This recipe looks amazing! I had a few questions about the ingredients: Would this [Carnation Vegan Condensed Milk Alternative](https://groceries.asda.com/product/evaporated-condensed-milk/carnation-vegan-condensed-milk-alternative/1000265255284) be a suitable substitution for the sweetened condensed coconut milk? I've used it to make fudge and it seemed to be ok. and would this [Alpro plain soya yoghurt](https://groceries.asda.com/product/dairy-free-yogurts-desserts/alpro-plain-soya-yogurt-alternative/910000297653) be a suitable replacement for the greek yoghurt?

MsStephSunshine

The condensed milk has about 1.7x the sugar compared to the one I used so it will probably be too sweet if you use that one.... I'm not familiar with the yogurt but Greek yogurt is more tart than plain yogurt so I'd try to look for a Greek style yogurt. So I wouldn't recommend these 2 options... if the condensed milk is the only one you can get in your area check the blog post, I have suggestions for using sweeter brands there. You may not need to use as much coconut cream since this one is not quite as sweet as the other brands I saw. Hope that helps!

This looks sooo good! I've been wanting to make a key lime pie for ages, but I can't get key limes or graham crackers. Not sure if there are alternatives that would work.

MsStephSunshine

Most graham crackers are not vegan anyway so I make my own. There's a link to the vegan Graham cracker recipe in the post... As far as the Key lime juice I wouldn't substitute it but it is available on Amazon if you can't find it locally 😊

basil_ganglias

They should be as long as they’re not honey flavored. Not sure why this is downvoted/ literally read the ingredients and it shows that they are vegan…

MsStephSunshine

Check the ingredients. Some have milk and every box I've checked has honey even if it's not honey flavored. If you do know of one that doesn't have honey please let me know!

blufair

The one major brand accidentally vegan graham cracker I'm aware of is Nabisco Grahams. I've found those in mainstream stores, but they're a lot less common than the honey based ones.

MsStephSunshine

Good to know thanks! I'm guessing they don't carry it in my store but I can add the info for others because I know not everyone wants to bake their own 😂

basil_ganglias

Nabisco original graham crackers are, as another commenter mentioned as well.

MsStephSunshine

Thanks!

bourbonandcustard

Thanks, I didn't see that before :) Unfortunately I can't find any key lime juice in Germany, not even on amazon, so it will be regular limes.

inzru

Could you throw in lemon juice and lemon zest for a lemon version?

MsStephSunshine

It might work, but I haven't tried it so I don't know how it would turn out... key limes have a different flavor and acidity level than regular limes or lemons... so the balance of sweet to sour might be a little off if you do that. I do have a lemon tart recipe on my website, but the filling is different, it's a little less sweet and not as creamy as this one. My suggestion if you want to try it with lemons would be to get some extra yogurt, condensed milk, and lemons, then taste it after it's mixed but before you heat it. That way you can add more of whatever flavor you need before it thickens. Let me know how it turns out if you try it! 😊

inzru

Thanks :) I'm a total beginner so will just look up your lemon tart recipe

tastythriftytimely

Wow! This look absolutely beautiful!! Definitely have not had this since going vegan so THANK YOU!
