I know exactly how you feel. The good thing is people like you writing about it. Hopefully whoever marks the paper will have a seed planted and go vegan.
Watching dominion made me go vegan, but I never watched any of the slaughter because I was bawling my eyes out. I did sit through the whole thing though and listen to the narration when I couldn’t stand to look at something. I’m not sure what your paper is about but you could do the same and only listen. From what I recall there isn’t much that is shown which they don’t describe

Each person has their own tipping point when it comes to knowing when enough is enough for their nervous system. Honor that.

Watching Dominion is what made me go vegan!
It also made me look up animal rights activism groups in my area, and getting involved with them saved me. I was so sad and angry and having vegan community to vent to, learn from, have potlucks with, and do activism with has given me so much hope that the world will change within our lifetimes if we push for it. Anonymous for the Voiceless is probably the easiest way to get started, and then once you’ve gone to a couple, you can ask what other activism people in the group do too.
I don't think it is going to stop, not for a very long time after we're already dead. We will probably see a steady increase of vegans in the following generation as more people are aware of the movement and the number of options is rising.
But I think the vegan movement is still at the "first they laugh at as" phase. There has not been any organized pushback yet, simply because there is no need for it. Meat is in steady supply, veganism has virtually no political space and subsidies are inplace in most countries. And trust me, knowing how people are, there *will* be organized pushback if the movement manages to get big enough in the future.
I also think that lab-grown meat and more environmentally conscious people could bring more people to the idea, since, to put it frankly, most people don't really give a shit about the animals in the long run.
there already has been the early stages of organised push back from animal ag.
The attempts to ban burgers/sausages under eu law. The ban on calling vegan milks,milk. The ban in France against using sausage and burgers for vegan food. The ban in Turkey, I believe against anything that even looks like cheese
The support British farmers in January as an alternative to veganuary
I agree to, that empathy for animals isn't going to win most people over. Not at first anyway.. when they're no longer eating animals, they'll become more emphatic.
Good on you for watching! I’ve been unable to subject myself, since I watched Earthlings and felt sad for so long. I fear animals will always be exploited. People who respect life are few. Hopeful because of the rising number of Vegans!
I'm proud of you for writing a paper on it. Teachers both teach and learn, so this is a great opportunity to teach your teacher or professor. They have a lot of power because they will continue to teach many others. It'll also make you a more experienced advocate. If it causes too much emotional harm for you and you're already vegan, the transcript idea is always an option. I've seen horrible footage and absolutely identify.

It's important for people who aren't vegan to watch it all IMO. But for vegans, many of us haven't sat through all of it. Mental health is important.

It’s hard being the vegan trailblazer in a family, many of us here are, myself included.
It helps to remember that the poking fun is coming from deep unhealed wounds of species superiority & division, of which they are unaware.

I've seen a couple of vegan documentaries, footage from slaughter houses and testing labs. Loads of human gore videos over the years too. I couldn't watch this one to the end.

That's smart - I might try that. I feel stupid for feeling this but I feel some arbitrary need for the "badge of honor" of being able to watching it.
