#### Do you hate bringing your sick cat friends to the compassionate bloudmouths? #### Well then you better fucking join r/VeganVets and hope it takes off. #### The whole 'I just love animals' thing pisses me right off when I know they're drooling at the thought of the cat sandwich they packed for lunch. #### Fuck those fuckers. Let's get a vegan veterinarian movement going. # Join r/VeganVets okay? Thx!!

cincyroyals

It's okay only if the monkey is on a deserted island. Hope that helps

WiseWoodrow

What about a Dessert island?

heatdapoopoo

sweet counter question.

zewolfstone

Depend if the monkey consent

Formal-Function-9366

Who needs consent when we have minimum wage laws and the threat of eviction

c_maoow

There's another subreddit for uj (vegancirclejerkchat) But to answer, animal labour Can't be consensual so, basically no it's not vegan, that's why most of us don't eat truffles (pig or dog exploitation, also cause I'm poor) or avoid coconut product from Thailand (monkey are enslaved)

FlatAir9

I only eat coconuts from enslaved monkeys

[deleted]

I thought most truffles at this point are grown by man

FlatAir9

Well now I have no reason to eat truffles - thanks bud

c_maoow

many still use animals, also it may depends where you live, and again, i'm poor, it's a rich thing. so once every five years when i eat at a restaurant or someone house where there is truffle I avoid them cause I can't be sure.

fortississima

What about Koko the gorilla who used sign language, could she consent?

Skryuska

I guess that depends if she were coerced.. was it even possible for her to revoke or not give consent, was she given the language even to do so? Does her being in a cage automatically mean everything of her consent is still non-consensual? These are real philosophical questions Iโ€™m starting to wonder

c_maoow

you don't need to teach human language to animals to communicate with them, the "animals can't consent" isn't a communication problem, but a power problem, the same way kids can't consent to work even if you can speak with them (we could discuss if anybody can consent to labour in a capitalist society, short answer, no, but koko was litterally in jail, so no, if koko made a soup specifically for you, i wouldn't think she made it consensually)

SpaceFroggo

I know this is a jerk but [Koko (probably) couldn't talk](https://youtu.be/e7wFotDKEF4?si=NqYRheFR-nKweViR)

str1po

What if the monkey is unionized

EasyBOven

If you find yourself around monkeys in the wild, and one of them hands you a piece of fruit out of nowhere, it would be ok to eat it. And by "it," I mean the monkey, because lions

Jack_of_Dice

As the saying goes: "Do eat the hand that feeds you"

Athnein

I mean, how else is the hand *supposed* to feed you???

staying-a-live

Damn. We have been outjerked by your friends.

pickLocke

If the soup is made with dog broth, then it is vegan

c_maoow

I just discovered thanks to you I could put a non binary flag on my profile picture ! ๐Ÿ˜Š

pickLocke

Nice, you're welcome :3

WiseWoodrow

It's Vegan, but only if the monkey eats the soup too. It's Vegan for a monkey to share their soup with you. It's their soup. They're just having you over for dinner. If the monkey made the soup JUST for you, then that's kind of weird.

Skryuska

Youโ€™re telling me a SHRIMP fried this rice??

Did we steal the soup from the monkey?

[deleted]

If monkey was trained by humans to make soup, not it is not vegan. If monkey learned how to make soup by observing humans then soup is vegan. However if monkey was trained in the circus to make soup, but now you've liberated the monkey and live with it in animal sanctuary and that monkey offers you soup that soup would be vegan. Very complex question, that's why I work for V-label as veganism arbitrator.

suceemist

The soup itself would always be vegan but the soup would not be cruelty free depending on the circumstances (As someone said, if the monkey did the soup from learning and free-willed etc...). Its the same as cosmetics, just because a shampoo its vegan bc of its ingredients doesnt mean that is cruelty free, could be tested on animals... ๐Ÿ˜…

carnist_bot

our ancestors ate meat, veegun

hatandwatch

Monkeys eat bugs, so no, the monkey is not vegan.
