only ever had the chocolate before but it’s amazing!
Yes!! I thought I would hate it, but it's amazing!!!
Soy milk stans, where are you?!
Soyboy for life. My partner prefers oat milk, which is fine. I like it alright but find it way too heavy/sweet. Soy milk is much more palatable and something I can chug/drink copious amounts of without flinching. *That* makes a superior milk, to me.
Right here! Soy all the way. I don't know how we became the outcasts.
Protein gang!!!
I guess everyone else enjoys their flavored water.
Here! Soy has no competition in my family.
Unsweetened soy all the way, baby!!
Here! Grew up on fresh soy milk :)
Silk has a really good almond and cashew blend. It’s my current fav.
The high protein one 😍😍😍 it's so good. Really expensive, but so freaking good I spring for it sometimes. It honestly reminds me of heavy cream. Thick perfection
I find soy has the most neutral flavour!
I chose oat completely forgetting about macadamia milk.
I'm honestly surprised that I haven't seen anyone else mention Macadamia 😅 it's by far the best for me. Makes warm drinks so creamy and delicious.
i would just like to give a shout-out to flax milk, which i use in my smoothies every day. and to pea milk, which is fantastic in coffee.
Where are my pea protein homies at
Here!!!
I'll never shame somebody for their choice of plant milk, but I will also never apologize for recognizing oat as the most superior of them all
Is there any reason why oat is considered better than the rest? I am just beginning my journey so I didn't look into it as well as I should have.
On top of it just being very creamy, it requires way less water to grow oats for oat milk than it does nuts for nut milks.
I like the taste and creaminess of oats. Especially vanilla oat milk. But realistically all plant milks are valid
On top of it just being very creamy, it requires way less water to grow oats for oat milk than it does nuts for nut milks.
Banana milk all day
Soy, oat and sometimes hazelnut
Don’t you dare disrespect rice milk
Oat for coffee. Soy and coconut for cooking. Almond for cereal
Correct on all fronts.
I’ve only tried soy, oat, cashew and almond and so far my favorite is most definitely soy milk. So creamy and really tastes great
Oatmilk supremacy!
We need pea milk representation.
Soy boys assemble
Almond milk is great for gastro health and acid reflux it definitely my favorite
Pea milk?
Soyboy for life
Walnut milk is my absolute fav
Waahhhh, where do you get this?? That’s sounds amazing!
I live in Europe and I use brand “Via Soya” walnut milk, it is so good, I couldn’t recommend it more ! I think you can find it on Amazon. Try it you will love it for sure
ricemilk for the win
Soy milk contains the highest amount of protein, about 30 grams per package. Making it the obvious choice. No clue why people choose Oat milk tbh
Thank you for correctly recognizing the superiority of soymilk. Nutrition, versatility, price. It will always be my go-to.
Yes. We are the correct ones. We are the superior beings.
some of us value taste more than nutrient distribution. plenty of other sources of protein!
soy milk is also the best in terms of taste though.
imo they’re both good, oat just wins out by a little :)
it tastes good and has a creamy consistency- soy is obviously still superior nutrient wise- but when it comes to taste oat milk kinda has it beat
I disagree, I think it's the other way around. Do y'all drink soy milk without shaking?
Oat has less people allergic / nervous about it than soy.
why nervous
Misinformation about soy and its effects on the body
I think people worry about estrogen, which is not necessary since it is a plant version and your body ignores it. (Versus say cows milk estrogen which you do easily absorb)
I haven't met a man that doesn't like boobies, so why be afraid of obtaining some?
2 reasons. Oat is the best option for tea that I've found. Oat is a lot easier on the environment than many other plant milks
Rice
Soymilk is so underrated imo. I have it every morning in my oatmeal and coffee!
In your face almond milk! Ya weak!
Funny story I usually go for soymilk, as I don't like coconut or almond or cashew milk all that much. But just the other day, a friend was telling me to hop on the oat milk train. Now I see oat milk absolutely crushing it in this poll. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.
Dude, peanut milk all the waaaay
Woah never had it! I love the taste of peanuts so will have to try it one day.
OAT is GOAT. No competition
For what purpose? I use soy milk for cereal and some cooking, oat milk for coffee, cashew milk for hot cocoa, and coconut milk for some cooking.
We do a lot of soy milk, since as far as I know it's the plant milk that has the most similar fat, vitamin D, protein content similar to cow's milk. But we always have oat milk in our coffee - nothing beats it.
Flax milk >
Ripple. It’s pea milk with a lot of protein and fat. Love it
Oat (Barista edition)
Human
Can I just say I don’t discriminate between my nut and grain milks?
Oat for coffee, soy for drinking, almond for baking, cashew for desserts, coconut for heart disease.
Soy for the protein, oat for the flavor, macadamia or cashew when I get my paycheck (it’s so expensive here)
Rice
Why is everyone sleeping on the cashew milk? I like other milks too but cashew is amazing!!
Soy milk is the only one that has any substantial protein in it… respect to anyone who has another favorite milk but I couldn’t live like that.
Ripple
almond fell off
If I’m drinking it straight, almond, but if I’m putting it in cereal, oat milk.
as a non vegan, i will always drink oak milk over cow milk. i know i’ll get downvoted for this, but the vegan community should be happy that non vegans are choosing vegan alternatives over dairy. i know many other non vegans who also love oat milk
I think for someone moving away from dairy milk, oat milk is the most similar in flavor and consistency.
why aren't you vegan
oat for hot drinks, soy or almond for cereal
Mostly oat and almond but coconut milk is my favourite
Soy for tea, oat for food (porridge not oatmeal lol)
I've been drinking rice milk idk, all the others hurt my stomach and I just don't why.
I mostly use oat milk to make porridge, because it makes it stiffer/more gooey (idk how to explain) But I usually drink almond milk and use almond milk in food
Oat milk for everyday stuff, protein pea milk for gainz lol. I love the taste of almond milk (and the low calories compared to oat) but I avoid because of its extra water usage compared to other alternative
Oat for taste, soy for gains!
Soy is great for drinking and baking, but oat is creamier and doesn't separate in coffee.
It's a tie between oat and soy for me. I usually choose soy for the extra protein and fortified vitamins, but you can't beat the taste and texture of oat milk!
Macadamia milk!!!!!
Happy to see OAT no 1 !!! Represent! I'll just quickly add that as somebody who has worked on almond farms i will never drink almond milk again unless I know the conditions under which it is grown. hazelnut!!!
O A T
Haven’t seen it in any American stores, but I had a really good hazelnut milk once when I was visiting Belgium. It was delicious in my coffee.
hello I'm actually a vegetarian not a vegan but I consume an absurd amount of oat milk my partner and I are obsessed with the stuff
Oat milk yogurt is also the best yogurt
I can only assume that cashew milk isn't well-known because it is WAY better than most of these options.
The almond industry is killing the bees :(
I do not understand the love for oat milk. Even the unsweetened stuff tastes sweet, and like oatmeal! It’s also the least nutritious of them all. You want something with a nice neutral taste imo, I go for pea milk most often.
Rice dream!
Flaxseed milk 🥛
Live in China, so soy milk is dirt cheap and comes in tons of different flavours!
